Der Aufenthalt war rundum perfekt, wir wären gerne länger geblieben! Sehr bemühte und herzliche Familie, die einen wunderbar bekocht und stets zur Hilfe eilt, wenn man etwas braucht. Auch eine Safari wurde für uns organisiert - alles wunderbar und nur empfehlenswert! 🫶

Silent river cottage is very silent. Near the river on the rooms. I think long is room to river 100m. So beautiful place build the this cottage. Foods is very tasty. Sri Lanka rice & Curry amazing. Very more curry's with the rice. Actually foods is specially rice and curry very tasty 😋. I am highly recommend this place. This cottage operating for family. Amila is owner his wife is cooker and leave in two children doughtier and son. So again highly recommend this place very good hospitality this cottage.

I had a wonderful stay at this guest house in Udawalawe. The property is surrounded by nature, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, and there is even a small river nearby that makes the place feel truly special. The family who runs the guest house is incredibly welcoming, kind, and always ready to help. They took care of organizing the safari for me, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. It’s a very beautiful place, and the family is absolutely lovely — warm, friendly, and genuinely caring. I felt at home during my stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Udawalawe.

Die Gastgeber Familie hat uns sehr herzlich empfangen, all unsere Wünsche erfüllt und vorzüglich für und gekocht (Frühstück, Mittag und Abend). Sie haben uns eine Safari Tour organisiert, uns mit dem Tuktuk in der Stadt abgeholt und und Tipps für Unternehmungen gegeben. Die Unterkunft befindet sich in sehr ruhiger Lage, es ist ein gepflegtes Grundstück mit liebevollen Details und privatem Zugang zum lokalen Fluss in dem man auch schwimmen kann. Sehr gemütliches Zimmer mit Klimaanlage, kleinem Tisch und Kühlschrank. Das Badezimmer ist sehr geräumig und sauber. Die Betten (2 Doppelbetten) waren sehr bequem, mit dicker Matratze und vielen weichen Polstern und Mückennetz.

Die Leute die wir im Zusammenhang mit der Unterkunft getroffen haben (Besitzer Taxifahrer usw.) waren die freundlichsten Leute die wir in Sri Lanka kennengelernt haben und das heißt etwas denn hier sind quasi alle freundlich :) Und für uns wurde alles organisiert (Taxi und Safari) und das für einen sehr guten Preis

Das Bad hätte etwas sauberer sein können. Die Sauberkeit hat allgemein nicht ganz dem europäischen Standart entsprochen. Für die eine Nacht die wir da waren hat es aber trotzdem voll gepasst.

El lugar y los anfitriones son espectaculares. La comida muy rica y variada. Esta muy limpio y cama muy cómoda. Tiene acceso al río para poder bañarse Tiene un buen precio para realizar el Safari. Los anfitriones son muy serviciales y te ayudan en todo.

La ubicación es un tema por si alguien le interesa estar mas cerca de la ciudad. Para nosotros estuvo muy bien estar alejado y descansar de las ciudad. Caminando esta a 30 mtos de supermercado, bancos etc .

Tout était parfait, je recommande. Les hôtes sont très gentils et bienveillants. Le Safari organisé par eux étaient vraiment parfait, ça vaut le coup. Leur hébergement est vraiment splendide et calme. Leurs chambres sont super confortables et tout équipés.

Sowas habe ich noch nie erlebt wie man mit so viel Herzblut eine Unterkunft betreiben kann. Bei den Gastgebern fühl man sich nicht wie ein Gast, sondern so als würde man zur Familie gehören! Sie waren so aufmerksam & freundlich wirklich ganz liebe Menschen :) Das Essen Abends war sooo lecker und wir konnten gar nicht alles essen so viel war es. Sehr gepflegte Zimmer und allgemein die Unterkunft. Leider waren wir nur für eine Nacht da haben aber die Safari gemacht die von der Familie auch angeboten wird. Der Guide hat auch super Englisch gesprochen & hatte ein umfangreiches Wissen über die Tierwelt im Udawalawa Park. Allgemein haben sie sehr faire Preise mit dem Taxi Fahrer und der Safari angeboten. Tolle Preis-Leistung. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Lieben Dank ❤️

La petite famille est adorable, aux petits soins. Les repas et petits-déjeuners Sri Lankais sont très copieux et délicieux. La chambre, simple et bien équipée est très agréable avec sa terrasse et ses petits fauteuils au calme dans le jardin arboré. Bref, tout est super, avec un rapport qualité-prix excellent, on recommande vivement !

Het was echt super hier! Dit was het leukste verblijf waar we in onze vakantie zijn geweest op Sri Lanka. Dat kwam vooral door het lieve gezin waar het verblijf van is. Ze zijn mega vriendelijk, staan de hele tijd voor je klaar, denken met je mee en de vrouw van de eigenaar maakt het lekkerste eten wat we tot nu toe gegeten hebben hier. Ze kookt voor elke maaltijd super uitgebreid. Op het laatst kregen we ook van alles mee, honing, curry bladeren en thee. Ook regelde ze het vervoer van en naar het verblijf en de safari goed. Dit waren ook allemaal lieve en oprechte mensen die hun werk er goed deden. Al met al, super! Dit verblijf zullen we niet snel meer vergeten, ook al waren we er maar kort. Bedankt!

Che dire.....Superlativo!!!! Quando entri ti senti subito in pace. Verde...tranquillità...una camera bellissima con un patio altrettanto bello. La famiglia che lo gestisce è veramente super disponibile!!! Vi aiuterà per qualsiasi cosa vi serva. Nel nostro caso ci ha organizzato un safari all'istante dopo che quello da noi prenotato non si è presentato a prenderci; il tutto ad un prezzo inferiore. Ci hanno trovato un driver superlativo per uno spostamento di 5 ore senza batter ciglio. Inoltre se mangerete da loro, farete una delle cene più buone fatte in srilanka!!! Grazie 1000 dell'ospitalità e dell'affetto trasmesso.

Die Gastgeberfamilie war ausgesprochen herzlich, und die Anlage liebevoll und mit viel Sinn fürs Detail gestaltet. Besonders genossen haben wir das Abendessen in der Weranda – ein echtes Highlight. Auch die empfohlene Safari war ein voller Erfolg und rundum gelungen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Silent River Cottage. It was so peaceful and the room exceeded our expectations - it was beautiful. The grounds are really well kept and very tidy. Lots of hammocks everywhere to relax. You can have direct access down to the river which is secluded and you can see the monkeys playing in the trees. The family who run the cottage are kind, caring and amazing people. We really enjoyed getting to know them and they always go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and comfortable. One evening we learnt how to play carrom with all the family and it was very fun! They work so hard and deserve every success in their business. It feels like a home away from home ☺️🙏 They also offer a fantastic safari which they can arrange for you. Not to mention the FOOD! WOW Nadika is a very very good cook. Her food was amazing. I highly recommend eating at the onsite restaurant as it was the most delicious food we had in Sri Lanka. Thank you for hosting us . We will definitely be back 😊

This had to be one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka! The location is in a quiet area right on the river, perfect for relaxing but not too far away from the main town. While cooling off in the river you can enjoy the monkeys playing in the trees. The rooms were well maintained and the bed was very comfortable. The thing we will remember the most about this place is the family that runs the hotel. I have never experienced such amazing hospitality. They were incredibly kind and generous. The traditional meals they prepared were outstanding and very flavourful ! They were able to arrange a wonderful safari for us and provided us with transportation to the elephant transit centre. I cannot recommend this place enough and wish we were able to stay longer!

Food was fantastic, especially the dinner. The hosts went out of their way to help, set up transfers, organize a safari and even help us get back an item we left behind. They could not have been more friendly.

A nice, new, quite and clean place surrounded by a beautiful garden. It was the best-equipped room we had in Sri Lanka. Amil and his wife are hard working and good people . They do their best and succeed in making you fell welcome and at ease. The breakfast and the other meals were good and plentiful. They organized our transfer from Sigirya with a professional driver and very nice person( Priyante). If we come back to Udawalawe we would choose again this lovely place.

Friendly couple welcomed us with a delicious welcome drink. We felt at home right away. The room had a mosquito net and quiet AC. We had to leave early and they were so kind to provide breakfast packages. It was great. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful setting and Amila and his family were so kind and helpful. Food was delicious and very generous. They organized Safari for us with a picnic and good driver to pick us up and for safari. Would highly recommend!

This property is run by a beautiful family who made our stay so enjoyable and easy! We only stayed one night but wish we had longer to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. They organised the safari for us which was incredible. They made us an amazing dinner and made sure we were able to get to our next accommodation. The rooms were clean and the AC was great.

Lovely room, comfortable bed, exceptionally clean, aircon, coffee and tea and a nice place to sit outside. Breakfasts and dinners were plentiful and tasty. Our hosts organised a Safari for us with Sabash, a highly knowledgable guide. We were out for seven hours, giving us time to visit quieter parts of the park. They also organised Priyantha to drive us from our previous stay in Hatton. Six hours of small roads across the mountains. It could have been a trial but instead turned out to be one of the highlights of our holiday. Gentle and engaging person, we talked and laughed and stopped at little know places along the way. Silent River has just two cottages, we were the only people staying - it was quiet. Perfect for a couple of days. The river swimming was exciting and refreshing - a great location a few steps from our cottage. Be thoughtful that there is a fair current after the rains. A big thank you to Amila and her lovely family who looked after us.

The family are all wonderful & friendly and it’s so evident how important it is to them that your stay is as good as it could possibly be. The food was plentiful and probably the best we had eaten in Sri Lanka at that point. The host Amilia, arranged our safari for us. The whole family came out at 5am to send us off with plenty of cold water and breakfast, their kids came too, which was lovely!

Everything was lovely. Perhaps the only thing was Amilias over attentiveness, which was sometimes a little too much. He needn’t worry, his home stay is a straight ten!

The place is run by Amila and his wife. They’re lovely family that will make you feel welcomed and help organizing whatever you may need. Room was clean and dry, it had well working air condition, fridge and hair dryer! Bathrooms were nice and clean too. Good WiFi connection. We bought safari organized by them. It was a bit more expensive to what you can find on the internet but definitely worth it. It included all entrance and car fees + breakfast and lunch. The driver was very nice, not rushing anywhere. And it lasted over 6 hours (in comparison to regular 4h ones). We definitely recommend.

The owner of the accommodation and his wife were very friendly. They were very interested in whether we had everything and whether we were satisfied. We got an excellent dinner and breakfast. The room was clean and nice. I definitely recommend for a stay. The place is quiet and surrounded by a garden. The owner took us to the bus. The owner cares a lot about the rating and really tries to make the guests happy.

The rooms were clean and modern, the property had a fridge and air conditioning that worked well, as well as a great shower. There was a river for swimming which was very peaceful and refreshing. Most of all the hosts were extremely welcoming, great at cooking and very nice. There was also secure parking for our hire vehicle.

I had a wonderful stay at Silent River Cottage Hotel. The host was incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The cottage was impeccably clean, and the peaceful surroundings made it the perfect getaway. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

We were so lucky that this place was recommended to us! A beautiful Lodge-Like Oasis in Udalawawe with a huge garden and right next to a calm river. The rooms were very spacious and with AC. The best part of it were the hosts, the whole family made us feel so welcome from the start, organised an amazing safari and their meals… wow! They definitely made sure that we can try all different kind of Sri Lankan dishes! We would come here again any time and recommend everyone to do so 😊

Wonderful and rich traditional Sri Lankan Breakfast! The river (swimmable) is maybe 20 metres away. Extraordinary friendly family taking care of their guests in all matters. Great traditional rice and curry buffet as well! Rooms look brandnew.

This place is a breath of fresh air. Amila and his family are so kind and generous, I felt immediately at home. Both the safari they organised for me and swimming in the river were truly magical.

We had a wonderfull stay here for 2 days. The family is very warm and welcoming and takes really good care of you. Amila's wife is a great cook, we loved all the meals we had! One of our children needs to eat glutenfree and she made sure she could eat safely and very tastefully. Amila taught us how to play carrom, a fun boardgame.The river at the end of the garden where you can swim, looks like a scene in Junglebook with vivid coloured birds flying by, and monkeys swinging through the trees above you! Places like the elephant transit home, safaritours and ancient temple are really close. We would defintely recommand this homestay!

The place was nice and clean and the hosting family was very accommodating. The facilities, the meals and of course being able to spend time in outdoors made our trip a whole. We got to stay in the new accommodation across the road, so comfortable and spacious, in the middle of the banana trees, surrounded by lush nature. We even saw a toucan! We had a great swim in the nearby river with the host’s kids (so cute and sweet), by the way they do everything as a family so don’t be surprised if they come wish you good morning as a group lol. Of course we also did a safari organised by the host and it was definitely worth it. We really recommend this place - a bit secluded from the center of Udawalawa but you don’t need to go outside, everything is provided.

Everything from the park like setting to the beautifully decorated, very clean rooms to the wonderfully tasty food they prepared for us. They even paled us a great lunch for our safari. But the crowning jewel was the beautiful river that flowed through their backyard.

We stayed only for one night. The apartman and garden was good. They have chairs and hammocks in the garden, so you can check the peacock from there. The room was clean, working AC, working WIFI. We had a great dinner at the place for 1.600 rupees. We werent pushed to buy safari from them. They organised us a tuk-tuk to the sea for a reasonable price.

Super friendly host, delicious breakfast, nice river to swim in. The room and bathroom were super clean! The host organized us a driver for a very good price and also a 6h safari tour for 70 USD p.P including entrance and breakfast in the Uduwalawe national park. The Safari was amazing our guide spotted many animals and explained everything we needed to know.

The family was very nice and caring. They took good care about every wish we had, gave us dinner and arranged a safari. The safari and our driver was good! He cared for us and made us see a lot of elephants. The facility were nice, of course it’s in the landslide, so keep that in mind. Peacocks in the garden, a river, and lots of bats at night flying over us, which we liked a lot. Cozy veranda too!

We enjoyed our stay very much! Such a peacefull location perfect for relax but close to Udawalawe city center and National Park. We chose it because of perfect reviews and we were not dissapointed! Wery warm, kind, helpful hosts made our stay amazing. The food was great and the owner organised Safari for us which was great! The owner let us stay longer than we should and when we wanted some wine he even drove to the city to get it for us! Thank you so much for lovely stay!

We were very well looked after. The food was delicious and the safari they owner booked us on was great! We ate and did the safari with the other lady who was staying there. It just felt like a really lovely atmosphere, and we stayed for 2 nights. The hammocks are a nice touch, and we played cricket with the whole family for hours. They really do their best to make sure your stay is perfect. We will hopefully get the change to come again :)

We had an excellent time staying at Silent River Cottage. Amila was incredibly helpful with organising a safari and providing advice on sites to visit in Udawalawe. Furthermore, make sure you have breakfast and dinner here. Nadeeka made the best food we had in Sri Lanka and did not skimp out on the portions! The immediate area surrounding River Cottage is exceptional, we viewed a peaceful Buddhist temple, saw over 300 Indian Flying Foxes fleeing the nest at sunset and enjoyed a refreshing swim in Amila’s river.

The accomodation was amazing and so comfortable. All facilities worked amazingly and being by the river swimming with monkeys was so special. Amila and his family were so accomodating, they went above and beyond for us. The dinner and breakfasts were so delicious and we had a wonderful time playing cricket with the kids. They also organised our whole safari for us. We will genuinely remember our stay here forever because we were so touched by this lovely family. Can’t recommend enough. Highlight of our Sri Lanka trip 20/10

The Owner and his family were extremely friendly and recommended a Massage place, which was ok, but too expensive and a very good Safari to Udawalawe National Park . Special place close to the river, where we had a beer while watching birds , monkeys and other animals. Room was clean , bed comfortable. Prize worth the Money.

I had a really great time staying at the silent river cottage for two nights. The room was very clean and well equipped (AC, fridge, blow dryer) and the bed was very comfortable. The rooms are surrounded by (fruit) trees, hammocks and you can watch monkeys and peacocks strolling around. It is nice way to escape the busy city and enjoy the sounds of nature. Another Highlight is the access to the river where you can go swimming. Plus the traditional food cooked by the owner‘s wife was so delicious. One of the best ones I had in Sri Lanka! On top of all of it is the family. They’re so warm hearted and try their best to fulfill any wishes you have. They also helped me with the transport and organized a safari tour with Subhash, which I can also highly recommend. All in all it was a truly magical experience in the jungle that I recommend to anyone who’s looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway.

The place is relaxing and very homey feels like. The owner of the place is a couple and have done fantastic accommodation and services. The room was tidy, especially the bathroom. They serve delicious food for breakfast. Our whole 2 nights stay was well spent. Many thanks to Amila and family for treating us not just like guests but more of a family. 🥰

The hosts give you a warm welcome and are very helpful and attentive. They arranged everyting for me: Safari tour, visit to Elephant Transit Centre, transport to my next stop and cooked a delicious meal. The guesthouse is set in a peaceful, green garden next to a river in an authentic Sri Lankan village. Highly recommendable!

The host and his family are very welcoming. They really make an effort to make you feel good and welcomed. They make many extra thing and don’t ask money for it, like bringing you lunch, making fresh juice after safari or as a welcome drink. The cottage has nice sitting area with a garden view. It was nice and clean inside and I felt good there. I recommend eating there as well. Dinners were delicious.

Really lovelly place with the river, a beautiful garden a really greats accommodations, the familly is full or sympathy, care and share. All the moments that we shared togerher were Amazing! I recommand :) thank s a lot

Being hosted in this structure was an amazing experience under any point of view. The hosts are both very friendly and they will help you with every kind of needs. With reference to the structure, you will find two big rooms very well equiped and super clean with air conditionated and moder furnitures, a big and confortable bed and a good shower with hot water. Moreover, having just two rooms in the entire structure, reaching a full relax in the beautiful garden will be ensured. It is also possible to have meals, breakfast and dinner are really well made by the Madam, the best meals we had in Sri Lanka definitely. This guesthouse is very close to the Elephant rescue center, where you will have the occasion to see elephant cared by experts and volounteer. Lastly, this guesthouse is a very good point to have a Safari in Udawale National Park. The host organized everything for us, a long and amazing private Safari for a cheap price in one of the beautifulest park of the county.
