Die Besitzer waren super nett und zuvorkommend und haben einem stets bei allem geholfen. Das Baumhaus ist ausgestattet mit allem was man braucht und ist ruhig gelegen. Man kann außerdem für wenig Geld Frühstück und Abendessen frisch zubereitet bekommen, was wir auch nur empfehlen können. Insgesamt haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können für den Preis die Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen!

The concept of bird house is just great. It is not a typical hotel. No hot water ( although shower works totally fine and whenits hot this is just reviving ) no standard comfy hotel things. Simple accomodation in tropical style that cuts you off and that is just great. This is the best part. Owner and his family are very friendly. Food is very good. The best papadam in Sri Lanka. Sounds of nature around. Monkeys birds.. and the room has a taste in simple decoration. Tiny balcony cute and green around. Place to dry wet clothes

I would recommend to install a tiny web fabric on a holes in walls to prevent the mosquitos and othet bags comming in. Simple solution that would not break a charm of the bird house principle which is just great. I hope low water preassure in a sink will be repaired.

Siamo state ospiti di Ishan e sua madre per una notte. La struttura è proprio come nelle foto, molto suggestiva e circondata dalla natura, perfetta se ci si vuole immergere in suoni che in città potremmo solo immaginare. Ottima posizione, a 15 minuti a piedi dalla secret beach, e a 5 minuti dalla spiaggia principale di Mirissa. Abbiamo anche approfittato dell'eccellente cucina della mamma, che ci ha preparato un buonissimo curry di pesce, in quanto il marito è un pescatore. Consigliato per passare una notte speciale!

Ishan ha sido un súper anfitrión! Nos recibió con una comida preparada casera, y ha estado muy pendiente en todo momento. La casita del árbol es chiquitita pero muy acogedora y con encanto. Super recomendable!

It's a tree house in a family home. It's comfortable, clean, calm. The family is so nice and kind. Ishan (the son) helped me a lot and he was such a nice decent man. Thank to all of you❤️❤️

Its a beautiful spacious tree house , surrounded by beautiful trees. Its clean and peaceful. Ishan was an amazing host and his mom cooked very tasty food . Breakfast was great and lunch was amazing and too many food items. The best sri lankan meal I had it in last 10 days of my time in Lanka

Location and host family were amazing. We had such delicious food cooked by them and they were beyond helpful and kind.

While the price obviously means’s one should have corresponding expectations, the place could have been a bit cleaner and unfortunately, there was barely any running water for the first evening.

Ishan was a really friendly host who helped us around and gave tips for things to do and see. The dinner and breakfast served by his mom were really good as well! The house itself is completely made out of wood which really gives the vibe of being in a treehouse.

We had such a wonderful stay in Sri Lanka, everything was absolutely beautiful and we were extremely happy with our experience! Ishan was incredibly kind and always ready to help us with anything we needed. His parents are truly lovely people, and his mother prepares a delicious breakfast every morning. The location is perfect, and we felt so comfortable and welcome here. Thank you so much for everything we truly appreciated it! 🙏🏼♥️

Familien har skabt en dejlig lille oase midt i det travle Mirissa. Beliggenheden er med tilpas afstand til strand, restauranter og barer, så der er roligt. De førnævnte ting er indenfor 10 minutters gå afstand. Værten og hans familie er super søde og hjælpsomme.

Påfuglene er fascinerende, men de kan godt larme lidt om natten, så ørepropper kan være en god idé, hvis du er lydfølsom :-)

The room was cosy and in a great location. It was only 5/10 mins from the beach and restaurants. The family were really nice and provided a lot of useful info. We booked our whale watching tour through them which was really great and we got a small discount. It was lovely sitting on the balcony in mornings watching the Peacocks and mongoose.

The room got very hot but there is a fan which helps.

La gentilezza di Ishan e della sua famiglia, la cucina di sua mamma in particolare, che ci ha deliziati con colazioni abbondanti ed eccellenti, oltre che con una cena deliziosa. Ishan ci ha anche dato molti consigli onesti su Mirissa, per cui lo ringraziamo molto. Bella esperienza stare qualche notte in una casa sull'albero! Dal balcone si possono osservare bene i vari uccelli, soprattutto i pavoni, che volano nei dintorni. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo decisamente ottimo. Grazie ancora!

Das Bird House ist eine einfache, aber niedliche Unterkunft mit toller, ruhiger Lage in Mirissa. Verschiedene Strände sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Der Gastgeber Ishan ist super freundlich, aufmerksam, immer erreichbar und hilfsbereit. Das von seiner Mutter gekochte Frühstück und Abendessen sind richtig lecker. Insgesamt eine volle Empfehlung, ich habe meine Zeit im Bird House sehr genossen und sogar um zwei Nächte verlängert.

We loved our host, Ishan and his mother who cooked such lovely food for us. We felt very cared for. From our room we could see and hear the birds and local peacocks. It was very quiet and the room was cosy. It was decorated in a very thoughtful way which made us feel like we were immersed in nature. We loved sitting on the balcony. We highly recommend Bird House for those nature lovers. It was a haven away from the business of the beach in Mirissa.

Unsere zwei Nächte im Baumhaus waren eine ganz besondere und wunderschöne Erfahrung. Die Lage ist einfach ideal – man erreicht den Strand in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß und wohnt dennoch angenehm ruhig, abseits vom Trubel. Trotz der vorherigen Hinweise bezüglich Insekten waren wir positiv überrascht, wie wenige es tatsächlich im Baumhaus gab. Wenn man darauf achtet, abends das Licht im Inneren nicht unnötig lange brennen zu lassen, ist es überhaupt kein Problem. Zusätzlich wurden Räucherstäbchen und Anti-Mücken-Spiralen bereitgestellt, was sehr aufmerksam war. Ishan ist ein unglaublich herzlicher und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber. Er hat sich viel Zeit für uns genommen und uns mit wertvollen Tipps überhäuft. Das Essen, das von Ishans Mama frisch zubereitet wird, war richtig lecker und mit viel Liebe gekocht. Ein besonderes Highlight war, dass wir morgens auf dem Weg zum Frühstück bereits die ersten Pfauen sehen konnten – ein wunderschöner Start in den Tag! Insgesamt hat uns unser Aufenthalt sehr gut gefallen und wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen. 🌿✨

Ishan and his family are very kind hosts. The house is located near the beach, but tucked away in a corner away from all the noise. The dinner was delicious and Ishan helped me arrange transportation to my next destination.

Интересный аутентичный отель. Утром поют птицы, а по огороду гуляют павлины. Когда заселялись, угостили чаем и домашним печеньем. Можете заказать еду у мамы хозяина за дополнительную плату, она вкусно готовит местные блюда. Папа хозяина рыбак, поэтому рис с рыбой был свежим и вкусным. Хозяин заботливый, без внимания вы не останетесь) постоянно спрашивал комфортно ли нам и помог организовать трансфер до Ella.

В домике нет кондиционера, но есть вентилятор. Он довольно шумный, так что будет сложно заснуть. Мы спали без него, успели акклиматизироваться, так что нам жарко не было, было комфортно.

We loved our stay at the Birdhouse. Ishan is a 10/10 host, can’t get any better. Communication was so good, he was very helpful and took good care of us. Sleeping in the birdhouse is a awesome experience in itself, fulfilling a childhood dream of sleeping in a fully equipped treehouse. The location is superb, 2 min walking from the main beach. Ishan lives with his mom and dad which are very kind aswell. We both got the breakfast and dinner - which we can highly recommend for a truly Sri Lankan experience. The fish curry was lovely made from Ishans Mom with the fresh caught fish from Ishans Dad who is a fisherman. Thank you Ishan, you are one of a kind.

The cottage is very nice, was the first time for us in such a place, it has what you need in a small room. Loved also the small balcony. You are in the middle of nature, with lovely animal sounds around and some of them you can expect to enter the room, which is pretty normal. You have to know that. We had breakfast and dinner cooked from the host‘s mom and was very good. No hot water but you also don‘t need it because of high temperature. Good Wi–Fi.

The mosquitos‘ net was broken on some parts and was not enjoyable at all during the night, honestly it could be replaced since is important in such a room. Sink water is almost not existant but shower works.

Ishan is extremely attentive and communicative, very helpful and friendly. As well as his lovely mother that cooks delicious food 😋 I really enjoyed staying at Bird House experiencing a lovely stay with local people. Good location, very close to the beach. I totally reccomend

Maybe it's a bit noisy when you have to rest, but if you wear earplugs you will be fine. There are many insects, you need to get used to them. The water pressure of the sink could be improved

We had a lovely stay at the birdhouse! Great location and a beautiful little treehouse. The optional meals were amazing, Ishan and his mum went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and easy, ishan gave us so many great recommendations that made our stay even better. He also helped organise a scooter and a taxi to the airport for us, highly recommend staying here if in Mirissa. :)

Gospodarz bardzo miły i pomocny, kontakt z właścicielem również na super poziomie. Domek utrzymany w czystości. Możliwość wykupienia pysznych śniadań i obiadów w bardzo niskich cenach. Właściciel załatwił nam skuter w również bardzo przystępnej cenie. Wysokie prawdopodobieństwo wystąpienia owadów, jaszczurek etc. w domku. Ale jeśli ktoś się decyduje na taki domek, musi się liczyć z tym że będzie blisko natury :)

Niente! Consigliatissimo. Bisogna solo mettere in conto che di notte il bungalow può essere un po’ caldo (ma un ventilatore è a disposizione) e qualche animaletto può venire a salutare :)

Ishan est un hôte tellement gentil et au petit soin pour qu’on apprécie au mieux notre séjour. La cabane est une super expérience, elle est très propre, le bois est d’une extrême qualité et il y a tout le nécessaire à l’intérieur. Il ne fait pas trop chaud non plus. Très bien situé également. Le petit déjeuné est très bon ainsi que le dîner (rice and curry) préparé par sa maman. Ishan nous a donné des adresses de restaurants, choses à visiter etc… super séjour, merci à lui. Je recommande

We decided to have dinner and breakfast on-site, and it was truly delicious, all homemade. They also helped us book our activities and were always attentive to our needs. Abbiamo trascorso un soggiorno meraviglioso al Bird House! Fin dal primo momento ci siamo sentiti a casa grazie alla calorosa ospitalità di Ishan e della sua mamma, sempre gentile e disponibile. La casetta sull’albero era pulita, confortevole e pronta al nostro arrivo. Di notte si sentono gli uccelli e le scimmie che camminano sul tetto, ci si sente completamente immersi nella natura e questo a noi personalmente è piaciuto. La colazione deliziosa, perfetta per iniziare la giornata. Ishan ci ha aiutati in ogni momento: ha organizzato i trasferimenti, ci ha dato ottimi consigli locali e reso il nostro viaggio in Sri Lanka molto più semplice e piacevole. Consigliamo davvero Bird House a chiunque visiti Mirissa. Abbiamo lasciato qui un pezzetto di cuore e speriamo di poter tornare un giorno!

Such an amazing family with a beautiful house

Al tratarse solo de una habitación y no de un hostel el trato con Ishan (el casero) y su familia ha sido muy cercano y familiar. Nos ha ayudado en todo momento con nuestro itinerario por el país y con el transporte. También nos ha recomendado cosas por hacer en Mirissa y restaurantes locales los cuales nos han gustado mucho. Hemos desayunado cada día allí y el desayuno estaba buenísimo. También nos ha ofrecido diferentes desayunos para que probemos algunos que no estaban en su menú. En cuanto a la habitación es muy cómoda, está limpia y tiene todo lo necesario para pasar unos días allí. Además tiene un pequeño balcón con vistas a un jardín que te dan la privacidad necesaria. Recomendamos este sitio y repetiremos si volvemos porque el trato con Ishan no ha podido ser mejor y nos hemos sentido como en casa.

Perfect! If you're looking for a quiet nest in the local area, that’s the treasure! It felt like living on the tree thanks to its beautiful, simple wooden interior and the height. From the balcony you can spot peacocks, geckos and other birds and feel like one. You can get very tasty, authentic Sri Lankan food, cooked by the mum of Ishan. He is such kind and warm-hearted person, answering questions and giving very good recommendations. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay there longer because the house was booked. If we will ever come back to Sri Lanka we will come to that nest for sure.

The family I stayed with was very kind. They supported me in every way and gave great recommendations. The room was very comfortable, and everything had been thoughtfully arranged. The location was within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. If I come back, I would definitely stay here again

One of the best stays I had in Sri Lanka. Loved the sound of the birds in the morning and being away from the busyness. Ishan was always there if I needed anything and provided me with information about the area. Not to mention his Mom's homecooking. Very nice and comforting food. I had lunch on my arrival and dinner that same evening. Also I had breakfast the day I checked out. Very happy. Thanks for a great stay

This place is really homely and makes you feel instantly relaxed! The type of accomodation that you’re happy to stay and have relaxing mornings, and happy to come back to after exploring! Ishaan gave us lots of helpful tips about the area and his mum makes delicious breakfast and dinner! We ate there every day and definitely recommend it! The natural environment surrounding and the vibe that Ishaan has created is truly lovely - a million times better than bright white walls! The place is very clean and practical, with a private bathroom and lovely little deck outside.

The place was really wonderful. It was walking distance to all the beaches in Mirissa including the main Mirissa Beach, Secret Beach, Turtle Beach, and Coconut Tree Hill. The host, Ishan and his family were wonderful. You could also order breakfast and lunch from them if you'd like authentic Sri Lankan food. Ishan was super helpful in giving suggestions and was very genuine too. The place is clean and neat.

Nothing really major. But the place don't come with hot water heater if it's anyone's concern. However the weather is warm so I don't think it's a necessity for water heater. They also accept payment in cash, just heads up - but the ATMs are also walking distance or a short tuktuk ride away, so it's not a problem.

We really really loved the hospitality of Bird House Mirissa. We felt wonderfully welcomed from the moment we arrived here, Ishan welcomed us the most refreshing tea and home made biscuits. The room was comfortable and clean, 100% value for money. Ishan helped us with all the necessary information, he even recommended us a secret spot from where we enjoyed the best sunset in Mirissa. He also helped us with hiring taxis for intercity traveling with a cheapest price range. And one thing I must recommend is to try their food. Ishan's mother is such a lovely lady and an excellent cook! In our 6 days travel of SriLanka, this homestay's meal was our most favorite.

After being in sri lanka for 7 weeks I can say this is one of the best places I've stayed. The location is amazing, not too far to walk too the beaches or the centre of mirissa for some shopping or to visit restaurants for some food. As soon as I booked a I received a message from Ishan with tips on where to go and what to do in mirissa as well as a menu for the food they serve. I tried the chicken curry and fish curry for lunch and dinner, breakfast i tried the pani pol and the coconut rotti with Dahl. The food was amazing 👏 Ishan mom is the person who cooks the food which is really nice. As Ishan wasn't there all the time he would message throughout the day to make sure everything is going okay and there are no issues. I didnt have any issues whilst being here but if there was a message to Ishan would have sorted it straight away.

Only thing I didnt like is that I couldn't stay here for a few more days as I had to go back elsewhere 🖤

An amazing house in nature, entirely built by the host and his father. The host and his family are incredible people who treat you like a brother and provide you with lots of information throughout your stay in Mirissa.

It was such a sweet little treehouse, with a little bathroom and a balcony in front! It got a bit hot in the night, but with the fan it was totally fine, around the bed there is a mosquito net which is really nice! All in all it provided a very comfortable experience in the trees! If you want you can even order dinner or breakfast from the family who runs this. And Ishan, the owner, helped us with everything we would’ve needed and always made sure we are happy.

We stayed with Ishan for 2 nights and we couldn't be happier! The tree house is very nice and clean. It has a ventilator for the heat, incense for mosquitoes and repellent. Ishan helped us with everything we needed from minute 1 when we made the reservation. Excellent attention on his part both by Whatsapp and in person :) he received us with a very tasty welcome tea and we tried the fish curry made by his mother. Very very delicious and filling! Also the breakfast pani pol, we loved it!! We are very happy to have stayed at Bird House and I recommend it without hesitation! Ishan helped us with all our doubts and recommended places to eat that were perfect :)

Location was walking distance from everything Mirissa has to offer. The host was amazing, always checking in and making sure your needs were met. The food was also great! Restaurant and excursion recommendations were very helpful! The place was super clean as well.

Surrounding streets don’t have many streetlights, it’s dark to walk around in the evenings.

Ishan and his family are the most welcoming people. His mum cooked us amazing meals and they all made us feel like we belonged. The bird house is surprisingly spacious thing with the quirks of a building made by hand with love. We enjoyed reading on the balcony as fireworks went off and peacocks called to each other. Fireflys dance in the area at night and the local nightlife is fantastic. Ishan is so helpful and honest- he organised trips and gave us advice on avoiding tourist traps and making the most of our time. We will be back!
