The location is excellent- beautiful and peaceful. Walks and birds abound. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and were made so very welcome.

We didn’t like the open bathroom. A small basin in the toilet would be useful.

The overall hospitality and willingness of the owner and staff to accommodate our every need was amazing!

There was nothing to dislike whatsoever, The only downfall was that we couldn't stay longer.

100% RECOMMENDATION TO PERFECTION!!! Do not hesitate to book this property for your stay, as everything about this property is absolutely beyond perfect!!! The location is central to George and Knysna, allowing you to wander in both directions on the Garden Route. The room is fabulous! The style is modern and fresh. The beds were very comfortable, and the linen was crisp and clean. The breakfast was scrumptious! The hosts are very professional and attentive to your needs, ensuring you enjoy a comfortable and memorable stay.

Die Gastgeber Roland und Richard machen das Toto Retreat zum idealen Punkt für Ausflüge entlang der Garden Route, wir haben uns sofort Zuhause gefühlt. Die Atmosphäre vor Ort ist absolut einzigartig, wir haben viele spannende Personen getroffen aber hatten auch die Möglichkeit, Ruhe zu finden. Für Pärchen ist die Unterkunft genauso geeignet wie für Familie. Exzellent ist auch das Team vor Ort. Super Frühstück und coole Ausflugsmöglichkeiten direkt um die Ecke. 10/10 - ohne Zweifel

Wo fängt man da an? Es hat uns alles sehr gut gefallen. Ganz besonders die herzliche Art vom Gastgeber Roland, der uns sehr freundschaftlich und hilfsbereit begegnet ist. Er hat sich auch sehr um unsere Kinder bemüht, wir waren traurig wieder zu fahren… wir können diese Unterkunft wärmstens empfehlen und danken Roland für die tolle Zeit und wünschen ihm alles Gute!

Everything about In Toto Retreat is truly great! Especially Roland the owner, who is very kind, attentive, and prepares the best breakfast! The location of the guesthouse is stunning, right at the beach, in walking distance to the popular Sedgefield Community Farmers' Market, and close to a Superspar. The apartment is also very spacious and has everything that we needed!

Nothing major but unfortunately there was still some rubbish left from previous guests in the kitchen and bathroom. We were allowed to check-in early, so maybe that was the reason why it was forgotten to remove. Otherwise the apartment was spotless!

We had a lovely stay at In Toto Retreat. The room was beautiful, very spacious with a great balcony with views across the lake. Very well equipped and peaceful location. It was nice to walk around the area and the lakeside. Unfortunately the weather wasn't nice enough for the pool but the pool area looked very nice. We had a great evening nearby at the Wednesday evening food market recommended by Roland the host. The locals were very friendly. Roland was a great host and breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Enjoyed a trip to nearby Knysna Heads. Thank you for a great stay.

Selten haben wir uns an einem Ort so willkommen und wohl gefühlt. Wir wurden bereits vor Anreise kontaktiert und ein früher Check-In wurde uns ermöglicht. Das Haus ist mit 6 Zimmern überschaubar und beim köstlichen Frühstück, das keine Wünsche offen lässt, kommt man mit den anderen Gästen ins Gespräch. Die Zimmer sind hell, schön eingerichtet und groß. Wir erhielten tolle Tipps für Unternehmungen vor Ort und wären gerne länger geblieben. Das Personal, insbesondere der Besitzer Roland, waren sehr zuvorkommend und wahnsinnig hilfsbereit wie freundlich. Selbst für unsere kleine Tochter wurde liebevoll gesorgt.

Es ist ein wundervoller Ort und die Gastgeber lesen einem die Wünsche von den Augen ab. Wir sind viel unterwegs, aber dieses Gasthaus ist ein Juwel und etwas ganz besonderes. Vielen lieben Dank für die schöne Zeit

Roland is a very special host who made us feel so welcome Nothing was too much trouble He personally treated us to a delicious breakfasts and even generously fulfilled gluten free requests. His talents have transformed In Toto into wonderful meeting place for locals and visitors alike. He frequently organizes small shows or talks or courses When we visited Sedgefield, he arranged a Swartvlei beach group walk to view the sunset and also the super moon rise (at that time) However if one chooses more privacy, it is easily facilitated and respected

The breakfast was really exceptional. the facilities were absolutely spotless. I really appreciated the small touches like the home made muffins in the morning and the filter coffee in the bedrooms.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im In Toto Retreat so sehr genossen! Angefangen von den tollen Zimmern, über das sehr leckere Frühstück bis hin zu den wundervollen Gastgebern Roland und Richard! Es ist ein absoluter Wohlfühlort! Man fühlt sich wie bei Freunden zu Hause! Auch für unsere Tochter gab es jede Menge Spielzeug! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

In Toto is beautifully located, with wonderful views over the lagoon, spectacular sunsets and skies, bird life, good swimming. It is quiet and peaceful, a perfect spot to relax and recharge. The owners are helpful without being intrusive, the rooms are comfortable, the breakfasts are great (best omelettes). I’m only sorry I didn’t discover the library until I was on my way out - next time! It would be a lovely place for a winter break too - lovely walks and fires to come back to.

We had a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the river. The room was well equipped with a surprising large bed. There is a nice walk along the river. Take note the room/bathroom is very open plan so its best to take this room only if you are visiting with your wife/partner or girlfriend, since the bath and shower are open plan. The room does however have quite a nice bath and shower facility.

The guesthouse is situated on the end of the street where there are public braai facilities by the river. This can lead to a bit of noise during the day when people come to settle there for the day/afternoon. Not really something that is in the control of the owner, yet something to keep in mind if you are aiming for a more quiet environment.

Truly wonderful stay. Ronald's warm hospitality made the stay a highlight of our garden route trip. The location is beautiful, the rooms are thoughtfully decorated, and the property is well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing and comfortable experience.

We had an unbelievably wonderful time at In Toto Retreat in Sedgefield, and it went by far too quickly. After a few very busy days in Cape Town and Hermanus, our stay here was exactly what we needed. From the very first second, we felt completely at home. The location on the “island” is simply stunning and wonderfully peaceful. A big thank-you again to Renée, who was the perfect host and shared so many great tips about the area—thanks to her, we even got to enjoy the best cheesecake around. 😋 One morning after breakfast, we took the kayak out to explore the beautiful lagoon from the water. They also offer free bikes and SUP boards, which we’ll happily try on our next visit—because our stay was far too lovely not to come back!

This place is wow! Renne was the best host so friendly and made us feel at home. Room was massive and bed super comfortable. Location is right on the lagoon and it’s warm to swim in. There’s bikes to rent, SUP etc which is so calming to use in the morning. Breakfast also so so good! We wish we could have stayed longer. It’s a must visit if you come to Sedgefield!

The location is perfect right on the edge of the lagoon. We swam and kyaked and cycled around the area. Very safe and all the locals were very friendly. Roland and Renee were fabulous hosts.

Roland is the best host you can wish for . He’s very friendly and makes an extra ordinary breakfast 👌👌. The guesthouse is in a wonderful area with the near lake and sea. Very peaceful. We‘ll definitely come back one day. We highly recommend this place 😍😍

Proprietario simpatico e super accogliente, pronto a darci consigli e a prenotarci i ristoranti per la cena. Ottima la colazione. Adatto anche per famiglie con bambini. Avevamo una camera molto ampia con vista piscina, un bellissimo bagno e un piccolo patio intimo e riservato. Abbiamo usato le bici per fare un giro. Volendo, Roland mette anche a disposizione un paio di kayak (l'accesso all'acqua è proprio di fronte a casa).

Es ist ein wunderschöner, idyllischer, ruhiger Ort, wo man sich wirklich entspannen kann. Roland hat uns herzlich empfangen und er hat uns ein tolles Frühstück bereitet und sich zu uns gesetzt. Er hat uns tolle Tipps für Restaurants und Wanderungen in der Umgebung gegeben. Er hat uns auch ein Kayak ausgeliehen, das hat total viel Spaß gemacht. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön, toll eingerichtet, hat uns wirklich gut gefallen. Wir können es uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen, hier zu übernachten.

Sehr schön eingerichtete Wohnung, mit allem was man braucht. Betten perfekt!Lage sehr ruhig. Direkt am See. Kajak, SUP und Fahrräder darf man benutzen. Das sehr gute Frühstück wird von Roland mit Liebe zubereitet. Er ist zu uns gewesen, als wären wir schon lange befreundet. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

We loved everything about our stay at In Toto, and will certainly be back. The location on the water's edge was perfect, our first floor rom was spacious, very comfortable and well equipped, with a wonderful view. Roland is a great host, who made us feel completely welcome and at home, and he prepares a great breakfast!

This place was beyond great, it was superb. Amazing room with own fully equipped kitchen. All of the communal areas were spacious and comfortable. The position right next to the lagoon was a bonus. Our host for the 3 nights was the delightful Renee, who did an amazing breakfast and was so helpful in recommending places to eat ( Montecello and VDM Bistro were both excellent) and to visit, some places a little more obscure than the obvious ones. This made our stay extra enjoyable.

The venue is immaculate in every sense and the host is simply the best you'll ever encounter. I cannot describe how brillaint and tentative he was to our needs and beyond. Goes above and beyond what their standard offerings are to see to your needs. The location is so peaceful and the local scenery magic.
