Dolphin Inn Guesthouse & Apartments

The owners are really friendly and the room was big and had air condition ☺️

We loved our stay at the Dolphin Inn! The location is perfect, close to the beach but away enough that its quiet. We had the studio apartment and it had a nice balcony with hangers to dry your beach towels etc. The room was spacious and had a kitchen, large fridge. Iris and her son are super nice and have been great hosts. The room is super clean as well! We really enjoyed our time!

Great location, down the road from Dover beach, supermarket within a 5 minute walk, each walking distance of the gap for plenty of bars and restaurants. The bus stop is up the street also for easy access to most of the island and more beautiful beaches. It felt very safe walking around the neighborhood. We stayed in a self contained apartment it had everything we needed, perhaps a little bit dated, however I do feel thats the style as it has a cabin feel. The small balcony is lovely to sit at in the morning or evening with plenty of wildlife coming by, lots of hummingbirds, lizards, monkeys, parakeets every day. There is a place to dry your wet towel, swimwear and loungers to use too, although we used it more to sit under the parasol after a long day in the sun as its nice and shady. We loved the tortoises in the front garden:) In the room there is a kitchenette with a fridge freezer, microwave 2 ring hob, kettle and coffee machine, this made it easy for us to take a picnic to the beach most days. The shower is lovely and hot and powerful. The towels were refreshed every 3rd day, toilet rolls replaced and room cleaned. There was air conditioning available at an additional cost per day, however we didn't use it as we were out most of the day and it did go cooler at night. Netflix was available free of charge so it was nice for the nights where we were back early. Also wifi is free of charge and is very good strength. The owner iris was on hand and contactable via WhatsApp and although she lives on site, the apartments feel very private. Iris's son Ron collected us from the airport and showed us the shop, the beach etc before taking us the accommodation, he also took us back to the airport for our flight home for a very reasonable fee. I will also add that on our last day, iris kindly allowed us the room till later than expected so we could shower before heading to the airport, this was great for us to enjoy the holiday until the last hour.

There was nothing really to dislike to be honest, but i do like to give a balanced and accurate review. I would say that as there are 4 small apartments/cabins adjoined side by side, you can hear the neighbours talking through the walls. On our first evening, due to jetlag we woke at 2:30am and were talking in the room and the neighbours banged on the wall as obviously they could hear us. (We did apologise the next day) There are metal sliding security gates over patio doors which are loud when opened and if the neighbours or ourselves were up early, the noise of the gates opening/closing is loud. That said, you do feel safe when its locked up. It was mostly very quiet at night, we heard the house next door playing loud music a couple of nights however it was the weekend and it wasn't excessive and didn't go on all night. As the back is lined with trees and foliage, the night insects can be loud I had never heard these before and its like a beeping noise every second, (i think it was a type of cricket) although its definitely a noise you get used to and you hear them all over barbados so this is not a negative about the accommodation but just an observation as it did keep me awake on the first night, however I felt the amount of wildlife visiting throughout the day more than made up for the night visitors (we never had any bugs in our room)

From being picked up at the airport to being returned to the airport by Ron. a most enjoyable 14 night stay at the DOLPHIN INN.

LEAVING

Host, location and room were all perfect!

Nothing

Cleanliness, facilities & location. Iris and her son Ron are both delightful people who made us feel very welcome.

Nothing

God seng. Meget hyggelige eiere.

The location was perfect. It was a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Our host Iris was very accommodating. I will definitely stay here againI really can't think

I really can't think of anything that could have been better.

Location excellent air con clean well survived accommodation host

Nothing

Iris and her son Ron were such lovely hosts, they were so kind and helpful and made my stay so memorable. I cannot recommend the Dolphin Inn enough, it is a family run guest house that really feels like home.

Nothing was bad!

Family-run business and they were extremely helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend the dolphin to any friends or family travelling to the area and will book with them again for my next visit. Exceptional!

I liked the location, it was a five minute walk to Dover Beach and St Lawrence Gap with access to lots of bars and restaurants.

I properly was fine just a little noise from the highway late at night and the local Cockerels early in the morning!

Gut gelegenes Gasthaus.

It was a little dated but this only added to its charm.

Clean and tidy and so welcoming

The hosts were amazing and super helpful from the get go. Property is spacious and always kept clean, close to local ammenities, beach, restaurants and good transport links. Although it is close to all the tourist places, it is in a nice quiet area. Great value for money and nice, calming atmosphere.

Everything was really good, no complaints

Rien

Dolphin Inn is situated in a lovely quiet area near the beach. It’s close to public transport and has plenty of restaurants nearby. Iris was absolutely wonderful, meeting us and getting us settled. There is a kitchen and sitting room area too. The property was very clean and it was a great place to rest.

Clean and safe.

Iris was wonderful, location was great. So lovely and quiet. Excellent kitchen facilities. Brilliant air con

I know mattress’s are personal but I really struggled with the hard mattress. Sore hip one side, bad shoulder the other and not the best back meant I couldn’t get comfortable.

Iris was an impeccable host. She was always onsite and able to answer any questions we had. Her son came and met us with a smile at the airport and took us for a little drive around the block to help us get our bearings of the local area. The room was ideal for what we wanted and needed as a base and allowed us to make our own breakfast and lunches as we pleased. The balcony is a nice little bonus, and we even had a family of monkeys come by and say hello. It was a 5-minute walk to the beach and all the amenities and an even shorter walk to the bus stop to Bridgetown or Oistins if you like exploring a bit more of the island. If we were to return to the island, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Nothing!

Super clean. Large rooms. Comfy bed. Excellent AC. Really great location. Lovely host. Perfect if you’re looking to stay near St Lawrence Gap. As a single woman I felt totally safe.

Nothing

Iris was a good host and a nice surrounding 8.5 out 10 to me Good place

Perfect location, set back from the busier streets in the area so lovely and quiet and only a short couple mins walk to all amenities, shops, bus, various beaches, restaurants and bars. Bed was so comfortable! Everything you need is in the apartment, terrace area is beautiful and family of monkeys visited daily. I loved my stay! Iris and family are so friendly and helpful, I would return here in a heartbeat

Fabulous place to stay. So much better than the 5-star hotels. Iris made sure we were comfortable and treated us like family. We will definitely book in with her next time we are in Barbados 😁

Iris, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. A short walk to lots of bars and restaurants. Met our expectations, all that we wanted and needed and would happily return if going back to the area.

Nothing.

Great location (just far enough away to avoid noise from the gap/bars), with an incredibly helpful owner who went above and beyond with any queries. The room was very spacious and clean, and the shared facilities had everything you needed to ensure a comfortable stay. Couldn’t recommend it enough for someone who just needs a nice, clean place to shower and sleep!

Having the use of a kitchen and lounge made it feel like home. Iris is a lovely, helpful host. Ron is also very friendly when transporting you to and from the airport. The guesthouse is in a great location, very close to the beach and pubs/restaurants. Although the road itself remains quiet. I felt very comfortable staying there.

Nothing

Really nice hosts and great location! Felt in a safe neighbourhood . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Iris and Ron

I liked the curb appeal of the home. It was well maintained & landscaped beautifully. Iris was available and very obliging with any questions or concerns— which I had none. Fellow guests were pleasant. It was very quiet & location was excellent — walking distance St. Lawrence Gap, Oistons, Dover Beach, etc. I look forward to returning of to Barbados & the Dolphin Inn😊

Lovely apartment, quiet location just 5 mins from the beach front. Owner was lovely and happy to sort out any problems/requests.

There is currently ongoing building works that were overlooked by my balcony (apartment 1) but hopefully, these will be completed in the near future.

We loved the Dolphin Inn We had a wonderful stay, It was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and truly felt like a home away from home. The hosts, Iris and her son Ron, were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. The room had everything we needed, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant stay in Barbados. The location was excellent not far from the beach, bars and restaurants, we definitely stay here again.

Nothing! There was some construction work going on behind the property which we very rarely heard as we were out at the beach or on day trips through the day.

Great location. Close to beach, restaurants, cafes. Easy access with car to travel all over island. Very safe and secure. Simple but exceptionally clean. Owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Great value.

Iris really made me feel welcome and I would go back to Dolphin Inn again, without hesitation Ron collected and returned me to the airport on time .

There wasn't anything I didn't like

Iris welcomed me warmly and I soon settled into what felt like home. I especially loved my very spacious room and the relaxing communal areas. There was a lovely relaxed interaction with the other guests. Location is superb - Dover Beach 5 minutes to left and well stocked mini market 5 mins to right. There is an all pervasive calm through the gardens and house. Belonging and freedom. I have travelled widely but can truly say Dolphin is one of a kind. Thank you Iris and Son for the gift of your wonderful hospitality.

Nothing

Good facilities. Very spacious. It fitted the bill

Having a building site outside our balcony was a little disconcerting.

The location was ideal and within walking distance to the beach and other bars and food places. Iris was very welcoming and warm. All facilities were clean and inviting. I can't forget to mention how affordable this was given all the above. The neighborhood was awesome! And I had an amazing stay that was beyond my expectations.

Perfect location Iris and Ron were very helpful and friendly enjoyed my stay very much! 10/10

What a lovely gem that is close in walking distance to a beautiful beach, many restaurants, and all the Barbados action you could ask for! This is a guest house that has all the facilities needed to ensure an amazing stay! The room was spacious, clean, and so comfortable; also with a sizable shared kitchen for full use. There is a warm & welcoming atmosphere from the moment I arrived through the time I left. I highly recommend their convenient pick up service from the airport as it was seamless & a fair price; just perfect for a late arrival when I wouldn’t have known where I was going. I highly recommend Dover Inn Guest House and Apartments. You will love the nicely manicured yard, flowers, trees, turtles, and wildlife. Also there are monkeys in the area and the owner was kind enough to make sure I caught sight of them. Just an amazing gesture adding to a perfect stay!

Iris is a lovely lady who hails from Switzerland, the No.1 country for hospitality and hotel management so her place is just as clean as any 5 star hotel, if not more so. It was also well protected so no mosquitoes or other insects could get in. The place looks better in real life than in the photos and it's a short walk to the beach & main bus route.

Everything exactly as described; photos are a true representation of the apartments. Also, comfortable mattress. Spacious terrace with a table, chairs, and a lounger, as well as a small rack for drying clothes. Iris is an excellent, friendly host. They can also arrange airport pickup without any extra charges. Would stay again. Can recommend the studio apartments for a single traveller or a couple who wish to keep to a budget on a longer visit. (Should be obvious that if one wants AI and/or a hotel with, say, a swimming pool, etc., then one should look elsewhere - plenty of those options around.) The guesthouse itself is located within a couple of minutes walk from the beach (Dover beach and extensions are the nearest). A small supermarket, an ATM, a pharmacy, and some local vendors selling fruits and vegetables are within a relaxed 5 min walk distance. About 2-3 min to the Maxwell main road where all the Oistins - Bridgetown buses stop. St Lawrence Gap with all its bars and restaurants is just next door, too. (The Gap is known as the area to go out.) In general, an excellent location on the South coast.

Not the host's fault, but there are ongoing building works next door. Was mildly annoying at times. Hard to say how it'll affect the apartments once the works are completed - will clearly obstruct the view, but shouldn't be too bad.

The moment I walked out of Barbados airport and I saw Iris's sons big smile that welcomed me, I new it was all going to be just perfect . With so much soul and warmth throughout the guesthouse , and the most majestic surrounding natural beauty . vibrant flowers , trees , monkeys , birds lizards , and my favourite. Spotted in the evening ; fireflies. The location was close to everything you could need , just a 5 min picturesque walk to the surreal holiday brochure like beach with white sands , clear waters full of fish and turtles . I can only describe this place as ethereal, I woke up everyday and felt like I was still dreaming . There's everything you need at your fingertips, a coffee shop, supermarket and bars all within 10 minutes from the home stay . My room was so bright and breezy , super clean and the choice between a ceiling fan and a powerful air-con machine both came in handy. I am solo female traveller, therefor there were plenty of things that I had been slightly anxious about before visiting . All of my worries completely disappeared the moment I met Iris and her Son . They went above and beyond with telling me local information and directions and all the advice I could have needed . With great communication throughout the trip and booking process . A real home from home . Being back in England I actually feel home sick for the Dolphin Inn. I would like to say thank you so much for having me and sharing your beautiful home with me . I would and have already fully recommended your guest house. I hope that one day I can come back and visit . Until next time, All the Blessed ! Amy

We stayed in apartment 1 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was spacious, very clean, with everything we needed. It had a large balcony and we loved having monkeys as an occasional visitor. It was about a 5 minute walk to the Gap where there were numerous bars and restaurants. Iris was a wonderful host who made us feel very welcome. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend.

Iris was amazing, location wise house was perfect a short walk to beach and bars, but fair enough not to hear any of it. The house was kept clean.

If I had to give something it would be the pillows was a bit to big (for me) This did not affect our stay at all, we will 100% be back.

I loved staying here! Very comfortable and well-equipped apartment, excellent location and great hospitality

Very homely. Everything I needed was there ,, knowing iris was upstairs helped with me being a single traveller.

The property was spotless inside and outside. It was also extremely quiet and a short walk to all Barbados has to offer- beach, st Lawrence gap, etc. The beds were extremely comfortable to sleep in the bathroom / shower were excellent.

I wish we got to see the monkeys more that live in the back… otherwise I don’t have anything negative to say.

Authentic, genuine, kind and caring - Dolphin Inn offers the true spirit of Barbados in a premium location, minutes from the beaches and big hotels of St Lawrence Gap. Iris and Ron are warm and knowledgeable hosts - kind and reliable and happy to answer questions and equally welcoming to people who just want to do their own thing. I travelled alone and felt safe and secure at all times. Iris and Ron arranged my airport pick-up and drop-offs too - and everything ran like clockwork. The authentic charm of my apartment (spotlessly clean, air-conditioned with a huge balcony and everything needed in a holiday home-from-home) felt far more real than a soulless room in a big hotel, where you could be anywhere in the world. I was 100% in Barbados at Dolphin Inn. My huge thanks to Iris and Ron for a wonderful stay - Dolphin Inn is an absolute gem!

Loved everything. All expectations exceeded.

Great location, very clean

Highly recommended

Iris and her family made sure everything was perfect and went smoothly, from the airport pick-up to the entire stay. Cleanliness, convenient, great location for getting around as it is close to restaurants, shops and the beach.

Nothing

Iris was dedicated to making sure that everything went smoothly for a wonderful vacation in Barbados from the pick up at the airport late night to the drop off for five days later everything was spectacular.

Iris was so helpful and was always on hand for advice and information. She was particularly helpful as we needed a late check out and went out of her way to accomodate us. Would definitely return here.

Nothing

The location is great

Nothing

Very warm welcome from Iris and her family. Communication before I flew out was great, and iris answered all my questions on arrival, including all the local information I required.

Iris is a fantastic host - warm welcome on arrival & as it was a quiet period she upgraded my room & what was very much appreciated was on checkout day I could remain with my room until I departed in the evening for the airport. Location also was good with several beaches within easy reach & local buses along the coast. Would hope to stay there again in the future

All good

Wonderful guest house close to the beach and local amenities. Clean and well equipped throughout and a warm welcome from Iris, who is happy to provide local advice and information.

The facility was great, very clean and comfortable, in a nice area close to many amenities+the beach as well as easy bus transportation. Iris+Ron were very helpful and kind. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was very comfortable and very clean, the lounge area with television was a nice place to relax and watch either live TV or YouTube or Netflix. It has a shared kitchen and you get an allocated space in the large fridge. There are plenty of utensils, crockery and pots and pans to make use of. An excellent host who really went the extra mile in being friendly.

I can think of nothing to dislike at all as the Dolphin Inn is just my cup of tea and I enjoyed it a lot.

Iris is a wonderful host and the location of the Guesthouse is excellent.

excellent location - very convenient to go to the beach / in and out of Bridgetown & surroundings; close to nice restaurants & bars; super friendly hosts Iris and her son Ron were very helpful and welcoming; comfortable room; highly recommend Iris’s place for your stay in Barbados!

great location with all the things you need for self catering

excellent care of guests

Very welcoming hosts and great facilities. Cleaned regularly and very comfy beds. Easy walk to popular St. Lawrence Gap area with lots of restaurants. Close to a great beach and easy access to public transport for getting around. Food shop with everything is a short walk away.

Exactly what we expected Lovely clean room .very close to beach & all Dover beach amenities

Everything was well organized from the moment Ron picked me up at the airport until he took me back. Iris is an amazing woman who makes you feel right at home. My accommodation was very clean and comfortable with regular cleaning and linen changes. I can't say enough about the wonderful vacation I had. Located close to the Gap and beach, 3 minute walk. All you want close by.

Everyone reading my review will want to book with Iris at the Dolphin Inn and I won't be able to get a reservation. LOL 😆.

Within easy walking distance to everything beach, food, buses, supermarket and nightlife. Comfortable lounge with TV and lovely host.

It was super clean and spacious. Iris made a great job making sure everything was spot on.
