Hasthi Safari Cottage

Unique looking cottages, very well maintained. The host is friendly, arranged a safari for us and some off menu food because our youngest doesn't like the local food. His wife is a great cook and I definitely recommend getting dinner here too.

As a 1m90 guy, I bumped my head of the low doors.

Hotel incredibilmente tranquillo, immerso nel verde anche se è a due passi dalla strada. Camere ampie, pulite e belle. Prezzi onestissimi anche per i massaggi e la cena, fatta in casa. Anche la colazione è ottima. Ci siamo trovati molto bene ci dispiace essere rimasti solo una notte! Si possono prenotare anche i safari per Udawalawe direttamente con loro, comunicazione via whatsapp molto facile. La camera sull'albero non era disponibile ma ci hanno dato una bella camera con bagno aperto molto suggestivo e abbiamo potuto utilizzare l'amaca in ogni caso.

The location is great. The hosts were all so helpful and kind. They arranged a good safari for us, it was lovely. The bathrooms were wonderful. My room had the outside bath but I couldn’t figure out how to fill it (and I didn’t ask). Best mango juice we have tasted during our 3 week trip.

Excellent accommodation! Comfy beds, great aircon and fabulously modern garden bathroom. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. Exceptional help from the owner organising a safari with a guide who gave great animal facts and took us too a fantastic massage. Planned to stay 1 night but stayed 2.

Very nice safari cottages. You feel the safari vibe immediately when you enter the property. Everything is perfectly designed and well maintained. There is s thought behind every little detail. We just loved to sit in the terrace and enjoy playing games with our kids to the sound of nature in such nice surroundings. Dasun and his family did everything they could to make our stay wonderful. The food is great and definitely affordable.

Super hôtel en centre-ville, proche du safari. Une belle expérience dans ces cabanes modernes, un accueil chaleureux, et de très bons repas maisons pour découvrir la cuisine sri lankaise. L’organisation du safari avec l’hôtel était parfaite, rien à redire et pour un très bon prix. On recommande ++

El anfitrión fue una persona muy atenta y servicial, siempre pendiente de nosotros y dispuesto a ayudar en todo momento. Tuvimos algunos problemas durante el viaje y nos echó una mano sin dudarlo, lo cual se agradece muchísimo. Además, organizó el safari para nosotros y fue una gran experiencia. El guía que nos acompañó fue excelente, muy atento y detallista, incluso tuvo el gesto de traernos comida porque sabía que no habíamos comido bien. También queremos destacar que nos dejó una moto para ir a ver el amanecer, algo que fue un auténtico puntazo. La cabaña era muy bonita, y el baño especialmente increíble, todo muy bien cuidado y cómodo. Como punto a mejorar, la comida. La cena estaba rica, pero nos pareció algo cara (pagamos unos 13$ cuando pensábamos que serían unos 8$ según Booking). El desayuno tenía bastante cantidad, pero no fue de nuestro gusto comparado con otros sitios donde habíamos estado. En resumen, una experiencia muy positiva gracias sobre todo al trato del anfitrión y las actividades, aunque con algún detalle mejorable en la comida. We loved the outdoor bathroom and tranquil setting. The food served was some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka. The safari and visit to the elephant transit centre organised by them, was excellent.

Very good location. Outdoor bathroom was cool and novel. Breakfast was nice. Staff was pleasant.

Overall didn’t live up to our expectations. Shower was cold water only, so even though outside it was very chilly indeed. Tub is not able to be filled yourself. Room was strong odour of mothballs. Very basic. AC was available but maybe a bit broken - seemed to be only on or off. No top blanket meant with AC on we were freezing and AC off we were boiling. Dinner was definitely edible, but a little cold (not made on site). Not the best. When we arrived there was no one to greet us so we had to go and find someone to try to get the WiFi password etc. Overall not my favorite stay, but certainly passable.

Recently stayed at Hasthi Safari Cottage and it was a truly memorable experience overall. Sehr herzlicher Empfang. Wunderbare natürliche Anlage, mit viel Liebe hergerichtet. Der private kleine Pool im offenen Badezimmer hat uns begristert. Lunch und Dinner haben wir im wunderschönen Speiseraum genossen. Alles war sehr schön arrangiert, sogar mit Stoffservietten. Wir können das Haus allen empfehlen und werden gerne wieder kommen.

Dasun en zijn familie waren fantastisch! Ze staan elk moment voor je klaar. We waren met een kindje van 1 jaar en daar hebben ze apart groentes voor gekregen gekookt elke dag. Ook zorgde Dasun voor een klein opblaas zwembadje om in te spelen toen het warm was. De sfeer en het eten in restaurant zijn geweldig, elke avond verse locale gerechten gemaakt door Dasun of zijn vrouw. Super fijne dagen gehad. Je kan ook de safari bij hem direct regelen, die doet zijn team zelf en was perfect.

Kan men helemaal niks aan doen maar op wandelafstand in de omgeving is er niet perse iets te doen. Als je ergens heen wilt, kan je altijd een tuk tuk vragen en die staat direct voor je klaar.

Die Unterkunft war der Hammer- toll ausgestattet, geschmackvoll eingerichtet, toller Außenbereich, stimmungsvoller Essbereich. Wir hatten ein sehr leckeres Abendessen. Der Gastgeber hat alles Erdenkliche getan, um uns einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt zu bereiten. Er fuhr uns am ersten Abend zum Elefanten-Hospital zur Fütterung, anschließend zur Jagdzeit der Flughunde an einen guten Beobachtungsort. Er organisierte für uns für den nächsten Tag eine Safari. Der Kontakt war supernett, wir können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt empfehlen!

Bardzo ładny obiekt. Dookoła zadbany ogród. Można poczuć klimat Safari. Pokoje czyste z fajnymi łazienkami (nie było robaków :) ) Sympatyczny gospodarz zorganizował nam kolację a na drugi dzień niesamowite safari (kierowca był najlepszy!!! Wiedział gdzie pojechać, jak się ustawić żeby były dobre zdjęcia. Zasługuje na najlepsze oceny!!)

The host and the staff were very very friendly, authentic and approachable. They made sure that our stay to be cozy and easy. The outdoor bathtub was definitely a highlight of the stay - a cozy bath underneath the sun, trees and monkeys. Breakfast was nice and the host also helped us arranging a safari tour with fair price and a very genuine driver with good eyes to spot the animals.

Abbiamo scelto questo alloggio come base per il safari ed è stata una piacevole esperienza! La stanza era pulita e ben attrezzata con climatizzatore, ventilatore, bollitore e tutto il necessario! Il bagno all’aperto è sicuramente un’esperienza da provare almeno una volta! La cena preparata dalla donne di casa era davvero ottima e il proprietario ci ha aiutati ad organizzare il safari e il trasferimento per la nostra prossima destinazione!

Nel bagno c’era anche una vasca, ma non l’abbiamo utilizzata perché non era possibile svuotarla per cambiare l’acqua e non era pulita. Ma la doccia all’aperto era fantastica! 😉

Le personnel était très agréable, il nous ont réservé un taxi afin de nous déplacer jusqu’à notre destination suivante. Les chambres sont très spacieuses, et la salle de bain en extérieur est un vrai + Les repas sont très bons et copieux. Je recommande grandement

Super domki na pięknym terenie - trudno uwierzyć, że znajdują się tak blisko głównej ulicy, bo jest tu cicho i spokojnie. Ładna odkryta łazienka (zaskakująco pozbawiona niechcianych lokatorów), wygodne łóżko, dobra klimatyzacja. Bardzo kontaktowy i pomocny gospodarz, polecam też safari, które nam zorganizował.

Muy acogedor el hotel, la ducha es lo que más nos gustó de todo, un espacio al aire libre pero dentro de la intimidad de tu habitación.

Nous attendions un logement simple, exotique et plein de charme. Cependant, les travaux en cours (construction de deux nouveaux bungalow sur la propriété) ont un peu gâché notre accueil (chambre pas prête) et la quiétude matinale. Le personnel très sympathique et plein de bon vouloir fait que nous ne leur en avons pas du tout tenu rigueur et qu’on les soutient dans leur courageux projet touristique. Cependant, mieux vaut être prévenu que la situation sera la même pour quelques mois encore. Enfin, la propreté du logement est un peu remis en cause par la proximité de la nature : lit de la mezzanine recouvert de mini-insectes, paroi en bois visitée par une file de fourmis, eau chaude rudimentaire). En résumé, ambiance safari!:)

Très belle chambre totalement indépendante nichée en pleine nature. Le lit est très confortable, le propriétaire est au petits soins, il est venu nous chercher gratuitement à la gare, nous a trouvé un scooter à louer et un taxi pour la suite. Tous les matins, la mère du propriétaire nous prépare un petit déjeuner plus que copieux et excellent

This place is amazing! Big room and no mosquitos at all inside, I didn't even turned on the A/C or fan. There's a relaxing sofa in front of the cottage entrance. The garden and nature surrounding is really nice but the best part is definitely the outdoor shower! Breakfast is tasty and varied, I also had a really good and big kotthu for dinner. The owner is really kind, he brought me to the Elephant Transit home, organised the shared safari for me and also a shared taxi. Thank you🙏🏻

I had a wonderful stay at Hasthi Safari Cottage and can’t recommend it highly enough! The accommodation is clean, spacious, and thoughtfully maintained, surrounded by a beautiful garden that gives the place a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The service quality is exceptional — everything is perfectly organized and the staff make sure you have everything you need. The owner is truly outstanding — very kind, attentive, and always ready to help with anything, from arranging safaris to local transport or special requests. His hospitality made me feel genuinely welcome, more like visiting friends than staying at a guesthouse. Vriendelijke ontvangst met een heerlijke mango-smoothie. Echt een geweldig mooie tuin met veel leuke details, lampjes en zacht muziekje in de avond, echt met aandacht. Een leuke ruime cabin met deels openlucht badkamer, erg leuk om eens te ervaren. Het ontbijt was ook weer met aandacht samengesteld, Sri Lankaanse gerechten maar ook toast met boter en jam, erg lekker allemaal/ruim voldoende ook en zeer vriendelijke dame die het serveerde. Wij vonden het jammer weer te moeten vertrekken. Safari via de eigenaar geboekt en ook dit was een erg leuke ervaring, het baby-olifantje stal de show. In tuin van b&b trouwens ook twee aapjes gespot. Dit is een eerlijke review, als je hier boekt zul je geen spijt krijgen! De details vond ik leuk ook, de olifant aan de sleutel, de olifant steentjes in het straatwerk voor de deur. Het olielampje en muggenstokje dat in avond zeer attente bij de cabin werd aangestoken.

We loved the secluded feel of the place while also being surrounded by nature. The homemade food was incredible as was the the outside shower!

Maybe a more powerful hairdryer? But no real issue.

Cottages hebben alles wat je nodig hebt. Liggen op een fijne rustige plek maar toch ben je zo in de hoofdstraat. Host heeft voor ons een safari geregeld. Heerlijk diner en ontbijt gehad bij verblijf zelf.

Hosts were absolutely amazing, helped us with everything we could have needed. Food was out of this world and so reasonable - we were a group of 6 and Dasun was so careful to make sure we had everything we needed and gave a variety of cars for my friends to travel on. In addition to this, safari organised through the cottage, it was actually Dasun friend who was an AMAZING driver & guide and took us to loads of secret spots that others didn’t know about - if you are wondering whether to book this DO IT. Also it was certainly the best Sri Lankan food of our whole trip so far

Staff gentile e simpatico, posto bellissimo, rapporto qualità prezzo super. Natura meravigliosa, giardino tenuto perfettamente ottimo per rilassarsi. A pochi passi da tutti i servizi e ristoranti, o fanno un servizio ristorazione generoso e un mango juice strepitoso. Organizzano con partner esterni massaggi e safari (il posto dei massaggi è a qualche minuto di macchina). Molto pulito.

Presente musica ad alto volume proveniente dall'esterno per ore. Disturba un po' la quiete del luogo. È immerso nella natura, quindi portare repellente per insetti

Absolutely perfect. I’m a picky person and this place it’s just amazing. The owner is the nicest man, always ready to please you, I’m vegan with a lot of intolerances and he prepared a lot of food for breakfast for me and even after a lot of food was worried that was not enough. He also arrange the safari and I suggest to do everything through him cause is really honest. The bathroom is just amazing!!! Super suggested

The property is beautiful and the cottage with private external bathroom was very nice . It had a nice vibe to it and a new experience for us . We asked Dasun to prepare dinner for us and it was the best meal we had in Sri Lanka .Del curry was a highlight of our trip along with the soyabean curry served with rice. The complimentary breakfast was good as well. Dasun also helped us with some payments when we were short of cash and we paid to him later with card .Our stay was pleasant overall, highly recommended

The flush wasnt working when we arrived but it was quickly fixed by host .

Very engaged and friendly hosts that put in a lot of love and worked on so many details to make this place a very special place to stay. The host prepared our dinner when we arrived late, breakfast in the morning, organized a great safari tour and was at all times very committed to providing us a great experience. Very recommendable!

Amazing place, the hosts were extremely welcoming and helped us with everything from making sure how to get there, to organizing for us a safari, to bringing us cash when we forgot it in the room for the elephant sanctuary, to preparing tasty meals for us. The cottage was very charming and the garden is like a paradise. We couldn't believe we got so much for the price we paid, 10/10

Cosy place to visit with nice hosts.

The only negative remark I have is that the driver they assigned us for the safari tour, was 15 mins late. With that said, he was a good guide.

Super chambre à un prix imbattable ! L’endroit est très agréable, parfait pour 1 nuit (2 maximum) avant ou après un safari. Le lit est confortable, aucun bruit la nuit à part les oiseaux qui chantent La salle de bain extérieure est incroyable, la douche est vraiment géniale. L’accueil est au top, très chaleureux et attentionné. Franchement rien à redire, et le petit-déjeuner était copieux et très bon.

The room we stayed in was a little "tired". The bathroom mirror was cracked and the electric shower seemed to dim the lights on selection. The kettle plug did not fit the outlets available.

Lovely place located centrally but tucked away from the busy road where it was really peaceful and close to nature. Was a great place to relax after our safari tour. The rooms were spacious and had everything you'd need to be comfortable. As I read from previous reviews about the bathrooms... they were indeed very unique and cool! The best of all, the host & his family are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend to stay here!

Wat een geweldige accommodatie! De eigenaar is ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam, reageert snelnop what's app. Super fijne, schone, goed geïsoleerde cabin met heerlijke buiten douche. Lekkerste douchegel in Sri Lanka. Jammer dat we niet langer konden blijven.

Sehr liebenswertes Personal. Als wir ankamen wurden wir erst einmal bekocht (lecker!). Danach bekamen wir eine persönliche Safari-Tour. Im Anschluss gab es Tee und der Geburtstagskuchen wurde mit uns geteilt. Wunderbare Atmosphäre. Idyllisch, ruhig (bis auf die Geräusche der Wildnis), sehr gepflegte Anlage. Eine wirklich besondere Unterkunft. Die Außendusche war außergewöhnlich!

Die Matratze ist in die Jahre gekommen. Dürfte mal ausgetauscht werden.

Een mooie locatie midden voor je gevoel in de bush bush terwijl je maar 100 mtr van de hoofdstraat zit. Nette schone ruime kamer met zowel airco als blower. Vriendelijk personeel.
