Unglaublich freundliche Gastgeber, liebevoll eingerichtet und tolles Frühstück. Gut gefallen hat uns auch der Außenbereich wo jede Menge Affen vorbei schauen. Auch die Safaribuchung kann ich über die Unterkunft sehr empfehlen

Diese Unterkunft hat uns in 3 Wochen Sri Lank am Besten gefallen. Es ist sehr schön eingerichtet, sauber und wirkt wie neu. Die Familie ist freundlich und organisiert tolle Safaris.

Завтрак тоже понравился — свежий, сытный и вкусный. Отдельное спасибо за прекрасно организованное сафари. Всё прошло отлично, было удобно, интересно и без лишних забот. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The hosts and staff were extremely friendly and always ready to help with anything, making our stay as pleasant as possible. Janith the host, very welcoming and friendly. He arranged everything for us including safari, suggested good places for food and provided everything we asked for, the breakfast was good and he even helped us in taking us to the supermarket and atm when we needed. The rooms were neat and clean, location is good just 10 minutes from safari and couple of decent restaurants nearby, overall we liked the place and would recommend for anyone looking for stay in udawalawa

I stayed only one night, but it was excellent. The room is very beautiful, spacious, and quiet, and the bed is comfortable. My host also offers safari tours, so I joined the 4 hour afternoon program and I loved it. It was a great experience, and I saw so many animals. The next day, he also took me to the bus station. I really recommend this villa.

Lovely small homestay, extremely comfortable and very well furnished. Large modern bathroom, very good shower. Very nice breakfast. Host was great, very friendly and helpful and we had a great stay.

Die beste Unterkunft, die wir in Sri Lanka hatten! Es war super sauber, das Wlan war gut und das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig und für jeden war etwas dabei. Wenn man möchte kann man über die Unterkunft auch eine Safari buchen.

Das war bisher unsere schönste Unterkunft auf unserer Reise durch Sri Lanka. Das Zimmer ist total modern und sehr sauber! Man hat eine komplette Glasfront, um in den Dschungel zu schauen, wo man Affen beobachten kann. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und reichlich. Das Persona super lieb! Wir haben eine Safari (früh morgens) über die Unterkunft gebucht und können das wärmstens empfehlen - unser Guide ist sehr umsichtig gefahren, hat viel erklärt und wir haben ganz viele Elefanten und andere Tiere gesehen.

Bardzo sympatyczne właściciel u którego Też mieliśmy zorganizowane Safari z cudownym kierowcą. Zatrzymaliśmy się tylko na jedną noc ale było bardzo sympatycznie a pokój spełnił nasze wymagania było czysto i wszystko było zadbane.

Large and clean room, located right on the edge of the forest. We could watch monkeys playing in the trees from our room! We organised our safari directly through the accomodation and we had the best time, with our driver being very knowledgeable about local wildlife and spotting things that we so hard to see. There are some cafes and restaurants within walking distance too although the walk is along the main road. Overall this stay was exceptional value for moneys

The property was very clean, just like the photos. The host was very nice as well. He was very helpful and friendly. He took us to the safari to the national park. Though we were vegetarian, the breakfast options felt less. The overall experience was amazing.

Wir waren für 1 Nacht in der Unterkunft und haben am nächsten Morgen die 6h-Safari direkt über die Unterkunft gebucht. Der Guide (ein Sohn des Besitzers) war sehr nett und wirklich hervorragend. Zusätzlich zur Tour gab es ein Frühstück im Nationalpark sowie gekühlte Getränke. Die Unterkunft ist äußerst sauber und die Besitzer sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Safari war wirklich atemberaubend!

Janith hat eine wunderbare 6stündige Safari mit uns gemacht, sehr kundig die gesichteten Tiere erklärt und sie uns aus der Nähe, aber ohne sie zu stören beobachten lassen (z. B. Everything about this stay is fantastic. The room itself is very nice, beds are cozy and shower is one of the best we had in Sri Lanka. The back faces into the forest and you’ll probably see monkeys and maybe a giant squirrel. We booked a tour of Udawelawa through the owner. It was not the owner running the tour which worried us since other reviewers said he is good, but the driver we had was also fantastic. Don’t hesitate to stay here and book a tour.

Fantastic little place. So clean and comfortable. The family who own it were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The patio area was great for monkey watching! We took the safari tour organised for us from the owners and was truly amazing...we even had a gorgeous breakfast provided whilst on the safari, which was delicious. Wir waren auf unserer Durchreise eine Nacht dort. Die Familie ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit und spricht auch gut englisch. Wir haben über das Hotel eine Safari gebucht. Preis war super und die Safari richtig gut! Kann nur empfehlen sie über das Hotel zu machen. Frühstück war sehr viel und sehr lecker. Nachts war es ruhig. Wenige Meter entfernt gibt es auch ein Restaurant.

Manchmal hat es aus dem Badezimmer bisschen gestunken. Wenn man aber die Tür zum Badazimmer zu macht, kein Problem

To był nasz jeden z najlepszych noclegów podczas 14-dniowej podróży motocyklowej po Sri Lance. Miejsce jest czyste, przyjemne, jasne, przystosowane do odpoczynku i regeneracji. Bardzo dobrze się tu czuliśmy i żal było wyjeżdżać, mimo iż w samej miejscowości Udawalawa poza safari nie ma za bardzo co robić. Wybraliśmy to zakwaterowanie ze względu na safari organizowane przez gospodarza i zdecydowanie nie żałujemy. Była to bardzo wygodna opcja i przede wszystkim udało się zobaczyć 16 słoni z bliska! (+7 przez lornetkę), oprócz tego krokodyle, małpy, listy, ptaki i mnóstwo innych zwierząt. Śniadania serwowane w obiekcie były bardzo smaczne. Szczerze polecamy ten nocleg osobom niezdecydowanym. The breakfast was awesome, and the owner was extremely polite! He offered us a safari trip which was really nice. Moreover, we loved the view from our room - straight on the forest. We would definitely recommend a stay there :)

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt in der Forest Edge Safari Villa. Das Zimmer war gross, sauber und gut ausgestattet. Wir bekamen ein reichhaltiges und leckeres Frühstück. Der Besitzer Janith war sehr nett und engagiert. Er organisierte eine Safari für uns. Wir hatten einen tollen Guide, ein gutes Fahrzeug und einen unvergesslichen Tag. Die Preise (Unterkunft, Safari) waren sehr fair. Wir können die Unterkunft jedem weiterempfehlen und würden gerne wieder dort übernachten. 💕

The host was super friendly and humble, the place was really spacious and clean and the view of nature and the monkeys was entertaining! Had such a good breakfast. Janith also helped me to go to the ATM and showed me the good places to have dinner. I also would recommend going to do the safari with the owner because he is very passionate about it! There enough restaurants walking distance, I also ended up walking to the water reservoir and it was a nice walk.

Very clean and spacious rooms! Perfect located in Udawalawe, close to restaurants and not far from the Elephant Transit Home. Janith was an excellent host, making the little extra for us. He even drove us to the Elephant Transit Home in his jeep when we asked him if it was easy to get there by TukTuk. For breakfast make sure to ask him for his mother’s delicious toast!

Super clean, comfortable room. Great shower with lots of hot water and good pressure! Back patio faces jungle, so it's fun to watch monkeys jump around in the trees from the room. A few restaurants are just a short walk down the road (we ate at Udaya Restaurant, and it was very good). Kind, welcoming hosts.

We had a wonderful stay there. We could watch the forrest with the monkeys from the room. The host was more then service orientated. Breakfast was more than fantastic. Price for value was amazing. We can really recommend it.

We had an amazing stay at this Villa with warm, family-like atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location offers beautiful views and a peaceful environment. The entire property is spotless, and the rooms are well-maintained and comfortable. We also recommend using the safari option. Good organization, great driver, delicious breakfast. Definitely stay at Forest Edge Safari Villa! The room was one of the cosiest we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka and Janith accomodated our late arrival and early morning safari. The bed was so comfortable and we had a great sleep after a long days travel. Will be recommending to friends and family if they ever visit Sri Lanka!

This was one of my favourite properties in Sri Lanka. The room and bathroom are fabulous. I received a wonderful welcome by Janith. I chose to do the 6-hour safari tour, organised by Janith, which was fabulous. My guide was Suresh, who was excellent. We saw so many different animals - including lots of elephants. Next day Himansa served a fabulous, and large, breakfast. She then waited with me at the bus stop for the bus to Ella. The property is family run and they all do a fabulous job.

There is nothing to dislike.

We loved our stay at Forest Edge Safari Villa, Janith is an incredible host who arranged a breakfast (cooked by his Mum) to cater for the Gluten Free people in our group! The rooms looked like they were brand new and were so clean and comfortable. The location is also amazing, close to the National park and right on the edge of the forest. You can sit out on the balcony and watch all the wildlife in the forest (just don’t leave any food out for the monkeys!). Janith also arranged safari for us which was absolutely amazing - we chose to do the 8 hour safari and saw so many elephants. The driver was fantastic and we were sent of with a delicious breakfast and a cooler full of cold drinks. We can’t recommend Forest View enough if you’re visiting Udawalawe!

Great facilities, shower, everything is clean, well maintained. Good breakfast, host communication, he helped us find the bus and arranged safari tour for a great price at the last minute.

Perfect location, beautiful place and great service. The best breakfast we had. We went on a 4 hrs safari organized by them and it was great. We also had monkeys visiting the terrace which was an additional attraction.

A little soap to wash hands would be nice to have but that was a minor issue.

Very comfortable stay! The room was big, perfect temperature with air con and a nice bathroom. It was exceptionally clean with a great terrace area to watch the monkeys. We stayed there for three nights and it was the best sleep I’ve had in a long time! The host, Janith, is a really friendly guy. He arranged the safari for us (which was one of the best experiences of my life- highly recommend), and arranged a taxi for us, took us to the bank to get money out etc. The hotel is in a perfect location a short drive away from Udawalawe National Park and the Elephant Transit Home, and walking distance to local restaurants and bars (recommend Vibe X and Hungry Monkey). Good stay at a well maintained place. Location with a view out in the forest was excellent. Safari arranged via the hotel, good driver/guide, at a fair price. Good breakfast. Short distance to close by restaurants. Didn’t really meet the host, until basically check out, but good and swift communication over whatsup.

We booked this place to serve us for a sleep over for our safari tour. However, this turned out to be a great surprise as the facility and staff exceeded our expectations. The room was very clean, the best bathroom during our Sri Lanka trip, comfortable. The backyard is a forest with an amazing feeling of nature being next to you. The staff (a young brother and sister) were really great. Our breakfast was marvelous. And the facility was very very cheap. I think the team should reconsider the prices. We also used their jeep for safari and the price and quality was very good. Suresh was our guide and he was very very good with identifying all species of birds, not just a generic elephant observer. We were very satisfied with our tour. This was a great stay for us and we can suggest to everyone.

Room - comfortable, big, with a nice ensuite and a serene patio overlooking a forest. Staff - very friendly and accommodating, and quick to respond to any requests on WhatsApp. Safari - I joined the Safari attached to the hotel and can recommend it highly. The driver was excellent at identifying wildlife and was often first to see rare animals. I did two tours: 4h one afternoon and 6h one morning. Both times, the guide was excellent. He has a deep respect for the wildlife and the animals and this really comes across in his tours. He even invited me to dinner with his family afterwards which was an honour and a treat - thank you!

No suggestions - this stay met my expectations and was a memorable two days. Location - there are a couple of decent restaurants nearby but if you wanted to venture into town it is either a 10-15 minute walk down a main road or a short tuk tuk ride. This was no problem for me but others should be aware.

If I could give this hotel 20 stars, I would. What a great finding. The bed is the BEST we’ve had in Sri Lanka, shower pressure was AMAZING, everything super clean sheets, towels and room. The view is great, with the green scenery. Breakfast is also very plentiful and delicious. For dinner and lunch, the location is also perfect once it’s walking distance to the 2 best restaurants in the region. They have the best safari prices as well, he has 2 great cars and is very experienced Now talking about the owners: 2 great human beings, that besides taking care of their guests, they also take care of the poor dogs of the regions. They cook them food twice a day, took some to the vet, helped stray cats, and call animals their friends. I fell in love with this place and would not think about staying anywhere else. Thank you 🤍

Staff amazing, the main guy (sorry I have forgotten your name!) Was great, spoke very good English, best I have experienced from hotel manager in Sri Lanka. Bed was very comfortable. He helped organise a great Safari and it was a very good price too. Our room was good, good bathroom, comfy bed, fridge, it was clean. Good, large breakfast. Nice decking outside the room to relax and listen to jungle sounds, see monkeys. Outside the front is a patio too which is very nice with good chairs, we played cards together out there. The owner provided restaurant recommendations and also gave us a lift up to the main strip during the rain which was very kind. If you are doing a safari in Udawalawe, I would 100% recommend to stay here.

This was an incredible stay at the hotel. The cleanliness here is outstanding. The staff is very welcoming and accommodating, always going above and beyond to meet our needs. They organized a safari for us, and it was absolutely amazing. We saw so many elephants and other animals. Our driver would stop and, like a hawk, point out where the animals were. The trip was fantastic, and they even provided us with snacks and everything else we needed. I can 100% recommend this hotel. Later, we had an issue with our car, and the hotel owner personally helped us resolve it for over two hours. If you’re hesitating, don’t. Choose this place. These are truly amazing people!

The structure is nice and comfortable, the owner is super nice and the breakfast is very good. We went on safari with a driver trusted by the owner and it was unforgettable. If I would come back in Udawalawe I would choose this apartment again. I recommend it!

A very modern, clean, and perfectly located hotel. The owner was very kind and organized an excellent Safari for us. Everything went according to plan, and we were delighted. During breakfast, there is a wonderful view of the jungle, with monkeys jumping all around. I highly recommend this place.

Janith could not have been more amazing at ensuring we had a brilliant stay. He went out of his way to drive us around Udawalawe and recommended a restaurant for supper. He also organised a fantastic safari with a yummy breakfast. It is brilliant value for money and Janith’s helpfulness makes it a great place to stay.

Safari was a bit pricey

Best hotel I stayed in during my time in Sri Lanka. Nice style decor, massive room with seating area and bathroom and bed, extremely clean. Fridge in room and aircon were greatly appreciated. Host was also extremely friendly and helpful with arranging breakfast to take away and advising on ongoing transport - stayed to wait for bus and then helped flag down the right one.

Janitu was very friendly and a pleasure to deal with, booking us a last minute safari tour and also serving us tea on arrival. As the property is right on the forest edge you get to see monkeys through the bedroom window/door!

The monkeys are awesome to view in the morning, afternoon and evening. Don't keep anything (especially phones and such) outside. The private (!!) safari tour was arranged by the hosts with their jeep. We had a great breakfast during the tour at a gorgeous lake. Good communication via the chat about the safari. Great and comfortabel room which suited all our needs. Good shower. The hosts are kind and stay on monkey watch while you have breakfast. This was one of our most favorite places to stay in Sri Lanka.

The best way to get some food in the town or around is via tuk tuk ride, but this is an acceptable tradeoff for the monkey viewing.

Nice cold welcome drink on arrival, excellent aircon. Owners very friendly and helpful, organised our safari and offered to give us lift to restaurant in the evening. Could sit outside for hours watching the monkeys play! Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Stunning setting, rooms back onto forest, and the safari starts as soon as you arrive with the cheeky monkeys! The family could not be more hospitable, welcoming and friendly. The rooms are very spacious, clean, good A/C, super comfy bed. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and they even packed us up a takeaway breakfast and took us to the bus early morning. Also booked safari through them which was exceptional. Could not recommend anymore.

The room is incredibly good, the best we had in Sri Lanka so far. Seeing the monkeys from our room was attractive for our son. Janith and his family have a really special place. The safari organiser with them works really well and the driver Suhesh, was incredible, he tried hard to find the animals and explain everything to us. The breakfast after the safari was another plus, it was really tasty and the best one so far. Thanks you guys, we loved our stay.

Slightly limited options for lunch/dinner nearby but we found a lovely cafe that we went back to several times and I think this would be true of most places in the area surrounding the national park!

Great room with a good view of the forest outside including views of monkeys, peacocks and other birds during the day. The host was great too and he sorted out a great safari into Udawalele, was accommodating around sorting out a gluten free breakfast for my partner and helped with a great restaurant recommendations and transport onwards for us too!
