C'est le coup de coeur de notre voyage, le propriétaire était d'une rare gentillesse. La location était modeste mais propre et agréable, on ne peut que vanter la perfection d'un tel séjour. Pour le paiement, nous avons même refusé le prix promotionnel du propriétaire pour encourager sa gentillesse.

Een geweldig leuk huisje en de host was erg behulpzaam en stond altijd voor je klaar. Regelmatig kregen we vers klaar gemaakte sapjes zonder dat we daarom vroegen. Daarnaast heeft de eigenaar ons ook nog ‘s ochtends vroeg naar de lion rock gebracht met zijn eigen auto.

The lodge was so much fun - very quirky in all the right ways. Breakfast was home made each day & delicious. Good location in Sigiriya & the cats here are adorable!

An absolute masterpiece of a place!Ama Eco Lodge completely stole my heart. Staying at Banda’s house felt less like a hotel and more like finding a home for my artistic soul. Banda is an amazing, genuinely caring host who makes you feel welcome from the very first moment. The entire property is stunning, but the beautiful, unique outdoor bathroom was an absolute highlight of the stay. It is the perfect natural escape, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sigiriya!Banda is an incredible host who looks after you so well. His house has such a cozy atmosphere, and the stunningly designed bathroom makes you feel completely connected to nature. It really inspired my inner artist! Thank you, Banda!

Wat hebben wij een fantastische drie dagen beleefd in de Lodge bij Banda en zijn familie. Wij waren onder de indruk van de mooie Lodge en prachtige tuin. Mooie geluiden wanneer je S’morgens een lekkere koffie dronk in de hangmat. Elke ochtend kregen we het meest lekkere en uitgebreide ontbijt vers gemaakt door zijn moeder/ en of vrouw. Over de verblijfplaats kan je gewoon niets negatief vertellen, het had alles en zeker zijn charmes! De gastheer Banda zorgde voor vervoer tijdens ons verblijf, hielp meedenken met ons voor leuke activiteiten (die we ook deden) en we hadden zelfs de mogelijkheid om onze kledij er te laten wassen tegen een zeer schappelijke prijs. Een absolute aanrader als je naar de Lodge gaat: eet zeker je avondeten bij de Lodge, nergens anders kan je zo lekker en uitgebreid eten als daar! Elke dag vers en met liefde en zorg bereidt, dat proef je gewoon. Kortom: je gaat zeker geen spijt hebben dat je er naartoe gaat. We hadden liever nog langer gebleven. We komen zeker ooit nog eens terug wanneer we naar Sri Lanka reizen.

Lieve en behulpzame host

We spent 2 weeks in Sri Lanka and stayed in some great places, but this was one of our favourites. The lodge is very unique with the most amazing outdoor bathroom. It felt like a real escape, surrounded by a beautiful garden, private veranda and a hammock to relax in. Banda was an excellent host. He got up at 5am and to take us to Lion rock so we could climb it for sunrise and had breakfast waiting for us when we got back. On both nights, his mum and wife cooked for us and served us the most delicious, home cooked meals on our veranda. This was honestly some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. Ama Lodge definitely set the bar for accommodation on our trip. Thank you Banda and family!

The host is absolutely incredible! In all my travels — and I’ve traveled a lot — I’ve never experienced such genuine care and attention. Banda, thank you so much for the cozy atmosphere, delicious breakfast, wonderful service, and such pleasant conversations. The house is spotless, the bed is comfortable and big, and the outdoor shower is a truly delightful experience. It's nice to have breakfast or chill at night in the inner yard just in front of the house. We were happy with our stay here. Thank you so much!

Had a wonderful stay at Ama Eco Lodge. Everything is beautifully decorated and the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was superb, and loved the 'honesty fridge' concept where you can just help yourself to drinks. The host is incredibly warm and goes above and beyond to help with everything, from organizing transfers and safaris to giving the best local restaurant tips. You truly feel welcome here. Highly recommended!

Het was uitstekend

Nuestra estancia fue excelente en todos los aspectos. El lugar está impecablemente limpio, la cama es muy cómoda y el lavabo exterior es precioso. El aire acondicionado funciona perfectamente, lo cual se agradece mucho. En la planta superior hay una nevera con bebidas gratuitas de cortesía, un detalle muy generoso. A pesar de estar rodeados de naturaleza, no hubo ni un solo insecto dentro de la habitación: las puertas y ventanas están muy bien selladas. También cuenta con una terraza con mesa. El desayuno fue delicioso y variado: los dos días nos sirvieron opciones diferentes, y todas estaban riquísimas. La amabilidad del personal fue otro punto fuerte: incluso nos llevaron gratuitamente al centro de Sigiriya en tuk‑tuk (¡solo 5 minutos!). La ubicación es ideal, muy cerca de la roca de Sigiriya. Sin duda, una experiencia altamente recomendable.

Das Homestay wir von der Familie mit ganzem Herzen geführt. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und zu unserem Hochzeitstag gab es sogar eine Überraschung. Das Frühstück ist sehr reichhaltig und abwechslungsreich. Früchte, Backwaren und lokale Speisen werden hier variiert. Die Familie erfüllt alle Wünsche ihrer Gäste und gibt gerne Tipps für Unternehmungen. Das Zimmer entspricht exakt den Fotos. Es ist sauber und sehr gemütlich. Zum Abendessen hat die Familie für uns verschiedene lokale Gerichte gekocht. Es war unglaublich lecker und vielfältig! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Danke für alles!

Alles war großartig!

Die Unterkunft und der Gastgeber selber ließen keine Wünsche offen. Die Gastfreundschaft ist unschlagbar und es wurde jeder Wunsch erfüllt, von Safari bis hin zur TukTuk-Fahrt. Wir würden jederzeit wieder diese Unterkunft buchen!

The host is adorable, and the breakfast was rich and super tasty. The host's mom cooked dinner for us, and it was delicious. Great place to stay with a great location to go to climb Sigiriya Rock. We strongly recommend it!

We loved everything about this accommodation! Banda is such a nice person. He is warm and welcoming and always wants to make sure you are comfortable/ have everything you need. He recommended different places to visit and shared with us some contacts to rent a scooter, boat tour, taxi driver, etc. The accommodation has everything you need and the bed is very comfy. The breakfast is one of the best that I had in Sri Lanka, local food and very tasty. It is also very big. I recommend 100% Banda and his apartment

The accommodation is the most beautiful place in Sri Lanka. Banda and his family were incredible hosts who went above and beyond to ensure the best possible stay. From fresh juices and a delightful breakfast to a fantastic dinner—cooked by Banda’s mother and served by his charming daughter—every detail was perfect. You simply have to experience it for yourself. A huge thank you to the whole family!

wonderful staff, great food and great location! we had a perfect stay - no negatives

One of the best places we stayed on our trip. Banda was such a great host - helping us arrange transport and get the most out of our stay. We had a lovely dinner and breakfast on the porch and got to see the fireflies by the lake in the evening.

Look no further! This place is amazing and beyond what we expected. What sets it apart from the many places is Banda and his family. He is a lovely man, so generous and gentle. He is a great host and takes excellent care of you; from the fresh spontaneous juices (king coconut right off his tree that he climbed to get for us), the amazing food his wife and mother made (honestly, this is THE best food experience we had in Sri Lanka, and we are foodies), to the itinerary and activities he recommends and arranged (lovely massage, tuk tuks, good tips on when to hike up Sigiriya Rock Fortress etc etc). He is also a lovely story teller and is the local snake catcher (ask him to tell you the story of the cobra he helped catch and the viper encounter). We loved this family and didn’t want to leave. He involves his family and friends in some of the tours and you know this family supports each other. We also loved his beautiful garden and saw many birds and played with his wife’s dogs Kuku, Bole and another street dog we nicknamed TickTick. The lodge is very comfortable and even has drinks and snacks provided including a large bottle of Lion Lager. What I particularly loved is the outdoor shower that is shaped into a waterfall and it actually works for a refreshing shower. Looking up you see the coconut tree that Banda gets his coconuts from which partly explains why his mother’s coconut sambal is so delicious. Our last night, Banda took us to the lake to watch the fireflies. I’ve been to firefly reserves before and nothing I’ve seen prepared me for this sight. It’s truly amazing and magical that I thought I was in some Bollywood or Chinese Drama. It sounds cliche but it’s all true and you can experience it at this amazing lodge.

We had to leave! We hated having to leave. Also if I had known that Banda’s mother’s cooking is the best food in our entire journey, I would have planned my trip in reverse so that we ended at Ama Eco Lodge. Our entire food journey in Sri Lanka has been a comparison of foods with his Mothers, which is the gold standard and everything else falls short. I would love to see this Lodge grow to using solar and a soap/shampoo multiuse bottle or pump to decrease the single use soaps etc. Also, while the dark room helps keep the heat out, it would be nice to have over bed soft lighting where the wood logs are.

Super cool property , loved the outdoor bathroom!

Wow the lodge was very unique and cosy with a rainforest feel. The outdoor bathroom took some getting used to, but we ended up really loving it. The bed is on the bottom of a loft so it remains cool throughout the night. There is AC which was helpful during the day. Dinner was absolutely delicious and cooked by Banda's mum. Banda, the owner, was super accommodating and provided us welcome fruit juices. Thank you Banda for a wonderful stay!

We had one Night in the Ama Eco Lodge and it was so very nice! We felt very welcomed and the host and his family are so friendly! The Lodge itself has AC and a Fan. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is like on the pictures with a nice bathtube. In addition we had the possibilty to have a delicious dinner and breakfast! We definetly can recommend the lodge!

A beautiful property! Such a quirky, fun jungle lodge! The outdoor bathroom was so memorable. Our host Banda was exceptionally friendly and helpful.

+ Eco Lodge is exactly like on the pictures + very hygienic and clean place + wonderful terrace + jungle feeling (plants and animals) + fresh coconut and mango juice + very good breakfast (best pancakes ever) + very good curry for dinner + Banda the host and his family are extremely helpful and nice + Banda organised drivers for transport between the hotes (incl. sightseeing) and a driver for elephant safari

The Amo Eco lodge is surrounded by amazing plant & animal life! The owner Banda is extremely friendly & helpful with suggesting places to visit & transport Breakfast is varied & tasty & we had 2 evening meals cooked by Banda's mum which was excellent. We really enjoyed our 2 nights here & would definitely recommend staying here if your planning to visit Sigiria.

A comfortable chair would be useful to sit outside but we did use the chairs from the balcony area for comfort.

If you need a sign to book Ama Eco Lodge, this is your sign. We had an amazing stay with Banda and his family. Banda helped us a lot, gave us a lot of tips (Anu's Mom restaurant!) and he and his brother drove us around when able. The lodge is brandnew, clean and the bed is very nice. Breakfast is until now the best we had in Sri Lanka. So fresh.

We spent two absolutely wonderful nights at Ama Eco Lodge. This is a one room lodge on the beautiful property of the host, Banda, surrounded by lush gardens and palm trees and in a perfect location. The lodge is beautifully designed and very comfortable, and we particularly enjoyed showering under the stars. Banda is an exceptional host. He arranged a wonderful itinerary for us, encompassing Kaudulla National Park (we had an amazing Safari and saw over 100 elephants!), Lion Rock, and Polonnaruwa. His local knowledge was invaluable in helping us with arrangements. His enthusiasm and knowledge about the natural area is wonderful, he showed us the fireflies at the village lake and the weaver birds in a nearby field. We also ate dinner there both nights, which was delicious! The breakfasts each morning were our favorite in Sri Lanka — maybe the best fruit we have ever had! We highly recommend saying at Ama Eco Lodge, our only regret was not being able to stay for another night! Thank you Banda and family!

It was the best place we stayed at during our time in Sri Lanka! Banda is so nice, extremely caring, he told us so many interesting things about Sri Lanka and Sigiriya. The food is cooked by his mother and it was one of the best dishes we had during our entire trip. The house is also completely new and very clean. You should definitely come here if you can. Couldn’t be better :)

Very friendly and helpful owner. Beautiful place with amazing garden. It’s very clean!!! So far the best stay we’ve had in SriLanka. Delicious breakfast (with fresh fruits from the garden) and great hospitality! Pleasant surprise. Owner gave us a flashlight and told us about nearby lake where we can see fireflies. We did and also spotted a crocodile swimming in the lake(little night safari was great!) We heard that sometimes you can see wild elephants at night or early morning.

He made us feel at home and was really helpful at any stage of our stay - food was amazing and really generous, all cooked by Banda’s mum - the lodge is very well crafted with an open bathroom, a terrasse in the middle of a beautiful garden and a balcony from where you can spot monkeys or tucanos - location is a bit remote and close to a lake. We really enjoyed the peaceful and natury vibe of the place

The room is beautiful, and the garden outside looks like you are in the middle of the jungle. The breakfast is everyday different with a lot of local dishes. The owner is really friendly and we enjoyed having conversations with him :)

No AC and the place was really hot, but luckily there is the fan. The mosquitos outside during evening time are a lot so make sure to close the door (even in the bathroom) if you don’t want to get bite all night long :’)

Wow! Such beautiful accomodation in the most magical setting. Our stay at Ama Eco Lodge was nothing short of amazing. Banda, our host, and his wife were so kind and helpful— organising tuk tuk’s, showing us local spots and cooking us the most delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts each morning. It is perfectly located to explore Lion’s Rock and the Dambulla Cave Temple. The accommodation itself was heavenly. The outdoor bathroom has a beautiful shower and big tub— perfect for cool baths under the palm trees after a long day of exploring. The patio out front, where meals are served, is surrounded by lush plants and trees of every kind! This meant lots of wildlife coming to visit, even a toucan!

Owner was very accommodative n very soft spoken. Served us with welcome drink. Breakfast was a huge portion. Bathroom was super huge, super clean n so beautiful.

Afternoon was a little hot n humid, only had fan. Bathroom bathtab no hot water.

Great place! We had booked two nights and wanted to extend! This place is so beautiful! If you are looking for a place to recharge, I would recommend this place. This unique complex has one room, so you will enjoy an exclusive experience. The bathroom is amazing and the room super clean. The location is perfect and the garden beautiful. The owner is super nice, a.o. he prepared last-minute a diner, he saw that I was tired after a trip and gave us a juice and he gave a wonderfull night tour, all without expacting anything in return.

The accommodation was a dream. we have never felt so comfortable there. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable and the host was so friendly, helpful and courteous and has a very big heart. We can absolutely recommend this accommodation to everyone. We really enjoyed the exchange and the talks and would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Bandha and his family. This place is unique!!! Not only the location is peaceful and quiet but the family who runs it is simply adorable. They made our stay so comfortable and unforgettable!! Banda is such a great host, he's very attentive and helpful. Always ready to offer whatever U need and with a big smile in his face 🙂 he took us to watch the sunrise at Pidurangala Rock, helped us to organise a Safari tour to see the elephants at Hurulu Eco Park, got us an appointment for a massage and drove us there, found us a place to exchange money and even dropped us at the bus station the day we left, not before making sure that we saw the Golden Temple at Dambulla and waited for us. Breakfast are delicious and made with love, we could feel in every gesture that they are happy when guests are happy. As happy as I was with the coconut curry and the majestic outdoor bath 😄 Absolutely fantastic!! On top of this I was having my bday while there and they prepared me a surprise party with balloons, flowers, a cake with my name on it and they even put in my head a leaf crown made by them. This was simply unexpected and U guys made my day as one I will never forget!! Thanks for dancing and celebrating with me, U are beautiful people inside out! I've travelled a lot in my life and from the bottom of my heart, I've never found a place like this so I totally recommend it to everyone (plus there is a lake just 2 min walking where U can enjoy the sunset and see lots of fireflies at night) Thanks again for everything Banda & family, U are angels! 💙

This place is a Garden of Eden! It is so beautifully built, so comfortable and quiet, that it had become one of my most favorite places in the world! The host is sooo helpful and friendly, like I have never experienced it anywhere else before. He arranged everything we needed, helped when our TukTuk broke down and even drove us around for free, when we didn’t feel safe enough to drive ourselves (at night time there were wild elephants on the road). There was even a huge male elephant passing by one night and Banda (the host) called us to see it. The bed is super comfortable and in the morning we were woken either by the wonderful singing of birds or the two Tucans that visit the balcony on the upper floor every other day and knock on the glass. Behind the house (2min walking distance) is a beautiful lake where you can swim, watch the sunset and at night time see an enormous amount of blinking fireflies in the surrounding trees. The garden surrounding the house gives you a feeling of sleeping in the middle of the jungle and the sounds of the many birds bring this idyllic paradise to completion. Breakfast was so good every day and we absolutely recommend having also lunch and dinner here, as it was the best cooking we tasted in whole Sigiriya and also by far the cheapest. You can ask for special wishes of what you want to eat and they will prepare it exactly as you like (in huge amounts). An absolute highlight was the open air bathroom 🤩 I would give full 10 Stars if possible and I definitely will come back here whenever I am near Sigiriya 😃

lack of hot water

Bando is the most amazing, helpful and kind host. The food is fantastic. The rooms huge (w/ great balcony too on our room). The shower is the best we’ve had here. It’s great location for going to the lion rock and other stuff in the area (also recommend the village tour near the accommodation too - another highlight of our trip). Also lovely to sit and read a book/ get a bit of work done (if you’re a digital nomad, this place is a hidden gem). Wish we’d been able to stay much longer but we’ll definitely be back! Insane value for money. Book it - their reviews and high score say all you need to know!

We really liked sigirya and the house where we stayed. For those who like nature close by, it's perfect. The room is big enough and the bed is comfortable. beautiful natural bathroom. There is a loft with trees to spend the evening very quietly. We spent one day but very happily. The owner of the Cottage even made himself available to pick us up in City on arrival, as well as to take us in his tuk tuk to all places.It Is Free Of Charge .

We had the most amazing time. The Cottage is beautiful! Ideally situated in the Place In Sigiriya, you are close to all attractions by Walking Distance The Cottage is in a beautiful and quit. Staying there for one day is not enough for us but we had to leave it for our future trips we had planned. Very beautiful quiet environment friendly and can stay there with free mind.

It is a very Eco-friendly place located in a very attractive and beautiful environment. They treated us to a very refreshing breakfast which included various village dishes.Also they Have A Natural Wash room With Bathing Tub which is positioned in such a way that can see the natural environment. after wakes up in the morning to can listen the sweet sounds of many birds and other animals. Bando Was A super Guy, he always sacrifices himself for our interests.Thank You Bando Highly Recommended
