It was very close to race venue

We didn't get the wifi code, even after requesting it via watsapp Also, the morning after breakfast were told that we didnt pay our account, but we've paid on arrival.

The breakfast was very nice - please just remove the oats option as it is not available anymore. The taps in the shower were closed very tightly, and we struggled to get them open. Turns out they were closed this tightly because the shower head is leaking. Please fix the taps to prevent water wastage. The beds were comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Please fix the taps in the shower and the window in the bedroom with the single beds - it rattled quite a lot during the night with the wind blowing.

The staff are very friendly, and our breakfasts were delicious. The view from our room and from the dining facilities was amazing. It is also very close to all facilities outside the guest house.

The self-catering unit was lacking some kitchen elements; for example, there was no grater for cheese, the knives need sharpening, and there was no checklist of what items are in the kitchen. The shower taps are very tight, and after a shower, the shower head drips unless you tighten the tap with extreme force.

Location is prime spot, walking distance from the square, hiking trails and shops. Allowed for one night booking Breakfast was delicious

The mattresses in the bedrooms are terrible The main bed mattress rolls two people into the middle of the mattress and is incredibly soft. Getting to the plugs under the bed was a mission as the electric blankets and heaters were unplugged. And we were visiting over the snow week. The microwave in the kitchen had a fish smell which lingered.

I liked the environment with the tranquility of the lake and the horses not forgetting the eateries nearby.the view from my room of the mountains was awesome. Last but not least the breakfast fit for a king all included in the price which was exceptional for the price.

I didn't like that the water from shower was lukewarm and the pressure was very low so it was awkward for me to really have a good shower and being winter 3 degrees Celsius I would have preferred a lovely hot shower with full pressure.

I really like the staff, the animals and the view. Overall the vibe of the guest home was very nice and cute.

The water pressure wasn’t too grate and the water spout was abit small in the shower.

Very poor hospitality. waitress didn’t even introduced themselves to us.I finally asked their names on the 4day.We were served burnt toast and when my daughter asked for extra 1 slice she was scolded for eating too much.Only 2 slices allowed.I think Nono just felt she didn’t like us at first site.She would just pass me in the morning without greeting.How can someone serve you food without greeting you that’s why I decided to leave a day early.

The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were so friendly. The staff made it a wonderful experience

Main bed mattress is finished and need replacement slept in a ship and struggled to get hold of host expected arrival was 14h00 no one to accept us we didn't also know where to park ,upon arrival of host quick induction

Surely that Brad Pitt stayed there was a plus but it is in walking distance of the centre and has a beautiful few.

It is very close to everything, and the house is beautiful. It has the potential to be a quaint little guesthouse with a beautiful view of a pond and the mountains.

I didn't feel like it was very clean. The bedding and towels didn't smell clean, it kind of smelt like sweat, so I'm not sure if they just didn't dry properly, but it was a bit off putting. The staff is very loud, which kind of ruins the serenity the place is supposed create. Overall the place just didn't feel clean with spider webs in the corners etc. and it could definitely use an upgrade like in the bathrooms.

The only thing I liked was an electric blanket.

Check in was a mess. They sent me a message asking what time was I gonna arrive so that they assist with check in and all that and I replied. But when I got there I had to call regarding check in, the lady said she sent me pictures of which apartment to go to. But even today I never received those pictures, we thought it was network issues that’s why I didn’t receive them then but I never received them. I had to call her again and figure out which apartment to go to. Bath tub had old stains, it looks gross. The whole place didn’t look like it was prepared for people to check in. There were other people’s belongings under the bench in the main bedroom (socks and sunglasses). If we found another place we were not gonna stay 2 nights, as soon as we arrived we knew we didn’t wanna stay there.

The staff were really friendly, Thank you Thabiso for exceeding our expectations.

The unit we were in was visibly damp and there was black mould on the walls in the larger room particularly, which caused asthma in a child.

The place is situated quite nicely and walking distance from everything.

The place is outdated to start. The heater in the bathroom is 100% a hazard. We also booked and paid for a much larger room. When we arrived, we were placed in a MUCH smaller room and weren’t even fairly reimbursed for the discrepancy.

The place was very comfortable and neat. Exceptional view of the mountains, exactly what you need to just unwind and relax. The breakfast was very good and tastefull. Thank you and we'll done.

I love the great communication from the Manager, Kerry-Ann. She is exceptional. The services are awesome too.

The place is near to all amenities, attractions, restaurants, and entertainment venues I needed to be. The bedding clean

There was an unpleasant, odor coming from the carpet on the right side of the bed as you enter. I noticed it clearly while sitting to charge my phone. Additionally, the pillows provided were not clean.

Would have preferred off street parking for my bike, security guard did however watch over it through the night making sure it was safe.

Beautiful setting

The food, the place is exactly as advertised. The location is closer to the CBD and activities.

The was no one to welcome us, the Manager was not there, she couldn't even take calls but just whatsapp messages. We left the place without even seeing her or hearing from her. So it was very uncomfortable to walk into a place that was unlocked, and there was no one to welcome and show us around.

We had a really nice stay. Beautiful views. Thick carpet and underfloor heating made the room lovely and warm in the cold evenings. Electric blankets and warm towels. All you need is provided. Great breakfast with good strong tea. Walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Would suggest a multiplug to make it easier to use the kettle and extension to make it easier to reach switches for bedlamps.

The fridge in the room was unfortunately very noisy, had to switch it off to sleep.

Weather and I did not take warm clothes

Friendly people, nice breakfast, electric blankets were great, kitchen well equipped, beds very clean.

Mould on walls, bathtub was very stained, didn't use it, felt unclean, shower was dripping all day and night, doorhandle of the flat was loose and broken, door from kitchen to the 2 bedroom room didn't close.

Warm hospitality from the time we arrived till we left .Aus Nono and Angel were super friendly and helpful ,they were almost like our tour guides. The room was clean and spacious ,breakfast on time and delicious. The place is near everything we wanted to do.i will definitely go back because of the warm welcome.

Not well maintained, bed exceptionally uncomfortable.. felt like sleeping a hollow. Mattres is a foam mattress, after 15 minutes lying down we had a sinking feeling. Room smelled terribly mouldy and damp. Really really bad smell. Beautiful building but room 7 is poorly maintained. We struggled sleeping because of the smell. Bathrooms taps were loose, toilet kept on running after flushing. Black mould on the ceilings in places and the damp is clearly visible on some walls. Front door couldn' close properly, swollen from the damp. The cushions on the beds and couch, not the pillows, smells terribly. Sliding bathroom door, main bed, kept on falling off it's rails or getting stuck. Beautiful setting, beaitiful building Time for some serious maintenance and upgrading of the facilities.

Lovely place, clean and well positioned with amazing views. Breakfast was decent and overall good value for money. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

The duty manager was very accommodating and allow us to check out later since we checked in so late. Also, the gardener cleaned our car without me asking him to do so. Really appreciated that. The location was stunning. So beautiful to be in that nature.

The shower was not working very well. Not spraying properly but we did have the hand shower in the bath as an option. The breakfast was okay although Angel was amazing.

The stay in the 2-bedroom chalet was good, comfortable with everything you need for self-catering. Breakfast was included and was very nice and welcome.

When we got there, we were soaking wet because of the rain we had on the way, and we were on a motorcycle. Nobody was there to meet us, even though I indicated that we would be arriving between 14:00 and 15:00. We arrived at 14:20. It was still raining heavily while we waited there. There was a number to call. Thobitso (not sure about the spelling of his name), a laborer, found us and called the number for me as my phone's battery had died on the way there. There was no answer. The manageress did phone back after a little while and told me she was in Bethlehem at the moment. She sent the laborer to fetch a key from somewhere. We waited, wet, in a small kitchen used by the staff as it was raining heavily and we were soaking. He came back in about an hour, also soaking wet. So, thank you, Thobitso, for your help, and sorry you had to go out in that pouring rain for an oversight by management. Kerry-Anne did send a message later on to hear if we were settled in. We didn't see her at all for the three nights we were staying there, and there was no apology for what happened.

The beds need to be replaced, the mattress collapsed into the middle and was extremely uncomfortable and almost impossible to sleep.

Breakfast was delicious and quite large enough to sustain one through the day till supper time. The view from my front door was supreme (gazing out over the pond with its abundant birdlife and horses opposite the guest house, with the majestic mountains in the background). Minimum traffic noise and a very quiet neighbourhood ensured that one could enjoy an excellent night's rest with the sound of crickets serving as a lullaby, and birdsong in the morning being Nature's gentle alarm clock. Also, within walking distance of the CBD, with a supermarket and several restaurants being quite nearby. And above all, the friendliness of each and every staff member I met during my stay contributed to my time at Lake Clarens Guest House being a wonderful experience,

The repetitive nature of breakfast (same bacon, eggs, baked beans, chips and toast) for 6 days in a row got a bit boring. But my main point of complaint is that the buildings themselves are starting to look a bit run-down. Exterior features (roofs, window frames, facias etc) are in dire need of a fresh coat of paint, while the walls and ceiling of one of the two bathrooms in my unit were showing distinct spots of mold. And in the kitchenette, the light switch broke on the second day of my stay when I pulled the cord hanging from the ceiling to switch on the light

The garden executive washed my car without me asking. What a pleasure that was... you have to love that. That was very special. I didn't like, not liking this place. So Gorgeous.

Right at the entrance to the village makes its easy to pop down to the shops to get supplies. Good breakfasts served with 2 helpful staff on hand to see to any needs,

The self catering unit is very dated and starting to look a bit run down. Old furniture and fittings dont match the price paid to stay. Cracked tiles and old carpets dont do the sinuses any favours. The outside and gardens are lovely but the interior of the unit really needs a refresh.

Very well located guesthouse with beautiful views over the lake. Having breakfast in the well tendered garden was a treat.

The place could be improved with an upgrade so it can compete with the other accommodation in the town.

It was perfectly near our main activities, it was easy to locate and also near the shops. It was clean and staff friendly.

The other 2 rooms were quite far from the other 2 but nonetheless we made it work.

Superbly located for access to Clarens town and surrounding attractions, like Golden Gate National Park. Bedroom 1 was ideally positioned for a mobility challenged guest. The staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. It was very reassuring to know there was a security guard on duty at night, although we felt safe at all times. Great to have breakfast included, especially as it was well managed and delicious. Having a clean car was a much appreciated bonus and surprise.

The check-in procedure could easily be simplified and communicated in advance. A simple guide to the town would be very helpful - just an A4 page with 'insider tips', like a basic map, the fact that many shops are closed on Monday and Tuesday, suggested restaurants/craft shops and a couple of walking routes. Clarens has huge potential as a tourist destination. We hope it finds a way to fulfill it.

When i arrived at time arranged, nobody in sight. No receptionist, no reception area ( marked) luckily a guest gave me a number to call and find out where my " unmarked" room was. Maintainance manager needs a wake up call. Bathroom rail loose and collapsed 1st evening. Next day replaced but not tightened, just pushed back, ready to collapse again

Das einzige, was an den Glanz vergangener Tage erinnert ist die schöne Aussenanlage. Ansonsten ist ein Aufenthalt hier aus meiner Sicht keinesfalls zu empfehlen. Hier lohnt es sich, die restlichen Bewertungen gut durchzulesen. Es steckt oftmals ein kleines Stück Wahrheit in der geäusserten Kritik. So auch hier. Der schlechteste Aufenthalt während unserer 4 Wochen durch Südafrika.

Wie waren nicht zufrieden mit unserem Zimmer und haben die Vermieterin kontaktiert. Sie hat es nicht für nötig erachtet, sich persönlich um unser Problem zu kümmern. Vor dem Zimmer befindet sich ein Sitzbereich, Tisch und 4 Stühle. Die Möbel sind alt und kaputt. Auch ein weiterer Sitzplatz war defekt. Wir haben uns dann vor Ort eine andere Unterkunft gesucht. Alles in allem : enttäuschend
