Reviewed Sep 16, 2026One of the best boutique hotels we have ever stayed in. Welcome drink on arrival, beautiful gardens, lovely large room with nice outdoor terrace. Two pools. Honesty bar and snacks in the afternoon. Fabulous friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Steven and team.

Reviewed Sep 13, 2026Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und das Deluxe Zimmer war geräumig und hübsch ausgestattet. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet.
Zu bemerken, es wird kein Abendessen angeboten. Jedoch gibt es in Gehdistanz genügend Restaurants, die auch abends gut zu Fuss erreichbar sind.

Reviewed Aug 23, 2026The hotel is in a very nice & quiet road in the middle of town . Our room had an indoor fireplace ( fire wood is supplied ) overlocking the pool . Just beautiful. The breakfast was amazing and all the staff & manager were super friendly & helpful.

Reviewed Aug 20, 2026We came to Franschoek to celebrate my partner's birthday. So happy we chose Franschoek, even happier we chose Plumwood. They made his day special from morning at breakfast until the turndown. The breakfast was amazing. We were a walking distance to the restaurants and shops in the main street. The establishment was very clean and the STAFF AMAZING. Each one of them made our stay very special. There will be many happy returns!

The honor bar was a nice touch sat the end of the night Two minutes to get into town and loads of places to eat and drink. IF you want the wine trolley five minute walk. Taxis to nearby vineyards about 9-12 dollars

Reviewed Jul 12, 2026Die Lage, zwei Blocks von Hauptstraße, und der Blick auf das Tal und die gegenüber ligenden Berge war wunderbar. Alles mit Liebe ausgestattet und sehr sauber.
Eigentlich, nur, dass wir im Winter und nur eine Nacht dort waren. Zur Zeit wird der Haupteingang renoviert, deshalb ist der Eingang in der parallelen Wilhelminastraße. Ein junger Mann, der an der Straßenecke stand, hat uns geholfen den Eingang zu finden. Dafür, daß er wie ein olympischer Sprinter vor unserem Auto gelaufen ist haben wir ihn belohnt. Mit den 100 Rand (ca 5 €) in der Tasche ist er glücklich nachhause gelaufen.

Reviewed Jun 6, 2026Uns hat alles gefallen. Wir hatten ein tolles Zimmer mit schönem Ausblick und einem Kamin. Dieser hat es sehr gemütlich gemacht. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und umfangreich. Nachmittags gab es leckeren Kuchen. Gesicherter Parkplatz am Hotel.

When we got there we were shown around and explained all the facilities etc. Lots of attention to detail I.e Dream cards on pillows, Free cake for tea ( which was really yummy) We will definitely go back to this hotel if in the area again.

Reviewed Apr 14, 2026This was our second visit and it was just as good. Plumwood is ideally located at the centre of Franschhoek in a residential area with lots of restaurants and wineries nearby. Lovely gardens and pool, great breakfast, great rooms and friendly team. The Wine Tram terminal is about a 20 min walk.
It is getting more expensive.

The hotel was perfectly located in a peaceful street in easy walking distance from the many lovely shops and restaurants on the Main Street. Delightful staff and delicious breakfast.

The room we had did not have a lot of plug points for gadgets.

My guest who occupied my second room for one night was late for breakfast by 5 minutes and the chef refused to make her breakfast. I found this ridiculous especially given the fact that she was occupying a room I had booked for two people who never pitched and therefore I lost all the breakfast money for the 4 days and the only time there is someone iojn the room and they are 5 minutes late the hotel refuses to make her breakfast

Just of note, the pool doesn't get much sunshine during the evening when you might want to use it. Hairdryer didn't work but I'm sure that would have been replaced if we asked!

Quiet & comfortable bedroom, stylish common areas, excellent WIFI speed (we needed to work whilst we were staying here), and pretty garden & pool areas. Excellent breakfast selection. Highly recommend

Reviewed Dec 2, 2025The staff were fantastic. The hotel is super laid back with two lovely pools. The vibe is chilled. The location is exceptional for the wine lands. Perfect boutique hotel with lots of thoughtful touches ie free afternoon cake and an honesty bar.
We had a room above reception which perhaps wasn’t as airy as some of the others near the pool.
