Homely feel, character, helpful staff and the location

Staff were super friendly and welcoming. We were wondering whether there was a fridge in our room and five minutes later one of the staff members showed up with a fridge in his arms. We received an upgrade and I was super happy with it because the views from the room were stunning. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was served in a nice room and the food was good. The location was excellent.

Perfect location for exploring shops and walking to dinner. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it for an extra night. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We also enjoyed the pool and nearby wineries.

Waiting for a cooked breakfast for 40 minutes that’s did not arrive, so had to up and leave to find our own in town

Room was beautiful and well designed and decorated. Staff were very friendly.

The room i booked on booking.com said it had a private pool, but our room didnt have this. We didn’t raise this at the time but were expecting the room to reflect the photos of the room i had booked. Breakfast could have been better.

Amazing stay here, staff were all very friendly and attentive (especially JB). Stored our luggage as we arrived early and allowed us to freshen up ready for lunch before the room was ready. Hotel and room were exceptional. Walking distance to restaurants, shops and wine tram station. Lots of vineyards were an easy uber drive away too. Staff offered some great restaurant recommendations too. Breakfast was also a nice addition. Would definitely recommend staying here whilst in Franschhoek.

Great location, beautiful old building, good pool area, good breakfast.

We had booked a superior pool room particularly because we wanted our own pool as a birthday treat but were given a superior deluxe room on arrival as it was the only room left (room 9), a loft room without a private pool. Our stay was then severely disrupted by animals clearly living in the roof which you could hear running about all day and throughout the night when trying to sleep. We raised this with the staff on reception and asked to move rooms but were told in the morning it wasn't possible to move as the hotel was full (but that they had had the same complaint before and tried to close a hole in the roof previously). When the noise continued we raised again in the evening we were told by a different staff member we would have been able to move if we'd raised earlier in the day! The reception staff also did very little to deal with our complaint, we were told one of them would be ringing the manager and asking maintenance to take a look, but heard nothing after this. We understand the people in the room before us had moved out the night before because of the noise of the squirrels - this is clearly an issue the hotel is aware of yet they continue to overbook the hotel / use that room. It would have been polite to have been warned. Avoid room 9!

Incredible location, secured parking spaces out the front of the property. The location is one street back from the main road in Franschhoek which is exactly where you want to be (we have visited Franschhoek around 10x)

A fridge in the room would be great, but that is being very picky!!!

Everything was fine. The only problem we had were the stairs. We specifically sent a message requesting a ground floor room as my husband had just had his knee replaced. We were told that it would be arranged. But on arriving we were told that we were to go upstairs and you were fully booked. Disappointed!

The hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel. The facilities are all comfortable with stunning mountain views from the rooms, dining-bar area and poolside.

You are given a lovely welcome and tour of the facility. Great suggestion about restaurants nearby. Their location is perfect. Just a short walk to to the centre of town. They are super helpful and so accommodating. It is a just ask us culture and we will do our best to accommodate. There is a spa on site where we enjoyed massages. The breakfast was lovely and the entire experience was peaceful.

We moved rooms in the middle of our stay at their request. It was sold and an upgrade, but they clearly needed our room for other guests, and we did not mind. I did not mind either room, however the first one was more to my liking. It had a separate toilet in the bathroom, which is a huge plus and the beds were more comfortable. We lost the bench ottoman at the bottom of the bed, which was a nice to have, and we had nobody staying on either side of us or above us. The new room had a bigger pool which was nice.

Very well appointed in terms of walking in and around Franchoek. My husband has mobility issues but could manage most of the steps and levels here. We had a large room with its own dip pool and patio. Lovely. The communal swimming pool is large enough for excercise too!

Mooie kamer in het oude gedeelte van het hotel sfeervol ingericht.

Manager van het hotel negeerde ons compleet. Bij het ontbijt besteedde hij veel aandacht aan vooral Engelse gasten bij het ontbijt. Hele verhalen van hoe gaat het; goed geslapen; wat gaan jullie doen; delen van leuke tips etc. Telkens als wij iets wilde bestellen moesten we er om vragen en best wel lang wachten. Geen één keer heeft hij de moeite genomen om ons iets te vragen!!Bij het uitchecken (ook door de manager) werd ook niks gevraagd; hoe was jullie verblijf? wat zijn jullie plannen? ook geen goede reis gewenst. Ronduit onbeschoft. Stuur die man op een cursus communiceren met klanten. Normaliter verblijven wij in The Belmont, prachtige kamers met een super service. Wij reizen ontzettend veel maar dit heb ik nog nooit meegemaakt.

we didn't stay here as there was an overbooking! they tried to get us to stay one night and the other night in their sister hotel, which was a lower grade. We weren't interested in that and went to another hotel

Location was excellent for us and the children room was lovely. The room my husband an I shared upstairs was lovely. Food was great too.

Our room was situation upstairs close to the coffee machine. We were woken both mornings to the sound of music being played. Sound travels to that bedroom and twice I had to ask for it to be turned down. That was annoying when you have come to relax and sleep in. The floor in one area had a hair and dust. It could have been more thoroughly cleaned.

The staff were outstanding, the room was spacious and clean, and nicely appointed. Breakfast was excellent.

This is terribly subjective, but we felt our room was somewhat lacking in charm. The rooms in the old part of the property are perhaps more charming , but we swopped to a room in the newer section because the room we were initially allocated in the original house was without outlook and felt enclosed and, to be honest, a bit contrived.

Our room was right by reception and noisy. It felt like an extra back room instead of a 5stat establishment room. The aircon started leaking late afternoon and the staff offered a bucket. The dripping through the night was awful. I specifically booked a living journey establishment due to my amazing experience in Robertson, but this has left me very disappointed.

Não havia frigobar no quarto, quando reservei não me atentei a esse detalhe. A falta de suco de laranja e de água (mesmo para comprar), mas como fiquei só uma diária, não foi um grande incômodo, mas deve ter sido algo muito pontual, porque não me parece que um hotel tão bem cuidado tenha isso com frequência. A minha cama (o box) rangia ao ao sentar na ponta. Não era do colchão. Só detalhes, não incomodou para dormir.

Nice, small historical hotel with good service and friendly, supportive staff. The location is close to the main street of Franschhoek but quiet. Restaurants and shops are close by.

Our room was in the old building (a new one is also there), aged and a bit smelly / musty. The old aircon was leaking into the TV below what caused a shortcut. For a hotel claiming for 5 stars and asking for corresponding rates, the room was not appropriate (more 2 stars rather than 5). Dinner is only a small selection and needs advance booking for preparation. We booked in advance for one evening but it was forgotten to prepare.

Location is absolutely perfect - 1 street back from the Main Street where everything is, car parking is secured and bang outside the front door, staff are amazing. Really good complimentary breakfast, room had TV with DSTV/NetFlix/Prime/YouTube in addition to having USB sockets for charging

The bed was too firm for us, but other than that I genuinely cannot complain, I have been going to Franschhoek for 10 years and its probably the best place we have stayed, booked to go again in February

The staff were excellent, the hotel was characterful, clean and comfortable. We left too early for breakfast but they very kindly made us boxes to take away. Really enjoyed our brief stay.

Chapter House is an exceptional blend of old world charm and modern luxury, situated walking distance from the town centre.

Wonderful place can't recommend it enough. The staff lovely, rooms gorgeous so tastefully decorated food delicious and location fabulous right in the centre of town.

The front door bell should be silenced as we were right next to it and disturbed us.
