Os funcionários muito prestativos, o hotel fica na ilha de Elephant, mas para ir até o hotel é só pegar um barquinho, sai a cada 5 minutos e custa 15 libras egípcias. Fiquei num apartamento inteiro, mas só usei o quarto de casal. Tudo conforme descrito.

I stayed at Basmatic Nubian Guest House for 5 nights and absolutely loved it. The owner and the staff are really friendly and hospitable. The view of the blue Nile with mango trees around it with the beautiful Aga Khan Mausoleum in front made it perfect for my stay. I stayed on the rooftop most of the time, and even on the hottest days with temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius, the cool breeze made it possible to enjoy the rooftop for most of the day. The food was also quite amazing. Every single day, I had dinner at Basmatic Nubian Guest House and tried various versions of Tagine. If you are looking for a quite, peaceful, serene place to sit in silence and enjoy the view with your book or experience the quite life of Nubians, this is a wonderful spot in Aswan. The island is not too far from Aswan city and crossing with ferry cost 15 EGP only (one-way). For your arrival and departure, Mohamed provide a boat free-of-charge, and is very flexible and accommodating. Excellent value-for-money and I highly recommend this place.

La posizione è senza dubbio il principale punto di forza di questo hotel. Situato nella parte più autentica e naturalistica dell’Isola Elefantina, permette di vivere un’esperienza immersa nella tranquillità del Nilo senza rinunciare alla comodità di Assuan, facilmente raggiungibile grazie ai traghetti pubblici che collegano l’isola alla città dall’alba fino a mezzanotte al costo di soli 15 pound egiziani a tratta. La terrazza del ristorante, dove viene servita anche la colazione, offre una vista straordinaria su uno dei tratti più suggestivi del fiume. Le camere sono accoglienti, pulite e dotate di tutti i comfort essenziali: un’ottima connessione Wi-Fi, aria condizionata e ventilatori a soffitto. Per gli ospiti europei può forse mancare il bidet, ma si tratta di un dettaglio trascurabile rispetto al fascino complessivo del luogo. Tutto intorno si respira un’atmosfera ancora autenticamente rurale. I vicoli sabbiosi si snodano tra le tradizionali case nubiane, in un villaggio che conserva la propria identità nonostante la crescente popolarità turistica della zona. A meno di due minuti di traghetto dal centro di Assuan, l’isola rappresenta un’alternativa sorprendente al traffico e alla vivacità della città. Passeggiare tra le sue stradine significa scoprire un ambiente accogliente, popolato da persone di grande gentilezza e da numerosi animali domestici lasciati liberi di muoversi all’interno della comunità: capre, pecore, galline, anatre, oche, muli..! Non ci sono coccodrilli, tranquilli! Quelli si trovano solo oltre la Diga Alta verso Abu Simbel e il Sudan. L’Isola Elefantina ospita inoltre diversi ristoranti e caffè, oltre a un’interessante area archeologica a cielo aperto e liberamente accessibile se ci si perde un po’ tra le case e i cortili. È una destinazione consigliata a chi desidera conoscere un Egitto più autentico, al di fuori delle rotte turistiche convenzionali che seguono il corso del Nilo tra Luxor e Abu Simbel.

L'hospitalité de l'hôte, sa gentillesse et sa bienveillance. Les logements sont propres, les chambres climatisées, et le rooftop vous offre une carte postale chaque soir! Les habitants de l'île elephantine sont gentils et bienveillants.

The location was fantastic: very easily accessible from the city, close to an archaeological site, and both lively and peaceful. It was a beautiful Nubian house that had a superb terrace, amazing kitchen - some of the best food we have tasted in Egypt, great rooms (the beds, towels and linen were extremely comfortable), and a great community that made us feel safe and welcome. The hosts were some of the friendliest and most helpful people we’ve met in Egypt. They spoke great English, welcomed us with delicious hibiscus drinks, didn’t bother us when we wanted some privacy on the terrace, invited us to watch the Egypt-Australia game with them, and even helped my friend who felt sick and needed fruit by going to Aswan and getting plenty of it.

There was no air conditioning within the living room, and the hot water went off at one point.

We had a lovely stay in Aswan thanks to Muhammed and his family! The apartment was spacious, clean, and overall excellent value for money Elephantine island is calm and relaxing, and the view of the dunes and the Nile from the hostel is absolutely gorgeous. The staff were incredibly attentive and always available to help. They arranged several day trips for us, which made everything completely stress-free. We especially loved the sunset felucca ride and our wonderful boat captains :) A special thank you to Hassan for taking us to the other side of the river early in the morning! We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Aswan 🌞

L’accueil que nous réserve cette famille nubienne est tout simplement parfait. Les chambres ressemblent à des petits appartements ou se trouve frigo,bouilloire. Les lits sont confortables et propres. La cuisine proposée sur place est savoureuse et il y a plusieurs terrasses pour profiter pleinement de la vue sur le Nil et de la brise . Le propriétaire est très sympa et parle très bien l’anglais. Il est de très bons conseils pour se promener à pieds ou en barque. Il met son bateau à disposition pour ses clients et propose des tarifs très abordables pour rejoindre les îles les plus éloignées. Nous avons regretté de ne pas rester davantage dans cette guest house familiale et très accueillante . Il y a une magnifique balade à faire de l’autre côté de la berge. Le propriétaire vous dépose gratuitement avec son bateau et vous pouvez marcher 1h dans le désert et visiter le monastère.

Vue splendide depuis la terrasse sur le Nil, du côté calme de l'île d'Eléphantine. Coucher de soleil sur la dune d'en face pendant qu'on regarde passer les felouques et que diverses espèces d'oiseaux volent et piaillent sur l'eau. Accueil très agréable, l'hôte est particulièrement sympathique et ouvert à la discussion. Le fait que l'hôte vient vous chercher et vous amène en bateau à l'hôtel est non seulement pratique, mais vous met automatiquement dans l'ambiance. Par la suite, il est très facile de marcher depuis l'hôtel jusqu'à l'arrêt du ferry qui vous ramène en quelques minutes à Assouan pour une somme très très modique. La tagine de poisson était délicieuse.

Les sols pourraient être un peu plus propres même si pas facile avec le sable ambiant. Il manquait une chaise dans chaque chambre, mais dès que la remarque a été faite, on nous en a donné une.

La possibilité du transfert privé selon l'horaire d'arrivée. Nous sommes arrivés vers 1h du matin. Accueil très agréable L'île est calme, vue sur le désert et le nil

Une famille chaleureuse et accueillante, disponible pour répondre à nos demandes. Le gérant Mohamed était très arrangeant et son cousin Ahmed très gentil. L’emplacement était parfait sur l’île Elephantine avec une vue magnifique depuis la chambre et le rooftop La chambre qui était finalement un petit appartement était très agréable, grande, soignée avec la Clim. Je recommande vivement pour un séjour sur l’île Elephantine

Fantastische, rustige ligging. Paradijselijke sfeer. Zeer gastvrije eigenaren en staf. Er worden eenvoudige maaltijden geserveerd, zodat je 's avonds niet op pad hoeft. Het guesthouse beschikt over motorboten waarmee ze je overal naartoe kunnen brengen.

Vooraf is de mogelijkheid om met een boot van het guesthouse te worden opgehaald bij de haven van de public ferry niet gemeld.

The outlook from the rooftop terrace was really lovely. The owner is very helpful and friendly and organised everything we needed.

An authentic Nubian riverside home. Clean, tidy, and cozy, with a rooftop terrace offering stunning views of the Nile. All around is silence and a real Nubian village, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Good value for the money.

Great and calm guest house in Nubian village of Elephantine island. All the team has been very kind, room was comfortable and lunches including breakfast were very good, on a rooftop with wonderful calm view. Thank you for everything.

Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit im Basmatic House mit netten Gesprächen auf der Dachterasse, Bootstouren zu Kamelen und Hunden und vielen tollen Tips rund um Assuan! Vielen Dank nochmal (vorallem) für die Geburtstagstorte :) Unsere Kinder haben es geliebt!

Die Insel hat Potential ist aber teilweise leider ein wenig rampunierr...sie könnte ein bisschen mehr "nette" Ecken vertragen (was aber mit dem Hotel nichts zu tun hat) und die Matratzen bedürften bald einen Austausch aber insgesamt war es dennoch eine wunderschöne Zeit die 10 Punkte allemal verdient! Ein bisschen Ausstattung von Beginn an in der Küche wäre schön aber es wurde auf Nachfrage sofort ALLES organisiert!

Mohamed and the staff are really lovely, friendly & helpful. Once we arrived after a long journey from Abu Simbel, the smile of Mohamed directly warmed up our heart and we felt very welcomed. The rooftop terrace offers a beautiful view over the Nile. The room was very spacious. Food options were decent.

The room was very basic. The hotel is a bit far from everything; so you don’t really venture elsewhere for dinner.

Very friendly and welcoming host that tried to accommodate all our needs. Mohammed arranged for our transfer from the airport late at night and our trip to Abu Simbel temple the next morning.The view from the rooftop was amazing especially during the sunset and so was the wonderful dinner that they prepared for us. Highly recommended!

Très bonne Guest House, appartement très confortable, accueil très gentil et facile, le bateau de l'hôtel vient bous chercher au débarcadère. Île elephantine très apaisante. Mohamed propose des activités et excursions (felouque, Philae, barrage etc) on peut se laisser guider. Le restaurant sur le rooftop avec vue incroyable sur le Nil, la vegetation et la rive ouest d'Assouan.

Pas grand chose. Seulement le fait d'avoir du redemander les prix pour les sorties car tout était oral et beaucoup d'infos données en même temps! Nous avons oublié la poussette dans le bateau de nuit.

Logement idéalement situé sur l'île Eléphantine. Personnel très agréable et disponible pour nous aider à organiser notre séjour. Vue magnifique depuis la terrasse sur le Nil. Bon petit déjeuner et très bon diner. Une très bonne adresse !

Die Lage auf Elephantine und der Blick von den Dachterrassen war phantastisch. Wir waren als Familie mit 7 Personen im Urlaub und bei Bedarfen und Wünschen von uns, wurde sehr flexibel und freundlich reagiert. Mit Freunden aus Assuan feierte ich meinen runden Geburtstag und das Hausteam hat uns ein super Frühstück gezaubert. Die Insel ist ein guter Ausgangsort für Ausflüge, ein Shuttle per Boot zum Festland ist sehr regelmäßig. Im Gasthaus wurden sehr faire Preise berechnet, für uns aus Deutschland momentan fast unanständig günstig. Am Abreisetag mussten wir 2Uhr von der Insel, das Hotel organisierte uns ein Boot und dann einen Busshuttle zum Airport, alles lief sehr zuverlässig.

Allgemein sei nur angemerkt: als Europäer kann es vorkommen, dass du im Straßenverkauf für Wasser o.ä. ein vielfaches auf den Tisch legst, wenn du die aktuellen Preise nicht kennst, oder keine einheimische Begleitung hast. Auch einer gewissen Aufdringlichkeit musst du widerstehen.

Nice family B&B on Elephantine Island with amazing view from 3rd floor terrace facing the sandy west bank. Small boat cruises exploring the famous first Nile cataract. Few minutes boat ride to island of El Nabatat with gorgeous Botanical Garden. Peaceful countryside area with no cars and motorbikes. Life as it once was - simplicity rules.

In Egypt is always a question of littering everywhere. In such a small community as Elephantine, there's no explanation for why there is so much uncollected garbage. Hope for better in the future. However, I strongly recommend this place!

The rooms are perfect and clean and are equipped with every necessary thing you can need, they are comfortable and the beds are also nice. The rooftop is amazing with beautiful views. Thank you so much to Haras was the best, he is a very kind person and helped us a lot. I really recommend this hotel a lot and the staff are super kind. The food was delicious and I didn’t have any problem in it.

La terrasse avec vue sur le Nil, l'amabilité de l'hôte... Le fait que l'hôte vienne vous chercher à l'embarcadère d'Assouan et vous y ramène gratuitement, y compris en pleine nuit.

The facilities were clean and had Nubian vibes all around. The manager, Muhammad, was friendly and gave us suggestions and helped us in booking cars to travel to Abu Simbel and later to Luxor. The apartment met our needs and the view of the Nile River was fantastic. The guest house provided free ferry rides while checking in and checking out to the main island.

The apartment is on the opposite side of the main island, so I had a bit of a walk to the local ferry. It's also within walking distance to good restaurants. It's on the quieter side of Elephantine Island. If you are walking back late at night, get some landmarks as the dirt paths all look the same, we got confused a few times but always take the well lit path. The locals are happy to help, everyone knows everything since it's a small island.

Emplacement très paisible, au calme sur l'île Elephantine, super ! Accessible en bateau avec magnifique vue sur le Nil. Personnel très accueillant, chaleureux et sympathique, un vrai plaisir ! Nous ne sommes restés qu'une nuit mais regrettons de ne pas y avoir fait au moins 2 nuits.

Si vous souhaitez loger sur l’île Elephantine je vous recommande le Basmatic. Le personnel est incroyablement gentil. Nous sommes arrivés très tard - presque 2:00 du matin à cause d’un retard d’avion - et la navette de l’établissement est venue sans problème nous chercher. Nous y avons laissé nos sacs le lendemain pour partir en excursion et à notre retour nous avons été reçus avec un jus d’hibiscus frais, le sourire aux lèvres! Merci encore même si nous aurions aimé y rester plus longtemps.

Salle de bain très petite par rapport à la grandeur de la chambre. On a cherché la douche cachée derrière la porte des toilettes.

The location was superb. Really quiet with great views. The staff were absolutely amazing too including the drivers and boat captains who took us to Abu Simbel, Luxor and Nubian village. The boat rides were the highlights with lovely wildlife and sunset views. Both Mohammad and his kids have made a place for themselves in ours hearts with heir big smiles and hospitality.

Nothing in particular. However we had really big suitcases and it was a nightmare for both us and the staff to carry them from the boats to the guest house because of the ruggedness of the island. That said, it was not their fault at all. Pillows could be harder but that’s personal preference too. One small area that they could improve (and this is constructive criticism) - we took a day trip to Abu Simbel and took some packed lunch which only had bread, packeted croissants and water. In general it would have been fine but it was an 11 hour round trip with literally nothing on the way where you could buy food so the packed lunch could be more wholesome with fruits and proper meals.

Very good location on the quiet side of the island, 5min to the ferry. Very good contact with the personel, always helpful and available, helped us book trip to Abu Simbel and transfer to Luxor. Clean apartment and warm at night. Kitchen annex could have some more utensils but overall was ok.

Mohamed fue muy amable con nosotros. Llegamos muy tarde y nos recibió con bebidas calientes y un poco de comida. La vista del Nilo es estupenda desde el comedor. El lugar es tranquilo y perfecto para quien prefiera escapar del ruido de las grandes ciudades. Mohamed y su familia tratan de hacerte sentir cómodo y seguro en todo momento.

We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad bij Basmatic. Prima bedden, super schoon, prachtig uitzicht vanaf het terras onder het genot van een ontbijt en/of diner met bijvoorbeeld de beste vlees moussaka. Contact verloopt prima en personeel is erg vriendelijk. Ze helpen je ook met het plannen van excursies, dat is ons goed bevallen. Aanrader!!

We couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay! The apartment was great and the rooftop is amazing. Mustafa and Mohammed were exceptionally kind and welcoming, showing us around Elephantine. Would absolutely recommend and hope to return one day!

L’emplacement, le calme, la gentillesse du personnel

Hôtel situé sur une île ce qui lui a donné beaucoup de charme et une vue magnifique. Les propriétaires et les employés étaient tous d’une gentillesse extrême et d’une aide précieuse pour tous nos déplacements. Nous avons également mangé plusieurs fois dans leur restaurant qui était excellent et plus que raisonnable niveau prix. La chambre était spacieuse et propre, le matelas et les oreillers de très bonne qualité.

La douche de la salle de bain était à côté des toilettes sans séparation ce qui était un peu compliqué mais très commun à l’Égypte. Des travaux sont prévus ce qui rendra l’hôtel encore plus top.

Magnifique sur le mausolee de l aga khan. l arrivee en bateau est top. Personnel tres sympa et sachant s adapter. Proprietaire souriant et aux petits soins. captain magic ...magic . Cuisinieres au top. Et les chambres tres grandes et tres propres la mienne ayant une vue imprenable sur le nil. C est l old cataract de l ile elephantine...sans la piscine.

I proprietari sono stati molto disponibili e hanno assecondato qualsiasi necessità. Ci hanno consigliato e aiutato a risolvere piccoli imprevisti e organizzato per noi visite nei dintorni. La struttura è molto pulita e ben tenuta.

Sulla piccola isola in cui si trova, non tutte le strutture sono ben tenute e quindi appena arrivati l’impressione non è subito positiva .

Struttura a gestione famigliare nell’isola elefantina collegata benissimo con il centro di Assuan dalla navetta del proprietario offerta per il check in e check out, vista spettacolare. Personale molto gentile. Ottimo ristorante.

Mustafa and Muhammad are great hosts, they run the family business and let everyone feel part of the family while you’re at the guest house. The view from the terrace is amazing, especially at sunset, and the restaurant serves great home made food. We’ll definitely stay at Basmatic again if we come back to Aswan.

La famille est vraiment accueillante. Tout était simple pour arriver sur l Île Mohammed m a envoyé un message avant notre arrivée nous avons pu prendre un bateau qui nous attendait. Pour naviguer seules les navettes publiques sont très peu chères. Enfin si vous n avez pas booké d excursions vous pouvez faire confiance à cette maison d hôte bien moins chers que Get your guide. Très mauvaise expérience le guide avait 1h de retard pas du tout sérieux. L île est vraiment calme seul moment de calme après toutes les villes visitées dans tout l Égypte. L appartement était immense. Et très propre. La nourriture est vraiment délicieuse. Nous y avons mangé deux fois. On avait l impression d être un peu en famille. Je recommande +++ car hélas en Égypte nous sommes vraiment tombés mal. Et magnifique terrasse avec une vue typique du Nil.

Sehr schönes Familiengeführtes Guesthouse mit schöner Lage und toller Sicht auf den Nil. Wir (Familie mit 2 Kindern) wurden vom Bahnhof abgeholt und mit dem privaten Boot auf die Insel gebracht. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und angenehm groß. Das Frühstück und Abendessen waren sehr gut. Die ganze Familie kümmert sich wirklich außerordentlich um das Wohl der Gäste. Wir haben auch einen Ausflug nach Abu Simbel und Transfer nach Luxor über das Guesthouse gebucht. Alles zu fairen Preisen und sehr zuverlässig. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Herzlichen Dank für die die tolle Gastfreundschaft. 100% Empfehlung.

En premier lieu, l’emplacement et la vue sont tout simplement magiques. Prendre un thé à la menthe sur le rooftop avec la vue sur les dunes et les bateaux qui naviguent sur le Nil est une expérience inoubliable. L’équipe est très amicale, une vraie famille et on se sent « comme à la maison ». L’aventure commence dès l’arrivée de leur joli bateau coloré pour le pick up. Et l’arrivée face au bâtiment avec ses peintures joyeuses et chatoyantes marque le début des vacances dans un environnement dépaysant et hors du temps !

Guesthouse avec une très belle terrasse et vue. Ce côté de l’île est vraiment très beau et plus tranquille. Chambre confortable et propre. Très bon accueil tout le monde était très gentil, le bateau est venu nous chercher et nous avons eu beaucoup d explications sur les possibilités de transport et la circulation sur l île. Notre chambre donnait sur le chemin le long de la guest house et les fenêtres n avaient pas de loquets, on entendait un peu les gens qui passaient le soir et le matin, dommage car c est une amélioration très simple à faire. Heureusement c était très calme durant la nuit.

Nous avons été déçus par le petit déjeuner qui était en supplément ( ce qui était prévu), celui ci était au tarif généralement appliqué mais un peu simple (et servi froid et uniquement quelques petits morceaux de pain) en comparaison des autres offres dans les autres restaurants de l’île et d une manière générale en Égypte. Vous ne pouvez avoir que un thé ou café ensuite c est un supplément. Du coup une petite décote sur la note globale car c est un élément qui pourrait être différenciant surtout si il est payant. Nous avons dîné au restaurant au moins une fois, c était pratique, mais rien d exceptionnel (les plats n étaient pas chauds) .

We loved our stay at Basmatic, the room was very clean and spacious and bed super comfy but best of all were our hosts and the gorgeous location. Mustafa in particular was so helpful and friendly, we followed his advice for boat trips which we loved especially as her beautiful baby daughter joined us on a sunset trip to Nubian village. They can also arrange free pick in boat from city if you inform arrival time. The island is just gorgeous, can walk anywhere without hassle just lots of friendly locals (and goats & Chickens) and the absence of cars makes it truly peaceful. We enjoyed meals and a late night beer at Bob Marleys guest house, excellent food! We wouldn’t hesitate to return to Elephantine and Basmatic if we are in Aswan again.

Wi-fi could be a big hit and miss but always worked from roof top do not a big issue

Pity we stayed for just 3 days! This guest house was clean, welcoming, homey and Muhammed and his family were excellent hosts. The travelling tips and suggested contacts were all genuine gentlemen. The food at the restaurant was exquisite as was the view. We would definitely come back here given the opportunity.
