Retro Kampot Guesthouse

This is one of our favourite places we’ve stayed in our travels around Cambodia! We were treated like family and invited to join them for dinner each night which was really special. We loved exchanging stories of both our countries and we learned so much from them. Their kindness really touched us and they went above and beyond to make our stay one to remember! We will forever remember this family and hold our stay here close to our hearts. The accomodation was super clean and comfortable and the food was so delicious. Thank you so much for having us, we will definitely stay here again if we ever find ourselves in Battambang again.

Very clean and the staff is really friendly

Le personnel est adorable, très attentionnée avec beaucoup de gentillesse. La guesthouse est située en pleine cathédrale verte. Le tour en en canoë au coucher du soleil est juste incroyable Tout est conforme a la description. Une expérience idéale pour un mode routard .

Excellemment établissement, l’hôte est exceptionnel. Elle nous met tout de suite à l’aise, endroit extrement chaleureux, au calme, plein de charme. Kayaks gratuit disponible, excellent restaurant avec plat tout fait maison, petit déjeuner au rendez vous avec crêpe digne de ce nom. Possibilité de louer des scooter pour un prix très raisonnable. Les chambres sont jolies, charmantes, on se sent vraiment chez soi.

Merci pour le super accueil ! La guesthouse est vraiment très chaleureuse, les chambres sont confortables et fonctionnelles (avec ventilateurs et moustiquaires), la terrasse commune est super pour manger les délicieux plats proposés ou lire dans un hamac. Les kayaks à libre disposition pour la green loop sont très appréciables et il est possible de les utiliser du lever au coucher du soleil. Le lieu est très calme mais on rejoint kampot en quelques minutes en moto (que l’on peut louer sur place) Encore merci à tout le personnel pour ce séjour très ressourçant !

Guesthouse exceptionnelle. Monika est aux petits soins pour vous organiser toutes sortes d’activités. Les repas sont de qualité. Le personnel est très gentil. Les bungalows au bord de la rivière offrent un super cadre.

Honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. One night stay was not long enough. Lovely welcoming family, quiet location, free kayak use, great food! I was in the apartment with A/c. Lovely areas with hammocks and comfy chairs to relax. Easy to order grab tuk tuks to and from town. Great service. Felt safe, relaxed and well looked after.

Beautiful location, great food and the staff was really kind. They have a precious orange cat who greeted us every morning and stayed with us during the evening.

There’s no airconditioning so it was a bit hot in the room but still doable.

De gastvrouw van Retro Kampot Guesthouse is super lief en vriendelijk. Bij aankomst kregen we fruit, water en koekjes. Helaas hebben we ons verblijf bij Retro Kampot Guesthouse eerder afgebroken (2 van de 3 nachten), vanwege het feit dat we een veel te hard en oncomfortabel bed hadden. Tevens was er geen airconditioning, waardoor het ook nog eens heel heet was (‘s nachts). Wij verbleven op dit plekje in augustus (regenseizoen) en hadden te veel last van alle muggen en stekende insecten. Hier werd niet veel aangedaan helaas. De klamboe die boven het vreselijke bed hing, werkte niet omdat er teveel gaten in zaten. Comfortabel was het niet, maar de plek opzich is uniek (zo aan de rivier). We mochten ook gebruik maken van de Kajaks en hebben een dagje de scooter gehuurd voor minder dan 5 doller om naar Bokor te gaan!

Het bed, geen airco en in het regenseizoen de vele stekende insecten.

Personnel très serviable et agréable. Nourriture très bonne. Super joli endroit.

Wonderful place to experience real countryside Cambodia

Ein Fleck Erde an dem man sich sehr gut erholen kann. Monika und alle die da Arbeiten sind immer freundlich und geben ihr bestes. Man kann hier ganz entspannt am Fluß in einer Hängematte chillen oder auf dem Fluss kostenlos mit einem Kayak paddeln..... PEEFEKT. Man kann sich auch einen Scooter für 5 Dollar pro 24h mieten. Das Essen ist auch sehr sehr lecker. Ach und Monika organisiert sogar Touren. Also entspannter geht es nicht. Also macht euch selbst ein Bild und besucht Monika. @Monika Danke für die schöne Zeit.

Le personnel et le calme.

I loved everything about my stay in this guesthouse! Monica is an amazing host! She went kayaking with me because I was alone and was scared to go by myself ! And she took amazing pictures of me during this activity! Furthermore the atmosphere and environment are so so peaceful. It’s the best place to stay if you want to just relax peacefully. Once you are there, you just want to keep living there. It was really a 5 star service. Without even mentioning the fact we are always welcomed with fruit and water in the common space ! And one more thing. I booked a tour with Ree, and I have to say that he is really an amazing guy. He has a lot of knowledge and likes to explain things + he is very friendly and genuinely kind ! I would 100% recommend a tour with Ree! I will definitely come back to kampot just to stay in that guesthouse and meet Monica and all the staff again !

Maybe just the mattress of my bed that was too hard. But honestly, I have been traveling in Cambodia for 1 month and all my accommodations (whether it’s a backpackers hostel or 5 star hotel) had very hard mattress. So I feel like it’s a national issue 😅

Very relaxing environment

It not I don’t like it just the days is hot and room I book has no air con so it a bit hot during the day. At night I slept like a baby.

We enjoyed it ❤️ the bungalow was so cute, I loved the retro furnishing. The staff were nice. Loved the location next to the river. We borrowed the kayak and rented scooters for a good price

We were right next to the hotel next door, and they pkayed music late and loud, so we could hear everything. This is not obviously Retro’s fault, but good to keep in mind :)

Alojamiento con encanto. La atención del personal excepcional. Comida muy buena. Sin grandes lujos pero con todo lo necesario. Muchas privacidad pero con el personal siempre disponible.

nice quiet location, around 12-15 min from the center by tuk-tuk. very friendly and helpfull staff. free kayak in a very nice and green location. excellent breakfast. very nice trips booked directly with them

rural location that come with certain challenges, but in my opinion this makes the experience even more authentic

The staff are so welcoming, kind, and friendly, the food is amazing, and the location is beautiful. It is truly a little haven off the beaten track.

L’ambiance de l’espace commun, on s’y sent comme à la maison. Le kayak mis à disposition gratuitement. La nourriture et les boissons à petits prix sur place.

L’insonorisation de la chambre, mais la propriétaire nous a proposé de nous « surclassé » dans un cabanon car on restait longtemps mais on a préféré resté dans la chambre pour avoir la Clim’ donc c’est pas vraiment un point négatif car il y avait une alternative gentillement proposée.

This was such a lovely place to stay and we will recommend it to anyone visiting Kampot! The staff are lovely and look after you really well. The location is perfect for getting into town and kayaking around the river. The cat was also super cute!❤️ Thank you

De eigenaresse (Monika) is super vriendelijk. Wij kwamen wat later in de avond aan maar samen met Monika hebben we nog kunnen kajakken in de Groene Cathedral. In de gemeenschappelijke ruimte werd continu gratis mango en water gebracht.

De charmants petits bungalows en bord d’eau. Très calme et propre. L’accueil et la gentillesse du personnel rend le séjour très agréable. Pleins de petites attentions, la possibilité de prendre un kayak (gratuitement, à proximité d’endroits sympa et à volonté, un gros plus !) des scooters en location à bas prix, et des guides super ! Nous avons passé une journée avec Ree, c’était génial ! Nous le recommandons aussi ! Les plats proposés à l’hôtel sont aussi très bons et peu chers.

Staying at Retro Kampot truly felt like living with family. The staff is so incredibly warm and welcoming. Every time I sat down to relax, they would bring over a fresh fruit bowl and a glass of water. The owner helped me out in so many ways during my stay. One of the absolute highlights was the free kayaks they offer for exploring the river. It is a beautiful, peaceful place and I cannot recommend it highly enough

Tout était parfait, l’accueil par les hôtes, l’endroit est très mignon et apaisant, nous avons pris une chambre avec salle de bain partagée. La literie est confortable et tout était très propre. Les hôtes sont très disponibles et réactifs aux petit soins et offrent constamment eau et salade de fruit. Des biscuits nous on même été offerts à notre départ. Par ailleurs vous pouvez également louer des scooters et il y a un restaurant. La nourriture est copieuse et très bonne. C’était parfait

Monika and her team were lovely... The food was really good too! I enjoyed the fried squid with pepper! If you are too lazy to go out, the common area is conducive for lazing around in the hammocks... Monika was not only very friendly and helpful to the guests at RETRO, but even to my friend who was putting up at another hostel, and merely joined me for the kayaking session. It's not too near the city.. but that's really the way I like it... The sound of crickets... birds chirping... roosters crowing... Tuk tuks are easily available or if you are adventurous enough, motorbikes are available at 6USD a day. They are not too strict with the check-in time so if the room is already available before the official check-in time, they will let you check-in. Oh... Lets not forget the fat cat with an attitude... Haha so so so so adorable!

Well I can't find anything I didn't like but I was woken up at about 4.30am by the call to prayer broadcasting loudly from the Muslim village nearby. It's not a bad thing. I just didn't expect it. I am not even sure if I was woken up by it or if I happened to wake up and hear it. I mistakenly chose a room without air-conditioning so it was a lil warm but the many fans made up for it. Yes it was my own carelessness...

L’emplacement est vraiment bien, avec une terrasse vraiment sur la rivière. Il est très sympa de s’y poser en fin d’après midi dans le hamac ou sur les coussins (attention aux moustiques !) Le personnel est très gentil et attentionné ! On est très bien accueilli Ils font restaurant, petit déjeuner, location de scooter et prêtent des kayaks pour aller sur la rivière !

Il ne faut pas avoir le sommeil léger pour venir ici. J’aurais bien aimé le savoir avant car l’établissement est situé entre 3 mosquées vous êtes réveillés à 4h30 du matin par les chants de ces 3 dernières. De plus, des bateaux à moteur passent à ces mêmes heures dans la rivière. Il est donc difficile de dormir entre 4h et 5h du matin.

The staff were so hospitable and kind, always bringing a cold glass of water whenever we got back and being incredibly helpful. The guesthouse was in a beautiful location a bit outside of town, very peaceful and luscious! Also, we were fed so much homegrown mango, it was sensational ☺️

L’accueil par la propriétaire et son équipe est formidable. On se sent bien ici. Tout est propre, les chambres sont bien et on mange très très bien.

The hosts were very kind and friendly and made us feel very welcome.

An amazing place to stay. There were free kayaks available and very easy and reasonably priced scooter hire. The women running the place were so lovely and always provided us free fruit and wafers whenever we sat down in the communal area. The room was super cozy and had three fans for comfort. There was also a hammock on the balcony overlooking the river. Highly recommend this stay

Tout, un acceuil et une bienveillance incroyable, la team de Monika est souriante, dévouée et aux petits soins. La nourriture est excellente, les bungalows sont bien équipés, propres et silencieux. L’organisation quant aux visites est parfaite et le fait de pouvoir faire des heures de kayak quand on veut est la cerise sur le gâteau. Un rapport qualité prix parfait. Je recommanderai les yeux fermés et je n’irai nulle part autre si je reviens. Merci à cette équipe et ce formidable homestay. David

Location fantastica con una posizione sul fiume invidiabile! Negli spazi comuni si respira un'aria di convivialità e cortesia impagabili. Offrono, oltre a degli ottimi pasti e i kayak gratuiti, un servizio di prenotazione dei mezzi di trasporto condivisi da e per Kampot a prezzi onestissimi! Non saprei chiedere di meglio

L’accueil de tout le personnel était parfait. Un grand merci à Monica qui a été un amour pendant tout le séjour ! Le lieu est magnifique et très chaleureux. On a pu louer des scooter très facilement et on a même profité du canoë pour aller voir le coucher du soleil, tout simplement incroyable ! On s’est régalé avec des bons plats bien cuisinés et les mangues étaient délicieuses 🥹 Merci encore!!

What a lovely welcome from the staff team, not only on our arrival but each time we got back from exploring. Such a treat to be surrounded by the beautiful gardens, get access to free kayaks and to have fresh fruit with every meal.

Beautiful bungalow by the river. Super easy motorbike rental. Food was cheap and tasty. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us, 10/10

Het hotel ligt buiten de stad, aan de Green Cathedral. Dus je kunt meteen de kayak instappen en te water gaan. Heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel.

Het is wel erg primitief, dus daar moet je je op instellen. Denk aan dunne muren waardoor het erg gehorig is, een basis wc/badkamer en simpele kamer.

Séjour exceptionnel et inoubliable, Monica et son équipe étais au petit soin, fruits et eau offert tout les jours. les kayaks sont gratuit, les repas incroyable et belles portions. Chambre propre et très confortable. Un vrai paradis pour ce détendre. Triste de partir, sans aucun doute le meilleur endroit en 3semaine au Cambodge !

Echt een geweldig verblijf tijdens je bezoek aan Kampot! Het personeel is echt super lief en erg gastvrij. Je krijgt vaak gratis water en fruitbakjes als je in de gezamenlijke ruimte zit. Ook mag je gratis gebruik maken van kayaks. Niet normaal wat je allemaal krijgt bij deze accommodatie!! We hebben enorm genoten.

L’endroit est magnifique, jardin fleuri au bord de la rivière. Personnel adorable et aux petits soins pour nous quand notre fille a été hospitalisée. Nourriture excellente.

Seul bémol: le bungalow familial est proche de la route, on ne dormait donc pas très bien...

Absolutely adored this place. Don't hesitate to book. The rooms are clean and super comfortable, the staff are so so kind and will do anything to make your stay comfortable, and the location is nestled away in the mangroves. You can take a kayak for free whenever you want, and the food is homemade and delicious. Highly recommend the rice soup, one of my favourite dishes in Cambodia. Thank you for your kind welcome and for having us in your beautiful guesthouse!

Emplacement calme mais éloigné du centre ville. Location de scooter sur place. Peut s'occuper des billets de transport. Kayak à disposition pour balade Très bon restaurant et petit-déjeuner. Espace collectif très agréable, il règne une bonne ambiance.

Es ist, abgesehen von den Gebeten des Muezzins, ausgesprochen ruhig. Die Lage direkt am Wasser ist einzigartig. Toll dass kostenlos Kajaks zur Verfügung stehen!

Garden bungalow with river view was lovely. Relaxing place with friendly and warm staff who really went out of their way to make guests comfortable.

The staff was welcoming and helpful, the food was great and we were able to enjoy the kayaks at green cathedral.

Exactly what I wanted, out of town, quiet. Easy to get to town 15mim $2 or rent your own bike. The food was amazing and I had a most meals here. No aircon in room but more than enough fans I had 3 inside and 1 outside The staff were amazing and extremely helpful. Thank you so much Monika !!!!! I would have stayed an extra evening but the were fully booked

L’endroit est très bien géré par Monika et son équipe. La salle de bain partagée est propre, la chambre bénéficie de climatisation + ventilateur, le lit est confortable (pas aussi ferme qu’aux autres endroits du Cambodge). Monika s’occupe de tout pour vous faciliter la vie, scooters à 6$/jour pour explorer les environs, prêt de kayaks, réservation de bus pour votre prochaine destination… le laundry service est aussi très bien. Mais surtout, le service est digne d’un 4*. Ils nous ont même changé les draps après la deuxième nuit alors qu’on ne restait qu’une nuit de plus. beaucoup de plateaux de fruits offerts! L’eau potable est en accès libre service.
