Reviewed Jul 1, 2026We loved the history attached to the "tuinhuise" and the Victoria Manor Hotel itself. The staff who attended to us had all worked there for 16 years and more! The bedding was beautiful and I appreciated the "old" blankets - old but fresh - the same type my gran used in her home in the Karoo!
The receptionist could have been a bit more "people" friendly. We had to prompt her for info - she should be more upfront with info and advice.

The staff wasn't helpful when we arrived and staff coming in for morning duty was loud from very early. Unfortunately the location is not great with all the trucks passing.

The accommodation is so nice, so tastefully decorated. The food is something special and the service fantastic. The two sisters who own and run this establishment should be very proud.

The hotel is experiencing issues with water supply. It is not their fault, more an issue with the local council that are not able to supply the town with a basic right such as water. This is due to neglect and lack of maintenance on the council's side which has a very negative influence on local business.

Dinner in the main hotel was simple and good, referencing local traditional food. And the breakfast was excellent; lovely fresh fruit and homemade muffins.
There was a problem with the water supply so we had no water for the night. This is obviously outside the hotel’s control and they provided plenty of bottled water for toilet etc but it was disappointing.

Door het groot watertekort geen stromend water in het tuishuisie. Wel konden we douchen in het hotel, als ze de pomp daar aan zetten. Dit gebeurde pas de 2e dag. Wc doorspoelen met fles water. Zo ook handen wassen.

We slept in the main bedroom on the back of the house. It was quit, the bed was very big. We felt back in time with the comfort of today. The diner and breakfast in the hotel is very good and we can advise. I had the best boboti ever.

Reviewed Mar 9, 2026We had a wonderful at House 46 during our work trip. It was super comfortable with everything we needed and more. The house was spotless, and we loved that the dining table was already set for us. They left coffee, tea, sugar, milk and drinking water for us, which we appreciated. The house was bigger than we expected and the rooms were big and comfortable. The house had the most beautiful old school charm. The whole "vibe" of the house felt extremely peaceful. This was our third stay at Die Tuishuise and we will always recommend it to friends!
The showerhead in the second bedroom at the back of the house isn't great. The water sprays out in very thin, sharp streams, which actually hurts when it hits your skin. The house is right on the street so it was a little bit noisy outside at night, but we are not light sleepers so it didn't bother us that much.
