Beautiful location, backed onto the beach, window in the room looked out into the ocean! Lovely and friendly staff, walking distance to yummy restaurants. Wifi worked well :) would definitely stay again

Amazing hosts. A father and son run the business. They're very friendly, helpful, and professional in providing services. There were a couple of long-staying guests who were very friendly, too. The place is amazing, right by the beach. You can enjoy the beach from the property. A few restaurants were within walking distance, although the main tourist area is around 1 km from the property. To me, it was to my liking because I don't like crowded tourist areas.

Outer seating area could be improved with better chairs and a charging socket. Not a deal breaker.

Wir haben das Guesthouse für unsere letzten 3 Tage in Sri Lanka gebucht und waren absolut zufrieden 😊 Sehr freundlicher Gastgeber und tolles Zimmer mit guter Klimaanlage, schönen Nachttischlampen, einem bequemen großen Bett und einer guten Warmwasser Dusche. Das Highlight war natürlich der nur 20m entfernte Strand! Unser Gastgeber hat uns für einen fairen Preis auch um 3:30 Uhr nachts zum Airport gefahren 😊👍 In der Nähe gibt es außerdem viele kleine Geschäfte und Restaurants.

Ein zusätzliches dünnes Kopfkissen wäre noch ein toller Bonus gewesen.

Sunshine Guest House is a great option. The service was excellent for the price, and the room condition was 100% top-notch. The surroundings were very pleasant as well. Honestly, we had a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!

Beautiful, peaceful place right on the beach in a great location. I’ve stayed in Negombo a few times now, and this is definitely my favorite place. It’s within easy walking distance of restaurants and other things, but tucked away on a quiet road, away from the noise. Best of all, it’s directly on the beach, so you can take a walk or enjoy the sunset. The staff and owners are all so friendly and make you feel right at home. They were also flexible on the check-in time which was nice. The room was also perfect, really clean, with a comfortable bed. I appreciated having a kettle in the room, as well as AC. There’s also a lovely terrace in front of the room where you can sit and relax. I’ll definitely stay here again the next time I’m in Negombo. Thanks! ♥️

Personale gentile e molto disponibile, a 1 m dal mare e 5 min in tuk tuk dalle principali attrazioni, come il mercato del pesce. A piedi si può arrivare ad un sacco di ristoranti. Privo di aria condizionata, ma con ventilatore si stava benissimo

Me encantó la habitación, muy bonita y súper limpia. La guest House está justo en frente del mar y es muy agradable poder ir a verlo al atardecer. Además fueron muy amables y nos ofrecieron un pequeño tour donde visitamos un templo precioso y nos acercaron hasta donde teníamos que recoger nuestro tuk tuk. Todo fue excelente. Muchas gracias! :)

Hemos repetido noche en Sun Shine Guest House por segunda vez para ir al aeropuerto. ¡La mejor opcion sin duda!

El alojamiento es perfecto si vas a pasar una noche y necesitas cerca el aeropuerto. La habitacion estaba limpia y cuidada, pudimos descansar y empezar nuestra aventura por Sri Lanka. Repetiremos estancia en este mismo hotel al finalizar el viaje por el interior del pais. El dueño fue muy amable, nos han guardado las tablas de surf y nos ofreció ayuda para lo que necesitaramos. Recomendable 100*100.

This is a truly beautiful place; it is even more stunning because it is right by the beach. The room was excellent and very clean. The owner is very kind and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

De bedden zijn heel groot en liggen heel fijn! Ook licht de accomodatie direct aan het strand, leuk voor een wandeling. We werden heel gastvrij ontvangen, prettige eigenaar.

Extrem sauber und sehr freundliches Peronal - man fühlt sich wie in einer Famile... Man hat Privatsphäre und trotzdem reicht ein Blick zu den Betreibern und es wird einem jeder Wunsch erfüllt!

Nothing so far

Wszystko zgodne z opisem. Wlasciciele bardzo symapatyczni, pomocni. Pokoj czysty, tak samo łazienka. Ręczniki dostępne na miejscu. Dosłownie 10 metrów od pokojh mieliśmy wyjście na plażę, która byla praktycznie cała tglko dla nas.

Niestety nie trafiliśmy na dzien z dostępnym śniadaniem. Klomatyzacja byłaby lepsza opcją niż wiatrak, ale to tylko luźna sugestia bo w opisie był wiatrak a nie klimatyzacja :) Trzeba uważać tez w łazience, bo wystający drut zranił mnie dosyć mocno w stopę.

Der Besitzer und sein Vater sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Aufenthalt war sehr schön und wir haben uns gut aufgehoben gefühlt. Perfekt um in Sri Lanka anzukommen.

W pokoju duszno i gorąco a nad łóżkiem duży i głośny wiatrak - przy włączonym nie dało się spać, a przy wyłączonym ciężko było wytrzymać w pokoju. Uchylając okna ze względu na okolicę było ryzyko owadów. Pobliska plaża brudna i nieciekawa. Budynek dość obskurny, a okolica kiepska. Od razu po przyjeździe zostawiliśmy swoje rzeczy i wyszliśmy na cały dzień żeby nie siedzieć na miejscu. Żałujemy, że nie wybraliśmy innego miejsca na ostatnią noc na Sri Lance.

They dis awesome! The family cared about everything. The Food was great, the view stunning and the beach fantastic. They organized everything for us an we could Order Food and drinks when ever we wanted to. Thanks a lot for your kindness ♥️

Our room was very comfortable and prepared with care. The decorations were lovely and you could tell the owner put a lot of effort into it. The owner was extremely helpful helping us plan our stay in Sri Lanka, even taking us to the busstation after checkout the next day .

Wirklich sehr sehr schön gelegen, direkt am Strand, der Besitzer und sein Sohn sind super sympathisch & die Zimmer sehen 1 zu 1 aus wie auf den Fotos - mein Zimmer hatte keine Klimaanlage (stand aber auch in der Beschreibung), mit dem Ventilator war es zwar auszuhalten, aber im Dorm mit AC wäre es wahrscheinlich angenehmer gewesen bei der Hitze (oder halt ein Zimmer mit AC falls vorhanden)

Sauberkeit war nicht so wie auf den Bildern dargestellt. Es wirkt etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

Das Zimmer ist super schön und die Lage ist wirklich perfekt. Es war nur etwas schwierig etwas zu frühstücken zu finden. Die Hosts sind super lieb und Hilfsbereit

Wir haben eine Nacht im Sun Shine Guest House verbracht und möchten unbedingt die unkomplizierte Kommunikation mit den Hosts und die Lage zum Strand hervorheben.

Location was fantastic. They organised a driver for us to take us to the property after a late night flight arrival which was even delayed due to visa issues. Owner was very honest and didn’t try to rip us off when arranging a taxi to sigriya. Overall a very enjoyable, comfortable stay after a long flight

Das Außengelände war teilweise eine Baustelle, hat das Leben dort allerdings nicht groß beeinträchtigt.

Wir waren hier für eine Nacht weil es sehr gut vom Flughafen erreichbar war. Sehr ruhig und sauber.

L'extérieur etait en travaux (fin juillet 2025) Mais malgré ça la chambre est impeccable calme très propre, je recommande pour se remettre d'un long vol, ou avant de partir du Sri Lanka, ou tout simplement pour visiter Negombo!

I had a wonderful stay at this apartment! The facilities were excellent, and I really appreciated the complimentary tea and coffee. The location is outstanding—right on the beach, which made my holiday extra special. Everything was perfectly clean and well-maintained. The owner and his family were extremely friendly and always ready to help with any questions I had. I felt very welcome and well taken care of. Highly recommended!

Loved this stay! Big comfy bed, very clean bathroom, right next to the ocean (falling asleep with the sound of the waves!) the owners are lovely, even offered to drop me off for dinner when no pickme drivers were accepting my ride. I also recommend trying the cafe around the corner: CheR’ish27. It’s run by this local couple who make the best (mango) milkshakes!

The location was perfect—right next to the sea. The host was very friendly, and overall, it was great value for money. The Host, Dhananjay (Dana) wasfriendly and took great care of us.

Cozy vibe and great atmosphere! Dana is super friendly and helpful.

No breakfast available. Right on the beach. My room was of high standard, better than my home and as good as a 3star hotel or more. The hosts Dana and Jude were helpful and excellent company. Jude drove me to my next hotel and saved me the hassle of getting a taxi.

May be a better kitchen but really why would you want to cook with so many good food stalls and restaurants around.

We got the recontructed room which was clean and comfy. We appreciated aircondtion.

The sea is just 50 meters away and you have direct access to it, also the room was really comfortable. The owner was very friendly.

The mosquito net was really appreciated because there were many many mosquitos in the room. Very nice and helpful owners

The location is quite far so tuktuk for moving is needed and, then, the price stops being so competitive. The beds of the economic room were horrible, very thin matress so you could feel the wood. No hot water but it was not a problem because it was so so hot that day.

If Negombo is the first city you’re landing for your Sri Lanka trip, choose this place and be sorted for the rest of your trip. The location is 20 mins away from the airport. This stay is hosted by a son and father who are very friendly people! They have been running this homestay since 50 years now and they are doing it very well. Let the hosts know of any requirements you have for your trip in Sri Lanka- and they’ll help you out! I loved my stay at SunShine Guest House!

Our room was wonderful. The man was, quite rightly, very proud of what he had made. Seemed new. Attention to detail with shelving and storage. Arty extras added to this looked after feeling. Bed was big and comfortable. A/C and fan. Everything worked. Porch outside with chairs as well as communal seating area towards beach. Kitchenette, with fridge available. Son and father both lovely people.

Beach quite narrow and with litter. A bit of a walk to main area of shops and resturants ...OK for us as we had a tuk tuk....bikes would also help with this.

It was cheap and they help us with settling down in Sri Lanka. Close to the beach. To sleep one night

Dirty place, room with no AC and well in general old furniture and not too good organized.

Room was Basic but clean, bathroom with hot water. Wifi was good also the location walking distance to the major attractions of the city. The sea right în front of the accomodation. And not the last very kind people owning this property

Owner, Dananjaya was very helpful. He is very active & renovating his business which is a very good start for a young man in Sri Lanka. I wish him all the best.

Booking.com actually misled me by showing up 'air conditioning' and breakfast. It is not the owner's fault.
