Robert is a really nice person, he makes you feel at home ! We did also a safari with him and it was really great !

Robert, the owner, was a really great host. He made my first days in Sri Lanka really great. He offered transportation services and organized a nice Safari for us. The room was clean and equipped with a private bathroom, fan, and mosquito net.

La habitación tenía aire acondicionado, la cama era de dos plazas, hay pava eléctrica y heladera (sucia)

Las condiciones de limpieza no eran buenas. El baño estaba sucio y lleno de hongos , la heladera sucia y el vidrio de la ventana tapado con papel servilleta. Está alejado del poblado y la calle no tiene luz. Entiendo que el precio es muy bajo y no me quejaría si no fuera porque el dueño quiso cobrarme más diciendo que la habitación que yo había reservado era otra y él me dio una mejor. Me vendió “ ir a ver elefantes “ , lo que fue ir a un lugar donde tienen un elefante encadenado al que usan para llevarte a recorrer la zona sobre él, com lo que no estoy de acuerdo. También sumo a la cuenta un buen monto por llevarme hasta el templo cuando antes me dijo que era cortesía por ser su huésped, yo prefería ir caminando . Al ver mi enojo ante la injusticia de aprovecharse a cobrarme de más simplemente por ser turista y viajar sola, me trató mal . Respeto su cultura, pero no la entiendo. Los turistas también somos trabajadores y no está bueno que se aprovechen de éste modo y que nos hagan sentir tan incómodas a las mujeres que viajamos solas.

Nécessite d'avoir son propre cadenas pour fermer la chambre. Pas d'eau chaude dans ma chambre mais j'ai pu utiliser la salle de bains d'une autre chambre. Beaucoup d'épaves de deux-roues même dans l'établissement.

Il soggiorno è sorprendentemente meglio delle aspettative, specie visto il prezzo: irrisorio ma senza sacrificare nulla. La casa è spartana e condivisa con la famiglia di Robert ed altri ospiti, tuttavia il clima che si respira è accogliente e ti lascia molto la libertà di fare un po' come se fossi a casa tua. La stanza è molto basica: c'è solo un letto ed un ventilatore, ma il letto è comodo e non si è dormiti mai con il caldo. ll bagno è in comune ma ha acqua calda ed è pulito in modo sufficiente.

La posizione della struttura non è super invitante, dalla strada bisogna camminare un po' per una stradina praticamente senza luce. Robert ci ha affittato un motorino ma non aveva fari funzionanti, un po' un problema visto i numerosi tratti da fare al buio.

무엇보다 가격대비 가성비 좋습니다 사장님 가족분들도 다 친절해서 1박이지만 기분좋게 지냈습니다~ 메인로드에서 숙소로 들어오는길이 좀 어두우나 저한테는 딱히 문제가 아니었네요

Calme et lit comfortable

En tant que femme, nous ne nous sommes pas sentie super à l’aise. Et le gérant voulait absolument qu’on lui acheter sont pack de découverte de la ville il nous en a beaucoup parler et il était très présent ( compliqué d’être seule sur la terrasse car il vient tout le temps s’assoira avec vous et proposer des services payant ) Lieu un peu étrange et les prix on changer quand on est arrivé sur place

El desayuno es abundante y está muy rico. Había una garrafa con agua potable en el patio, aire acondicionado y ventilador de techo. Muchos enchufes en la habitación

La habitación estaba muy sucia en especial el baño. Si no reservas el tour con ellos y sales pronto por la mañana, no te dan de desayunar ni opción de take a way y se crea un mal ambiente.

Il bagno è ricavato con una divisoria di vetro nella camera. Non si gira intorno al letto. Parcheggio ristretto, per accogliere la nostra auto il cancello è rimasto aperto. La strada per la città è buia e stretta. Pericolosa da fare a piedi

I had a great stay at Robert Inn. The location is perfect—quiet but still convenient for exploring Dambulla and nearby sights like Sigiriya. What really stood out was the owner—super helpful, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure I had everything I needed. Whether it was tips for getting around or just a warm welcome, his hospitality made a big difference. Rooms were simple but comfortable, and everything felt clean and well-kept. For the price, it’s great value. Would definitely recommend to other travelers passing through Dambulla!

Robert's son is a good chap who really wants his dad to understand what current tourists like and how he can make more business by making tourists comfortable.

Very cunning person he showed us the bad rooms first and told us that those are the rooms which we booked but infact the room which we booked had attached bathroom and all the facilities whereas he asked us the double the amount for the room which we booked and at last we were forced to pay that money he asked us.

Distance from the main road

Location is too far frm busstop.

Mr. Robert is a good man, speaks decent English, is really helpful and responsive and present. This property is near the bus stop and it is surrounded by nice greenery.

The road from the bus stand to the house although it is walkable but is not in good condition & without streetlights so if you have big trolley bags like I had so better take an auto to reach there

Wifiは、部屋にシグナルが届かない。 とどいたとしてもサーバーに繋がらない。 立地の関係か、自分のSIMも3Gから4Gを行ったり来たり。 風呂場の換気口は、虫除けネットすらなく、蚊やヤモリが普通に出入りしていた。部屋中蟻だらけで床に置いてた鞄やシーツに蟻がたかってた。 立地も、booking.comに載ってた距離より遠く、周囲もバイクの廃車場にあった。 ホステルの中にも廃車したバイクや部品が散乱してスクラップ場に泊まっているみたいでした。 あと、電気配線がめちゃくちゃなのか、スタッフに部屋の電気を消されたけど、つけ直してくれず自分でつけに行かないとダメでした。 The Wi-Fi signal didn’t reach my room. Even when it did, it couldn’t connect to the server. Possibly due to the location, even my SIM kept switching between 3G and 4G. There was no insect screen on the bathroom ventilation, so mosquitoes and geckos came and went freely. The room was full of ants — they were all over my bag and sheets that I had placed on the floor. The actual location was farther than what was listed on Booking.com, and the area was surrounded by a motorcycle junkyard. Inside the hostel as well, there were scrapped motorbikes and parts scattered around, making it feel like I was staying in a scrapyard. Also, the electrical wiring seemed to be a mess — one of the staff turned off the lights in my room, but didn’t turn them back on, so I had to go and switch them on myself.

Robert war super hilfsbereit und hatte gute Empfehlungen parat. Meine Freundin hatte eine Blasenentzündung, wir wurden sofort einem Arzt vermittelt und kamen direkt dran.

WiFi network range in my room was less

Wow, we booked initially for 2 nights but we stayed 5 (and we could have easily stayed longer). The rooms are modern, well maintained, very clean and comfortable. They look much better than on the photos. There is always hot water in the bathroom, there is filtered water for the guests, space to eat and chill outside, there is a nice view from the rooftop (you can see the Dambulla caves hill not far), and you can use the kitchen and our room was quite cool even without using a fan. It's incredible that you can have all this at such a low price (a small tip: it will be cheaper to just arrive there without a reservation through a website. In april 2025 non AC room was 1500 LKR!). We also appreciated Robert personality and his family. As for the location we actually enjoyed being out of town. At the main street (10 minutes walking) you can find restaurants cheaper than in the center (rice and curry around 350-450 Rs.) and the neighbourhood folks are very nice.

You will feel like your own home here. Robert and his family were just amazing. Had homemade delicious srilankan food as well. Highly recommend to everyone

Brilliant budget hotel

Posizione comoda, in zona tranquilla e appartata, non illuminata di notte ma non lontana dal centro e dalla fermata del bus, la stanza è pulita, Robert e la sua famiglia sono gentilissimi, disponibili e accoglienti. La sistemazione è spartana ma il prezzo è onestissimo, se non si vuole spendere molto è una soluzione ottima per un paio di giorni di relax.

The place is beautiful and amazing, and it has everything you need. Robert, the hostel owner, is cheerful and helpful. The hostel is located in an area surrounded by forests, yet it's not far from the city center. I recommend everyone to come here.

robert and his family couldnt be more welcoming and kind-this was for sure our best acommodation in sri lanka, but definetely all thanks to the energy and vibe in the house. always sharing the local food and traditions. we got to celebrate new years with them and those memories will be unforgettable, also robert took us to see the elephants and let us use his bikes whenever we wanted

It was my first stay as a solo female traveller in Sri Lanka and Robert and his family welcomed me as if I was part of their family. I really enjoyed my stay and I could visit Dambulla and Sigiriya very easily. Thank you Robert, when I come back to Sri Lanka I will for sure come even just to say hello :)

Gece karanlıktan korkuyor iseniz özellikle yağmurlu akşamlarda yol bazen sıkıntılı olabiliyor ama kötü değil.

Роберт приятный и заботливый хозяин. Готов ответить на все ваши вопросы и оказать посильную помощь. Мне Роберт сильно помог, когда потребовался ремонт арендованной машины. Что касается уровня комфорта проживания, то тут не всё идеально, но и стоимость соответствует. В общем, на 1-2 ночи остановиться можно.

They dont care about local bookings. after arriving there, owner robert says all accomadations full. so they changed their place and i payed double for new location. extremely bad experience as local

I had a confirmed reservation at Robert Inn Dambulla, and they even sent me a welcome message in advance. I also replied to their message, so there was clear communication. However, when I arrived at the property on the reserved date, they claimed they had no rooms available! Their excuse was that previous guests were still occupying the rooms, but that’s completely unacceptable. If they were unable to honor my reservation, they should have at least informed me in advance instead of letting me arrive at night with nowhere to stay. I was left stranded and had to find another place at the last minute, which was both stressful and frustrating. This level of mismanagement is totally unprofessional, and I strongly DO NOT recommend this place to anyone looking for a reliable stay. 📌 If you need a guaranteed room, avoid this place!

Location is not good, it’s very hard to reach there specially in night. Very shady area and really really hard to reach. No street lights and you have to walk for a kilometre in dark
