Everything was perfect about the stay here. The area was fantastic - the local vibe was cozy. There were plenty of amenities within walking distance. The host was great - no complaints whatsoever. Thanks!

We only went down town a few feet and had breakfast there. But there was a continental breakfast in the BB if we wanted to avail of it.

The only thing was the use of the sockets to charge phones or to use hairdryer, there was not many, as behind the bed, therefore we only had use of one each side of bed, not two, which was a pity.

I would suggest fruit yogurts and juices would be supplied for the breakfast

Everything was perfect, Natalia was so lovely and kind, we were lucky enough to have the house to ourselves, our dog was only so happy to run around the gardens, there was even a fire pit so we made a little fire at night and enjoyed that under the stars.

I got an upgrade, the room was very spacious and comfortable. I slept very well. I only stayed one night, but would come back again for a longer stay. I would recommend Preston House.

A beautifully renovated, 200-year-old house. Plenty of seating inside and in the lovely garden. Large self-service kitchen. The ancient floorboards barely creaked.

One or two pictures on the wall don't quite fit with the perfectly and stylishly renovated house. But that's just nitpicking ;-)

Lovely house lots of character, large kitchen facilities to use and multiple lounges to use with comfy sofas as well as a outside courtyard with plenty of seating. Rooms was lovely and big and very comfortable beds and so quiet at night, continental breakfast included aswell. Shop and pub takeaways only 2-5 min walk. Host was lovely and friendly and i will definitely be staying here again.

I loved the old world feel about this property- it felt like I was stepping onto a set of Downton abbey or Bridgerton! The beds were so soft and comfortable and the old world kitchen was just beautiful. Outside area was pristine and very beautiful, perfect for eating outside. Would definitely recommend and would also rebook.

The place is good, looks a bit like a library or a museum, the room was big, had everything we needed. A bed is big and comfortable for two people. Quiet at night, easy to find a parking spot on a street. The owner left a key to our apartment for us, as we have arrived after 20:00. Be aware that it might be problematic to find some dinner options after 21:00.

I loved my stay at Preston House and would definitely stay again. Not your run of the mill accommodation, a step back in time in a good way. The bed was huge and very comfortable, a large bathroom with a great shower. I liked being able to use the kitchen for a cup of tea. I also felt very comfortable in the sitting room reading a book. The staff and owner were lovely, and very helpful.

We have just had a wonderful two night stay at Preston house which we decided to do at the last minute. The host Ross, was very obliging and accommodating and was full of local knowledgeable about bars and restaurants, which were a stones trow away, as well as places to visit around Abbeyleix. The house itself is very well kept and oozes 19th century charm. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious. There were two spacious reception rooms, dining rooms and a large kitchen at our disposal to use along with an outdoor area and gardens. Thank you to Ross and his staff. We will definitely be visiting again!

This property is beautiful restored oozing with Georgian charm. Ross and Natalia were lovely hosts with great sense of pride for this property

Nothing to not like

The house is very warm and welcoming. When you arrive you feel at home right away. The kitchen is a great place to meet fellow guests and have a chat. The bedrooms are spacious and bright and spotless. A great plus for us was that we could bring our dog and she felt at home as well greeting everyone as if it were her own place. There is a lovely garden space at the back with plenty of seats and a shed to protect you from the elements. There are great walks nearby, long or short whatever suits your needs. It is only a short stroll to pubs and some eateries. Last but not least the host Ross is very friendly and always ready to help. Abbeyleix seems to have a great community spirit and the locals enjoy a chat. We stayed an extra day and were sorry to leave. But we will be back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Preston house. The location, rooms and staff were all wonderful. Great amenities, restaurants, pubs and walks all at the door step of the house in Abbeyleix. Looking forward to staying again and would highly recommend staying here.

We had such a wonderful stay at preston house, the building, location, staff are all wonderful. The house has a wonderful old classic and grand feel and is steeped in history. We enjoyed it so much we have decided to have our wedding there. Highly recommend.

It is a beautiful period house set in the centre of town.

There wasn't a TV in the bedroom and the one downstairs only had YouTube. The bed needed a warmer douvet.

Fantastic period house in the centre of a wonderful village. Full of charm, the house lended itself so well to our group booking: fabulous entertaining spaces and relaxing areas, fully stocked kitchen, open fires and beautiful lighting. It was dreamy. The bedrooms are beautiful and the beds are first class. Ross, the owner, is a gentleman and reccomended Bramley and Morriseys and both exceeded our expectations!

Could not fault it

The host was very helpful, communicative, and available when you needed him. He gave me some history of the building, which really brought its story to life. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was a dream. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. I plan to return in the future.

Very little. If I could recommend anything, it would be that the host uploads better pictures online, the current online pictures are underselling the place.

The accommodation was beautiful, comfortable and clean. The host, Ross, was extremely helpful and friendly. During our stay we met several local people and learned a lot about the area.

Sfeervol oud huis met mooie keuken waar we ook een eenvoudige maaltijd hebben bereid. Heel stil geslapen aan de achterkant van het huis. Mooie tuin. Ontbijt, self catering, was prima.

Aan de voorkant is een drukke weg. Hadden wij geen last van doordat wij aan de achterkant sliepen.

Easy to find on main street of town. Friendly welcome from Ross explained where everything was and made us feel very welcome. House is beautifully restored and lovely furniture added, it had real character. Able to make tea and coffee in kitchen and self serve breakfast. Could stay there for days!

Some of the taps were turned very tight probably because of dripping and I struggled to turn them on.

Nothing much - the tap in the kitchen dripped all the time but Ross had told us about that and we knew he had been trying to fix it.

The house is beautifully restored and was great for a big group. Ross and his team were incredibly welcoming and flexible to whatever we needed.

We stayed here for my dad’s 70th birthday and it was just perfect. It is beautiful decorated and so comfortable and spacious. All bedrooms were huge with very comfortable mattresses pillows and duvets. The kitchen was equipped with all essentials. The main living area had two huge tables to accommodate everyone and a gorgeous bar which we decorated. There are multiple other living rooms all beautifully decorated and fires in 2 rooms that we could light with wood provided. We had kids from 7 months to 6 years and they loved the space to run around and play. The house looks very luxurious but was very safe for them. We were afraid they would brake something but it was set up so there wasn’t stuff at there level they could break. The location is great with a supermarket, chipper, pubs, restaurant, playground in walking distance. We are thinking of staying again for my our next family occasion. Everyone enjoyed it so much and would love to return. Communication with the host was very easy with fast response and so helpful. They even let us check in early to set up decorations. The house is huge but the hosts had it so well heated it felt nice and cosy.

Preston House was a wonderful place to stay; the house itself was very spacious and very grand while also warm & homely! Ross checked in with me regularly to make sure I had everything I needed and assured me I could contact at any time should I require any assistance. On my last day, I lost my passport and was understandably very stressed. Ross couldn't have been more helpful and supportive. He went above and beyond to help me and actually managed to find my passport for me! Ross saved the day, and I was extremely grateful! I would highly recommend a stay at Preston House. Beautiful restored early 19th century house . The comfort of the beds, chairs and seating areas was second to known . No shortcuts were taken in the renovation of this property which makes it a perfect place to experience an old world atmosphere .

The whole house. Period property with so much much to see. Loved the place 100% Ross was great, early check in no problem. He could not do enough.

This surely is an exceptional house! Large rooms, plenty of space to sit and relax. Very well equipped kitchen to make your meals if you wish. Renovation is done with good taste and honoring the old house. Nice back garden too. Parking was easy, lots of parking slots just outside the house. We went to see the bog and had a nice walk there (The Abbeyleix Bog Project).

Preston house is full of character and the gardens outside are a great space to relax. Excellent location. All the local shops, restaurants and pubs in walking distance. Highly recommend staying at Preston House and I would definitely stay again. 🤗

Wonderful period property in the heart of a lovely town.

The hospitality on arrival from Ross, the proprietor was great. Also you have huge freedom, the use of the kitchen and the use of the pretty outside seating area.
