I had a wonderful time in this cottage. It is absolutely beautiful, very well-equipped, exceptionally clean, quiet, and lovingly decorated. I also slept fantastic during my stay. It’s perfect for curling up with a book on the sofa after a long hike in the evening. Simply magical! The communication with the owner was also flawless. Not having Wi-Fi was no problem for me. The listing’s description and photos are true to reality. Thank you for making this beautiful house accessible to guests, and I also appreciated learning about its history. I truly hope it will always be treated with respect. I highly recommend this place and would love to come back.
You’d have to be extremely picky to find any faults here. :-)
Quiet, quaint and relaxing. Lovely old-style. Well equipped kitchen. Great garden. A calm and quiet stay.
Wi-fi would have been helpful due to remote location.
Nous avons adoré ce cottage au calme chargé d'histoire familiale. Très bien équipé et confortable.
So cosy, warm, quiet and comfortable.
Nothing to report
Great historical setting that has been beautifully renovated. Great location.
Would have liked the details about checking in and accessing a little earlier.

We really enjoyed our stay. Lovely cottage in a very peaceful setting. Close to Letterkenny and ideal for a visiting Glenveagh National park. Clean with anything you could need. Would definitely recommend
Our first impression on opening the front door was the strong smell of Damp to the rear of the property it had a strong smell of Diesel, we left what we could in the car to avoid the smell getting on our belongings.
The surrounding areas
Character and family history of cottage. Surrounding sheep views.
Really delightful and well appointed accommodation. Totally private and so quiet. They have put a lot of love and care into the renovations of the old cottage.
Extremely helpful host and lovely cozy cottage
The charming cottage was well presented and perfect for self catering. The family story and old pictures add a nice historic feel to the cottage. The country setting was perfect for a rural retreat not too far from town amenities. Having a wood fire is icing in the cake.
Not too far from letterkenny but in the lovely countryside, the most precious lil cottage and surroundings, kids loved it
Location & the cosy cottage .
All good
Where do I start? It was BLISS!!. Everything you could possibly need. Washing machine, clothes airer, cooker, oven, microwave, toaster. Every utensil you could need.. Gorgeous comfortable beds and living space. Big bathroom with a corner shower. Just a short drive from Letterkenny centre but far enough to feel like you're a tiny speck in the middle of a huge field. The garden is just beautiful. So peaceful. The animals in the fields next door were so great to wake up and look outside to. We come to Co Donegal every year and this has been our best stay yet. On possibly the hottest weekend this year so far,, the garden was most enjoyable. We brought our own disposable BBQ and used the garden furniture in the shed, which was handy! We would be back in a heartbeat! No WiFi but didn't bother us in the slightest. Kids don't have Internet gadgets at home so made no difference to us here. Brought books from home to read at bedtime, we didn't bring any games but we didn't spend much time inside anyway so the kids played on their bikes/scooter outside and in the grassy part of the garden. For us a family the sleeping arrangements were great, just worth noting when booking that the access to the upstairs bedroom is through the downstairs bedroom via a spiral staircase and upstairs is 2 single beds. For us it was perfect. For some it might not be suitable. 100% will be back, and hopefully for longer!!! Love love love it. Keep it up!
My only negative would be that the duvets were very thick for this time of year (however I do understand it's not always this warm!) A thinner duvet with the option to add a blanket if its cold would be good.
Rural location History of building Proximity to lovely town Near National Park
Nothing we were very happy
Such a lovely cottage and very well equipped - obviously well loved by the family who own it
Only because of my age( 75) the very steep stairs to the bedroom above the main bedroom.
Beautiful little cottage in nice surroundings. Everything you need, with fully equipped kitchen. Very private with plenty of parking space for our motorcycles. Letterkenny only around 10 minute drive away. Great central location for exploring Donegal.

What a lovely historic cottage! We felt right at home. Loved watching the sheep play in the pasture from the kitchen window. Great place!
Traditional cottage, the setting was lovely,we had fantastic weather, surrounded by fields and lovely trees and bird song.everything was provided that we needed and more.rural yet a short drive to either a garage/shop or the large town of LetterKenny
Nothing
Convenient to both Letterkenny and Glenveagh, remote enough to have your own space.
There was a terrible smell of oil or paraffin the whole time. Honestly we all had headaches from it. The stairs to the upstairs is also in my opinion dangerous for getting up and down. There was some mould beside the bed upstairs. As much as I enjoyed reading the history behind the cottage, I found it to be cold and not worth the price paid given the overwhelmingly strong smell of oil.
Such a beautiful cottage, and it's location was perfectly set in the Donegal countryside.
We had everything we needed in our stay, such a nice place.
Beautiful old cottage, very well situated to visit Donegal or east Northern Ireland

Quirky , cozy . Out of town but not far

Difficult to find, especially as we arrived in the dark after a three hour travel delay. The property is on road number 6382 which is signposted and this information should have been in the instructions, also a sign saying Butler's Cottage should be on the roadside gate.
It was warm and cosy. Everything we needed was provided. Very clean and quaint. Perfect for our family, which included a busy 2.5 year old. Ideal location out of the of the town but near everything.

Lovely little cottage in a good location near Letterkenny. Comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. Good communication from the host. Would happily stay here again
Homely, clean, beautiful location.
The location was perfect. This short 2 day stay was amazingly refreshing due to this beautiful little cottage and its surroundings. The pony at the end of the drive was an added bonus.
I cannot think of anything.
The location was perfect for our desire to walk. Lots to do in the area and easy to navigate to and from the property.
The weather! Seriously, the place was good, definitely "cottage" style. Condiments and bread and milk made a welcome arrival.
Beautiful cottage and area. Had everything and more you needed and sheep were extra special bonus.
Double bed was slightly uncomfortable mattress bit thin but not the worst
Location quiet and lts of outdoor space
The ĺogs were damp so fire making a challenge.....but we managed.

Being out in the beautiful country with the sheep, birds, cows, and the horse at the end of the lane. We had carrots for it every morning . Host went above expiations for our miss-doings. Thank you
We are from the USA. Spoiled a bit I would say. Heat....nothing to do with the property. Just a different life style. We survived .
Pristine more then we could have hoped for!

Quiet, cozy and perfect location for our exploration of the area
The cozy and historic cottage in the country was perfect!!
Not applicable great place
Authentic old cottage, well located, very quiet.
There is no wifi. Bathroom a bit primitive.
Sinead was easy to reach and very friendly. Check-in was easy, and the cottage is a cozy, charming, lovely family gem. Squeaky clean - and interior that made you feel right at home!
As the cottage is over 100 years old, it is quite small - which was only an issue for us as my husband (who is 2m) couldn't stand upright in the bedroom and we didn't really have much space in the bed either. But if you're not as tall, it shouldn't be a problem. :)
Great location. A beautiful, very well kept cottege. Great value for money and surprisingly roomy.
No issues here. It suited us very well.
The cottage was very secluded and therefore very quiet.
Some things needed to be repaired and the owner promised to do that
de ligging, de rust en alles is er !
Spacious cottage. Nice quiet area. Stocked kitchen.
No wifi. The hot water was dangerously hot out of the tap.
All of it was excellent, a great wee cottage it wasl
We liked it all, nothing bad to say about it
Everything about this wee cottage is wonderful. Comfortable, cosy and quaint. Great location had everything you needed for a lovely stay. Thanks so much loved it.
Very cozy and was very homely
The bathroom could be more modern
Quiet location, comfortable cottage. Plenty of wood for the open fire.
Couldn't get the TV to work and no WiFi. Not an issue really but it would have been handy for weather reports, Google maps Spotify
The property is absolutely beautiful, photographs do not do justice to just how cosy and welcoming the Butler’s Cottage is. It has such a warm atmosphere and there are so many small details that make you feel incredibly comfortable. Everything was impeccably clean, we loved that the linen smelt of laundry detergent and there was not any indication that anyone had been there before us. This is the perfect getaway that we would recommend to anyone.
The stairs up to the loft bedroom with the two single beds is quite steep coming down. It didn’t bother us but is something to be mindful of for those who may find this challenging!

Butler’s cottage is outstanding in every way. Set in an idyllic location, the cottage is beautiful inside and out. It is spotlessly clean and is extremely well equipped. The open fire is a delight and the addition of a Christmas tree for our Christmas stay was so very thoughtful. Such a wonderful place to relax and unwind or to explore the local area from, and everyone was so friendly. The host was amazing, great communication and so friendly and thoughtful. Butler’s cottage is the best cottage that we’ve stayed at in Ireland. We would definitely recommend a stay at Butler’s cottage and can’t wait to return. Lynda & Trevor
It was perfect.
Lovely property in stunning surroundings- easy to find just off the main road. much larger than we thought and well kitted out with tea/ coffee, milk and bread. the owner was easily contactable and very helpful.
Very cosy cottage, well presented and clean.
I made my own. It was lovely.
Nothing. Done wat it said on the tin
Excellent location with Letterkenny about 10 minutes away. Very quiet without feeling isolated. A beautiful cottage and excellent for some star gazing when the clouds allowed.
Access to upstairs bedroom was through the master bedroom. I am being picky as it was very nice Warm and cosy and very good value for money.

Location was excellent, l wanted to visit a few locations that l had frequented as a child. Our holidays were all spent in Donegal. The area was really quiet and tranquil, but not remote. Our host was excellent, so helpful.
I can’t think of anything.
