The view
Cleaning wasn't up to standard
The house was roomy and cozy, with good furnishings, a spacious kitchen, and nice bathrooms. It was light and pleasing to spend time in. And the view was outstanding. John was an excellent and responsive host.
There were a few things that could have been better. Several pf the non-stick pans were damaged and u usable, and the wood stove glass was cracked. There were no bath mats. These were minor issues overall, though, and didn’t detract from our stay.
The location was beautiful and secluded. The cottage was very peaceful and comfortable.
Very comfortable and location
The property was located in a very quiet and secluded location and very peaceful with amazing views to see the sunrise and sunset.
The hot water takes time to come and runs out quickly and for a large group the showers used up all the hot water but this was manageable
It was a nice and secluded location with beautiful views, was an easy drive to popular locations such as downings. If you’re looking for good food close by mickey Stephen’s bar has great food and excellent service !!
Nothing it was great
Very nice views
Very poorly maintained, weird room location (e.g. you've to cross a bathroom to enter one of the rooms), noisy heating burner placed right next to the sleeping rooms (so not much sleeping as frequent waking up to loud noises), cleaning leaves a lot to desire (when we used the oven, it was so dirty that it started generating so much smoke that the fire alarm in the kitchen went off).
Very enjoyable and peaceful break
Views are breathtaking and great location.
The cottage was decorated for Christmas which made the stay exceptionally special. The cottage was located looking over the Lough and it had absolutely stunning views. The house had everything you needed for a comfortable stay.
With a stunning location overlooking Glen Lough with Muckish and Errigal in the distance, this spacious property and grounds have a view for all seasons. A perfect rural location for those who wish to unplug and reset, yet minutes from amenities, beaches and entertainment. Info from host was immediate and comprehensive upon booking. The house itself was toasty warm, the kitchen well equipped and the living areas/furniture were quality and comfy. Our dog too loved walking on the quiet back roads and has made us promise to return.
Cannot fault anything.
Everything. Lough View cottage is clean, comfortable, very well appointed, and is in such an amazing location. John was a great host, provided good communication before our stay and was on hand throughout with tips on where to visit locally etc. the property is remove, quiet, but about 30 mins to walk to the Olde Glen Bar, one of the best pubs in Ireland
Nothing
The view, very spacious, 4 bedrooms, well equipped with everything you need, very quiet area
The house needs a good deep clean, and some repairs, like the downstairs toilet
Fantastic Views over the lake and a peaceful location. Good size house with lots of beds. Smooth check in with a handy video sent to show us how to get to the house. Thanks John!
Towels are listed in the facilities but NOT provided. I only knew to bring them because of previous reviews . John did text me the day of arrival to tell me, but I was halfway to Donegal at that point . A suggestion would be to text people the day before to give them more notice to prepare, or make it clear on the facilities listing, they're kind of essential! The shower in one of the bathrooms was blocked. But we had a second one so that wasn't too inconvenient for our small group. Happy other than that, and I can recommend this rental for a great stay in Donegal !
Spacious cottage for sharing with family/ friends in a secluded setting. Great views and short drive to beautiful Donegal beaches and scenery.
nothing
Spacious and lovely decour with wonderful views and oh so very warm .
Beautiful views and very spacious
Exceptional views from the left side of the house, windows overlooking the lough in almost every room - bringing outdoors inside, feeling as one with the surrounding environment. So very peaceful! Comfortable and cosy home with main living area open plan, perfect for spending quality time together. We loved the log burner and the kitchen had everything supplied that we needed.
Nothing, we loved everything.
Lovely relaxing stay
Late check in early check out
We loved the beauty & peace of the location of Lough View cottage & what a view 👏Amazing Our host John was very helpful & friendly with great instructions to get there.
Location and view is fantastic. House and rooms very spacious and safe. Heating system is very powerful and heats up the house in minutes. Great value for money! It's great house and location for mountain lovers, very quiet around. Great and easy communication with host !
Maybe mattress in master bedroom needs to be replaced in the near future. Oven and trays need more deep cleaning. Not much to dislike...
Stunning views, well equipped, warm and comfortable house and pet friendly.
Slightly too far out of the way but that’s how you end up with the views so it’s worth it.
Cozy, well kept cottage at an amazing location with a stunning view. Plus nice owner with good communication.
Location was excellent and host John was very friendly and helpful. The house was very clean and comfortable and it was an excellent base to explore Glen and the surrounding areas.
The road leading to the property was a little bumpy so just be aware to drive slow and watch for any dips or holes. It's pretty rural though so nothing out of the ordinary for Donegal!
Beautiful location, very remote and picturesque. Perfect for a relaxing getaway. House was gorgeous, lovely layout and decor. The wood burner was great and made it extra cosy. Access to netflix was a bonus, especially for the kids in the evening when needed. Thank you. Everything we needed was available when we arrived for our youngest son- travel cot, highchair and a few toys. This was very helpful.
The water strength in the showers were quite weak. My husband found the bed uncomfortable - suppose depends what type of mattress your used to.
Beautiful house with lots of facilities and an amazing view
Could do with a tumble dryer, as the weather can be wet in Donegal, so drying towels can be a challenge. Also a shower downstairs
Views were absolutely amazing. Lots to do in the area. House is decorated lovely and cozy.
The road up to the house is tricky for about one km the car is dodging pot holes ( just a very small country road)
The scenery was spectacular, the house was well maintained and kept, the remote location provided a true get away and the hosts were great when dealing with queries etc.
Very little to dislike.
Remoteness, spaciousness, and scenic view made this stay exceptional! Using the EireCode made it easy to find despite remoteness.
Notice about the need to bring/supply our own towels & toiletries could be better reiterated. The use of the bins beside the kitchen could be noted more clearly. Maybe put a sticker note on each bin to identify “plastics/bottles/cans” or rubbish etc.
Loughview Cottage is exceptional! It has everything you could possibly need an want. Remote located, yet within a short drive of the nearest towns, STUNNING view and lots of space. We also love that fact we can bring the dogs with us. Host is extremely responsive and has been so helpful to us. This is our second visit and definitely won’t be our last - we love it and I highly recommend Lough View Cottage!

The space was amazing. Plenty of room for 9 guests. Very clean. Fully stocked kitchen.
Could do with a few oven trays but just been fussy
Beautiful setting with amazing views. Family trip. Grandchildren loved it didn't want to leave. Has everything you need fir your stay. Great outside space.
Our family really enjoyed our stay - the weather wasn’t good but that didn’t matter. We were cosy and the views were amazing.
Location was incredible. Stunning views. Very comfortable had everything we needed.
NOTHING
This was a self catering cottage
No plug-in sink in bathroom
Quiet, peaceful, isolated location but close to Glen, Downings and Carrigart. The view is unbeatable! Nice clean house with all the usual amenities including a pool table! Outside area is nice to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Donegal.
Beautiful Location. Clean house and spacious enough for all the family.
The property located in a quiet area with the view at Lough Glen. The house is very spacious and well equipped. The owners allowed me to spent time at the property with my 2 dogs sticking to some obvious house rules. Generally, the stay was hassle free with clear explanation from the owners how to get to property and some hints how to spent the time in that area the most interesting.
The area outside the house quite small.
