Location was perfect
I feel it could of been cleaner
The view was just sensational! Location was amazing!
Whilst the property was superbly located with exceptional views, it needs an overhaul. There is no sofa to relax on, there is a sofa bed but it is too small to stretch out or have 2 people sit together. Another chair is just too uncomfortable and stained to use. There is a very badly stained carpet throughout downstairs which is also in the small toilet and kitchen. It needs to be lifted and replaced. It is also unhygenic to have carpet in a toilet and kitchen. There is no TV, which is not a problem with that view, but might bother some people. The upholstery on the chairs and cushions is stained and shabby, also needs replacing. Beds are comfortable and clean and quite quirky up the ladder! Such a shame the decor lets it down, if you are renting out a property it needs to be clean and hygenic for use. It would be just fab if it was overhauled!
Incredible views. We have enjoyed them every time we stayed in the house. Very convenient location for exploring the area. We could find parking across the street so did not use the properties' one, but it is available if needed. The amenities are okay and as shown in the pictures. It was thoroughly cleaned, but the carpet had some old stains that, I guess, are not possible to remove. So, if you are expecting high-end, posh accommodation, this is not it. It is an old house with its own character and charm, and I would definitely stay there again. As noted in some other comments, the town is very charming, with plenty of places to hike and incredible views. However, it is also popular with partygoers from Belfast and Dublin, so Saturdays might be very noisy. Weekdays, on the other hand, reveal the full charm of both the town and the property. As mentioned in the description, there are no curtains, so be prepared for that. In summary, we enjoyed it very much and will definitely be back.
A little slice of heaven. Waking up to the call of the sea birds and a spectacular sunrise...would 100% recommend
Would have been nice to have some outdoor furniture as we spent all our time outside looking over the harbour
Amazing views, right in town.
Safe and clean
We had a fantastic stay at The Baby House. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of Carlingford and within easy walking distance of everything in town. It couldn't have been more convenient. The large window offers beautiful views and was one of our favourite features of the property. It made the space feel bright and gave us a lovely spot to relax and take in the surroundings. The bedroom is accessed by a ladder and has a low ceiling, but this is very clearly communicated in the property description, so there were no surprises. In fact, we felt it added to the charm and uniqueness of the stay, making it a memorable experience.
Location overlooking the water & castle. Close walk to town centre pubs & restaurants. Off street parking. Characterful building
There was just one big comfy chair.
We were blown away by the location. We hadn’t expected the exceptional views that we had of the marina and we didn’t expect it to be so close to the centre of the town. We were lucky to have found this place and it comes highly recommended!
Location.
Needs updating
Superb location. A truly amazing setting and view, made all the more spectacular by sunshine over our entire stay. Very convenient access to the village and a plus to have onsite parking.
The steep stairs to access the mezzanine floor and the bed are not for everyone.
The view, the view, the view and did I say "The View"
The view and location were outstanding!
The furniture was very dated and it was very hot upstairs. A fan would have been beneficial.
Location was perfect Scenery outstanding views stunning
Bedroom small but couldn’t be helped
Everything
Nothing
Great location. Quirky little house
Mezanin level was quirky but awkward for the older age group . . Lol 😆
The view, location, parking.
The ladder up to the bedroom and the ceiling height which was only about 4 foot ment you had to crawl on the floor. It is a major drawback to the property.
Everything needed for self catering supplied though we just had breakfast in as there are many good restaurants within five minutes walk. Spectacular views, the tide comes within a few feet of the house. This can also can be viewed from the mezzanine. Enjoyed the quietness.
I found the mezzanine a challenge. Ladder stairs were a bit straight, steps a bit narrow and ceiling low. I should have made use of the chair bed in the living room but just didn’t think of it until the day of checkout.
Shower and bathroom could have been better and kitchen facilities are very basic
The location of the Baby House is just perfect, & the views from the bay window are just outstanding. It's also dog friendly which is a big plus for us, as we are very limited in Ireland with dog friendly accommodation. Kieran was extremely helpful when we booked the accommodation, & when we arrived the heating was on & the Christmas Tree lights were on, it's just the little touches that made it extra special.
Beautiful view and excellent location as everything was close by. Having the pot belly stove to light was great and made it cosy. The beds were comfortable, including the single sofa bed. Good facilities and private parking beside the house.
Although it was very clear of where the beds were and having to use the ladder, it was one part I didn't like, but it would not put me off going back. If the ladder had been a bit wider, it would have helped also. It would have been nice if there were some drawers/shelves to put clothes on rather than having to keep items that we couldn't hang up in our bag. It would also have been nice to have a sofa to sit/lie on.
I loved the view, it was breathtaking in all weather's, watching the herons sitting on the rocks was great. The house was filled with homely items, the throws were useful at night, when we were tired. The house provided all the crockery that we needed and just loved waking up on the mezzanine to the incredible view every morning.
We were grateful for the chair bed as when my friend had too much to drink it was safer for her to sleep there, so not a problem. 🙄
The house is right on the harbour so you have amazing views. It's situated right on the main road and the town is just across the road.
Amazing location, view, privacy! We had such a comfortable and cozy stay.
Nothing, I would 100% stay again.
Could maybe do with some curtains
No Breakfast
bedrooms were dangerous to get to, up a ladder. the bedroom was in a loft and one could not stand there
Best location in town. Spacious and comfortable. Very comfortable beds.
The ceiling of the mezzanine is extremely low.
The Baby House on the Lough is just the most calmest place to be. The every changing view is exceptional and it is not overlooked. Pure perfection !
I know there is a pot belly stove that can be lit for heat and that there are heaters to use also, but if you are going out for big walk and coming back to house (soaked to skin and freezing) it would be great to have a heating system that could be timed for when you come back. Just takes a while for house to heat up with the heaters. We didn't want to light fire because we were going out for dinner.
The amazing view and bay window corner that made us feel like billionaires! The great location close to everything including shops and lovely walks as well as the feeling of space you have inside the house although it's 'the baby house'. Was surprised at how spacious it was actually.
The ceiling was just a bit low up on the mezzanine so it was a uncomfortable going up and down to and from it but for a couple days it's grand.
The view was outstaning, to wake up to that view every morning made the stay out of this world. It was amazing how close we were to everything.
The house was a little out dated i.e the rugs, furniture and lights, i think it just needs a bit of an upgrade. The view made stay unbelievable.
Location and views great
Heating, didn't help that there was a major storm and a second one two nights later.
Great view and location
Bed was a little uncomfortable
The view is stunning. Great location. Parking is included. Overall very cute spot.
The carpet on the ground floor is old and dirty. I don't feel it's hygienic to have carpet in the bathroom. I probably wouldn't stay again unless I knew this was replaced.
Amazing location, convenient to the town, fabulous view, private parking, bed very comfortable
A fan to cool the loft in the heat would have be really good.
Beautiful views over the Lough. Perfect location. Dog friendly.
The bedroom has a steep ladder and low ceiling. Whilst physically we had no issue with this, 2 night's was plenty. There are also no curtains/blinds. Personally I loved the view of the sun coming up but my partner didn't. Again any longer than 2 night's would have a difficult.
Great location, you are paying for the view. The mattress needs to be replaced
No corkscrew, the view is it
It is the location across the road from the village and the view across the harbour that are the saving graces of this venue. With no reception per se and heating being by log burning stove it would need a specific arrival time to organise this in advance.
Modern, comfortable furnishings and perhaps some form of central heating would not be unreasonable for the price. Definitely should be prior safety warning of the steep ladder to the sleeping area and that there is no adult standing room there.
The quirkiness, the view, the cosiness and comfort And the proximity to the sea and town. Parking was also appreciated.
I'm tall so the mezzanine was a bit tight, lacked headroom but other than that it was excellent. Very enjoyable.
