Knives are never sharp
The location for this cottage is beautiful. So peaceful and the Bellbird song was amazing. The facilities were great. We could have walked down to Akaroa but it was quite late and the road narrow so we took the car. We wished we had booked for two nights.
Nothing it was perfect.
Beautiful location, so quiet and gorgeous birds singing away and the lovely fantail saying hi each morning. 5 min drive into Akaroa. Loved the fireplace each evening. Size of the property was great.
Just so future guests are aware, no milk or washing machine powder provided. They are BYO. Everything else is provided.
Beautiful cottage, tastefully furnished, well equipped kitchen, everything is clean with a nice little porch and garden to sit for your morning coffee. I would gladly stay there again, but...see below
The listing features photos of a different cottage with sea view - so don't expect what is advertised in the photos. Those photos were our reason to spend more than other offerings to have a highlight stay on the end of our trip. When asked where the sea view is, the owner pointed that the listing on booking.com says only says "View" and "Garden View". We feel that this is quite misleading and disingenuous. The cottage is beautiful even with only garden view and does not need any misleading advertising to be booked by us - and probably all other guests. We sincerely hope the owner either removes the photos or adds the information that the sea view photos are a different cottage.
Very tranquil setting
Fantastic, comfortable cottage with everything you could need for a great stay.

Cosy cottage located in lovely quiet garden setting. Loved the fireplace.
All good
Great location and setting, warm and comfortable
Lovely tranquil location. The cottage itself was spacious and very comfortable

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. We were able to cook a great bbq and sit in the garden to enjoy it in the evening sun.
Nothing.
Delightful cottage.Well appointed ,very clean and spacious.Beautiful garden setting and very short drive to Akaroa itself.

“The cottage was comfortable and quaint, with a lovely, cosy feel that made our stay very enjoyable.”
It was a cold night and the firewood was limited.
The gas hot water meant there was lots of ( almost instant) hot water. The four of us had a shower after sea kayaking and another before bed. It was great not to have to worry about running out of hot water.
Private and quiet. Lovely setting and pleasant walking along the track to get to the village.
Found the mattress to be rather soft. A suggestion would be hooks behind the bathroom door for hanging clothes.
Nice place, good location. Had a log burner, washing machine and access to a tumble dryer.
Unfortunately there was no milk supplied, the very least to have been supplied at all of our other stays in NZ. Apparently, they only supply powdered milk. We also had to wash/clean various items before we could use them. We did advise the vendor. Disappointingly, we had been back in the UK for 2 days before receiving a response.
The cottage is in beautiful grounds and private. Had everything we needed and we highly recommend.
Beautiful peaceful location
Bed was uncomfortable Needed a good tidy up outside, cobwebs galore, no clothes drying rack, kettle needs to be replaced
Tolle Lage im Grünen mit viel Natur und Vogel-Gesang. Viel Platz. Technik hat funktioniert. Es war gemütlich. Sehr ruhige Umgebung, man gut ausspannen und ist trotz schnell in Akaroa.
Bedding is ok, nice environment. conveniently located
No oven provided, bad shower quality, lighting not enough, harming particles in water come out due to damaged kettle, should have more bowls and plates for back-up use, no garbage bags provided, no hood when cooking in kitchen, no anti-mosquito cover for windows. no scissors in kitchen
Certainy quiet and peacefull in a loverly native bush surrounding.
A bit of a challenge driving into the cottage, but the directuon ibstructions were good.
awesome location very relaxing best place best alround

We loved our stay at Kānuka Cottage — peaceful, beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean. The cottage has everything you need, from a cozy wood burner to a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely deck surrounded by native bush. It’s close to Akaroa but wonderfully private.
the place is awesome very relaxìng you melt into surroundings
everything was perfect .
Spacious rooms, cosy lounge with wood burner. Nice makeup table with good lighting. Good to have a TV in the bedroom. Good supply of wood and kindling. Heat pump was on when we arrived which was nice and welcoming. Kitchen well fitted out. A good supply of towels, face cloths, toilet paper, shampoo etc. Nice to have a place to lay suitcases and hang clothes. Nice and clean on the inside. Lovely and private with beautiful birdsong all around.
A few maintenance issues. Batteries in bedroom remotes were corroded. Microwave door wouldn’t open, even when unlocked. It would be nice to have a Smart TV for apps such as Netflix, Neon etc. Lots of cobwebs in outside seating area. The fake plants in window box are faded and full of cobwebs - not a good look on arrival. Some of the outdoor seating squabs had been left out by previous guests and were showing mould spots. We left them out for your attention.
Quiet clean as it described
None
Beautiful surrounds and birds
No sea views
Very clean and comfortable. Wood burning stove kept the whole cottage nice and toasty. Good cooking facilities and friendly staff.
Nothing - we will be back 👍
We travelled over from ChCh to take a break with family for one night and we were very happy with the set up for this amount of time. It was a lovely place to relax for a few hours all together. The cottage is beautifully renovated and very clean.
Couches are placed a little difficult for more than 2 people to watch the TV but I guess this is a space issue. It would have been nice to light the fire as it was such a cold weekend but there wasnt any information on this and it didnt appear to work well. The heatpump however was very efficient for warmth.
Peaceful wooded haven. Excellent and well tended house and surrounds with pleasing decor and comfortable furnishings. Lovely to hear bell birds with a morning coffee on the deck.
Nothing
Lovely sunny spot surrounded by trees. Very private considering there are multiple cottages etc on the property.
The furnishings are a bit dated (couches/artwork etc)... could do with an update for the price... a proper coffee machine/nespresso would be great!!
Kanuka Cottage was an ideal place for us to stay while we explored the Akaroa area. The cottage is close to restaurants and services but located just outside of town in a quiet setting where we were able to enjoy listening to native birds on our patio.
The beautiful private quiet native bush setting and birdsong
Set in lovely garden setting down treed drive with other cottages dotted around. 2Bedroom cottage with lovely sunny porch, large lounge and kitchen and big bathroom. Very clean, light and airy.
All good
The cottage was well laid out and very comfortably and tastefully appointed. The setting was gorgeous, very private and leafy. It was a lovely walk into Akaroa from the property. It was very relaxing just to sit on the patio and listen to birdsong. We appreciated the use of the dryer.
Other guests kept removing our laundry from the shared dryer before it was done.
Clean everything we needed beautiful location.
Great location. Very quiet and private. Loved the bird song and private walk way to the beach
Dish washer requires repair
Lack of view
Much better than the photos!!! A great cottage in a lovely, quiet location. Such comfy seating in the open plan lounge. Huge TV! The main bedroom was perfect for us. I really liked that there were place mats to prevent any damage to bed side table surfaces and for the lounge.( I do travel with a couple of coasters- I know its a bit odd !!!) Good shower. The covered outside seating area was a fab place for relaxing with a good book.
Jolly miffed we hadn't booked a longer stay!
The cottage is adorable, comfortable, has everything we needed.
Surrounded by beautiful bush and native birds. Love the artworks.
Nice spacious lounge. Location was quiet and close to Akaroa for those with a vehicle. Sky TV was good. Parking space was great. We enjoyed our stay overall.
Some areas could have benefitted from extra cleaning, such as filthy windows and spiders. Crockery was a minimum for four so we needed to wash every time we used cups and plates. Second bedroom was small and really more set up for kids. Info on the connection to the track would have been helpful but we discovered this ourselves.
Quiet and spacious
Nothing
The location was lovely, peaceful, and quiet.
Would have been nice to have access to a vacuum cleaner. No complimentary washing powder.
Hidden away and quiet with wonderful bird noises to fall to sleep and awaken too.
Driveway is a bit hairy if a car is coming and one is outgoing… otherwise no issues
Great location, very peaceful. The cottage had everything we needed, will definitely be coming back
Married at tjis location 17 years ago bought our daughter back for her 21st so glad we did. Was so lovely to be back at what was loch hill
Absolutely nothing except needed 4 nights not 1 night!!!
Very good cottage, plenty of space. Very clean & tidy.

Perfect spot for our two days with the grandies
Everything!! Great place, so cost and close to the shops, wharf, etc. very peaceful
Nothing. Great stay.
The fire was lovely in this cold weather. Comfy beds and lovely bedding with electric blankets. Clean and spacious. Nicely decorated.
Great location and would be even more enjoyable in summer
Mid winter booking but arrived with no heating on. Nice to have the fire however it took a lot of kindling to get the big logs burning
The cottage was spotless and well maintained. The main bedroom is really big. It was late autumn and cold outside, the beds has electric blankets and heaters in the rooms. The lounge/kitchen had a heat pump and a fire which was perfect. A lovely walking track into town. Would defiantly stay there again :-)
Nothing.
Excellent location and loved the fire
Nothing. We loved it all.
Superb location. Private and close to akaroa centre. Quick drive to food places. Beautiful environment, heaters and electric blankets worked well, v warm and comfortable. Housekeeper started a fire to warm up the house for us before our arrival on a cold day. She responded immediately to my text messages too. Book on akaroa was v informative and useful on what to do and where to eat.
Location and a quiet relaxing stay.
Nothing.
Everything, great private little house, just ideal, and surrounded by bird song.
Nothing
It was lovely and clean and peaceful
The setting
The fact that we had paid and couldn’t access the cottage. We didn’t receive the key code until the day after we were suppose to stay there!!!!
So peaceful, birdsong life and song lovely,so close to township and everything you needed
There was nothing to not like
The perfect accommodation for our five-night stay in Akaroa. Clean, well-maintained, surprisingly spacious, and well equipped. It felt very comfortable and just like being at home. Particularly loved the shower pressure, the makeup table, the privacy, the comfortable bed, the covered deck and the wood fire. The hostess was responsive and happy to drop off extra supplies during our stay.
