Exceptionally clean and cosy
the preparation of the property in advance of our stay was very evident. lovely fire was set , beds were spotless , garden is beautiful and location was and is fantastic - easy and quick
there wasn’t anything i didn’t like
The old house has a lot of character and is well-kept.
A lovely cozy house with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Anthea was so helpful with many recommendations for things to do in the area and even dropped off a complimentary bottle of wine for us to enjoy. Would love to stay again in the future.
Nothing
Really lovely gardens - peaceful, quiet, private, mature trees, different areas. Like a world of its own. House had really nice character, sensitively modernized but not at all blingy. Our trip was a short one but this would be a lovely place to spend a few days, with time to cook, eat & enjoy just being there.
It's be nice to have a second bathroom. The small double bedroom is really very small, with almost no room for anything other than the bed. Maybe a bench in here for clothes & bags, with space under for shoes etc. would be more useful than a chest of drawers? And a bed with enough space under it to slide in a case & shoes? The fridge in the hall outside the bathroom is a bit of a nuisance - is a wood-burning stove in the kitchen really necessary? (We were there in a summer heatwave so we couldn't tell!).
The location was remote, which was what we wanted. The decor was well-done and it had everything we could need. We were just sad we booked for one night only. Would've loved a longer stay.
WiFi was a little weak, but that was to be expected given the remote location.
Great accommodation. Highly recommended
Great location
Such a beautiful house and host!
Nothing
Alles sehr unkompliziert, sehr nette Gastgeberin!
Host was wonderful. Brilliant instruction on how to get there and loads of information about the area. Couldn’t have been more helpful
Would have like a second bathroom but it was an authentic Irish house so didn’t affect us
Check in was easy, the host provided lovely recommendations for nearby, and the location is stunning. The house itself is gorgeous and gives you the perfect rugged vibes.
Just the one washroom downstairs can get tricky in the morning, but otherwise no issues at all.
Fabulous cottage , in a beautiful location. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Everything is provided to ensure a great stay. Would recommend to couples and friends looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet to explore the surrounding areas
Setting was beautiful and serene. The farmhouse was cozy and welcoming. Highly recommend!
The property is located in a quiet and all necessities are available.
None.
This is a gorgeous cottage - the pictures don’t really capture how quaint and pretty the home is. The garden is stunning too and the views from the property are beautiful.
The only small downside were the beds - not the most comfortable for me - other than that I would have scored it full marks.
This place was so cosy we stayed for one night, 3 sisters. The fire was set for us in the kitchen and sitting room, it took some time to heat up, but when it did the place was really toasty. Beds had electric blanket on each one, bed linen was fresh smelt lovely, bed needed the electric blanket as was cold, it been February. Kitchen had all that we required. Sitting room was cosy. Don't expect 5*, it's a rustic farmhouse. Bathroom was nice and big with beautiful tiling and large shower, beautiful sink and the rustic wooded sink surround was beautiful. Would have loved to have sat outside and enjoyed the lake view but unfortunately the weather was cold and wet. Right up the road we visited Geokaun Mountain and Fogher Cliffs fantastic views, we also went to the Slate mine and down to the Lighthouse. Absolutely fantastic scenery on our doorstep. I would definitely return here again and would definitely recommend Boss's Farmhouse.
Everything
Kitchen, bedroom, sitting room, bathroom garden all great. Location is outstanding. Host really efficient and good communicator. Spotlessly clean.
Beautiful, charming, great value for money
The setting was incredible, an old, remodelled farmhouse that was equal parts charming as comfortable. The bedrooms were cozy, the bathroom amazing, the kitchen had an old feel to it and one could get a sense of old Ireland! I had my morning coffee in the garden listening to the birdsong and sheep. I highly recommend this place; it is perfect for couples or families. We did the Skellig Michael landing tour the following day which was outstanding!
Adorable place, perfect Ireland experience! Great location for Skellig Michael trip. We had 2 adults and 3 large teens and we all slept great. This house perfectly blend countryside charm with modern amenities.
Get your groceries before you head to Portmagee or Valentia. Everything nearby closes early.
The setting was lovely. Quirky house. Thank you to the host for bringing us a yummy pie and cream.
We had trouble figuring out how to work the dishwasher and the stove. A couple of other things went awry, but our host was helpful right away and things were rectified.
Good quiet location and a lovely house
The farmhouse was lovely and peaceful. A welcome respite from hotels. Had everything we needed and was cozy, comfortable and charming. Our host was wonderful and very accommodating.
That we didn’t stay longer!
Great view, spacious, lovely little stoves. Great bathroom and kitchen!
No complaints
Beautiful farmhouse in great location. Equipped with everything we needed. Lovely rural setting
Absolutely nothing to dislike
We appreciated the kind thought of a welcome bottle of wine on the kitchen table! We enjoyed the open fire with local peat to burn.
It would be helpful to say in the directions that the entrance is unmarked and is opposite "Old Stone Cottage". The stairs and first floor are very squeaky, and as the accommodation is for 6 people it would have been great to have a second toilet.
Fantastic house, fantastic location, warm welcome. Traditional Irish farmhouse with lovely decor and amazing peat fires. High quality shower, soft beds. Only 2 of us staying here, but it really felt like home from home. Handy location to explore everything on the island and around the Ring of Kerry if that is what you want.
Nothing!
A hidden gem, the photos don’t do it justice
Beautifully decorated & very cosy
Beautifully decorated. Very clean Snug
The location was superb - close to both Valentia town and Portmagee, and the breathtaking Skelling Ring landscapes. The short hike to Bray Head on Valentia gave spectacular views of the Kerry Cliffs, and Skellig and Blasket islands. Wild and wonderful, Valentia is a very special place to explore.
Our only, slightly negative feedback to our lovely host was the main bed was a bit too short for my 6'2" husband, and a bit too soft for a sound night's sleep. Other than that, it was a unique cottage with every other comfort well planned out and obviously well-cared for by Anthea.
It's charm. It was very well kept and the kids loved it. The owner had thought of detail in order to make you welcome. Little things that a family needs were well catered for. And then if that wasn't enough she came over to welcome us. Very kind. The house and the setting is beautiful.
No complaints.
Simply amazing stay at this truly wonderful location. The house is so cosy and is a great place to base yourself for local travel. It has everything that you would need for a relaxing stay and I just wish I had more time to enjoy this stay and the Island. I shall be back 👌
We did not stay here it had a sewage problem so Kathleen gave us The Blue Cottage Valentia
We arrived at Blue Cottage and outside looked like a building site. When we entered the property the damp fusty smell was awful. It alk looked clean and bathroom was newly refurbished. But unfortunately the bed linen was damp and fusty. We tried to get alternate place ro stay but everywhere was booked up. Do not stay at The Blue Cottage Valentia.
The house couldn't be cuter!! Large, updated bathroom. Had a lovely evening relaxing. Hoping to return one day to spend a few more nights exploring the island.
beautiful, authentic cottage on middle of island. great kitchen en sleeping rooms. we loved it!

Fires blazing when we arrived, very comfortable and homely atmosphere. Host couldn't be more helpful. Will definitely return
We loved the peat/wood burning stoves in the living room and kitchen. The electric bed heaters, Netflix and all the items needed to heat the stoves was great. Host was very helpful finding catering for our Christmas dinner and help with some minor issues. Loved the big shampoo/conditioner and soap in the bathroom.
Honestly, the only problem we had was figuring out which side of the road the property was on. We couldn't find an address or a name on a mailbox.
lovely house although a bit damp perhaps.
we arrived as a family of five late in the evening and it would have been nice to have a small welcome such as milk in the fridge and tea bags.
Love the style of the house. Very homely and cosy! Great location and it was so nice to be able to sit in the garden and have breakfast! Very peaseful
Found it very dark coming in at night. Some extra lighting outside would be good
cozy, remote, comfortable
