Valentia Island Escape

The location on the Adriatic sea.The beautiful coast line. Wonderful host who provided information on local places to visit and the best seafood. The best place we stayed whilst driving around Ireland.Would highly recommend.

Acommodation based on caravan, bus, even ship! Interesting idea. Good heater and heated blanket to make caravan a warm stay.

Wir wollten eine außergewöhnliche Unterkunft und haben sie hier bekommen. Wir hatten das Boot und waren damit sehr zufrieden. Das Doppelbett hatte eine Heizdecke, die bei dem starken Wind und Regen draußen hervorragend war. In den Bug des Bootes zu kommen war selbst für kleinere Menschen ein Erlebnis, aber das trug nur dazu bei, die Unterkunft interessanter zu machen. Schlafen ließ es sich dort gut. Die Duschen und Toiletten waren in Ordnung, das Gelände war sehr schön. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und vielseitig (Rührei, Obstsalat). Die Pancakes wurden hier in den Kommentaren ja bereits vielfach gelobt, wir können dies auch bestätigen. Brendan war super und gab uns Tipps zur Besichtigung der Insel. Wir würden wieder hier übernachten!

Es roch anfangs etwas muffig. Im Bug des Bootes tropfte es durch den starken Regen etwas durchs Fenster (auf den Boden, nicht die Betten).

Es un sitio peculiar. Dormimos en el barco y aunque tenía poca fe está bien aislado. Tenía hasta manta eléctrica por si tenía frío. El desayuno genial, la gente que lo lleva excepcional.

El único pero es que las duchas más cercanas no tenían agua caliente y hubo que ir un poco más lejos pero no pasé frío.

Die Gastgeberin war sehr sympathisch. Das Frühstück ausgezeichnet. Die Unterkünfte sehr originell.

Das Bett war zu klein.

Cool style of accommodation. Stayed at the end of the season probably nicer in summer. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Location on the island isn't great nothing really nearby. Need to get in car or have a bike to go anywhere, island is hilly so ebike really. Hard to look past alternatives in Knightstown which is more accessible & has sights to see.

Fantastic location, easy to find, curious “rooms”, great breakfast, all shared facilities available and working, we used the common kitchen to prepare our dinner and lunch too.

So fabulous! We stayed in the bus, which was charming. The entire property was outstanding. we missed breakfast because we were headed to the Skellig Islands, but it smelled delicious.

Be prepared for spiders in the bus. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it definitely kept us on our toes.

Nous avons eu beaucoup de pluie cette nuit et donc de l'humidité dans la caravane. Les douches où il est difficile de ne pas tremper ses vêtements secs.

La originalidad de las habitaciones, ya que cada una es diferente y son bonitas. Bien equipadas. En un ambiente muy agradable (te sientes en plena naturaleza). El personal es muy amable. El desayuno es rico y completo.

Todo bien, la única pega es que las duchas están casi al aire libre y son un poco incómodas.

It was quirky. Not at all what I expected but a very earthy and back to nature kind of camping experience. Brendan is a great host and I like what he is trying to do with his sustainable camping

I’m not sure I’d want to sleep in the caravan again.

Stayed in the airstreamer first impression- oh cool. Second impression - as we opened the door oh it smells musty Third impression - oh the beds uncomfortable Fourth impression - why does bedding smell bad The towels smelled and felt worn out The musty smell didn’t leave even after we left the door open for a few hours. Wouldn’t rush back but it’s ideal for budget. I feel like the whole place could do with better management.

De mega koude douche die bij onze geboekte caravan hoorde, die zou warm zijn maar was helaas ijskoud. Je bent wel meteen wakker, dat dan weer wel.

Excellent brekkie. Brendan was a fabulous host and staff were very friendly.

We stayed for 3 days. A fresh supply of towels would be amazing. But that was my only fault .

Phoned accommodation early in the day to be told that it was self check-in and to phone again closer to our arrival. Late check in would not an issue. Phoned from two different numbers for over an hour. No answer. Drove to the accommodation not knowing if we could even access the room. Luckily there was someone there when we arrived who told us Brendan was gone to bed, bearing in mind there's a sign at the door stating if there's issues to phone him. •Room damp •Bedding damp couldn't use two beds •Freezing Cold shower Requested vegan breakfast at booking nothing available for a vegan only fruit. Was asked if we have brought our own milk Having paid for breakfast this was a disaster. Speaking to Brendan, I found him rude and condescending. When he learned we were not satisfied with the service he no longer wanted to speak to us.

Great location and loved the stone cottage with a full kitchen. Very comfy and would recommend.

The showers by the cottage could have better dry areas to put your clothes while using the showers.

Absolutely perfect! We stayed in the bus and really enjoyed our night there and the day in Valentia. We rented bikes on site (better if you let them know in advance to make sure they have enough) and discovered the island by bike. The hosts were amazing and super friendly. The breakfast absolutely fantastic! 100% recommended

Fabulous breakfast of fruit, cereals, yoghurt, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bread, teas, coffees etc.

It's a quirky caravan site tucked away in lovely grounds very near knightstown and portmagee on Valentia Island in the heart of the stunning Skellig Ring. Kids or groups would love this site but it's also private for couples and people travelling solo. There's a cosy renovated cottage for gathering outside of the caravan day or night. Plenty of toilets and showers so there's never any queues. Heaters and electric blankets ensure even the wettest nights are cosy under the fabulous tin roofed canopies. Fabulous breakfast spread with a range of fresh fruit, juices, cereals, scrambled eggs and even pancakes! Brendan and his kids are great hosts.

The Double bed was ok. But additional beds were unsuitable to sleep in and my companion ended up sleeping on couch. Bed clothes were not fresh as they smelled of mildew. Also a pair of underwear found under cushion on couch. I left it there for you to dispose of.

Payer 140€ pour loger dans une caravane pleine de courants d’air avec un lit de couple étroit et sans en être prévenus lors de la réservation nous a paru très exagéré. Être atypique ne donne pas tous les droits…

We had an incredibly nice stay at Island Escape. We were there for two nights but honestly, we could have easily stayed longer. The vibe among the campers was super relaxed, and even as someone over 2 meters tall, I had plenty of space in the bed and slept really well. Breakfast, served in the large stone house starting around 8:00 (or earlier if arranged with the host), was absolutely fantastic – great coffee, a variety of cheeses, and the fresh scrambled eggs and pancakes prepared daily by the host were top-notch. The showers and sanitary facilities were clean, and the whole little camper village is just incredibly charming and cozy. A special shoutout to the host and his family – they were super welcoming, always had great recommendations for things to do in the area, and we really enjoyed the nice chats we had with them. Highly recommended – we’d come back anytime!

Nous avons apprécié la grande pièce de vie qui permet d'échanger avec les autres voyageurs et Brandon qui était présent tous les matins pour nous préparer un délicieux petit déjeuner (œufs, pancakes...).

Nous avons eu un climat exceptionnellement froid. Difficile d'être motivé par une douche à l'extérieur.

Nous ne som.es pas resté , n'avons pas passé de nuits dans cet endroit. Lors de notre réservation, le retour était que nous avions 2 chambres de luxe avec tout le comfort dont 2 grands lits, en arrivant avons trouvé une cabane de bricoleur à laquelle il a été rajouté une proue de bateau, en rentrant dans la 1ere pièce une désagréable odeur, 1 seul grand lit, puis dans la proue 2 petits lits d'enfants et pour rentrer il faut se mettre à quatre pattes!! Cela ne correspond pas du tout à la publicité que l'on nous a envoyéé et le tarif est très élevé pour ce genre de prestation

La publicité mensongère qui est faite à propos de cet établissement!!! Le non respect des personnes, le propriétaire avait promis le remboursement et on n'a toujours rien reçu, personne malhonnête

C'était juste le paradis sur terre, au milieu de cette île, une petite caravane vous attend avec votre terrasse personnelle ! Et le petit déjeuner préparé minutes avec pancake et omelette était délicieuse ! Je recommende a 200%

Very quirky spot.. Very well laid out. Brendan was an excellent host. Very accommodating as we were a family of 8 adults our original accommodation was tight so he kindly upgraded us to an extra space. We stayed in the bus, boathouse and gypsy caravan. Toilets and shower blocks were spotless. Brendan cooked us delicious pancakes and eggs for breakfast and also had a lovley spread of fresh fruit Yougurt and bread. Fantastic value overall

Breakfast was generous and delicious. Loved the pancakes. The room was more than adquate, cozy and the bathrooms were clean and convenient. Perfect location for everything in Valentia Island and going to Skellig Islands. Loved how quiet the place was and enjoyed the company of Brendan and staff. Great deal on electric bikes which we loved touring around Valentia Island. Wouldn't look to stay anywhere else than here when we come back to Valentia Island.

Nice location, welcoming host, clean facilities and superb breakfast.

Our room was extremely smelling humidity and mould. Even we kept the window and even door open all the time we are in, all our clothes smelled mould, I don’t say even how unhealthy it is. I am surprised that only one review comment mention about this. Worth to check before booking.

Excellent location. A unique and original place. Brendan is a great host. Super breakfast.We spent only 2 nights but everything was perfect. The island is easily visitable and truly offers fantastic views. The locals are very friendly, we recommend an evening at The Ring Lyne pub.

This is the coolest place on the island! If you're looking for something different, affordable and comfortable, this is for you! It's the perfect location to reach all points of the island easily. The accommodation is so quirky yet very comfortable and very clean. The breakfast is so fresh and tasty. The communal toilets and showers were spotless. There was so much privacy in how each quirky accommodation was laid out together. Be sure to visit the only beach on the island, Glanleam (10mins away) and Goerkan Mountains (8 mins away) for the most stunning views of the island and Kerry.

Amazing unique place, grounds are very well kept and all the plants among the caravans give privacy and look great. Big communal kitchen area which is also very nice! And a good variety of very healthy things for breakfast. I'm vegan, and the owner didn't have any plant milk on the first morning, but bought some for me for the next morning which was very kind. We went to Driftwood Surf Cafe for dinner one night and I strongly recommend a visit here, the best view I've seen from a restaurant, and food is very good!

Only the weather was bad during our stay, we had booked a landing tour of the Skellig islands, which couldn't go ahead. We stayed here 2 nights, and spent one day in bed in the caravan because the weather was too miserable to go exploring. It would be good if they had a constant stock of non dairy/plant milk. I learned on our trip exploring Southern Ireland that the country isn't very vegan friendly if eating out. Maybe not enough people ask for plant milk to warrant a constant supply?

A fun, unique place to stay. Ground were well kept and the unit was clean.

Brandon macht die besten pancakes! Das Frühstück war insgesamt sehr gut mit frischem Obst und Rührei! Die Lage war gut - wir sind vom Retrocamp zu den Klippen gewandert und von dort weiter zum Leuchtturm. Die Anlage war wunderschön gestaltet mit vielen Pflanzen, auch als Sichtschutz zwischen den Caravans.

Unser Caravan hatte leider wenig Stauraum, d.h. kein Schrank oder Box. Die größeren Caravans sind da besser ausgestattet.

Host Brendon was amazing. The boat cabin we stayed was a great experience and breakfast was delicious. Restaurants nearby served outstanding seafood. Will definitely visit again.

We would have preferred if the blinds/ curtains in the trailer were all black out as the sun/ lights outside during the night did wake us up, but wasn’t a major issue at all!
