אין נקודות חשמל בקירות. מקלחון קטן וצר שאי אפשר להתכופף בו כדי לרחוץ את הרגליים. חדר עם ריח מעופש (מחוסר איוורור). הדרישה לתשלום במזומן בלבד הפתיעה אותנו. ארוחת בוקר די דלילה בלי ירקות/סלט. בעלת המקום נותנת מפתח כניסה לחדר+מפתח כניסה למתחם המלון(6 חדרים יש בו) ומאז לא רואים ולא שומעים אותה עד הבוקר. אין קומקום בחדר לקפה/שתיה חמה.

Breakfast could be better

Breakfast was lovely - basic food but nicely presented with fresh squeezed orange juice and hot coffee served with warm milk. The location was super.

The room was a bit dark and there was only one useable charging outlet by unplugging bedside lamp. These are very old buildings though so this is to be expected perhaps and forgiveable.

Ambiente muito acolhedor e tudo impecavelmente limpo e sem sinais de deterioração. Modesto mas com qualidade. Nada de coisas de mau gosto. O terraço é óptimo para se estar. Seja a ler ou conversar. Muito bem localizado. A sra. D. Ana Paula uma simpatia e sempre sorridente.

Do colchão. Talvez tenha que ser virado mais vezes, ou substituido.

The place was incredibly charming and in a fantastic location. Ana was amazing and very accommodating. And she made a delicious breakfast!

Friendly and helpful communication, great breakfast, perfect location, amazing views, beautiful and comfortable rooms with all amenities.

The hotel is well located in the centre of the village. There are some street parking spaces very close, and others about 150 metres away, near the entrance to the village (at the top of the hill). It is within easy walking distance of the three restaurants in the village (the largest of which is only open for lunch). I received messages from the owner (Mr. Mateus) on the day of the reservation, asking me to confirm the time of arrival. The hotel does not have staff in attendance during the day, but once I had confirmed the arrival time, Sra. Ana was there to welcome us and to provide the room keys. She was lovely. Payment is taken at the time of check in. There are only two payment options - bank transfer (which is easy is you have a Portuguese bank account) or by cash. There is an ATM in the village if more cash is needed. Sra. Ana also takes the breakfast order at the time of check in. Breakfast consists primarily of cold food items: cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cake, ham and cheese. Freshly cooked eggs are also available, along with tea, coffee and toast. There was plenty of food to fill us up. We were happy with our 'Deluxe Double Room' and our daughter's Twin Room. They were clean and well presented. There was a shared outdoor terrace next to our room.

Our main concern was the lack of internet service. Four of us all tried to connect using different devices. Whilst we were able to connect to the wifi network without a problem, the network itself did not have an internet connection. I contacted the owner to report this problem and he told me that none of the previous guests had ever reported a problem (yet there are a number of reviews that specifically mention the poor internet, or lack of it). He seemed to lack an understanding of the technology, as he suggested that we were using an incorrect password. I had to reiterate a number of times that we were successfully connected to the wifi but that there was no internet service. I suggested that rebooting the router might reactivate the service. He sent his nephew to the house to investigate and sometime later told us that he had attended and that there was in fact a wifi signal - once again not understanding the problem! Yes, there was a wifi signal because we had all connected to it - but the network had no internet service. He then told me that he was unable to fix the internet service problem as it was a weekend. Fortunately for us, two of us have Portuguese mobile phones with data service. The following morning, whilst we were eating breakfast, the nephew returned to the hotel and seemed to be rebooting the router. Some minutes later, he announced that "It's working now" and left. When my grandson checked his phone, the same problem existed. We were leaving the hotel after breakfast, so it was no longer a problem for us. In fairness to the hotel, the problem might have been an outage at the network provider, but the lack of understanding shown by the owner was frustrating. Of a minor nature - there is a corkscrew with an attached bottle opener in the kitchen drawer, but the bottle opener is broken and useless. That will probably also make it difficult to turn the corkscrew to open a bottle of wine.

- stiff open coil mattress - multiple layers of comforters instead of a proper blanket - breakfast is very simple: eggs of your choice, 2 slices of cheese and ham, coffee, fresh juice, bread, and fresh fruit - one of the rooms has direct access to the shared balcony and no other windows - bright white bulbs - damp smell inside the room

Charming hotel, town - completely enchanting. The attention to detail at this place is top notch. Anna is the the perfect host - pleasant, attentive, and responsive.

Coming from the States, we are used to a bed larger than a full - just made for a 'cozier' sleep.

A wonderful place with a fantastic atmosphere and a very good location, with parking available nearby. The view from the small balcony overlooking the beautiful city adds a special charm. Great contact just before arrival.

On the downside, the bed was quite uncomfortable — any movement from one person caused the other to bounce on the mattress. A minor issue was the leaking water in the toilet. But what really took away from the overall experience was the lady serving breakfast and handling reception — she gave the impression of being there against her will and didn’t seem too pleased that we had arrived.

Tricky place to get

This is a unique town and a wonderful hotel. Anna made our trip totally enjoyable! What a great breakfast, great location, and most, especially a great hostess!

A casa é linda! Antiga mas bem agradável. Fica dentro de Monsanto em local de fácil acesso. A Ana Paula que nos recebe é ótima. O Jorge Mateus me mandou mensagem antes de chegarmos perguntando o horário para a Ana Paula nos receber e deu tudo certo.

Achei a Cama um pouco pequena. Mas o quarto também era pequeno.

Foi uma estadia de 2 noites maravilhosa e não só gostávamos de ter ficado mais tempo, como queremos mesmo voltar. O quarto era bastante confortável, sempre muito limpo, com ar condicionado, porta de acesso ao terraço, perfeito. O pequeno-almoço muito completo, com fruta fresca, sumo de laranja natural, ovos mexidos caseiros, bolinhos locais, tudo delicioso. Queremos deixar uma saudação especial para a Sra. Ana Paula, uma fonte de simpatia, incansável, que tornou ainda mais especial a nossa estadia em Monsanto. Recomendo 100%.

Ao chegar a Monsanto, o casario de pedra parecia murmurar histórias de séculos passados. Mas foi à porta da Casa Pires Mateus que encontrámos o verdadeiro espírito do lugar. Recebidos com afabilidade por Jorge, o anfitrião, e pela delicada simpatia da D.ª Ana Paula, percebemos de imediato que não estávamos num alojamento qualquer — estávamos em casa. A casa, sólida e granítica como a própria aldeia, conserva a alma beirã sem abdicar do conforto. Os quartos, amplos e meticulosamente cuidados, oferecem vistas deslumbrantes sobre o casario e a natureza envolvente. Ao despertar, a luz da manhã invade os espaços com uma serenidade quase litúrgica, prenunciando um pequeno-almoço servido com atenção e esmero — pão fresco, fruta da época, doces caseiros, e uma palavra gentil. A localização, junto à Igreja Matriz e à entrada das ruas de calçada irregular, convida a caminhar sem pressas, descobrindo recantos escondidos, muralhas antigas e paisagens que cortam a respiração. A Casa Pires Mateus não é apenas um local onde se dorme: é onde se repousa, se contempla e se saboreia o tempo. É um refúgio para quem procura autenticidade, tranquilidade e um contacto genuíno com as raízes portuguesas. Monsanto é, por direito, uma das aldeias mais belas do país. E a Casa Pires Mateus é, sem dúvida, o seu coração acolhedor. Quem lá fica, leva um pedaço da Beira no peito — e vontade de voltar.

離公車站很近，但是坡很陡。 民宿人員看我很吃力爬坡，幫我扛登機箱。 陽台部分可以看到市容的景，滿漂亮的。 早餐很豐富，吃得很好。 我東西忘了拿，民宿老闆還幫我們寄到我下個飯店。

那邊大約晚上七點就沒什麼東西吃，餐廳都只有中午的比較多。只有雜貨店，也不大方便自己煮。 幸好我們坐一天車，路上有買三明治材料，沒吃完的加上有買水果，度過第一晚。第二晚走到山下約一個小時的腳程，想吃點熱的，買回櫛瓜跟冷凍火雞肉片，遇到服務的人員，非常生氣對我們說我們用了油煎節瓜，她沒跟我們多收錢，我們憑什麼用？！ 我很傻眼，你不是說可以自由使用廚房，這邊有什麼，可以用。 最後她卻說只有鹽巴跟胡椒可以用，廚房只能來熱食物，例如用烤箱加熱。 當初說清楚，不就好了嗎？有必要如此嗎？何況我只用一匙油。本想給她錢，她生氣說完就走了。 這種經驗非常不好，因為山裡而且偏遠地區，吃東西也不方便，卻沒有同理招待之心，要不規則說的更詳細一些會避免衝突。 民宿幫我們叫計程車，說好是60歐，我就沒試著叫bolt(類似uber, bolt=50歐）結果最後說按表跳，最後收了75歐。 為了看這個小鎮，花了一整天坐車，還得重金坐計程車（因為小鎮假日沒公車下山）離開，卻有這些不好經驗。 另外免費wifi超級微弱，只有在二樓時可以正常用，所以只能消耗自己的網卡找資料或路。

Ótima localização, bem ao centro da aldeia. Fomos muito bem recebidos, quartos confortáveis e com ar-condicionado para aguentarmos o calor do verão. Pequeno-almoço delicioso e feito por uma senhora muito simpática. Uma ótima experiência.

I accidentally booked two rooms at Monsanto Forest Park, thinking it was in the village of Monsanto, but I did not realize there’s a completely different location in Portugal with the same name. Unfortunately, I only caught the mistake the morning of our planned arrival, and the rooms were non-refundable. Thankfully, I managed to make a last-minute reservation at Casa Pires Mateus in Monsanto village, and it turned out to be a happy surprise. The stay exceeded our expectations. Anna, the host, was incredibly warm and welcoming, and her English was flawless. She personally prepared breakfast, which was simple but appreciated. The rooms were comfortable, and the location was ideal for exploring the village in the evening and early morning hours. Overall, it was a great overnight stay in one of Portugal’s most charming villages.
