The view was magnificent! Juliana was very nice and helpful with every little detail. Breakfast was delicious. For a group, this is the best of both worlds between a house rental and a hotel - everyone can stay together comfortably and you get the services of a hotel. Wonderful!
Literally nothing.

Wow!!! What a location… River frontage, peaceful, beautiful gardens, lovely room with own lounge and eating area. Stunning views. Friendliest hostess you could imagine… Juliana, you were great!
Very private and nice location
Too many steps without hand rails, Insufficient lighting Insufficient services at property,

Private, quiet for the most part except for the train. Rooms and apartments are quaint and unique
It needs major upgrade. The property show lots of wear and tears. Outdoor furniture covers ripped, floorboards are dangerously loose and sticking up as well as the screws. It is becoming seriously dangerous. One of the guests was seriously hurt by stepping into a giant screw and ended up in the hospital
Location, tranquil
Access was a struggle due to road maintenance
What a find! Our stay at Casas de Pousadouro exceeded expectations. A stunning, serene, secluded slice of paradise. We stayed with our two teenage daughters and had been nervous they may find it too quiet. However they loved all the different chill out areas, the beautiful pool area, and the activities on the river. Our house was stylish, with incredible views of the river, and we were treated to daily housekeeping and a delicious breakfast delivered every day. Our stay was made truly special by the care and generosity of our host, Julianna and her team, their hospitality was exceptional. We can’t recommend a stay with them enough and look forward to returning.
Our family of six had a wonderful visit to Casas de Pousadouro. Julianna was fantastic , helping with every need we had and providing helpful suggestions on activities. It was our daughter‘s birthday and Julianna presented us with a delicious meal and a special cake. She helped with all our activities and reservations. The setting is magnificent, directly on the Douro River. The family enjoyed the kayaks and a paddle board. I can highly recommend Casas de Pousadouro.
Very nice area. Very nice and An accommodating manager who takes care of the guests' comfort.
The villa we booked was very old and not maintenance properly.
Breakfast was fantastic. Juliana and her team are wonderfully friendly and helpful. Idyllic location with stunning views. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Beautiful property overlooking the river. Excellent service. Outdoor space a definite plus.
It is a bit far to Regau and Pinhoa if interested in Duoro wine experience. However the drive is beautiful and the train is convenient.
Very clean, very special, welcoming, comfortable and highly recommended.
hostess Juliana leveled up the place and our stay with her warm and kind hospitality. the place is so tidy and clean and well kept that you feel like you are staying in 5 stars hotel. hospitality and cleanliness of these 2 ladies that run the place is in a high level quality and all the facilities and the place itself looks minor in front of their hospitality.
roads to get there
It has one of the most beautiful and astonishing views I have ever experienced throughout the country, its very peaceful and the staff is very friendly and has a keen eye towards caring for your every need so that you can have the best experience possible. I rate it 11/10.
Literally nothing that one could complain about or dislike.
Each cottage beautifully integrates the environment - the river and the hillside - and has an individual character. The level of service is next level. Besides serving a wonderful varied breakfast, they baked us bread for evening meals, booked boat tours without any markup, and generally pampered us to no end. Juliana the property manager is a find: warm, knowledgeable and gets things done!
Access at night is tricky - pay attention to the signs!
Nice and calm place..
Everything was excellent
The scenery and silence was perfect. A great little getaway if you enjoy nature and want to escape the noise of the city. The room was cosy and warm, and the staff we're so friendly and really helpful. Would return again during spring.
Everything was perfect.
The hostess was amazing, the location is beautiful and the activities in the river were a huge hit with the kids
Watchout for any families with toddlers - old houses and uneven stairs
Great B&B! Brakefest was amazing
The location, the staff, the grounds, the breakfast - everything was perfect. Truly a treat of a getaway in paradise.
A little bit of paradise by the Douro. Loads of immaculate space, great water sports provision. Breakfast service was unique and extensive. All of the staff were amazing. Perfect hospitality
Nothing
Location was amazing! A point to note, that if you are backpacking or just visiting Porto without a car, you can catch the train straight to the bottom of this property and Juliana can arrange a transfer, very good location. We were in need of total relocation and I’d explain this property as a villa with your very own Personal assistant, taxis sorted, food sorted, wine sorted, pizza delivered by local restaurant! Juliana really looked after us for our 6 night stay! SUP and kayak was great and the gardens with small places to have our own space was great, the property is so well looked after, cleaning is a top priority! So good! I could go on and on about how good this property is………
Tables were looking like they had reached the end of their life, could do with replacing.
This place is a rare find, with a small range of B&B cottages centred around the northern bank of the river Douro. A place to relax or engage in water based activities, soak up the sun at the poolside, enjoy the peace and tranquility and travel back into the "old" Portugal. Spotlessly clean, well furnished and extremely comfortable accommodation with an honesty bar, daily restocked basic supplies and a delicious continental breakfast delivered on time. Juliana and her team are here to ensure your stay exceeds your expectations, to guide you to local restaurants, activities and help with any issues that might arise. A car is a definite must and the local roads are an interesting challenge but the scenery they reveal as you climb into the hills is well worth the effort. a gloriuos location and many fond memories generated. We are already planning our return trio next year!! Thank you Juliana and i-escape.
Comfortable , relaxing , peaceful and beautiful spot right on the river. Swim and canoe and walk and chill. Our family loved our stay , the delicious breakfasts and the wonderful hostess , Juliana , who made the stay so special. It’s the ideal spot to unwind under the trees while listening to the birds. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully furnished.
Beautiful location, beautiful accommodation. Food was fantastic and Juliana was exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Nothing - everything was perfect
People are very friendly and super helpful
Location and the installation are really nice
After an intresting drive to reach the property we were warmly greeted by Juliana who went the extra mile to ensure that we had everything we might need during our stay. It's location is wonderful and provides for a very tranquil and peaceful break. Delicious oranges fall from the trees in the big garden. The property offers multiple areas of decking for relaxation. Our apartment was large, well furnished with a very comfortable bed. As we prefer self catering we found the kitchen in need of a bit of a refresh. On Juliana's advice we used the local Aregos station to travel on the very scenic railway line to visit Pinhau and Regua. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property for a wonderful vacation.
Everything was perfect. Juliana was amazing.!! Beautiful place and the yard was immaculate.
There was nothing not to like
The house is lovely with a great view of the river and train. We didn't expect it to be so beautiful and modern. Very clean with everything you need for cooking and barbecue. There are tangerines growing on the property that you can eat straight from the tree! There is a canoe and lots of places to relax. There is a small village nearby. Breakfast was lovely: juice from oranges from the garden and lots of different local food - cheese, meat, eggs and more.
Everything was wonderful, thank you for a wonderful vacation
We had the pleasure of staying in Casas de Pousadouro for two nights. The setting is lovely and the apartment was a good size, private and very comfortable, with a great view of the river. Unfortunately, the weather was pretty dreary - rainy, cool and foggy, so we didn't take advantage of the kayaks or relaxing by the pool. Julianna was terrific - kind and helpful. She gave us a number of suggestions for eating and activities, including taking a train trip down the river, hiking options, and a few near-by restaurants. We did them all, and our trip was much better because of this insider information. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was large and very good. We had some trouble finding the location, and the driving around there can be pretty hairy - small, twisting roads and VERY hilly. Not for the faint-of-heart drivers, but worth the anxiety.
Absolutely beautiful place, loads of different places to chill and relax. It was great to get out on the river on the kayaks and paddle boards. The owner and staff were lovely and even cooked a really delicious and beautiful dinner for us one night
Exceptional place comfortable, beautiful setting, tranquil, just lovely
Loved my stay at Casas de Pousadouro! I booked The Rocks, and was very happy with my selection. Three nights were perfect for a solo stay. I spent one day relaxing and the other working (mostly Zoom calls). I purchased groceries in Marco de Canaveses (although I saw the the mercado when I stopped in Baião, and it would have sufficed fine) and prepared my own dinners. PROS - Juliana, the manager / valet / front desk agent / concierge is a star! Prior to my stay, she replied to my emails quickly and thoroughly. During it, she helped with everything from providing walking advice to securing a wayward door to helping me back out of the driveway. - Location, location, location. The property is located on the banks of a bay of the Douro, and the views of the bay, the river, the village across from it, and the occasional train are stunning. - Close to train station. - Unique design. The Rocks is carved into the rocks: they form some of the walls, and there are actually ferns growing out of it. The floor in the living room is glass panels, and you can see down to the rocks below. People on my Zooms were asking if I was calling in from a cave. - Another wall consists entirely of floor-to-ceiling windows/doors that can be opened. There's plenty of fresh air and natural light. - Sebastian the cat. - Warm bread, cured ham, and fresh-squeezed orange juice are served every morning. Cheese and yogurt are pre-stocked in the refrigerator. They've pretty much thought of everything: there's also cookies, tea and coffee, crackers, jams, butter, milk (including lactose-free), sugar, butter, water, beer, sodas, bottles of Albarino, port, cookies... - Nespresso machine, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove - Blankets, books, exercise mat - Strong WiFi. - Kayaks, paddle boards - Multiple places to lounge outside: chaise longues, bean bag chairs, hammocks, tables and chairs under umbrellas, etc. - Strong, hot shower - My bungalow was clean, quiet, and dark at night CONS - None! But you need to be comfortable driving on hilly, curvy, narrow roads (quite possibly in fog.) It's both exhilirating and nerve-wracking.
Beautiful place with an incredible view! The apartments are great, very well decorated and cozy. There’s a nice pool just above the river, there’s kayaks and paddle boards if you want to go into the river as well. The staff is super friendly and attentive to meet all your needs. Definitely a place you can go either with friends, family, or as a couple. Very peaceful and quiet, amazing for a little getaway from the city! Loved it.
We loved the peaceful location and all the different areas to relax next to the river. Juliana was so welcoming and made our stay perfect, she had lots of tips on how to spend our time.
Nothing
I booked the Casa de Piloto (for 6 of us) for 2 nights and I wish I had stayed longer even though the weather was a bit rainy. The place has all the amenities one would want for a relaxing, yet modern holiday: swimming pool, bbq, kayak & paddle board, hammocks, TV, wi-fi and comfy beds. The breakfast - served every morning - is delicious and I never got tired of the view overlooking the Douro river. Thank you Juliana for making our stay a great experience and I will be back again
Beautiful, tranquil environment. Juliana went over and above to make us welcome.
The breakfast was lovely and just right and the location absolutely beautiful.
The only personal thing was that the beds were a little hard for our taste.
Super-friendly host. Our apartment was spectacular! A lot of watersports equipment (such as paddle boards, kajaks etc.) is provided complimentary. Our host was suportive in every inquiry we had. Very good breakfast is provided directly at your apartment. For a longer stay, some variation of the breakfast offers would be nice.
Amazing location, beautiful grounds, fantastic staff.
The bed was hard!
Casas de Pousadouro was a serene oasis hidden in the most stunning Douro Valley! The view from our "Rock House" was absolutely breathtaking and the team maintains the property beautifully. The pool, train bridge, and Douro river make for a perfect backdrop for photos. The lodging was clean, airconditioned, and comfortable. Activities ranged from paddle boarding, kayaking, boating, lounging, and day trip excursions to incredible wine vineyards for tasting. The best part about the property had to be its manager, Juliana. The sweetest person with a welcoming smile who was beyond helpful with arranging anything we asked. There is no restaurant at the hotel but Juliana provided fresh bread and breakfast items each morning and had the most amazing dinner delivered each night for easy relaxing. We could not recommend this place more for families, groups, or couples!!
Gorgeous, relaxing, picturesque property in the Douro Valley nestled in the valley on an offshoot from the Douro River.
The grounds and view of the property are absolutely amazing! There are many water activities possible on the little lake which connects to the Douro River. The staff is extremely nice and very accommodating.
It is difficult to get to - but with the help of the staff, it’s no problem at all!
Really nice place and a beautiful view to the river at a very special location. The staff is very nice and helpful. When driving to the location it's better to use road M581. The shortest path from N108 is really steep and narrow.
Casas de Pousadouro is the perfect place to get off the beaten track and unwind from daily responsibilities. It is a gem in Douro Valley and has scenic views from every window and spot in the garden. The staff is very welcoming and created a safe and positive atmosphere already on our arrival. They were very helpful with every problem that we had and were kind enough to give us plenty of recommendations for our stay. The property itself is spotless and is being cleaned every day and the rooms and houses are very stylish with modern equipment. We also got breakfast delivered to our house every morning. Overall we had a marvellous time in Casas de Pousadouro and we can't wait for our next visit there! Thank you!
When we decided to spend some days in Douro, we analyzed hotels that could offer a calm atmosphere but also some activities beside a swimming pool. Despite being a lit bit expensive we had no doubts in choosing Casas de Pousadoro because it had all: an apartment exclusively for you; has direct access to Douro river; offers you the possibility of kayaking or paddling in the River; allows you to explore Douro area with its attractions. Arriving there it’s not easy (narrow roads, ups and downs; you will definitely need a GPS), but that is a characteristic of all main spots in Douro. But once you’re there it’s worth the journey! The place is located next to a small arm of Douro River framed by an incredible landscape. It is characterized by 3 apartments and the Yellow house, all surrounded by beautiful gardens, the swimming pool, the decks and the small private port. Our apartment, Casa da Pedra, was very large with two rooms, two bathrooms and an open concept with living room and kitchenette. Breakfast was served in a private area in the garden just for us (every apartment has its own), with an amazing river view. Staff was really nice and efficient, and made has felt very welcomed. Casa de Pousadouro is a treasure in Douro area, and we look forward to coming back and have a wonderful time again!
This place is fabulous. I couldn’t find a better place. I was looking for a quiet hotel so I could rest by the river, but having the chance to go and visit different cities in the north. From the beginning until the very last minute, everything was superb. On arrival, the host showed me to my ‘house’ and introduce the basic, give you some indications what you could do in the area and in the surrounding areas. Diana was amazing. What have I loved about this place? The simplicity, there is no need more to impress the guests. You’re next to the river, a beautiful view at any point of the day. All the comunal areas are lovely, tidy. The house: SPOTLESS. I have stayed at Piloto house, which is the largest of the houses, you sit in the living room and you just admire the view, you can even listen to the birds. The room was great, with a massive window to the river side too. Clean everyday. The breakfast: TOP! They’ll serve you freshly squeezed orange juice, and these gorgeous bread just out of the oven, butter and this amazing cheese. There is not a thing that I have not enjoyed in this place. I don’t normally review my stays but I can tell all the hard work this place have. Because there is not such a personalised service like this one in any of the big 4* and 5* hotels, because there are so many people visiting this places that you’re just a number. At casas de Pousadouro they know you, they acknowledged you and you really feel like home. Thank you very much for this marvellous 5 days. Big shout out to Diana and Adelaide, you’re an asset to this business. Hopefully I will visit this place soon.
Casas de Pousadouro is a truly incredible place to stay! Everything about it is perfect: the location, the houses, the staff and the atmosphere in general. It’s surrounded by picturesque nature: beautiful views of the river Douro and hills. It’s a relaxing place: very calm, quiet and peaceful. The houses are super comfortable and well-equipped with everything you need. Breakfast is brought in the morning as you wake up - warm bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, yogurt… You can also order the lunch or dinner from a local restaurant. A lot of activities are offered such as swimming in the pool or in the river, kayaking or paddleboarding, a boat trip, visiting wineries and tasting local wine, hiking or biking. The staff is very friendly and helpful, always ready to help or give some advice. The owner is absolutely fantastic, he immediately makes you feel comfortable and at home, contributing to a even more pleasant stay. I strongly recommend recommend this place to everyone! I would definitely go back!
Amazing place to have relax. Very calm and unique. But here you can also visit nice cities around, taste wines at the caves, eat delicious food. Houses are so stylish with beautiful view. Loved staying here. Definitely recommend!
Stayed here for a weekend and loved everything about the place. Stayed in Rocks house and the views are amazing its the closest house to the swimming pool too. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Highly reccomend.
I had an excellent weekend on this little paradise by River Douro. This is such a relaxing place. The sights on the hills and on a train bridge are amazing. You can relax on the puffs by the river or kayak on it. Diving into the swimming pool is also a good choice. In conclusion: good and professional staff, delicious food and cozy, lovely housing are granted.
Beautiful, quiet, clean and very remote property in the Douro. Nice accommodations with gorgeous views of the river and hills from the Pilot house. We were a family of 7 adults and enjoyed some quiet days swimming in the river, reading on the deck, and using the 3 kayaks provided. A car is highly recommended since there is no transportation provided by the hotel, and it is too far to walk to any town, restaurant or train station. A delicious breakfast of warm bread, yogurt, cheese, and fresh orange juice was provided daily. A housekeeper was on the premises and the apartments were cleaned daily. We ordered dinner from the restaurant that delivered and it was very good. I had hopes from the website photos that the staff might set this all up for us, but it was self catering. We didn’t see the owner during our stay, and we mostly felt like we had the place to ourselves with the exception of one or two other couples. There were two problems with our stay. The first problem was that we had booked Pilot house and Ruin house months in advance and upon check in the housekeeper put two of us in the Outer Bedroom, which was small and damp. We asked to phone the owner, who said it was not available, and the following day another couple checked in to Ruin house. Another problem for us was that there was no access to boat tours or auto transport for seven people, other than dividing into two pricey taxis. I would recommend Casa de Pousaduoro for couples or families speaking Portuguese with a car and who would like an self catering vacation in a beautiful remote setting.
A secret litte paradise at the river Duoro. This is realy an Amazing place, very quite. Four houses built against the rocks. With a super nice host. Just an hour or two drive from Porto along the N222.
