Brilliant staff at every stage of my visit - and made up for some disappointments. Great location if you want to be in the middle of the old part of Rye up in the centre. Basic but comfortable room above a busy restaurant but all quiet by 10pm.

Disappointed not to be made aware until after booking that breakfast isn't available until 9.30am. But when I explained that I had to leave by 9am, lovely chef made me a takeaway granola. For the price, I was disappointed to have instant coffee sachets in the room not a proper coffee making machine. Little details like that would have lifted my score.

bed was too soft for us, the mattress moved every time some one turned over in bed, but that is just our personal preference for a harder mattress. and does not affect our score , jut a mention. we loved the food, all staff were so helpful and very pleasant, we will be back !!!

Such a lovely stay. Design was superb.

The room we stayed in was beautiful, clean and comfy. The staff were kind and accommodating. The breakfast was incredible with generous portions with a hot and cold drink and made the price such good value.

Centrally located, excellent breakfast. The room was lovely, well decorated with adequate extras. Only downside was that I could hear the room next door (at one point she was violently vomiting, so not a pleasant sound!). Ear plugs were provided, but even with them on, I could still hear as I am a super light sleeper.

Stayed two nights. Really good sized, comfortable room looking out onto the Main Street in this amazing town. Overnight car parking nearby. Breakfasts downstairs in the restaurant were absolutely delicious.

The seagulls woke us up early morning - but the hotel provided earplugs so we could use them and fall a sleep again.

The Fig is in the perfect location in the gorgeous high street of Rye, near the town gate. The decor was gorgeous and fittings/furnishing were of great quality. Having breakfast included was a real treat and felt like great value. The staff were helpful and attentive but not intrusive. It was warm being an old building in a heatwave but they provided a fan. The Tunnocks caramel wafers were a really nice touch.

It was hot so would recommend bringing an extra fan if hot weather is forecasted.

Stylish rooms, spotlessly clean, comfortable and excellent location for Rye

It’s perhaps a little expensive. We got told breakfast was at 9 meaning we rushed in the morning but it turned out it was until 11:30 so that was a little frustrating. We also got told to sit anywhere and then immediately got told to move tables.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Sehr gute Lage um das Städtchen zu erkunden. Pubs, Weinstube (sehr zu empfehlen) sowie Restaurants alle fußläufig erreichbar. Das hauseigene Restaurant haben wir nicht ausprobiert war aber immer gut besucht. Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet und ineressant zusammengestellt (nicht typisch englisch). Zimmer mit Gartenblick sehr ruhig.

L’emplacement, la décoration, le personnel et le petit déjeuner.

Il faisait chaud dans la chambre et nous n’avons pas très bien dormi avec seulement un ventilateur.. le bruit dans la rue, même avec les fenêtres fermées cela nous a réveillé. Concernant le dîner, les plats sont soignés mais peu de quantité par rapport au prix.

The Fig is in a central location in Rye. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with thoughtful additions, like chocolate biscuits, to be comfortable. The food in the popular restaurant below is also great, with a fabulous breakfast.

I’ve been to the Fig (restaurant) before but was my first time staying here overnight. Wonderful experience, the room had a beautiful garden view. Spacious and well-decorated. Staff were so lovely to us, shout out to them, they really make the stay come together. Food was amazing as always. I can’t wait to come back and try the other rooms.

Size of room and the bathroom was excellent as well as the comfort. Bed was a good size and very comfortable. Complimentary coffee and tea as well as a Tunnocks wafer biscuit is always very well received! Great restaurant on site - breakfast was fabulous- dinner looked lovely as well but we were with friends elsewhere. Location is perfect for the town. Thanks also for the earplugs - definitely needed for the seagull chorus at dawn!!

Breakfast started at 9am which was later than we would ideally like and then check out is 10am so we were rushed - need to adjust this to allow a bit more flexibility

The Fig is always a joy to stay in - even with the heatwave! The fan was very much welcome and the staff gave us plenty of ice to help stay cool. In addition to the two excellent breakfasts, we had lunch here one day - the food is not to be missed.

The property is in a great location right in the centre of town, and close to the station. The room was very stylish and well decorated and furnished. There were lots of lovely features, such as a sofa, wooden blinds and lots of pretty lamps. There were bathroom was a good size, with a great shower.

The property is on the high street, which meant there was lots of traffic. Although the food was excellent quality, there wasn’t a lot of it for breakfast. The room was quite expensive.

Only the fact that the room was so dark all painted in olive green even the ceiling. Also lighting from over the bed was a very dull yellow light which made it hard to find things in the room. Other than that it was very pleasant.

Very clean and well decorated room. Staff friendly and breakfast was good.

There is no on site parking and our bags were too heavy to carry to the property from the nearby car park. My husband drove, had to stop on double yellow lines, dropped the bags off, then went to park the car. All this had to be done in reverse when we left. The stairs in the property were steep. Our friends were on the second floor so had to carry bags up 2 flights of stairs. It didn't spoil our stay but something to consider if you are thinking of staying at the Fig.

Really smart trendy decor, comfortable and a chilled space to be in.

Check out is too early at 10am. I think this interferes with breakfast times and having to consider moving the luggage to the car then coming back for breakfast - it’s just a consideration I think could be better dealt with.

The staff, food, decor and location

Beautiful interior design, we stayed in 2 rooms and both were unique, tasteful and inspiring.

Facilities are limited e.g. no garden or terrace, lounge area etc but it's exactly as marketed.

Easy to find. Lovely team. Great breakfast. Book ahead for dinner as the restaurant is small. Room was adequate size with nice views from the window and a sofa. No need for the TV as there is so much to see in Rye.

It was really hot. There was a fan but it would be good if the windows opened all the way.

We had a really lovely stay at the Fig. The room (the deco room) was very spacious and the decoration was lovely. The breakfast was absolutely excellent - best waffles I’ve ever had. The staff were all very nice.

The shower would have benefited from a door as a lot of water ended up onto the floor. There was some noise from the front road during the early morning, such as when the bin truck went past so I wouldn’t book the deco room if you are a light sleeper.

The staff at the Fig were excellent, friendly and very accommodating. Excellent breakfasts with a good choice. The location was perfect, right on the High Street. No parking but public parking very close by.

The rooms are very tired, we had booked the Deco room which was unbelievably dark even though it was a sunny day, it was oppressive. I asked the staff if it was possible to have more lamps, which they kindly brought straight away. There is a huge window with shutters but you couldn't have them open as you looked across the road into a bedroom, which would work the other way too. I felt so uncomfortable in the gloom that I ask if it was possible to move. The lady I asked was so helpful and kind, unfortunately we couldn't move until the next day. We then moved to Boho which was much lighter, but again a tired room and bathroom. The tea and coffee facilities were not the standard you would expect in an establishment such as this. The kettle sat on a ratten console table which wobbled when the kettle boiled. There were bedside lamps which gave out no light at all just a glow, so you had to have the main light on just to read in bed. The rooms do not reflect the excellence of the restaurant or the staff.

The breakfast was absolutely phenomenal, the room was beautiful too and wonderful location. The staff accommodate our early check in beautifully too

The bathroom had some slight imperfections - damaged toilet flush and rusting tap but otherwise great!

Breakfast was the nicest I have ever had in my life, and location was brilliant being so central. All the food was freshly prepared and beautifully presented.

Just little bits and pieces in the bathroom - it was all a bit 'tired' - i.e. toilet roll holder and extraction fan not working properly. Sensor light switch in corridor also only working sporadically.

From the warm and friendly reception to the attentive service at the delicious breakfast, this was a great place for our stay in Rye. The location is superb - at the end of the High Street with a great view over the countryside from the E.F. Benson balcony nearby. The breakfast was great - outstanding mushroom Benedict, really good coffee and orange juice.

Not so keen on a toilet without a separate door in a glass-walled bathroom inside our otherwise lovely garden-view room, but this seems to be becoming more common... Having said that, the glass wall meant you had a fantastic view! So, swings and roundabouts.

We absolutely loved the fig. The decor in the bedrooms/hallway/dining area was stylish. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was amazing!

Property is clean, modern, well designed and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful! It’s a central location so easy access to the station and everything in Rye.

Nothing - it doesn’t have a traditional reception, you just have to ask a member of staff in the restaurant but they were all very friendly and helpful.

Attention to detail when it came to cleaning and some of the finish on decor was a little tired, could use a refresh. Not an issue for me but the open toilet in the bathroom could be an issue for some people.

Being able to listen to the conversations in the next room / toilet as the walls are not properly sound insulated.

The food is excellent and I love the seasonality of the dishes. The granola is especially delicious and the staff are so friendly. Plus they play a great selection of old skool reggae music. The bed was very comfortable and a nice touch to leave bottled water in the room. We’ve stayed at the Fig twice and highly recommend.

The lack of shelves or drawers in the area for hanging clothes - nowhere to put underwear or t-shirts.

The room was big and very clean with a lovely shower. The staff were incredibly helpful and professional and all had smiles on their faces. The breakfasts were top notch and filled you up to start your day right.

The staff were all really friendly and very accommodating about storing and accessing my bike in their rear yard. It is really well located on the main street, and the room I stayed in was neat and comfortable. The included breakfasts were delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

The property was excellently located above the Fig restaurant where the staff and food were superb. The rooms were very comfortable, include a 2 seater sofa and provide plenty of space to relax. The bathroom was large with an excellent shower.

Whilst the rooms were very comfortable and a few minor additions would have made a considerable difference. A Nespresso machine along with a small fridge with fresh milk would have made the rooms far more welcoming.

Excellent breakfast, real benefit of staying above a café/restaurant opposed to a hotel, delicious and generous portions. The Room we stayed in was lovely, clean and fairly well appointed and the location was perfect.

There were a few things that held me back from giving a high score. Firstly it was very hot and there is no air on or decent fan, just a very small table fan - because of this, i really didn’t sleep. Facilities could have been better, it would have been nice to have a fridge in the room. Breakfast isn’t served till 9, this isn’t helpful when you need to leave early. Received an email laying this out the day before and i did not like the tone of the email at all.

some noise between rooms and from the street- earplugs helpfully provided, we didn't mind. the mattress in the room was bowing somewhat in the middle

Nothing we didn't like, just a few of things to be mindful of: • Our room (Deco) faces the front, so you do hear some street noise because it’s a Grade II listed building, but there were earplugs provided in the room • For the same reasn, walls are a bit thin, though it didn’t bother us (as the rooms weren't all booked) • All four rooms are up flights of stairs, so not ideal for anyone with mobility or accessibility needs

There is a steep flight of stairs to get to the rooms which may not suit if you are less mobile.

Great location and amazing value for money! Stay is in one of the restaurants 4 rooms upstairs. We stayed in Deco and had plenty of space, clean room, and our stay included a huge and delicious breakfast. The staff were very friendly as well.
