Excellent hotel in north Kolkatta, lovely atmosphere, quiet rooms, delicious breakfast.

This was an exceptional hotel with a wonderful array of history and culture interwoven into each room and space. The scent alone on arrival was incredibly mesmerising and little sacred spaces filled with fresh marigolds and jasmine reflected care on a daily level. Not old and musty like some 'Heritage' places - this hotel was fresh, clean and the staff were just lovely. All in all, this hotel made my stay in Kolkata really special. Thankyou :)

Such a beautiful hotel, full of old world charm. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff were fantastic. Welcoming and always helpful. Food was really nice.

Water was an issue on on the day we left. A lot of noise from other guests one evening.

Nice rooftop breakkie, warm & helpful staff, tastefully designed room! Quiet premises despite being a ground floor room which led to quality sleep.

The food. It was mentioned that you have amazing Bengali food but the paneer on the menu was off putting.

Its historic nature and the care that had gone on to furnishing it with interesting and relevant artefacts.

Small bathrooms with no storage space

That's the place to be when in Kolkata. Unique atmosphere, small, very personal, friendly, every single person working there made us feel welcome and looked after us, comfortable rooms and beds, fantastic food. We feel it is a home away from home and for us it's the best location. Metro is near, nice to just walk around the area.

La beauté des lieux. Le plus bel hotel de tout le voyage

The hotel is beautiful, with stylish design throughout incorporating heritage features. It has a real boutique feel to it.

They accidentally overcharged me on arrival and it took two months of chasing to get a refund.

The bungalow is not only a lovely place to stay, it's a great experience. Staff are SO helpful! We only regret we didn't have time to take one of the fascinating walking tours.

My only suggestion would be to avoid the front bedroom if street noise bothers you

A beautifully restored property oozing charm and attentive service with rooms decorated thematically. We stay in the Sahib room which had a copper bathtub which was a real luxury after the dusty streets of India. The included breakfast was massive and we ended up sharing 2 between 4 people. A wonderful retreat in the chaos that is Calcutta.

The hotel is out of the centre of Old Calcutta where most of the tourist attraction are. Its a short walk to the nearest metro station (10min) which is cheap, modern, and efficient, though expect crowding in like sardines. Otherwise its a short (distance) but long (timewise) trip in the indescribable mess which is Calcutta traffic. Downloading local ride-share apps such as Grab/Rapido make things easier/cheaper and cuts out the bargaining with taxi drivers over prices. Once the ride is book you simply pay cash on arrival at your destination.

The decor in the hotel is quite amazing. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was amazing. We enjoyed our stay in that environment.

The water temperature of the shower was not very high.

Very beautiful hotel with excellent food on the roof terrace and super friendly staff.

Beautifully renovated property; very comfortable bed; everything was really clean and well maintained; the food was delicious; the staff were very helpful and friendly. It’s a shame that more of the colonial buildings in Calcutta can’t be saved in this way!

Le grand charme de l’établissement. Les patios intérieurs et leur végétation. La baignoire en cuivre. La qualité des matériaux et tissus décorant les chambres mettant en valeur le patrimoine. Le personnel qui s’exprime très bien anglais et qui est fier de présenter les particularités historiques de l’établissement. Les bons conseils pour trouver un tailleur Raymond qui réalise des Neru Jackets sur mesure. Les dîners en terrasse. Repas délicieux surtout la formule végétale ou non végé avec dégustation de plusieurs plats. Permet de tout déguster.

La beauté de cette maison bengali rénovée avec soin. Son emplacement dans le vieux quartier bengali que nous avons découvert tout autour de l’hôtel. Le roof top pour le petit déjeuner. Le personnel très aimable.

The facilities are funky lovely. I was in Kolkata for Durga Puja and the location was reasonably good for getting around on foot - important due to the traffic. The food was excellent, which was great since there aren’t many options nearby. They allowed me to order a half thali, which was still a huge amount of food and delicious.

A bit of a walk to the metro and the restaurant was booked with no guests for the holiday, so I had to eat in my room.

The wedding taking place in a neighbouring house was a noisy and kept us awake till late.

Calcutta Bungalow was absolutely wonderful. The staff is kind and very helpful. I had two rooms during my stay and LOVED both. Wonderful design touches. The location is not for everyone but I loved being in an actual non tourist neighborhood. I would return.

The one thing that needs work is the food and restaurant. It is not up to par with the rest of the hotel. Since the hotel is far from alternate places to eat , they need to work on the menu and or chef.

Very stylish and artsy decor, beautiful architecture. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The food is amazing!

We arrived at around 3pm. And even though the check in time is 2pm, we had to sit and wait for almost an hour before we could get into our room, because they were still cleaning it. The hotel is in an old building. Our hotel room floor was not clean, so our feet became brown every time we walk around barefoot in the room. There was a strong cleaning chemical smell in the room. The room is a bit stuffy so we had a to open all windows and doors for 15 minutes to air it out every time we come back to the room.

Absolutely stunning place, I hope we get to stay again. Id happily live there. They faciiltated 3am check in. Let us have lare check out. Served breakfast on the terrace way after breakfast hour finished and one of their staff went and bought me an Indian mobile Sim so i didnt have to queue to get a foreigner Sim. In a great location with plenty of cafes and shops and stalls on your doorstep.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Sofortiger Zimmerbezug schon bei Ankunft um 11 Uhr. Sehr schöne Dachterrasse mit Restaurant. Sehr gutes Essen im indischen Style. Auch von Einheimischen sehr geschätzt, die nicht im Hotel wohnen.

Freundliches, aber unzuverlässiges Personal im Restaurant und je nach Besetzung auch an der Rezeption. Offizieller Frühstücksbeginn ist um 07.00, Personal schlurft aber jeden Tag immer erst um 07.15 h an. Zeitweise ist auch die Rezeption nicht besetzt für Uber-Bestellung zum Beispiel. Sehr dunkel im Zimmer, weil die Läden immer geschlossen sind (wohl wegen der wenig erfreulichen Aussicht auf die Umgebung). Zu wenig Tische auf der Terrasse, obschon Platz vorhanden wäre.

Breakfast was excellent. The meals in the rooftop restaurant were exceptional. Staff were excellent, they were always willing to help, nothing was too much trouble. Furnishings and finishing touches are very tastefully done.

The property is wonderfully designed in old Calcutta vernacular. Very detailed with pleasant surprises in every corner.

I would say the fans on the top level were stuck on high speed and noisy. It was difficult to enjoy the wonderful with sound and the bright lights.

Lovingly restored and tastefully furnished old house in a traditional neighbourhood in Kolkata. They also have an excellent restaurant with great Bengali cuisine. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

The team here are fantastic. We were welcomed with fresh lime soda and shown to our beautiful room. Keya and the team on reception immediately made us feel at home and looked after. The interior design is stunning l, the rooms clean, the bed comfy and the food and drink delicious and plentiful. Breakfast just kept coming. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kolkata. As a tip - Uber is cheap and you can pay cash. We found this easier than trying to explain the hotel location to taxi drivers.

Die Unterkunft im Calcutta Bungalow war einfach unglaublich. Vom Moment der Ankunft haben wir uns einfach nur wohl gefühlt. Alles ist wunderschön kuratiert & sauber, das Essen ist wunderbar (das wurde uns sogar von unseren bengalischen Freunden bestätigt!). Danke für eine tolle Zeit!

This is a wonderful heritage hotel in a fascinating part of Kolkata. The design of the rooms and the public spaces was so beautiful and the whole ambience was lovely. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. There's a roof top restaurant where we had great dinners and breakfast is served in a characterful room downstairs. There was too much to eat! We were also given a great packed breakfast on our last morning as we had to leave very early for the airport. The transfers from and to the airport all went seamlessly. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the metro station. Shyambazaar is a really interesting part of North Kolkata, there's a local bazaar, cafes and temples to see as well as the colonial architecture of the grand houses of the area, and you can also walk to the Hoogly to see the river or catch the ferry. We loved the area and the hotel and would definitely not want to stay anywhere else.

Loved our stay at Calcutta Bungalow! It is a wonderfully curated experience, to every minute detail; and feels very personalised. Keya at the front desk is very warm and hospitable and so are the other staff. Truly a gem in the heart of North Calcutta!

I like the egg roll roti with the mixed fruits.Lassi is nice too. The bed and all facilities are comfy , I feel like staying at home when returning from my outside trip.

Black Coffee should be improved as I am not sure if you use the fresh coffee beans or not. As I am the one who d prefer to drink hot black coffee in the morning. Please try the fresh coffee beans to prepare. Frech Press with the grinded beans from India would make it more perfect for breakfast set.

The property is beautiful. It is close to the airport, 9 kms or so. The staff is extremely hospitable and welcoming. Their inhouse restaurant offers delicious bengali cuisine. Not a single miss. The rooms are exactly as per the photos shared and super comfortable with cozy vibes.

Wow, what a wonderful boutique hotel this is. So cosy and comfortable that we hardly left it during our short stay (2 nights only). The room was super comfortable and with amenities like hair-dryer, safe, tea and coffee making facilities etc. The rooftop was perfect for breakfast and late afternoon/evening. Sadly two ladies on reception very disengaged, lacking warm welcome, seemed distracted and uninterested . Even on departure, knowing our vehicle had arrived, she left the desk without even a good bye as we departed. Such a shame that their attitude did not match rest of staff who could not be more attentive. They are the first and last face of the hotel ….

This charming boutique property provides great service and has a fantastic staff. The place has true character and charm. To boot they serve delicious food too! It’s my definite go to in Calcutta going forward.
