Such a beautiful place to stay, the house and gardens are like a little oasis! Helen was such a nice host and our breakfast in the morning was divine. We hope to return again :)
Breakfast was wonderful, especially the local bread, the host Ellen and owner was so nice I felt very much at home, local restaurant was excellent, I plan on staying there again soon,
All good
What a special, historic property in a bucolic, country setting. This is a very unique and wonderful place.
Beautiful property, Helen was the most wonderful host and was very accommodating. Would really recommend this stay for a gorgeous getaway in the heart of Ireland
Perfect great grub
Nothing in general
Friendliness, fabulous breakfast, beautiful grounds, the way the property had been restored
Beautiful location, fantastic room
The house is in the stunning Irish countryside, making it a truly peaceful and beautiful place to stay. The bedrooms are spacious, cozy, and very comfortable. The hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The cherry on top, however, is the amazing breakfast prepared by the hostess. It was honestly the best breakfast I have ever had at a B&B or hotel. Everything was delicious and clearly prepared with great care and attention to detail. Overall, a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a charming and relaxing stay in the Irish countryside.

Nice room
Thanks
The house and gardens were beautiful. Helen the host and her staff were welcoming and so friendly. A fantastic location and house.
To be aware there were some shared bathrooms before booking.
The whole experience exceeded our expectations. This B&B is fabulous. Helen and Liz gave us a warm welcome. The house is beautiful and our room was very comfortable and spotless. The riverside gardens and walk were lovely and it was fascinating to see the old mill buildings and how the mill races were built. Breakfast was superb and generous. This is a wonderful B&B and very good value.
We had a lovely stay, Helen was very accommodating of late check in and breakfast changes.
Nothing.
Beautiful home on a beautiful and peaceful property.

Very comfortable and interesting
Shower could have more pressure
Everything was absolutely gorgeous, the grounds and house were stunning, like something out of a fairytale. The hosts could not of been nicer people.
Great local knowledge on events & points of interest in the area
Room- grounds breakfadt host. Beautiful place.
Helen went out of her way to help with the special circumstances I had. She could also recommend activities and points of interest in the area. She put a lot of effort into the breakfast and making sure we were comfortable.
A microwave in the dining room would be helpful if you needed to heat up some food you got from town.
beautiful place , full of character, amazing gardens and friendly host

Helen, our host, was very welcoming from the outset, offering us a cup of tea on arrival. She obviously has a great deal of passion for Lacken and this shows through her enthusiasm and attention to detail. There was a high standard of cleanliness and the rooms were airy and comfortable, generous size and lovely views of the garden. The house has its own gardens which guests can use freely. We enjoyed sitting in the forest by the river and even spotted a Kingfisher! It was lovely to explore the grounds and the old buildings nearby. Helen really has the perfect combination - she has been able to open her home and create the feeling that you are visiting a friend but she is also professional and efficient and is careful to give you privacy.
Beautiful old house and gardens very well kept in the lovely countryside
Not a lot
We so enjoyed our stay. We loved walking through the beautiful gardens and Breakfast was delicious too. Helen was a wonderful host.
So peaceful and quiet. Helen is a wonderful host! She kept in touch with me before I arrived and made sure I enjoyed a delicious Gluten Free breakfast… even GF boxty! My bed was extremely comfortable. Lovely surroundings, really pretty cups & saucers, and antique furniture.
Traumhafte Lage, Zimmer sehr schön, Betten bequem.
Pogovor z njo in njena nevsiljiva prijaznost in odlično poznavanje okolice hiše so dodana vrednost bivanja v Lacken Millhouse podeželjske hiše.
Friendly, good bed, excellent breakfast
Exception location with exceptional host. Thanks to Helen for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The gardens were beautiful, my 1 year old daughter enjoyed a lot! Hopefully we will be back soon.
The whoĺe place was something out of a fairytale. Beautiful peaceful surroundings with an authentic home and outdoor buuldings. Hosts friendly and kind.

Absolutely lovely large & well appointed room in beautifully restored property set within delightful gardens. Welcome was very warm with tea & biscuits offered in the drawing room. Breakfast was very generous and served in the lovely dining room overlooking the gardens.
Only negative (which could also be viewed as positive) was its distance from town
Helen was most welcoming. We arrived earlier than planned and she was happy to check us in. The house is beautiful, the gardens are lovely and the property is peaceful and well kept. We walked along the river behind the house, it was a well maintained path , very pretty. The swans are a bonus! The room was lovely and well appointed. The bed was comfy. The amenities a lovely added touch. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented.
nothing! It was lovely
Prachtig pand wat zorgvuldig is onderhouden. Heerlijke bedden en een klassiek interieur. Verder een schitterende tuin
The property was surrounded by amazing gardens, walks and nature. It was picturesque views and the staff were so accommodating and friendly
There was nothing not to like at the property
Incredible room and garden. Room was spotless and very comfortable. Friendly and polite staff. Highly recommend. Everything was perfect.
Nothing, was perfect.
Everything about the B&B was amazing especially Helen and Theresa who could not have been more welcoming and accommodating.

Vielen Dank!

Very clean, comfortable, airy room. Quiet & peaceful, lovely gardens
The house and grounds were sensational, the owner Helen was a super host and can't fault anything about my short stay. Can't wait to go back.
Above all expectations! Wish we could have stayed longer.
So comfortable and friendly

I wish I could give 10 more stars. The house, the room, the gardens, Helen herself, the stove - everything was truly wonderful.
Great little place to stay, beautiful house and gardens. Room was very comfortable for my son and I, and we both really enjoyed the breakfast. Super warm welcome and great coffee, 100% would stay again.
Helen was a helpful and gracious host! The accommodations were outstanding! Breakfast beyond belief!
Lovely house and surroundings full of character. Made very welcome by Helen who made us a cup of tea at the cosy fire. Spacious comfortable room. Great breakfast from the perfect hostess!
Nothing
Helen and her family were so kind and welcoming! The surrounding grounds offer picturesque scenes straight out of the 1800s… an old mill, more stone building in need of repair, a river and walking path. Our room was lovely, clean, and well-stocked. Tea-time was a treat and the full Irish breakfast left us in awe. Just a fabulous stay, only sorry we had plans to leave the area after one night. Would have easily booked a longer stay.
The house and grounds are exceptional. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable clean and warm. The breakfast far exceeded all expectations! Delicious! And the host could not have been any more welcoming and friendly. We loved it all!
Thought shower would have benefitted from a shelf or shampoo/ shower gell holder. And possibly a second chair in bedroom.
Everything was excellent
10/10, we loved the nicely maintained property, and the peaceful surroundings. Helen of course was a great host too.
Possibly the old school separate cold and hot taps
This must surely be the best B and B in Ireland. The owner (Helen) could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was great, my room was perfect for my needs and I wish I could have stayed longer.
Nothing.
The hostess went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was fabulous. It was such a privilege to stay in such a beautiful old home in the countryside.
The pillow was a bit stiff/not fluffy enough for my personal liking. The room was very hot.
A very nice rural spot, which is about four kilometres from the nearest village. The Eircode brings one seamlessly to the door, so there are no issues finding it - even on a dark October night
The innkeeper was so warm and welcoming. Tea by the fire and a walk through the gardens by the river were memorable. The bed was so comfortable and the breakfast was filling and yummy.
Really terrific staff, all very welcoming without being overbearing. We arrived a little late, and they were still very accommodating and offered us tea or coffee. The house and grounds were beautiful and the breakfast generous and delicious. Many thank all the way around.
It would be nice to have a chair in the room, which assists people with mobility issues to put on socks and shoes, and also to set something down.
It was a really beautiful guest house, the lady of the house was so lovely
Lacken Millhouse is an excellent place to stay. The house is a period property that has been tastefully 'modernised yet it still retains its old world charm. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with all amenities. There are excellent views and there is the feeling of a country 'retreat'. Meals are wholesome and nutritious and these are served on exquisite plates. The tea is served in 'proper' tea pots and you have time to relax and enjoy your breakfast. There is a feeling that you are staying in a small hotel and not a guesthouse yet the house is still informal also. The changing seasons are also 'observed'. Presently Lacken millhouse has many 'characters' sitting on the shelves or standing in the corner. Some have red suits but you need to be very observant to see the two small people as they shovel away the snow! These 'little characters' are everywhere and this shows the 'attention to detail' that is everywhere in Lacken millhouse and gardens. You need to visit before all these characters 'disappear'. You won't be disappointed.
There is absolutely nothing to dislike at Lacken millhouse and gardens. The gardens are also an amazing feature with running water and a shaded area of trees surrounded by streams and a fast flowing river. There is also period stone buildings and industrial architecture associated with a mill, hence you are staying in a 'beautifully restored' millhouse.
The breakfast is excellent and the accommodation is both comfortable and you have a quiet room with scenic views. Parking is available around the house and there is a beautiful woodland and flowing rivers behind the property. Fishing is possible but the natural scenery will rejuvenate and uplift your spirits.
There was absolutely nothing to dislike as this is luxury accommodation in tastefully appointed rooms. Shower and bathroom facilities are also excellent with attention to detail everywhere. There is also a wood burning stove set in a traditional wooden beamed fireplace that gives excellent warmth and period charm.
We stayed here for the evening and honestly had such a lovely time. The place was incredibly quiet and peaceful, exactly what we needed to decompress at the end of the day. Helen was wonderfully flexible and accommodating, which made everything feel easy and relaxed from start to finish. We'll stay again. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a calm, comfortable spot to unwind.
Decoration and garden
The breakfast is excellent. The location is ideal if you require a 'quiet' location. You will need to drive to this location but if you have the correct postcode, you will be able to find this location. There is a sharp right hand turn at the bottom of the village which you need to watch out for. Take your time on this narrow road and you will be ok. The location is literally on the waters edge and you can fish if you want to also.
This venue is ideal. I cannot think of anything that I didn't like.
The most beautiful house and garden with such a welcoming host. Helen was the loveliest lady who made myself and my daughter feel right at home. Thank you for such a lovely stay 🙂
The home and grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was the best we had in all of Ireland. The hostess was delightful. I highly recommend!
There was nothing we didn't like.
Breakfast and host were superb, can't thank Helen enough.
The hangover
Helen was great. Breakfast was superb. Location was perfect. Distance to local restaurant was very good. Parking was easy. Grounds were immaculate. Very quiet. River was beautiful.

The house and the location of it were amazing. So was the service. Helen is a great host.

We received such a warm welcome and had reassuring and excellent communication with Helen as we were travelling through the evening and were going to be arriving much later than expected. We would come back for a longer stay another time. Lovely, well equipped room. Beautiful garden and setting
