Reviewed Aug 28, 2026The room, bed and ensuite. Lorna on the phone was pleasant and helpful, and Tanya who let me in eventually was pleasant and efficient. Very good location and safe parking nearby.
Absence of any breafast facility - a bowl of cereal and toast with jam would have been very welcome. Absence of a working wifi connection.

Reviewed Aug 27, 2026LOCATION WAS GOOD WE WERE RUNNING LATE SO NOBODY AT HOUSE SO WAS TALKED THROUGH SELF CHECK IN BY OWNER ON THE PHONE SHE SOUNDED VERY NICE ON PHONE . WE WERE ONLY STAYING ONE NIGHT SO IT WAS OK.
PLACE IS VERY DATED AND LOOKS IT FROM OUTSIDE LOOKED UNKEPT FROM OUTSIDE .

This property won't be in operation after this month, being torn down for parking lot (cue Joni Mitchell) ...so at some point there will still be free parking available here

Reviewed May 22, 2026Beautiful old building with lots of architectural features. Easy checkin. Lorna was a great host, very pleasant and great to talk to about the local area. Highly recommend a visit to McCarthys Pub & food at Murphy’s restaurant which is a lovely the family run business.

I've stayed in the Old Medical hall three times in the past, the last time being just before COVID and all my previous experiences had been excellent but now six years later the place seems to have lost its charm. Standards seemed to have slipped which left me saddened. The mattress on the bed had seen better days leading to a rough night's sleep. There was a black mold on the grout in the shower for which there is no real excuse.

The room waa freezing cold, couldn't turn on heating. Cold draught coming in windows. Shower water was scalding hot and couldn't adjust the temperature.

The owner made us feel uncomfortable. She seemed annoyed with us and told me my autistic son was rude in front of him. She also did not take responsibility for her hotel when we said that the rooms were noisy.

Reviewed Sep 16, 2025The room was nice, well laid out with a nice amount of hanging/storage space, lovely modern bathroom with walk in shower, off street parking available opposite on a small (approx 20-25 spaces) car park and also a gravelled hard standing at the rear of the property although not ideal for motorcycles (as I was traveling on). Quite a pleasant little town only yards from the sea so plenty of places to get a nice walk in the fresh air.
The entrance to the building is shared with a tea room/cafe and doesn’t inspire much as its a bit tired looking, the building is clearly a very old building and has been partially brought up to date although I couldn’t comment on other rooms, if they were to the same standard then that's a bonus, there were no staff to receive me, just a text with instructions to access the building. I was the only visitor so the rest of the building was in darkness which may put some people off. Possibly due to the time of year but I walked out to find some food and found very little open, just a Chinese restaurant and a lobster restaurant.
