Increíble lugar. La habitación es muy moderna, súper espaciosa y cuenta con todo tipo de comodidades y recursos para hacer la estancia perfecta. Está muy cerca del centro, a tan solo 5 minutos andando. Todo el personal es encantador, y queremos destacar especialmente a Indi, que estuvo pendiente en todo momento de que no nos faltara de nada y de que todo estuviera perfecto. ¡Una estancia de 10! Sin duda, repetiríamos.

The room and terrace are beautiful, in such a peaceful location just 5 mins walk from the centre. The photos don’t do it justice, it’s so much nicer in real life! The host family are fantastic, they couldn’t do enough for us. Every morning we had the most delicious breakfast. We spent a lot of time relaxing here, highly recommend to anyone staying in Ella and looking for a lovely experience!

Loved our stay here! Indi has thought of everything, so impressed with the setup of the room, bathroom and outdoor area. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in Sri Lanka with a variety of food in abundance. Love the jacuzzi overlooking monkeys in the trees outside. Great location, walking distance to 9 arch bridge and restaurants. Indi arranged a guide to collect us for a sunrise hike up Ella Rock and a tuk tuk to go to dinner. Thank you so much Indi and family, we loved our stay.

Not a bad thing, just a note to be cautious in the bathroom as I had a painful fall from the Jacuzzi stairs into the shower.

We stayed here for 4 days and it completely exceeded all our expectations – it truly felt like a little paradise. The room was absolutely amazing, beautifully designed and so comfortable. We felt at home from the very first moment. Everything was peaceful and quiet, which made it even more special. The jacuzzi was a real highlight – perfect to relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings. What made this place truly unforgettable is the incredibly warm and kind family. Their hospitality is something very special, and you can feel it in every detail. From the terrace and even from the jacuzzi, you can watch so many animals in the trees just in front – monkeys, squirrels and much more. It’s such a unique experience and something you really have to see for yourself.

Everything was wonderful. The room and facilities, location, breakfast were all excellent and the family are lovely. It's very peaceful, despite being centrally located. Very easy to walk to Ellla town and back. We would love to come back asap.

Die Unterkunft ist liebevoll und modern gestaltet. Alles war sehr sauber und ordentlich. Der dazugehörige, große Balkon-/ Terassenbereich ist komplett überdacht und somit auch bei Regen ohne Einschränkungen nutzbar. Das Frühstück war lecker und reichhaltig und wurde draußen auf der Terasse serviert. Indika (der Host) bietet mit seinem TukTuk auch Touren zu Sehenswürdigkeiten an und organisiert zudem bei Bedarf weitere Transfers (Taxi etc.). Insgesamt hatten wir eine sehr schöne Zeit in Ella.

Klasse Frühstück und ein Host, dem wir absolutes Vertrauen schenken konnten. Er hat uns regelmäßig (auch später in unserer Rundreise) extrem kurzfristig einen günstigen Transport vermitteln können! Super!

Das Zimmer war super, leider war es aber auch etwas klamm. Das könnte allerdings auch an der ständigen hohen Luftfeuschtigeit liegen. Evtl kann hier die Klimaanlage besser entfeuchten?

Tucked away just off the main road, this ‘room is far more than a room…it has a wonderful veranda and a jacuzzi in the bedroom. Beautifully clean and spacious.

We didn’t have long enough to enjoy the facilities as we were only there for one brief night.

Das Frühstück war super lecker und reichhaltig. Die Lage des Homestays ist auch super. Zu Fuss ist man in 5 Minuten in Mitten von Ella und in der Nähe aller Restaurants, etc. Auch der Little Adam‘s Peak und die Nine Arches Bridge sind gut zu Fuss erreichbar von der Unterkunft aus. Ich würde sofort wieder dort übernachten. Auch die Ausstattung des Zimmers war super. Alles was man braucht, war vorhanden.

Im Zimmer war es leider sehr feucht, so dass auch die Bettwäsche und alle unsere Sachen mit der Zeit leicht feucht waren. Das lag wohl daran, dass es ziemlich regnerisch war, aber auch an dem Whirlpool und der schlechten Belüftung im Zimmer.

Väldigt fint boende, stort rum och fin uteplats. Vänlig personal som hjälpte oss att arrangera resor och utflykter. Super god frukost! Allt får 10 av 10!

Todo! Las fotos son REALES! Nos trataron mejor que en un hotel. Comida fantástica y a muy bien de precio. Muy detallistas! Todo muy limpio y ordenado. Repelente de mosquitos instalado, botiquín de primeros auxilios, contacto constante para confirmar horario de llegada, necesidades de transporte, etc. Volveremos!

Ein in Sri Lanka sehr selten zu findendes Homestay. Super sauber, der Besitzer mega freundlich, eine tolle Location und das Zentrums nah sowie ein leckeres, breit gefächertes Frühstück. Meine Gäste waren vollkommen happy und begeistert. Und ich mit. Auf jeden Fall werde ich dort Gäste von mir erneut einbuchen. Leider gibt es momentan nur 1 Zimmer, so daß es stets schnell ausgebucht ist. Aber wer Glück hat, wird sich rundherum wohl fühlen. Im Namen meiner Gäste - Danke für den tollen Aufenthalt. Es gibt keinerlei Beanstandungen

Stanza stupenda sopra le aspettative, piena di dettagli estetici e comodità inaspettate. La camera è molto spaziosa, il bagno anche, c’è una bellissima jacuzzi e una terrazza curatissima con un dondolo. Plus principale: la stanza è pulitissima, senza dubbio la camera più pulita della nostra vacanza in Sri Lanka. I proprietari sono gentilissimi e pronti per qualsiasi richiesta (come la colazione take away alle 5 del mattino). Disponibile (e graditissimo) anche una bottiglia di vino(un discreto merlot spagnolo nel nostro caso) a un prezzo più che onesto.

L’entrata fa dubitare di essere nel posto giusto, in una zona brutta e poco curata, ma non è certo colpa della struttura. Un’unica piccola pecca, volevamo utilizzare la jacuzzi ma per scaldarla (bisogna chiedere di accenderla)ci voleva troppo tempo e dopo un’ora abbiamo rinunciato

ESPECTACULAR!!!. Indika gestiona esta habitación (que creo que en breve ya será mas de una) a 5 minutos andando al centro del pueblo de Ella. La habitación es espectacular: amplia, cama comodísima, aire acondicionado,.....Tiene todos los detalles que puedas imaginar aparte de estar decorada con muy buen gusto. Si esto fuera poco tiene una terraza privada con vistas a la naturaleza en la que no falta detalle: banco columpio con vistas a la jungla, mesita para desayunar, .....una pasada. Pero la joya de la habitación está en el baño, precioso, y es un jacuzzi privado con cristaleras para poder relajarte viendo la naturaleza. Los desayunos son buenísimos y abundantes. Nunca me puede terminar uno entero 😆. La relación calidad-precio es brutal. A todo eso hay que añadir que Indika es un perfecto anfitrión, no solo para la habitación, sino para aconsejarte en todo lo que necesites y llevarte el mismo. Indika me contactó antes de llegar a Sri Lanka y gracias a él logré tener un conductor privado para ir de Colombo a Sigiriya a la mitad de precio que queria cobrarme el hotel de Colombo. A partir de ahí fui gestionando con el muchas cosas del viaje antes de llegar y después de salir de Ella. Imposible estar en mejor sitio ni mejor tratado. Gracias Indika&family. Os recordaremos siempre que hablemos de este viaje. 😍

Estuvimos muy cómodos en este alojamiento. Unas instalaciones muy buenas, con buenas vistas y buena ubicación, a 10 min andando de la ciudad. La habitación tenía todo tipo de detalle y estaba muy limpia. La atención recibida fue inmejorable. El desayuno estuvo increíble, pudimos probar mil cosas nuevas.

Attenzione che i proprietari mettono per la cura del cliente, ogni dettaglio è importante: nell’ camera c’è tutto anche gli ombrelli. La colazione è servita in un terrazzo privato molto carino con vista sul verde e uno stupa bianco. Cibo delizioso preparato con cura e amore. Camera nuova super curata in una posizione a 5 min dal centro di Ellla. Siamo stati davvero bene. Un saluto a Indika e Tavi :-)

De los alojamientos más especiales de nuestro viaje. No le falta detalle a la habitación, bueno... más que una habitación es como una casita con tu jardín, donde desayunas cada día, y a destacar un jacuzzi que es un lujo después de un día ajetreado por Ella. La familia es un encanto, dispuesta a ayudarte en lo que necesites en todo momento. Muy recomendable.

Good location tucked away from the main town but still within walking distance. Lovely room and well looked after with beautiful breakfast and arranging tours.

This was the perfect home stay, close to the centre of Ella. We were feeling a little under the weather and the owners really looked after us, the peace and calm of the home stay was just what we needed. The warm jacuzzi was an added bonus! Breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. The family were super helpful and friendly. They helped arrange our travel to and from the accommodation and suggested lots of things we could do in Ella.

It is a very nice room and it is extra special because of the jacuzzi. The space is amazing and the host is very friendly. Extra plus they speak English well.

Everything was perfect!

Where do I start. This place is absolutely AMAZING.The attention to detail in everything from room presentation to meals to staff and owners is impeccable. I cannot speak highly enough of everything and everyone. Please don’t be put off by the 17m2 room advertising as the size is double that with butiful outdoor setting and an added private jacuzzi. We fell in love with this place and didn’t want to leave.!!!

There is nothing that could have been better.

Homestay in a great neighbourhood, and via a shortcut only a 5 minute walk from the city center. We loved the room: spacious; clean; beautiful materials; great (and beautiful) bathroom with a hot shower and a big private terrace to chill. Breakfast was delicious, and being brought to the terrace. At first we were a bit cautious - because accomodation reviews in Sri Lanka tend to be extremely positive - but this accomodation was even better than expected so we extended our stay!

The room was spotlessly clean, and the private jacuzzi was absolutely fantastic. The hotel is located in the heart of town, with plenty of lovely cafés within walking distance. We really enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace — it was delicious. The owner and their family were so kind and welcoming. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. If we ever come back to Ella, we’ll definitely stay here again without hesitation.

This was the nicest place we stayed in SL. The room and facilities were amazing and there were lots of personal touches and nice details. I'd definitely recommend this place. It's also a short walk into town.

Every corner of the room was adorned with charming details, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was always friendly and exceptionally helpful.

The room was absolutely gorgeous! It was very clean, and everything was well furnished. We became a little (too) obsessed with the couch in the room. Breakfast was fantastic. The owners thought of everything - right down to having nail clippers in the room. For the price we paid, it was such a steal. We cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you!

The accomodation is tucked away and the taxi driver couldn’t find the address. Would have appreciated more support in finding the accomodation as it is not well signposted.

Quality of the room was excellent. Lots of nice touches such as feature lights. The Indika and his wife were very attentive and provided a delicious breakfast each morning with excellent variety and choice. The outside area where we had our breakfast had lots of space with a table and chairs a d a chair swing to the side which was nice to relax on and for pics. Indika offered helpful additional services like a driver for transfers which we took him up on for a reasonable price. During one transfer we saw the Dyaluma water falls with a guide and other sites which he arranged for us. The location is really good, being a 5 min walk from the main Ella centre, though you have to be reasonably fit and mobile as the path is very rough in parts...but was fine for us. Besides the short cut into town there is the little road up to the main road, where you can also find nice quieter restaurants and walking routes up to little Adam's peak and another to 9 Arches bridge. We had a great time here, thanks to our very attentive hosts!

Not a problem, but the jacuzzi in the bathroom was cold so not very useful, but if heated would be a nice feature.

This room and accompanying outside space is altogether very special. It is quiet, has views across to Ella Rock, and has an altogether lavish feel about it, as demonstrated by the presence of a private jacuzzi in the bathroom. Tharaka and her lovely little girl, Tavi, are delightful and provide a stunning breakfast on the patio outside the bedroom. It is a short and easy walk into the centre of town where there are many restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes. We cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Our only concern, which we couldn't possibly convey to Indika, the owner, was that on our second and last morning, he and his cleaner were rather intrusive in being around well before our breakfast time, much more than seemed necessary. Bearing in mind, both the bedroom and bathroom have glass walls, we felt a lack of privacy. This, plus him asking when we were checking out (we had no intention of overstaying his 10.00am time) and re-counting the notes, I had pointedly counted in front of him, came across as being unsubtly pushy. It's a minor criticism, but tainted our otherwise perfect stay. Indika needs to learn to remain charming and unintruisive to the very end, otherwise it comes across as him only being interested in a 10 out of 10 rating and wanting to move on to the next customers. I hope he can learn from this.

The Symbol of Ella is a perfect place to stay in Ella. Tucked away from the noise of the main high street, it is super comfortable and spacious. The room has a huge king bed and a lovely terrace with numerous seating and lighting options. Breakfast is incredible and large. Smoothies are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. And the host is so knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely recommend!

The hosts were incredibly nice, we got all we needed, they even had a little flashlight so you can find the way in the city. The apartment was very very clean and very well prepared although we booked spontaneously. The shower has good pressure and is hot, the breakfast was the best food I had during my whole Sri Lanka stay (10 days) even better than in restaurants and we had a lot of space there. The balcony has a roof so even if it‘s raining, you can sit outside.

Indika and his family were the perfect hosts , it was our first time in Ella and they couldn’t have been more helpful. The place is beautiful photos don’t do it justice and the breakfast was fantastic. Being able to do a short cut down to the town was a bonus and then back to the tranquil house for relaxation. They really had thought of everything down to the finest detail, my husband caught a cold and cough while we were there and wanted a face mask for the taxi and sure enough there was a box of masks on the shelf!

Very nice and clean room. They were on top of every little detail (e.g., they had an emergency kit, a flashlight, etc.). Breakfast was great and staff was very nice.

The room is charming, with lots of space, unique and beautifully decorated and wonderful hosts. There is a lovely outside sitting area and a nice jacuzzi bath. The place is perfectly clean and well stocked for any needs you may have. The breakfast was amazing, fantastic hoppers, the best we have had in Sri Lanka. Conveniently located close to town, but just far away that it is quiet and peaceful.

Best breakfast and best room we have had in our trip in Sri Lanka. Indika, the owner, and his wife and super lovely. I was feeling a bit sick and they made me a tea for my stomach. Beautiful room, private garden and bathroom attached to Indika’s home. Location is perfect. The bed is so comfortable and there are many lighting options inside and outside making for a comfortable stay. Indika and his family are also lovely and very hospitable throughout. Nice breakfasts too!

We have just stayed in this beautiful peaceful spacious guest house which is a mere 5 minute walk to the main part of all the hustle & bustle of Ella even for slow walkers. The hosts are charming & nothing is too much trouble from the pick up from the railway station our trip was made a seamless holiday & that all our needs were catered for. Drivers information delish breakfast served on the large outdoor area Which was great for relaxing on bean bag in the heat of the day. In the property there are so many thoughtful touches & the jacuzzi was a great for a cool down.The bed is big & comfortable ,the towel thick & not fraying. We only stayed 2 nights & wish we’d stayed longer Many many thanks we loved this place

What a beautiful and nice place. The owner is a really nice guy and the accommodation has just been renovated. Pretty room, conveniently decorated and a nice bathroom. Amazing and varied/personalized breakfast.

Since it was just renovated some things were nog yet functioning optimally. The jacuzzi was still cold, but the heater will be installed later this summer. Also the wifi could be faster.

The room is amazing. It has been recently renovated by the owners with excellent sense of taste. Additionally, it is perfectly equipped. Very close to the center by walking. Indika and his family were lovely. They also helped us organize our stay in Ella as well as the rest of our trip. We recommend it for sure!

We had an amazing time at The Symbol of Ella. We were the first guests after 3 months of renovations, and we were really surprised with the beauty of the room when we arrived. Everything is new and clean, the room includes a jacuzzi, a nice outside terrace and everything you could think of is very well taken care of. Also the location is great. Since it’s just outside the centre, its nice and quiet, but within a few minutes walking distance of all the restaurants and bars. Also breakfast was very nice, you can choose between Sri Lankan and European breakfast, and it includes fruits and the best smoothies we’ve had. Thanks a lot to Indika, definitely the friendliest host we have had in our 3 weeks stay in Sri Lanka. He and his family really made it a perfect stay!

We loved everything about our stay at the Symbol of Ella, Indika was an amazing host! He communicated with us via whatsapp prior to our stay and was extremely responsive and helpful. The room itself is beautiful and has everything you need, including a hairdryer and torch for getting back from town to the room via the short cut at night (takes about 5minutes and does have some lights along the way). The breakfast was exceptional- we had Sri Lankan breakfast every day and by far it was the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka! Indika was extremely helpful with suggesting things to do in the area and arranging our onward transfer at a reasonable price. Him and his family also helped us with some laundry too, again at a reasonable price and everything was returned smelling fresh and ironed! We really cannot recommend the Symbol of Ella more and look forward to suggesting it to all our friends and family or returning if we come to Sri Lanka again!

This place was great! The host and his family were super kind and helpful (helped me out with a nice place for a massage, did laundry on request as well). You can contact him with any questions. The room is beautifully styled and spotless clean, and has everything you could think of. Really good bed! Then the breakfast... amazing! Pancakes, coconut roti with dahl and sambol, fresh fruit, fresh juice, tea.. the best! Also received a nice fresh juice when I arrived. On Google maps it seems further from the main street, but there is a shortcut! The host will show you. It is 5 minutes walking to the main street. This is actually better than staying even closer to the main street, because it is more peaceful and quiet at night!

A great location, close enough to the centre but far enough to enjoy the peace. Immaculate facilities with every thing you could think of, and a whole lot more you hadn’t thought of. This place is nestled within a community of home stays but Indika has gone the extra mile to give this place a unique, funky and tasteful style of its own. Has stocked fridge, great Wi-Fi and lots more, the breakfasts are big and very fresh, the rotis were the best we’d had in 3 weeks in SL, soft, light and airy, his lovely wife went out of her way to make us extra on request. Indika has the typical kind spirit of every Sri Lankan, he will help organise tours, transport, food or anything else you may need , but his prices are reasonable and he was quick to call out a tuk driver who he believed was overcharging. The driver he found for our onward travel was also fair( and a great driver), these guys are a new breed of young Sri Lankans who are bringing a degree of professionalism to the business. Give it a go, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Also Indika arranged tours and transportation for us and was really caring all of the time. Wonderful homestay! We loved the place and enjoyed every minute, even though we online had little time. The host and his family are super friendly, he even acted as a tour guide spontaneously and dropped us off at the must-sees of the area, as we were limited in time. Very central location. We booked 3 nights and stayed 5. Our host Indika is the kindest person we have met anywhere in the World and we have travelled a lot. He helped us so much over the 5 days and we are humbly grateful. On top of that the accommodation is spotlessly clean, so tastefully designed and located in the tree canopy a short walk from town but with the feeling of being completely immersed in nature. Breakfast on the terrace watching the birds and squirrels was always delicious and Indika organised everything for us. Symbol of Ella is a cut above anything else in Ella for so many reasons. It’s head and shoulders above anywhere we have stayed in Sr Lanka. It easily deserves 15/10 with absolutely nothing to complain about. If you’re looking for the perfect place with the most caring host then book early and make sure you bag this…………….it’s that special x

There is absolutely nothing to dislike

We had a wonderful stay in Ella, many thanks to Indika and his great family! The accommodation is very centrally located and the main street of Ella is just a short walk away. Indika is an excellent host. We rented a scooter through him and used it to explore Ella and the surrounding area. Indika also offered us a cab service. The accommodation was very clean, beautifully furnished and the breakfast was delicious. Before breakfast, he swept the terrace and lit incense sticks. At the end of our stay, Indika took us to the bus stop for our onward journey to Udawalawe. Because of the rain the air in the room is quite humid, this could be remedied with air conditioning. We would come back again and again and recommend the accommodation with a clear conscience.

The stunning room delated you once you arrive, every detail makes you feel so comfortable and it makes you feel like in the middle of the jungle. The host Indika gave us a super warm welcome and was so helpful from the beginning until the end. We highly recommend this place to everyone. Thanks!

Indika the owner was extremely attentive to details and went above and beyond for us. The location was great, the atmosphere was special, the bed was comfortable, the room spacious and the breakfast delicious! Be aware that this is a homestay so you will enter through the owner's home and it is a shared external space with the home and with neighbours. Even though we could hear the neighbours slightly it was truly a quiet, relaxing getaway in a really special place. We appreciated Indika's efforts to make us feel at home and to help us with whatever we needed. Definitely great value.

Indika is so helpful and kind! the room is beautiful, comfortable and very clean. we loved to stay at Indika‘s home! ella town is super close, 4-5 minutes in walking distance. we really recommend this place :) the wifi connection was good and fast. the breakfast was tasty and you can choose between different options.

Exceptional place and great value for money. Key highlights include: - Indika, our host, who has been incredible throughout the trip. This included maintaining the rooms throughout our stay as well as organising cars for us around the country and organising our safari day in Yala. Indika is an exceptional host and did an excellent job on our holiday. - the place is perfectly located, a short walk from the city centre. Room is spacious and Indika makes sure it is clean at all times. Bathroom is lovely. We had the Sri Lankan breakfast every day which was yummy and filling - being so close to the city centre meant it was very easy to organise activities and head out around ella in the day

This hotel/home stay is the best of Ella. First of all Indika and his family are the nicest people/family we met along the way. They are so welcoming and make sure that your stay is super comfortable. The room is so clean, good bed, and amazing shower. In the morning they serve an amazing breakfast. He also helped us with transport for the remaining days of holiday. I would come back for sure and recommend this place to friends.

Basically the hotel is a home stay with only one room to rent. Though home stay may have some negative connotations to some, the room is at one edge of the home and quite private. The room itself is full of special touches and is quite spacious with a wonderful balcony only comprised by the mosquitoes. The owners are extremely conscientious and hospitable. The breakfasts were incredible and our one dinner there equally enjoyi.

Really nothing. A bit of a trek into town for the evening meal but owners happily arranged a tuk-tuk ride back. A better inside seating arrangement would be one suggestion.

Very nice and very lovingly furnished accommodation. Only 5 minutes walk from town. Very nice terrace where great breakfast was served every morning. The cleanliness of this accommodation is to be emphasized, we have never experienced anything like it in Sri Lanka! We loved it! Very friendly and caring host. We didn't miss anything and wouldn't improve anything! Indika had very good tips for excursions, shops, etc. He also booked us a fantastic cooking class. He organized tuk tuks for us and the onward journey with a driver and all at fair prices! Thank you for everything Indika, we will be back and will definitely stay longer next time!!!

The room is beautiful, clean, comfortable and has an amazing balcony with a lovely garden where you can watch all the birds and animals running around the trees. Indika went above and beyond to help us navigate Ella. After our stay he helped organized transportation to the next city. The breakfast which was included in the price was amazing; smoothies, eggs, toast, fruits, pancakes, tea, or whatever you want. Honestly our best stay of the whole trip and would recommend anyone going to Ella to book with him.

Indy was such a lovely guy. Personal contact was great. Large breakfast, comfy beds and excellent shower. Right in nature, we even had monkeys passing by on our terrace. Pillows were great (underrated!) aswell! Homestay as you want it to be!

Five star accommodation: comfortable, clean, quiet and tastefully decorated with a breathtaking balcony view of Ella. Our wonderful host Indika and his family could not do enough for us, and the breakfast was a delicious treat.

We enjoyed our stay at the Symbol of Ella. Is a beautiful room, very clean and comfortable. This is the only guest room at the property at present, so it feels more like an airbnb or guesthouse. The hosts take extremely good care, they cooked for us the most amazing food we ate in Sri Lanka and Indika took care of all our transportation and questions with an open and warm heart. This is a good place to stay that supports a nice local family. Thank you Indika for all your support and kindness

Do yourself a favor and stay here while in Ella! The room is new, gorgeous, and impeccably clean! You can't beat the location, only a 5 min walk to town through a short cut. Indika and his family are the sweetest hosts and take care of any request you may have. They also can help arrange tours and transportation. Breakfast was delectable and huge. All in all, our best stay in Sri Lanka!

The accommodation was perfect, it was clean, well equipped and comfortable! The location is great, just a 5 minute walk into Ella town. Lovely room and very nice bathroom, I would recommend for anyone to stay here. Breakfast was also very nice, one of the best we have had since arriving in Sri Lanka. Indika was very helpful and provided advice on what to do, he also helped us arrange a taxi and Safari after we left Ella.
