El buen recibimiento, lo bonita y confortable que es la habitación, muy limpia con buena cama y las visitas a la naturaleza desde la misma, así como en la terraza del desayuno que también estaba rico y generoso.

The location was great. Calm area surrounded by nature and just a 7 minute walk to town. The room was really cozy and I felt right at home. Very comfy bed and wonderful balcony with amazing views. The breakfast was very good. The staff and owner was incredibly kind and helpful and took me on day trips in the area, which was awesome for me as a solo traveler. Extra plus for lovely cat visitors 🐈🫶

I liked the owner of the property and the room was quite big and I like the balcony but the location was a bit far from the center so that's why we moved to another one.

Heerlijk dichtbij het centrum, maar toch in de rust. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De kamer en douche waren heerlijk. En tot zover het beste ontbijt van heel de reis.

Die Lage ist perfekt, vor sich hat man Natur pur mit Ausblick auf den Ella Rock und hinter sich das Stadtzentrum. Das Personal ist zuvorkommend und freundlich. Das Frühstück lecker und üppig. War das zweite Mal dort und würde immer wieder hingehend

Wir hatten einen wirklich wunderschönen Aufenthalt im Madushanka Resort. Unser Gastgeber Sidath hat sich während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts außergewöhnlich herzlich um uns gekümmert und war immer hilfsbereit. Er hat uns tolle Tipps gegeben und sogar einen sehr zuverlässigen Fahrer organisiert, der uns zu den Wasserfällen und den schönsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Umgebung gebracht hat. Unser Zimmer war sehr groß, äußerst sauber und perfekt für uns drei. Auch das Badezimmer war modern und in einem hervorragenden Zustand. Die Unterkunft liegt mitten im Grünen – morgens wird man von den Geräuschen des Dschungels geweckt, und wir konnten sogar Affen beobachten. Gleichzeitig ist man in wenigen Minuten im Zentrum von Ella. Direkt schräg gegenüber gibt es außerdem eine gemütliche Bar. Das Frühstück war jeden Morgen ein Highlight: liebevoll zubereitet mit frischen Säften, Obst und immer wieder köstlichen lokalen Spezialitäten. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und können das Madushanka Resort jedem empfehlen, der eine ruhige Unterkunft in der Natur mit einem außergewöhnlich herzlichen Gastgeber sucht. Vielen Dank, Sidath – wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

Schone kamers met mooie grote balkons. Lieve mensen die (zelf) helpen met vervoer en goede adviezen geven qua uitstapjes. Heel gemoedelijk en zeer gastvrij.Een heerlijk vers ontbijt met elke dag een andere huisgemaakt gerecht. In de nacht hoor je alleen vogels, maar je bent met 10 min lopen in de hoofdstraat van Ella.

Als we iets moeten noemen, de sloten en deuren klemmen en maken veel lawaai.

Super mooi uitzicht, lekker ontbijt, aardige host, optie tot laundry en scooter huren. Mooie kamer en heerlijk geslapen!

The best hotel so far in srilanka. Nice and calm view, very comfy bed, AC, fridge, boiler and friendly staff. Breakfast was also good.

Location may seem far away according to maps. But you can access from the rail tracks side and it quiet closw.

I had a very positive experience at the Madushanka Resort. My girlfriend and I stayed in a top-floor room with an open terrace. The room was clean and had a great atmosphere. The view from the room was stunning. The breakfasts were delicious. Sidath was very helpful and assisted us with any questions we had, he was very pleasant and kind The owner provided a scooter at a very reasonable price. It’s a 5-minute walk from the hotel to the city’s main street (Sidath also kindly pointed out this shortcut to us). I highly recommend this hotel - you won’t regret it.

Een fantastisch balkon met uitzicht op Ella rock. Met een extra balkon wat afgesloten kon worden zodat je kan ontbijten zonder visite van de apen. Een heerlijk ontbijt! Extra service door het meedenken over mogelijkheden binnen Ella en vervoer. Je kan makkelijk naar de hoofdstraat lopen.

Værelset var virkelig godt, god seng og dejlig stor balkon med udsigt til natur. Vi fik virkelig behandling af Sidath, som var utrolig hjælpsom og gav os gode tips til området. Ejeren lavede rigtig god morgenmad til os, og vi følt os meget trygge. Det ligger lidt oppe, men man kan nemt komme til byen ad en smutvej. Alt i alt en virkelig god oplevelse!

Man er i naturen, og der er små dyr, men det kan man sagtens overleve. Alt andet var virkelig godt!

We picked this place because its location, which is closed to the town center without the hills. We used the railway track as a short cut. The host was super nice, he told us how to take the bus to our next destination, and made our journey very smooth. WiFi was fast through our stay. Very good and generous Sri Lankan breakfast.

Breakfast was delicious with a lovely spread of different items. Our room was very comfortable and we loved the view from the balcony. We were always greeted with a big smile and were assisted with anything we needed. Cannot fault the service and the accommodation. We will be recommending Madushanka to anyone who visits Ella!

The property did not live up to "resort" standards. There was a foul smell coming from the bathroom...realized it was a leak in the toilet seat when flushed, informed the property owner who promised to fix it but nothing was Done while i was there. Please

The location is great. Great view , very quite and really short way to the Main Street (shortcut via railway tracks). The rooms are cozy and clean. Breakfast is delicious and best black coffee of Sri Lanka. The staff is very helpful and has very good advices for activities also beside tourist tracks. Check it out

The place is great with views over Ella Rock and the location is perfect with the shortcut via the railroad to the town. The breakfast was tasty and it was plenty with local food and fruit. Special thanks go to Sidath who was super helpful and friendly during all my stay.

Such a lovely place. It’s on a very steep hill, but there is a flat shortcut to town along the train tracks. Cozy rooms with modern bathroom and a fantastic view! Be prepared for jungle sounds during the night. Lovely big breakfast. We stayed for 3 nights and would highly recommend the place. Very kind and helpful staff.

Smelly and humid bathroom, no cleaning or change of towels during my 3 night stay. Location is on the narrow and sloppy road, not all vehicles agree to drive there.

The staff are great. Sidath (sorry if I've spelt this wrong) is super-helpful and trustworthy. He gave us lots of top tips for walking ( it's a beautiful area for hiking and the Pekoe trail goes right through Ella - download the trail app for a good on/offline map). He often checked if we needed anything for our room. He organised our onward taxi for a fair price. He also went to a whole lot of effort to get the tablet I accidentally left by the bed forwarded to me in Mirissa - I am so grateful! He speaks very good English too. The owner (and breakfast chef) was also very friendly, and made great Sri lankan breakfasts, served on the room's private balcony. You can watch monkeys, squirrels, and red woodpeckers in the trees whilst you eat breakfast! The accommodation is away from the noisy main road - and although it's up a little hill for a car/ tuktuk it's only a 2 minute , flat walk along the side of the railway line into town. Initially I was disappointed that the room was very dark. It's dark because it's got solid timber walls rather than concrete, but I grew to appreciate it, especially the wonderful scent of the wood. New shower, which works really well. Fair value for money for Ella, which is a bit more expensive than some other locations.

The place is totally amazing! The upstair room with the terrace and even the second floor with incredible view was one of my best stays in Sri-Lanka. It very cozy, all wooden, very good hot shower, good breakfast and very caring and helpful host.

Tolle Lage, alle Hauptsehenswürdigkeiten von Ella sind mit einer Wanderung/ Spaziergang (und dafür ist man ja schließlich in Ella) fußläufig zu erreichen. Nah am Zentrum aber eben doch am Rande und deswegen deutlich entspannter und ruhiger. Tolles Frühstück und unglaublich freundliches Personal. Jederzeit wieder!

De locatie is super! Je loopt eenvoudig naar alle bezienswaardigheden in Ella, je bent zo in het centrum maar zit niet midden in de drukte. Ook het ontbijt was elke ochtend super! Elke dag iets anders met typische Sri Lankaanse gerechten. Personeel super aardig!

This was a fantastic stay. Sidath was very welcoming, he was so helpful and brought us breakfast on the balcony every morning which was delicious and the coffee was so good! The view from our room was beautiful. The room was clean and the property was perfectly located. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location, quiet and in nature but really close to the main street. The host literally couldn't do enough for us, he was so helpful and told us about all the walks and shortcuts when we asked. So polite and kind, he even carried our heavy bags upstairs for us. We booked the deluxe room and it had an amazing view of Ella rock and the monkeys and other wildlife we could see in the trees. Breakfast with a view was lovely every morning too. Highly recommend this stay. The shower was also hot with great water pressure!

Idyllic! Incredible view of Ella’s Rock. Extremely comfortable room and bathroom with a powerful hot shower. Amazing breakfast, served in our room on the balcony. Monkeys everywhere! Very short walk along the tracks to town. The staff were very welcoming and always on hand with local advice and directions. A real highlight of our holiday.

Amazing location as its not in the busy center but you could easily reach center by walking for barely 3-4 minutes via railway track shortcut. There is a private balcony. Staff is very helpful and accommodating and even own a tuk tuk for quick pick up and drop (on chargeable basis). Breakfast served was very good.

Room is very basic and small but it was expected from photos and is perfect for solo travellers. My only complain is poorly designed washroom, where wash basin is right in front of toilet seat. On top of that, the door almost touches the toilet seat on closing/opening so you need to step away and navigate through the limited space every time you’re opening/closing door. I would suggest to go with bigger room with bigger washroom as location is perfect and staff is very helpful.

La struttura è semplice ma confortevole, e il punto di forza è stata la disponibilità dell’host, che ha anche organizzato il trasporto delle valigie fino alla strada principale, poichè essendoci delle scalette e una stradina non agevole non era semplice. La camera era pulita, dotata di acqua calda e di un piccolo balconcino immerso nella natura. La posizione è strategica: con circa 200 metri a piedi si raggiunge facilmente il centro, con negozi, ristoranti e bancomat. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.

Das Personal ist außergewöhnlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Besonders Sidath hat uns mit hervorragenden Tipps und vielen hilfreichen Informationen rund um Ella versorgt und unseren Aufenthalt dadurch sehr angenehm gemacht. Auch der Koch war großartig – das Frühstück war abwechslungsreich, frisch und sehr lecker. Am letzten Tag haben wir sogar ein liebevoll zusammengestelltes Lunchpaket erhalten. Der Laundry-Service war ebenfalls hervorragend und sehr zuverlässig. Die Lage des Hotels ist perfekt: nur wenige Gehminuten von der touristischen Hauptstraße entfernt, in unmittelbarer Nähe zu Restaurants und Bars. Alles ist bequem zu Fuß erreichbar und dennoch ist es angenehm ruhig.

Das Raumklima im Zimmer war sehr feucht, teilweise sogar feuchter als draußen. Auch mit eingeschalteter Klimaanlage ließ sich das nicht wirklich verbessern, wodurch es etwas modrig roch. Zudem waren zwei Handtücher für einen Aufenthalt von drei Nächten etwas knapp bemessen.

Huoneessa oli viihtyisä tilava terassi viidakkonäkymillä. Majoittaja oli aina valmis vastaamaan kysymyksiin ja neuvomaan. Aamiaisella sai oikeaa kahvia, eikä pikakahvia. Mukavaa, että maksu kortilla onnistui!

Vesisateesta, mikä ei toki majapaikan vika. Kosteus oli niin suurta, että pyyhkeet ja vaatteet pysyivät kosteina. Aamiaisesta en oikein pitänyt. Kylpyhuone vaikutti hieman epäsiistiltä, epämiellyttävä haju.

We had a wonderful stay at Madushanka! The view from the terrace is stunning, everything was super clean and well thought out, and the host was absolutely the best. He helped us with sightseeing, introduced us to the neighborhood, and was attentive at all times. The property is also located very close to the town. Oh - and the breakfast is the best!

There was hot water at the property, although the water pressure is low. Still, it was manageable.

Staff were lovely, and breakfast was a standout. View of Ella Rock and balcony was really nice. Location works well (when taking the shortcut, being careful of the railway).

Mainly the shower - soft pressure and mildly warm water, however this is apparently due to the weather in the area and not isolated to the accomodation.

Patīkama, laipna sagaidīšana. Uzreiz pacienāja ar kafiju, ieteica daudz ko. Ļoti laba atrašanās vieta pie paša centra. Ļoti labas brokastis. Istabiņai bija balkons ar krēslu un galdu, pie paša balkona aug džekfrūti un lēkā pērtiķi pa koku- skats izcils.

Staff was very kind and accomodating. Breakfast was also good. It was a 5-10 min walk to the busy street if you walked over the tracks. I liked that it wasn’t on the busy street so it was quite peaceful . Nice view over Ella rock!

My room smelled very humid and like mold, the towels also had a weird smell to them. The mats in the room looked like they had never been washed. I discovered a lot of mold on my walls and asked if i could move to another room cause I have lung issues. They said they would check but never got back to me…

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room and bathroom, good Wifi and a yummy and large breakfast (incl. fruits, different each day) with a gorgeous view of Ella Rock. It's just a few minutes by foot to town where you'll find shops and restaurants. Siddath explained where to find what and how to get to Ella Rock and Little Adam's Peak (both recommended hikes). Next to the guesthouse is a lady who provides laundry service. Good mosquito net around the bed. We very much enjoyed our stay and would stay there again any time. Note for the Ella Rock hike: on the train tracks, before Kithalella station, there was a group of locals trying to divert tourists and then posing as "guides". Be aware and ignore them. Just walk past them and follow the path like described by the Madushanka staff.

If you’re going to Ella, this is the place to stay at! Comfortable rooms, good water pressure in the shower, amazing balcony facing the mountains. Location from the main road was excellent, either via the slightly longer (and very beautiful) official road or the more fun shortcut on the other side of the house. Breakfast was fantastic, both big and delicious. We had so much fun with our amazing host Sidath, who was so kind and generous. Provided us with plenty of recommendations on what to do and how to do it in the area. We felt very well taken care of, if we come back to Ella we will stay here again.

Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt. Das Personal ist hilfsbereit, freundlich und geht auf Wünsche ein. Das obere Zimmer neben der Frühstücksterrasse ist sehr schön. Vom großen Balkon hat man einen herrlichen Blick auf den Ella Rock. Das Frühstück war lecker und reichhaltig. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut.

Everything went well, from my greeting from Siddarth (spelling?) to the room, take the KIng suite, it's superb, to the view which is majestic, to the upper deck, the breakfast. It's all sublime.

We absolutely loved our stay at Madushanka Resort . The space is amazing, peaceful, comfortable. Beautiful surroundings, waking up to the view of the mountain or falling asleep with sounds of the jungle felt incredible. The hosts are incredibly friendly and very helpful! The breakfast was probably one of the best if not the best we had during our entire trip in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended staying at Madushanka Resort!

The space is very charming and has views of trees and Ella rock, the moment I saw this and the balcony overlooking the rock - it was all I could have hoped for. I enjoy some beautiful mornings here. Sidarth was super helpful and attentive and took care of all my requirements. Breakfast was local and bountiful. The property offers excellent value for money. You can use the train tracks (carefully) for a short-cut into town - bypassing the longer steep route, you can also use this for convenient walks to Nine Arches Bridge, Ella Rock and The White Rabbit restaurant. I slept well here in the peace and quiet.

Shower is a little dated and could do with some updating.

We have been just for one night for a pitstop traveling south, it was unfortunately raining a lot but we had a nice welcome and the hotel is great located, clean and faces the Ella Rock with a nice view Breakfast was amazing ( ask for hoppers and coconut pancakes;) ) We absolutely recommend staying there also longer

We booked fairly late in the day and last minute, Madushanka were so accommodating for us, they even made us breakfast both days at 6am - great start to the day!

There was a funny stanky smell in the bathroom which at times was unpleasant.

Sidath, our host, is so friendly and hospitable. Showed us around the room, served us breakfast, helped us with shortcut directions to town and landmarks and was up for a good chat and a laugh. The room is lovely - big comfortable bed, clean bathroom, aircon & fan, fridge and more. The balcony is the best part - such an amazing view!! You can also see the train from the property. And it is very close to town.

Die Unterkunft ist nicht so einfach zu finden und mit dem Auto scheint es ein weiter Weg dahin zu sein mit sehr engen Strassen. Das super coole ist aber, dass man dann zu Fuss über die Geleise in 3 Minuten das Zentrum erreicht, wo sich all die Restaurants und Läden befinden.

Wir hatten uns auf zwei "gleiche" Zimmer eingestellt und dann war das Zimmer im Erdgeschoss etwas enttäuschend, auch wenn es voll ok ist für den Preis:-)... das oberste Zimmer ist sehr schön und man hat sogar Ausblick auf den Ella Rock :-)

Great location especially when using the short cut to town - perfect combination of being close to town without being right in the mix. It’s quiet throughout the day - our room had a balcony which was great to chill out on. Above all we want to thank Sidath for his incredibly warm hospitality, he truly made our stay.

It was very close to everything and yet off the main road. I had my own private balcony where I saw monkeys in the trees nearby!

Personale gentilissimo e colazione SPETTACOLARE. Il posto si trova in una posizione fantastica, a pochi minuti dal centro ma immerso nel verde. Letto comodissimo e balcone super spazioso. Punto extra: avevo bisogno di capire come visitare Ella, per poi successivamente spostarmi verso un'altra città, e il personale mi ha aiutata tantissimo. Grazie a loro sono riuscita a fare tutto senza problemi. È stato bello, grazie di cuore!

We had a lovely few days at Madushanka Resort! The location is great as it’s only a short walk into town where you can find everything you need to have a good stay. The staff were great and very helpful with recommendations as well as setting up a scooter rental and laundry!

The staff were very kind and helpful, the room and the view were lovely. It was a good breakfast and they catered to my wheat and dairy allergies. There is a short cut to the hotel along the railway so it is closer to town than is shown on Google maps. There is a man there that has a tuk tuk and will take you where you want to go for a charge, he's a nice man and he's a safe driver. Recommended
