Jeakes House was wonderful. The staff were so helpful. The rooms are beautifully furnished, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was superb.

Oodles of character! Well located in a beautifully cobbled street in the historic centre of Rye and close to the shops. Great staff made us feel welcome from arrival to departure. Great breakfast and bar area. There is parking nearby. Am not sure about the ghosts!

Fantastisk personale, som gjorde alt for at oppholdet vårt skulle bli bra. Kjørte oss til og med til stasjonen da vi skulle reise. Rent og pent. Deilig frokost. Et fantastisk hotel med mye sjarm. Som å bo i et "levende museum".

Det eneste negative var trykket på vannet. Vanskelig å skylle såpe ut av håret.

Lovely location in the centre of Rye. We had a lovely big room at the back of the hotel. I really enjoyed sitting on the window seat looking at the view. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. We made good use of the honesty bar which was a nice touch.

I booked as it stated no dogs allowed. I do not want to stay in a room a dog has been in as I have an allergy to their fur. We came down to breakfast and a dog was under the breakfast table. I was the told that dogs are allowed in all rooms except for 1. It is very wrong to advertise on booking. com no dogs allowed if you do allow them. It is a very beautiful house but we will not return.

Gorgeous surroundings and every room seems to have its charms. The breakfast was a delight.

WiFi was a bit temperamental

Excellent location, helpful.and friendly staff, very good breakfast. Nothing to complain about at all, variable Wi-Fi only to be expected in such a building in Rye.

La ubicación es perfecta, el desayuno buenísimo y la casa tiene mucha historia.

Es importante saber que para acceder a las habitaciones hay que subir dos pisos de escaleras muy empinadas y estrechas. La bañera era bastante incómoda para ducharse, había que sentarse dentro para poder hacerlo con comodidad.

Nothing we didn't like, superb location in Rye. We will certainly return as 3 days isn't enough time to see everything. Just be careful on the cobbles on Mermaid Strret!

Jeakes is a classic Georgian Town House Hotel it has oodles of charm and character, and it has some less common traits in the modern era, things like the honesty bar and courteous and engaged inhouse team

It is to be expected in a property that dates back to the first half of the 16 hundreds, but air conditioning was missing, that said they did everything possible in what is no doubt a listed building to help reduce the fierce sweltering summer heat, providing fans and ensuring curtains were drawn to reduce room temperatures

Historic and quirky

Some of the stairs particularly up into Elders Room were extremely difficult- quite dangerous for older people.

Breakfast was wonderful, stuff was very professional and polite, wonderful town to walk around. Plenty of places to drink and eat.

Walking on big pebbles in some streets is bit of challenge but I guess it's part of history.

A very warm welcome, immediately made us feel comfortable! Showed us up to our room and was very knowledgeable about everything! I loved the relaxed atmosphere and the non invasive way the staff work around you! Breakfast is the best we've ever had! Lovely view from our room! Tea and coffee making facilities WITH BISCUITS (that made my day) and topped up each day of our 3 night stay! Clean bedding, lovely smell of softener on the pillow cases haha! Chocolate by your bed each day, nice touch! Nice toiletries in the bathroom and gorgeous, fluffy white towels! Attentive cleaners and super helpful when we couldn't get our TV to work

Our bed dipped alot on one side and we would have liked the offer of a bigger room as we were in the attic it felt like! That's the only downside of our stay, everything else was perfect and the staff are brilliant!

We can't think of anything for us although it is perhaps not the place to stay if you have difficulty going up and down stairs. It is a wonderful old building, several houses joined together so there are a number of steep, old staircases to negotiate.

the only place to stay in Rye, for that real Oldy world charm right in the centre of everything. cannot recommend enough. the period features but also the excellent staff and great breakfast. Great parking too

The location was perfect, 10 minute walk to town centre. Lots of choice for eating out. Staff very welcoming and efficient. The premises are very old and quirky

Because of the quirky nature of the building it would probably not be suitable for those with mobility issues as getting up the stairs can be difficult with sharp turns and steep gradient

The hotel was fabulous. The rooms were very attractive and spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. There was plenty of wardrobe and drawer space also. We were on the top floor which if you had mobility issues could be problematic as there was a very steep and windy staircase. The hotel has a very interesting history and is decorated beautifully in keeping with it's age.

I have absolutely no complaints at all.

Highly recommended - we absolutely loved everything about our stay: the 16th century building, the love and care that goes into everything, the staff, the honorary bar and the fantastic breakfast. This is a gem and we hope to return.

The staff was friendly and very helpful, all of them. Best breakfast we have had in the UK. Location is perfect. Close to everything but just off main street so no noise. We are giving this place our top rating of all places we have stayed.

Wonderful place situated right in the heart of Rye. It had been restored beautifully with authentic decour and the breakfast in the morning was phenomenal. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the room was spacious and comfortable. The location was also nice and quiet so no concerns about noise and not being able to go to sleep.

My only issue was with the fact that the room didn't have blackout curtains and light poured in before 6am in the morning making it difficult to sleep. Otherwise couldn't fault this place and would definitely stay again.

The history of this hotel is wonderful & its location is easily accessible to much in Rye walking. The hosts were outstanding in care for guests, as well as staff, going above & beyond! The full gourmet breakfast was completely delicious, homemade & made to order!
