Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The host is very welcoming and friendly. Spacious, nicely decorated suite with a very comfortable bed and lots of amenities. Delicious home cooked breakfast. Very pretty gardens on the property. Conveniently located within walking or biking distance of multiple wineries.
Perfect location close to the vineyards. Warm, comfortable, and homely, and our lovely host cooked us a delicious breakfast.
Convenient, very pretty, gracious landlady
Amazing full English breakfast served in a beautiful garden view room
A little firmer bef
The Inn was lovely as was our host. The room and bed were comfortable.
Reshma made us a fantastic breakfast every morning and gave us a ton of great advice on what to do in the area. Best host ever!
Great location. Our host Reshma was warm, welcoming & very responsive. She went above & beyond! She made the guests breakfast & packed the 4 of us food for the next day since we were traveling & had to leave before breakfast. Beautiful home & grounds - the garden was gorgeous. On site bikes very basic - could use regular maintenance. Guests had access to shared small fridge, tea, coffee, cookie jar served alongside silverware & beautiful cups, mugs…. Would recommend this gem & would definitely stay here again! Thank You Reshma!
My husband and I had been in a camper van for 3 weeks and decided to spend the night at Anglesea House Inn. It was a last minute decision and we are extremely happy that there was availability. Reshma was so welcoming and the home and grounds were absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately we were only able to spend one night, but if we are ever back in the area we wouldn’t hesitate to stay with Reshma at Anglesea House Inn.
It looks like a little slice of an England.. the gardens are marvelous and Rashma’s heirloom tomatoes make a delicious treat for her great English breakfasts.
This was our first stop on New Zealand and it set a very high bar.
Location is very convenient to many of the wineries in the area. We loved the free bikes to be able to visit the wineries. The breakfast is - as often noted - very generous. The bed was comfortable. The design and decor of the house is very tastefully done. The closet in the room was great to store luggage. The shared bathroom has separate rooms for the shower and toilet (although the sink in the toilet room is very small, so, for example, it would be difficult to wash your face in that sink if someone was taking a shower). Bnb is walking-distance close to a local pub, which was convenient for evenings after wine tastings.
The walk to the shared bathroom in the middle of the night is quite far - while we knew it would be a shared bathroom, we did not anticipate it would be ~30-40 steps to the end of the hallway to get there from our room. The shared bathroom being next to the kitchen/breakfast area was an extra challenge in the mornings. The AC in our room was finicky and the windows did not have screens (plus they were on the ground floor and quite heavy) - for our trip in the summer, the room got quite hot at night and there was no fan in our room. We also wouldn't have minded a smaller breakfast as making it for many guests at once seemed to be a challenge for our host, which was stressful for us when trying to be on time for other scheduled activities (two of the three mornings we were there the breakfast was served 20 minutes+ after we had requested it and there was only one French press for all of the guests, so coffee was in high demand).
As pre other previous reviews, I thought I had booked a room with it's own bathroom, but I had not managed to do that! (my mistake entirely) The second room I had booked (for my daughter) was an extremely small attic room with a sloping ceiling - which was definitely not worth the price. The place was scrupulously clean, and the breakfast portions were very generous.
Wonderful home and exceptional gardens. Extremely comfortable. The hostess was outstanding and went out of her way to make us feel at home. She had good local knowledge and booked us a taxi and made great vineyard recommendations. A large delicious breakfast was served.
All very good.
Beautiful villa and garden, superb breakfast. Above all - wonderful host. We regret that there was no more opportunities to talk to you, Reshma - bacause of our short stay...
Nothing
Excellent time with Reshma. She is a wealth of knowledge for the area and Christchurch, and it was enjoyable to get to know her. The breakfast next morning met expectations and was delicious - honestly I booked partially on account of the Irish breakfast ha. The gardens surrounding the house are gorgeous.
Great breakfast!
Lovely Inn. Hostess was wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful property!
Everything was just right
The home is beautiful--inside and out. Reshma was incredibly accommodating. She provided bikes and helmets to use on the wine trail right outside the home, as well as recommendations for which wineries to visit. She also made a huge delicious breakfast and even gave us some cucumbers and apples from her yard to take for our picnic when we left.
The Anglesea was a beautiful house. We were made to feel at home by Reshma and nothing was too much for her. From local advice to booking tours, she was always there to help. We used the free bikes at the house to tour the vineyards. A fantastic stay in the area.
An enchanting stay in a beautiful inn. We thoroughly enjoyed our too short stay, great ambiance, conversation and a wonderful host. Breakfast was excellent as well. A 5 star review.
Very homely b&b in a great location in Marlborough. Owner was very welcoming and cooked a great breakfast
Beautifully restored gracious home, as a bnb. It’s like stepping back in time except the plumbing’s perfect
Lovely old Edwardian villa in good condition and run by a very hospitable and helpful lady. Reshma welcomed us on arrival and showed us the two rooms we had booked for our group and offered us refreshments. Everything was clean and in good condition. The garden is lovely and well tended, and we enjoyed some of the fruits of it with our breakfast. Reshma cooked our breakfasts to order and they were generous and delicious. Reshma also organised a lunch booking at one of the busy wineries for us, something that took her some time and effort as everything was busy! Very hospitable.
A beautiful garden and well restored period house. Loved the cooked breakfast.
Was confusing as to which rooms had their own bathroom and which had a shared bathroom. We thought we had organised ‘own bathroom’ but did not.
The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the wine region. Reshma has bikes you can use for free or if you want an organised tour there is an operator very close by. Reshma cooked a great breakfast (important to line the stomach before a day of wine tasting!) and she was very helpful with planning cycling routes and recommending winerys to visit. The room was comfortable with a good size bathroom
The room was quite hot, but once we opened the window and got the fan going it was fine
A true, immaculate "bed and breakfast" in a quaint, gorgeous house
Cleanliness, bathroom, garden
Decor somewhat cluttered
This is a very charming old house updated as a wonderful B and B style accommodation. The surrounding gardens are wonderful. All very comfortable and a home made breakfast was offered.
Beautiful property and made to feel at home. Lent us bikes to cycle around the vineyards .
Nothing! Wish we had time to stay another night
The welcome, the helpfulness with travel tips, comfortable and clean rooms, the beautiful gardens
Nothing
The owner is so lovely , can’t do enough for you, the location of the property is fabulous right in the wine region and the host provides bikes so what is there not to like.
Our bedroom was very hot but the host did provide a fan.
Great location, excellent breakfast and beautiful gardens surrounding the house.
The style, attention to detail, location and garden.
Nothing
The grounds are beautiful as well as the quaint Interior. Our room was spacious, clean and nicely furnished. The owner was lovely and made a great breakfast! And.... they have bikes and helmets for us to borrow (free). We biked from the Inn to lovely winerys. It was a perfect stay.
We enjoyed our stay very much. No complaints.
Breakfast was amazing... eggs to order, toast, home made jams and marmalades, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms and potatos!
Can't think of a thing
The breakfast was filling and plentiful. The host was very welcoming and friendly. The location could not be beat. We used the bicycles on the property to visit vineyards and they were superb.
Beautiful gardens all around. Walking distance to great pub for dinner. Owner let us take bikes to wineries and went out of her way to make us to go breakfasts for our early morning departure
Beautiful character home. Host (Reshma) goes above and beyond to make your stay a pleasure. Comfortable beds and high quality bed linen. Separate drawing room to relax in. Great location for vineyards and local dining.
Nothing
This B&B looks just like it does in the pictures. The house and grounds are beautiful and meticulously kept. The owner, Reshma is fantastic and has such an eye for detail in how she decorated the house. We stayed in the Orange Grove room and found it so comfortable, in fact we got our best nights sleep at this B&B during our whole trip. We really enjoyed taking with Reshma and she gave us some very good tips on. what to see while in Renwick and what we should not miss on our way to Kaikoura. Thank you Reshma!! She really made our time special during our stay. Oh, and the breakfast is wonderful also, you won't go hungry, The grounds are beautiful with so many different places to sit and admire the gardens. We highly recommend staying at this B&B, you can 't go wrong.
Nice quiet location perfect for visiting vineyards, excellent facilities, comfortable room and attractive garden
A charming and welcoming house full of interesting objets d'art. Our twin room was fine if a little cosy and our host made a great breakfast each morning. I would not hesitate to recommend it but go for the double room which is lovely. Altogether a very enjoyable stay.
Clean, quiet and full of character. Charming hostess.
Lovely house and grounds. More breakfast than we could eat with shared table for good conversation with other guests.
Parking can be a little tight.
This is a beautiful property with a beautiful garden and beautiful rooms. Everything is provided for you and our host was lovely.
We’ve had a very mixed experience staying at this BnB as people who have stayed in many BnBs in the past. I booked this for a trip with my daughter and while the property and the gardens are beautiful, the room with the twin beds was too small for us. Even though the size of the room is advertised, due to the amount of furniture in the room, we found it hard to open our suitcases. We were also surprised by the room size given the price. When arriving, we also knew that we were going to have a shared bathroom but be aware that the bathroom is far from the room. We were first informed that we would be sharing this bathroom with just one more guest but found ourselves queuing as the toilet was being used by the whole house as it was close to the common areas and had to queue for the shower in the morning…. We would have rated this establishment higher but had a very unpleasant interaction with the owner when leaving. On our end, we forgot to inform that we would not be having breakfast that morning in the end due to our travel plans but we did let her know that we thought the room was too small for twin beds and the bathroom situation was not ideal in the hallway as walking out in a rush to get to our ferry. We then received a very unpleasant message from the owner blaming us for not reading the size of the room correctly and falsely claiming that we yelled at her at breakfast in front of other guests which is simply untrue as we let her know our feedback while walking out of the house. She then continued to answer our replies in a very aggressive manner which made us quite uncomfortable. The house itself is lovely but the treatment we received afterwards was awful.
Cooked breakfast every morning. On the morning I had to leave quickly,Reshma kindly made me a bacon and egg sandwich to take with me.
Our best stay yet. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent out of this world breakfast. Like staying in a dollhouse. Host is super nice and thoughtful
Really quaint house, traditional style interior decorated, perfectly situated amongst vineyards. Very warm and cozy. Beautiful garden ! Extremely clean and tidy, with a very nice bathroom. The host was very welcoming and prepared the best breakfast we had during our 3 weeks NZ road trip 😋😁
Nothing, everything was perfect. Room was small but perfect for our stay (thanks for the upgrade!).
.
Reshma custom made our breakfasts! She made me scrambled eggs ( or any way I wanted them ) grilled tomato and bacon galore and she offered more additional choices like mushrooms etc.. My husband had yoghurt, muesli, toast with peanut butter and honey just what he eats at home and we both had fresh fruit. We had a big pot of freshly brewed coffee and I also had fresh tea and lots of toast. A very generous, fabulous breakfast and we so enjoyed chatting with Reshma, sharing info and stories. LOVED being here! A garden of delight and a delightful, beautiful garden! Great bathroom as well!
Breakfast was amazing. Such a friendly host. Beautiful garden and house.

Excellent location, beautiful gardens and gracious host, who made a wonderful English breakfast for us. Shared bathroom’s shower facilities are new.
Reshma, was an absolute delight a perfect host. The house and gardens are beautifully maintained with a mix of eclectic pieces which just work giving a comfortable and homely feel. Reshma was able to give excellent F&B recommendations for our 3 night stay. Using the well maintained bikes was a real bonus. Many thanks Reshma your bubbly personality made our stay very enjoyable. Fabulous hostess, great location, the facilities were lovely (great garden).
Clean, comfortable and close to Vineyards. Reshma was a wonderful host. We would definitely return. Good communication before, warm welcome and very attentive.

Amazing host and amazing home
Loved the bikes available to guests to cycle to nearby vineyards.
Thank you Reshma for a lovely stay!
the setting and the cleanliness.

The owner was so kind and helpful! Made calls for dinner booking for us, welcomed us with a bottle of NZ wine! Breakfast was outstanding and she made a special vegetarian breakfast. The bikes and suggestions she had for our wine tour worked out great!
Reshma was super friendly and welcoming, and as I was leaving early made me a lovely take away lunch in stead of the cooked breakfast. Thanks
The breakfast!
Very very small room. No air. No room for the luggages (carry on). We had to leave the door open to sleep, right next to the shared bathroom.
Hostess was very friendly and helpful. She served a copious and well-prepared breakfast. The house itself is surrounded by a pleasant garden, and there is a pub which serves food at about 5 minutes on foot.
Room was a shade small.
Lovely Guesthouse with beautiful garden! Stylish and exquisite furnished rooms and the shared "livingroom" had plenty of amusement: games, large flatscreen tv, DVDs.. Very friendly and welcoming "landlady" who also prepared fabulous breakfast...

Lovely full breakfast, coffee and tea available all the time. Beautiful room with sitting area and outside porch. Beautiful gardens.
We appreciated the early check in and bikes so we could get around to our wine tastings! Make sure you triple check the correct place to park on property to avoid any issues. The property was very large and spacious, the yard was lovely! We ended up having it to ourselves and had a lovely time playing cards in the yard. She locks the kitchen at night so you don't have access but most things you should need are in the hall so not a problem. The sitting room was lovely to lounge and read in. Toilet and shower are two different rooms so that's helpful when sharing. Host was very nice, talkative, and had lots of tips. The breakfast was leisurely and very substantial and tasty! A great way to start our departing day. Would recommend!
We were in the front room with the en-suite. It was nicely decorated and comfortable. The bathroom was updated and clean. There was a nice balcony off the bedroom. Breakfast was filling and tasty.
Nothing we didn’t like. The only thing was that it was a little far from restaurants as we didn’t have a car with us.
We loved the location, character and garden
Everything, the room, the garden, the breakfast, the host! Clean and nicely decorated!

Very cute, post-card worthy BnB. Excellent host - very friendly, knowledgeable, warm, accommodating! Close to the Renwick “downtown” with a grocery store, coffee shop, bakery, gas station, and multiple great wineries! Had good amount of parking and offers bicycles if needed too.
