Reviewed Aug 15, 2026We really enjoyed out stay here. We were met by Nero and Mozart, and then Rose our hostess. The room was lovely with everything we needed. Great selection of tea and coffee, breakfast was cereal and or toast with a selection of spreads. Our bed was comfy with great quality linen. Bathroom was roomy and well appointed. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return should we be in the area again.

Reviewed May 4, 2026There are so many reasons to like this place and more. Easy and secure parking for two motorcycles is always top of our agenda - tick. The bed was one of the best we have slept in in a long time. The whole place was clean and very well equipped. The views were wonderful and we wish we had visited on a moon-less night.

Excellent value for money, a home away from home, clean, quiet, equipped with everything we needed, comfy bed, great shower. Would 100% stay again!

Reviewed Apr 14, 2026Great little farm stay out of town a ways but spotlessly clean with a duper vomfy bed. Bert, the horse is beautiful, and the two alpacas are extra cute. The raspberry jam with breakfast was also to die for. Being out of town and very dark made for a supurb view of the night sky and stars.

Reviewed Jan 25, 2026This property had everything you needed from the small kitchen area with a sink to the small sensor light in the bathroom for those nocturnal visits. The view from the large window provided a view of the vast grassy garden. The welcome by Nero (the dog) on arrival was a pleasant surprise. It was most peaceful with light breakfast included.
If you want the shortest route to Amberley, then you will have to go along a gravel road. Other than that, I have no negative comments.

Reviewed Nov 12, 2025Great location, friendly dog Nero, paddocks with alpacas and a young frisky horse. Plenty of space to walk around. The mountains on the horizon. Sunset and sunrise, all good! Awesome breakfast, plenty of choice - oats and toasts, fruit salad, yoghurt, jams, honey, butter, ground coffee, various teas. Coffee machine, microwave, fridge, huge TV screen, Starlink Wi-Fi. Top notch bathroom - walk-in shower, shampoos and a bunch of some things for female travelers.

As we had arrived a bit late last night to check in, we may had woke up a bit late in the morning but still within the check out time before 10am. As the host had an appointment elsewhere that same morning, we were rushed to check out of the unit. We were even escorted out by the host to the farm's gate.

Host was awesome meeting us in the dark with a late checkin, immaculately presented wee place which is pet friendly. Totally recommend and will come back again. Awesome by daylight as well. Toilet wasn't clean and there is no toilet cleaner available or clothes specifically to use for this purpose. This is the third time I've stayed and there is a noticeable decline in cleanliness since the other stays.

Hosts provided everything you could possibly need in the room plus homemade fruit preserve and yoghurt in the fridge. What a treat! Nice decor, and well-placed furniture. Quiet and relaxing, with a very warm welcome from hosts and Nero, their dog. My dogs were welcomed, and hopefully, we will be accepted again in future.

There were so many lovely and thoughtful little touches, from lovely shower gel and shampoo to a variety of coffees to accompany the provided continental breakfast. The bed and pillows were soo comfortable and the room lovely and dark,Thanks to good blackout curtains, which helped us in getting the best sleep we had enjoyed since leaving home.

'Property was advertised as "One bedroom suite" which I interpreted to have a separate bedroom, when in fact it was a 1 bedroom studio. Property was advertised as having a sofa, when there was not one. Just 2 chairs which were not the most comfortable.

There is a microwave in the unit and I suggest bringing something basic for tea as once you arrive here you will be disinclined to drive 10-15 mins back into Rangiora for food. Lovely dog was a bonus

Reviewed Dec 1, 2024Super accommodation, fully stocked, extremely clean & very comfy bed & pillows. Quiet picturesque location with surrounding countryside and Llamas! Breakfast was left in the room, cereal, yoghurt, toast & fruit, quite delicious. We had booked anticipating crossing the Arthurs Pass the following day but due to road closures, we re-routed down the coastal road. The location of Ra-ata made this an easy decision. A great stay and would definitely recommend.
