The Residence Hikkaduwa

Heerlijk appartement dat van alle gemakken voorzien is. Heerlijk bed en airco, mooie badkamer met stortdouche. Het kleine zwembad was buiten gebruik maar we mochten lekker bij de buren zwemmen. Erg compleet en goed ontbijt op je terras geserveerd en met 5 minuten ben je bij het strand. Alles is tot in de puntjes geregeld en je kan je tuktuk/ auto op eigen terrein parkeren

Majoituksemme oli ihana! Henkilökunta oli erittäin avuliasta ja kohteliaita. Huoneet olivat isot ja siistit, sekä kauniisti sisustettu. Aamupala oli kattava ja saimme maistella paikallisia herkkuja. Hotelli on rauhallisella alueella ja emme kuulleet mitään melua. Allas oli myös hyvässä kunnossa ja siellä oli ihana uida. Menisimme ehdottomasti uudestaan!

We loved this place - great location! It provides peace & quiet after a long day out. Only two rooms - so you get privacy. Surroundings are quite tranquil and romantic. The pool was very clean and refreshing. It’s a walking distance to the surrounding beaches. You can walk to the main road. Train station is very close - 5min walk, very convenient if you want to take a trip to Galle. Family-run business, the hosts are great, very welcoming. Room was fantastic, spacious, comfy beds, spotless and there were small details such us little flowers placed all around the room - great touch. Breakfast to die for! We stayed 3 nights and had Sri Lankan breakfast each morning - it was never the same, different curies every day. The whole property is very well maintained and so clean! Overall a superb experience and we highly recommend this place.

The hosts were absolutely wonderful. Great communication, very accommodating, always asking to help, very informative. Room was very clean with lots of amenities. Arranged for drivers from the airport and great location near the beach. Lovely breakfast with stunning views from the roof. Definitely would recommend staying here!

Номер просторный, со вкусом оформленный, есть абсолютно все до самых мелких мелочей. Белье белоснежное, чистота идеальная. Горячая вода всегда, напор хороший. Wi-Fi отличный, сбоев не было. Хозяева приветливые, добродушные люди. Всё отзывы о этой вилле правдивы. Если вы любите уют и комфорт, то вам сюда. За время путешествия проживали в шести местах, это было лучшее!

I would have liked to have been told the pool was shut before the visit. I chose the place because of the pool. I know there was an alternative to go next door but would still rather have been able to make my own decision.

Die Gastfreundschaft von Chamara und seines Teams war grossartig! Alles war perfekt, auch der late checkout hat sehr spontan funktioniert. Die Dachterrasse und die Aussicht war aussergewöhnlich toll!

Бассейн и территория утопают в зелени, создавая полное ощущение приватности и покоя. Всё необходимое для жизни есть. О самом главном — о людях: Хозяин виллы, Чамара, и его семья — это душа этого места. С первых минут мы почувствовали не формальное гостеприимство, а искреннюю, почти родственную заботу. · Чамара был всегда на связи, помогал с трансфером, организовал отличную экскурсию на сафари, давал советы по локальным ресторанчикам и выбору фруктов... · По утрам нас кормили очень вкусными аутентичными шри-ланкийскими завтраками. Мы чувствовали себя не как временные арендаторы, а как желанные гости в гостях у хороших друзей. Они были готовы помочь с любой мелочью, но при этом абсолютно ненавязчивы. Итог: Если вы ищете не безликий отель, а аутентичный, душевный и комфортный отдых с личным отношением — это идеальный выбор. Es war ein toller Aufenthalt! Der Host und alle Mitarbeiter dort sind super fürsorglich, hilfsbereit und freundlich. Es bleibt kein Wunsch offen :) Das Frühstück wird jeden morgen frisch serviert und auf die Wünsche der Gäste abgestimmt. Es hat jeden Morgen variiert und war sehr sehr lecker. Die Zimmer sind sehr modern und super ausgestattet und es fehlt an nichts. Der Pool und Außenbereicht ist perfekt zum abkühlen und entspannen. Chamara (der Host) hat super viele Tipps und es können auch individuelle Ausflüge oder Flughafentransfers mit ihm gebucht werden. Ansonsten liegt das Hotel sehr zentral, sodass die Stadt (mit bars, Restaurants und Shops) und der Strand zu Fuß erreichbar sind. Der Turtle beach mit wilden Schildkröten ist ebenfalls nur 10 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt. Eine absolute Empfehlung!

Prachtig verblijf op een uitstekende locatie. Het is verreweg een van onze beste verblijven in Sri Lanka. Zeer schoon, zowel de kamer als het zwembad. Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. De hoteleigenaar was fantastisch en gaf alle antwoorden op onze vragen. Hij gaf heel veel tips voor dingen te doen in de omgeving en heeft ons zelfs gebracht naar Colombo toen er geen ander vervoer beschikbaar bleek. We hebben uiteindelijk zelfs een extra nacht bijgeboekt omdat het zo fijn was bij de accommodatie. Voor het ontbijt heb je de keuze tussen een internationaal of Sri Lankaans ontbijt. Wij hebben het Sri Lankaans ontbijt gekozen, deze was heerlijk. Zeker aan aanrader om hier te verblijven!

숙소가 매우 깨끗하고 관리가 잘 되어 있었습니다. 주인도 친절하고 응대가 빠르며 세심하게 관리해 주셔서 편안하게 지낼 수 있었습니다. 위치가 역과 가까워 이동이 편리했고, 숙소 내 수영장이 있어 휴식하기에도 좋았습니다. 조식과 석식을 신청했는데 음식이 맛있어 따로 외식할 필요가 없을 정도로 만족스러웠습니다.

Les chambres sont modernes, spacieuses et très bien entretenues. L'hôtel est plein de charme avec une piscine à disposition. Les hôtes sont très gentils, l'écoute et toujours prêts à vous aider ou vous recommander les activités dans le coin. Je recommande vivement!

Geweldig verblijf met maar 2 kamers. Over alles is nagedacht en het personeel is ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De beste plek waar we in Sri Lanka zijn verbleven.

Prachtige, grote, propere en luxueuze kamer met airco. Alles is piekfijn in orde! De eigenaars zijn heel vriendelijk en staan altijd klaar om je te helpen. Er is een mooie tuin met zwembad. Het verblijf is op wandelafstand van de stad en het strand.

An extraordinary place to stay. Highly recommend. Would come back without hesitation. Have stayed in accomodation all through Europe, Asia, Australia, NZ and can say this accomodation is easily world class with excellent attention to detail from a very helpful host. Good aircon. Lovely shower. Juice on arrival. Very secure. Would recommend to my friends and would absolutely stay again.

This is by far the best place we have stayed while touring Sri Lanka. It was so clean, well presented, comfortable well equipped with extras. The staff we lovely, the owner friendly and happy to help and guide us on our way. I could have easily stayed longer. The restaurant opposite is run by a lovely kind family who will go the extra mile to accommodate highly recommended you try it out too.

The Residence was the best place we stayed during our travels around Sri Lanka. Chamara and the team really went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable from sorting early check in to sharing restaurant recommendations and transport advice. The room was exceptional, spacious and very modern and the plunge pool/sun deck area was lovely. The team always had a smile on their face which was a plus! The location is excellent, only 5 minute walk from the beach and the main shops/restaurants. And also tucked away off the main road so you manage to have a nice peaceful sleep. Thank you very much Chamara and team! We will definitely be paying another visit.

Very nice place, a best of class hybrid between a boutique hotel and a home stay. Breakfast was a huge spread of delicious local specialties. We had Wood Apple juice and Egg Fruit for the first time- incredible! Highly reccomend. Chamara is very attentive and helpful with transportation and arranging activities around the SW coast or further afield. He transported us to Galle and arranged a Safari that toured Yala and Bundawala in one day!

The reviews do not lie when it comes to this place. Chamara the host really gives your stay a homestay feel, while you have all the luxuries of a hotel. The rooms are spacious, spotless, the property has a pool and rooftop and you also have a private balcony area. Chamara was there for any recommendations and help we needed, including booking us a table at a local restaurant and informing us of train times and operations. He really made us feel at home and gave us everything we needed during our stay. I could not fault our stay and for the price, you'd be crazy not to stay here! 10/10 thank you Chamara

I am sure the Hosts will invest in continuous improvements, that are required in any tropical climate, to tackle mosquitoes, cross-ventilations, bathroom exhausts, dampness!

We feel very fortunate to have secured 2nts last minute availability here at the end of our 2wk trip round Sri Lanka. It was by far the best quality property that we stayed in, with its boutique feel and with the best breakfast too…to top it off it had a lovely little pool and sun bed area. Chamara is a fantastic host. Thankyou for making the last 2nts of our Sri Lanka tour so special.

The property was clean, spacious and airy! We were looked after so nicely and the hosts were fantastic! The location is great and only a short walk from all the nice things the town has to offer!

These hotel have all you need, big and clean room with A/C and TV with english channels, big shower, also small fridge in the room. Is an excellent place for relaxing and having some time enjoying the swimming pool. The owner and the rest of the workers are super kind and they put attention to detail. The breakfast was delicious and a lot of food! Also, we needed a taxi to go to the airport and they booked for us. We enjoyed a lot the experience, it was a pleasure.

We stayed for one night at the beautiful Residents Hotel in Hikkaduwa during our last trip. It was very clean and tidy, with everything you need available in the room. It was furnished like a real 5-star hotel. The room was spacious and harmoniously decorated. The pool area was perfect for relaxing, with great sun loungers to enjoy the sun. The host even stored our luggage for our later departure and allowed us to use his private shower so we could enjoy an extra half day. Additionally, he let us park our tuk-tuk with him so that the tuk-tuk.com company could pick it up, which we really appreciated; not everyone would do that. Best place in Hikkaduwa,rReally recommend and we would like to come back anytime soon. Thanks Chamara

Clean and spacious rooms, close to the beach

Everything was great, literally! I expected much less but it is really like the comments say. Perfectly clean, way cleaner than other hotels. Even clean for German standards and since the owner worked in German hotels for some time, it is supplied with everything one might need, shampoo and shower gel, soap, vanity kit, safe, Minibar, towels, fan etc etc. Also two complementary liters of filtered water. The beds are really comfy and clean too. The pool area ist such a nice place to relax, the staff is very friendly as well as the owner and his family. It is very quiet, 5-10 min walk to the beach in a secure area. Directly in front is a very nice restaurant owned by the neighbors, were we had amazing Pineapple juice and our first curry. The breakfast is done by the staff, we tried Sri Lankan and it was great tea, some fruits and pancakes, rotty and curry, everything very delicious and more than enough to be full after a nice morning swim in the sea. We also liked that they took our low spice tolerance into account. Chamara, the owner, was so nice to drive us to our next destination when we asked and offered a very good price. He asked us what we wanted to see and showed us around some nice places that we would otherwise have missed. He also gave us many useful tips and told us about the history of Sri lanka since it was our first time. We couldn't have found a better stay for our first night. Thank you so much for that and for your hospitality, we would definitely come back and wishing you and your family all the best!

We were return guests from eighteen months ago. We liked it very much and the host is very engaging. We also used them for an airport transfer for a friend which was seamless. The pool is lovely and the rooms luxurious. We like the locations easy walking for food and drinks. Secure parking and we were looked after well. Definitely is a 10!

It is one of two large property close to beaches and shops. This is a busy area but at The Residence you are in a quiet tropical paradise. There is a private pool which was warm and relaxing. The unit was exceptional and every detail thought of. The staff were friendly and made delicious breakfasts of our choice. Either western or Sri Lankan. The owner solved all our issues in getting to the airport. As well, arranged a cooking class and tour around Hikkaduwa. I highly recommend this property.

Quiet and beautiful place to stay in Hikkaduwa. A great plunge pool and the rooms are amazing. Spacious and decorated beautifully. Would 100% go back.

If I had to describe some negatives it is a little far from the main drag of beach bars so we found ourselves walking a lot each evening or getting tuk tuks. However this does means you’re in a quieter part of town so it could be a positive.

Everything was perfect! We had a perfect stay in the beautifull room Chamara made available for us. What makes it so perfect is that is a very private place with a relaxing garden including a nice and refreshing pool! Private on one hand but also close to the buzzing town of Hikkaduwa, the beach and some of the cities best restaurants are a little walk (couple of minutes) away from The Residence. The rooms are really nice, clean and have a luxurious shower, cooling airconditioning a mini bar, perfect bed and even a TV. In front of the room you can chill on a sunbed close to the pool (which you only share with one other room). Chamara is a perfect host, interested and very helpfull with lots of tips an knowledge of the city and the country. He also speaks perfect English! We would highly recommend this spot. It will give you the feeling of a retrait so close to the centre of Hikkaduwa - we would love to come back one day! Regards, Amber and Peter

Immaculate property with a feeling of calm and tranquility. The garden area and pool really pretty and well cared for and the breakfast served on the upper terrace was delightful. The host Chamari was friendly and helpful, he offered visits out and was very interesting and informative.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Residence with Chamara and his family. They were friendly, helpful and easy to contact when necessary. The apartment was very clean and spacious with an efficient air conditioner. The Residence has a nice outdoor area with a pool and lounge chairs. Our breakfast was served on the balcony and was fresh and delicious.

Everything! From our arrival we were welcomed by Chamara and his family. The property is located at the back of his residence within a short walking distance to the beach, main road and shops. Beautiful apartments and setting, and no noise. It was my birthday whilst staying and everyone knew, wishing happy birthday and receiving cake and flowers on the day. Perfect small touches. This is rather an apartment than a room! It is very spacious and super clean! The rooms are located in the inside area of host‘s residence which make is it very quiet, private and relaxing. We had amazing authentic Sri Lankan breakfast on the rooftop every morning. Chamara is a great host with many years of experience and one could see that. He explained us a lot about Sri Lanka and even drove us to a great little restaurant. The staff is very hard working and very nice. The beach is just across the road, which makes it the perfect place to stay. We would definitely go again!

It’s a hidden gem in Hikkaduwa! The owner is a wonderful person who has many years experience in tourism, which made a small heaven in Hikkaduwa. The service is perfect ! The room is perfect in size, design, style, colour selection; all amenities (5star), the bed is extremely comfy, the balcony large and private. The breakfast was the best in Sri Lanka. The property has just 2 rooms and wish everyone to be lucky to stay in the residence Hikkaduwa. It’s very close to train and bus station and very close to beach but no noise at all. Make your stay exceptional in Hikkaduwa and don’t miss to stay in The Residence Hikkaduwa.

This property was truly stunning. We were stunned at how large the room was. The facilities were fantastic, especially the large overhead shower. The outdoor pool was lovely and clean. Breakfast was lovely too and the staff were so friendly and polite. We would definitely recommend this place if you are staying in hikkaduwa!

Chamara and his family are very warm, helpful and always accommodating. We felt very comfortable, safe and in good hands. The Residence Hikkaduwa is located on his private property where he lives with his family. Chamara is always available for questions on site or via WhatsApp. Individual wishes are always asked and fulfilled. The room is beautifully decorated, very clean and you immediately realize that he has experience and knowledge in the hotel industry. It's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax, whether in your room, by the pool or on the rooftop. Breakfast was included and was simply fantastic and prepared with love. Finally we booked transportation to Colombo and Chamara showed us some of the sights. Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. Clean, nice and overall great stay. The Owner was very helpful

The residence has a really communicative and helpful host. He helped us with any problems or hardships we encountered. He even helped us rent a scooter for a really good price. The Building is a few hundred meters from the busy center, thus it has a calm atmosphere, mostly you can only hear some birds. The garden around the house is well organised and clean with many trees giving you much needed shadows. The rooms are really spacious with a huge and comfortable bed. We couldn't find any dust inside, everything was perfectly tidy. I would speculate, that this was our only accommodation in Sri Lanka where we didn't see any mold on the walls. The AC -unit ensures a comfortable atmosphere. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone who plans to stay in this region.

The Residence in Hikkaduwa is an one of a kind accomodation like an oasis in the busy surrounding of Hikkaduwa. We spent four nights there and it was a very good choice for us. The room is spacious, clean and well equipped. You can tell that the owner has extensive experience in the hotel business and uses it skillfully in decorating the premises. Speaking of the owner, Chamara is a very congenial host with whom you can have an excellent conversation. He told us a lot about the country and its inhabitants, which was very informative for us. Thank you for having us, we definitely recommend staying at the Residence Hikkaduwa. Also the breakfast is delicious and it is possible to have your laundry cleaned within 48 hours for a small amount of money which was very helpful for us.

We spent our last two nights in Sri Lanka here. Everything was perfect. The room was huge and super clean. Breakfasts were really great. We had to leave early in the morning to catch our flight and they made us a very great take away breakfast. Everyone was super friendly and made sure that our stay was calm and relaxing. The pool was great too. Highly recommended!

Nice place and staff, would recommend it!

The property is in a great location, and the room is huge and extremely clean. It is well equipped with all the toiletries and a bathrobe and slippers. The shower is separate to the commode which I loved as I hate when the entire washroom gets wet. There is a mini bar in the room and the wifi is great. There is a plunge pool outside and a rooftop area. Not only was the property great, the host Chamara was amazing. From start to finish he picked us up from negombo and took us to hikkaduwa and on the way stopped to show us the turtle hatchery and a herbal garden. He was so helpful very courteous and helped with our Onward travel by providing transportation. He also gave good recommendations inside hikkaduwa and beyond. I would come back here again and again. Thankyou Chamara the residence was the best place I stayed at during my entire trip.

There was nothing to dislike

We had an amazing stay at The Residence Hikkaduwa. The hosts were really friendly and tried to help whenever they could. The breakfast was tasty. The room was clean and tidy. Everything was perfect!

We loved absolutely everything in this accommodation. The boutique hotel is decorated with so much taste as you can’t find in any other place. Super comfortable bed. Silence at night. Big room. Inside is everything the tourist would need. Even the flashlight to walk at night outside. The location is the best you can find in Hikaduwa. Ony 5 min walk from beach, bars, restaurants or shops. Breakfast the best we had in Sri Lanka. Do not miss the green pancakes with coconut and honey. And the owner speaks perfect English. He is a super friendly and you can have a great conversation with him. Hmmm, I forgot to mention the pool with super refreshing and clean watter, place to chill. Or the rooftop for having a drink in the evening. If you are searching for extraordinary place in Hikaduwa, this is The One!

Nothing, everything was perfect.

After a long time, I was able to relax in Hikkaduwa. Here is located in a quiet location, close to the beach and the center. Compared to a 5-star hotel, it is clean and friendly. Beds, furniture, bathroom amenities, etc. are arranged knowing the mind of the traveler, and above all, the attitude of the owner and staff who satisfies the needs of customers is impressive. We were traveling for 3 weeks across Sri Lanka from west to east coast and this place is the only one you would love to stay as long as you can. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. Amazing. The owner goes above and beyond to make sure your stay in Sri Lanka, not just The Residence is memorable. The room is very comfortable with all you need, and the staff stop at nothing to make you feel at home.

The place was very nice, clean, spacious, family owned, so it was very quiet. The location is good if you want to stay away from the beach. They prepared nice take-away breakfast at 6AM, when we left.

The mosquitoes and flies around the pool unfortunately made it difficult to enjoy it.

The staff and location were faultless. Chamara took great care in making sure everything was 5 star . The amazing room was clean, comfortable and spacious. I would highly recommend The Residence to anyone

The stay in The Residence Hikkaduwa was pleasant from the first minute we entered the territory. It was warm welcome with tea and wet towels that was real support after the long way to Sri Lanka. The owner of the villa was very attentive to us. Every morning he visited us during breakfast having a small talk and asking if we need any help. During the daytime he was always easy reachable and gave us some useful hints. Also he provided us a transfer from Colombo airport to the Residence. The price was a bit higher than you can find but for me it’s more reliable when you know that you are met the person from the hotel. The Villa itself is placed in a beautiful calm place. In close walking distances to the ocean, the bus station and the train station. Also not far from the fruit market,shops, banks and cafes. Inside The Residence has only two rooms for guests. It brings extra quietness in the place. Rooms are very spacious, modern and nice decorated. You get everything you need for comfortable stay. I should put extra attention to the excellent breakfasts we were provided at the Villa. They were served on our terrace with a view at the garden. We have chosen SriLanka type of breakfast and it was the peace of art and taste. Special regards and many thanks to the woman who cooked them, Dayomini. What is also important every day of our stay the food was different and we enjoyed it a lot.

Our stay at the villa was unforgettable. Everything was perfect. The villa is surrounded by the very beautiful garden full of flowers and trees. We could enjoy birds singing every morning. The room is lovely and comfortable, it has everything one may need. There's also a large terrace with a nice view. Beauty is in every detail: flowers in the room, nice pictures, food serving. Breakfasts are incredibly delicious and diverse. We selected Sri Lanka breakfast option with lots of fruits and unique local dishes. The location is great, everything is really close: market, ocean, bus station, main street with shops, cafes and banks. The staff is superb - very friendly, generous and careful. They did everything to provide us comfort in every detail. The host picked us from the airport, told us many interesting facts about Sri Lanka and helped us with different things. I am really happy that we selected The Residence Hikkaduwa for our holiday. I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends. Thank you for making our stay heaven-like.

it was my first stay in Sri lanka and so far the best. amazing place, quiet yet central, the host is very welcoming and really taking care of you and your needs, only 2 rooms so it’s almost your personal place which I have to say is super clean and modern. So many small thoughtful things — you get all the robes, shampoos, lotions and well the breakfast is another level. Be sure you will get anything you need. I really recommend this place, search no more!

If you want to have a pleasant and great stay, this is more than a recommendable place. The location is perfect close to the busy streets but located in a quiet street. The staff is more than friendly and it feels like coming home. The rooms are adorable and really big, where you can stay for a longer period if necessary. Next time if we visit Sri Lanka, we will definetly come back !!
