We arrived a little before noon due to an early flight and upon check-in, the manager on duty Mubeen informed us that our room was ready! He was super friendly, always smiling and kindly helped us with making dinner reservations at the restaurant, The Hoi Polloi, on several occasions. That made our stay already amazing from the moment we stepped in. During our 3 nights, everyone we encountered was super friendly and helpful. At the restaurant, The Hoi Polloi, special shout out to Richard, Ethan, Mea and Kyote for the phenomenal service when we dined there for breakfast and dinner on multiple occasions. We had a nice corner room at the end of the hallway so it was always quiet and peaceful. The room was well kept and cleaned by housekeeping. The facilities and amenities were plentiful. Our room had a nice window and view so we had plenty of natural sunlight during the daytime. We would definitely come back and stay at Carnmore Hotel hands-down if we ever return to Christchurch in the future! Thank you again to all the staff for the memorable stay and wonderful experience!
Please be aware that they charge $5 per pair of slippers but luckily we asked early and brought our own pair so that wasn’t a big deal. We didn’t bring any dental kits and when we inquired at the front desk, we were informed they were $2 per kit. We didn’t have a choice so it was what it was but on the website it said free toiletries and usually hotels provide complimentary dental kits but this small detail didn’t tarnish our overall stay and experience at Carnmore Hotel.

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026I enjoyed staying somewhere that I could relax whilst feeling safe, warm and comfortable. The meals in the restaurant were very good and using room service helped when I was tired. Overall this is a great place to stay. I will make it my go too for future visits.
My television wasn't working properly until day 3 when the helpful receptionist came and fixed it for me. On my day of arrival the person on duty didn't fix the problem, so I was left a little confused as to what was available in the hotel. I could have done with the downtime of watching tv as my trip was extremely busy.

They also let me check in early as my room was ready and available when i arrived which I really appreciated as a tired traveller. The floors are wooden though and so was quite cold in winter so come with your socks/fluffly slippers- but overall this is a minor issue

Reviewed Jul 12, 2026The location was great. A 10-15 minute walk to most of the tourist locations in town. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The place was clean and warm. We found the hotel to be peaceful even though our room faced the road.
The floors are lino rather than carpet so I'd recommend to bring slippers in winter!
