The property is an absolute gem. An atmosphere of total peace and warmth. The home, the hosts, the setting, wandering around the gardens, chatting by the fire, the history on the walls in the reception room. Beautifully styled and spotless.

This is not a soulless hotel — it is a real place, with warmth and genuine character, and you feel it in every detail. Jan, Dave, and the Stewart family have created something truly special — a tailored and unforgettable experience. If you need to slow down, breathe deeply, and remember what rest actually feels like — this is your place. We will absolutely be back.

The host was so accommodating and lovely.

We would have loved access to the kitchen but it is a lodge so I understand that there are risks involved with doing that.

The homely feel, the way Jan made us feel at home & the quality of everything. The breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend Hiwinui Estate.

A beautiful residence where we enjoyed the owners hospitality and immense generosity. This is a family estate and farm with many years of history and farming. Owners were warm and open to visitors, giving us an experience to remember forever. From the ducks in the pond to the cows, the romantic rose garden to the outdoor spa and fireplace, candles and the warmest welcome on arrival.

It was peaceful and ritual with good views and the place was better than 5 stars. The hosts are lovely. Facilities are home away from home wonderful.

Jan, the host is so friendly, kind and hospitable. We booked a queen suite but she kindly offered us the tree top apartment. She was so sweet and even provided us complimentary snacks and food. We went during winter and the rooms were very warm and cosy. We got to learn through conversations with Jan the history of her family estate and she also recommended places to eat and go to. The estate itself is beautifully peaceful and calming. If you are an animal lover, you may be lucky to run into two friendly cats Tom and Whiskers, Jack the dog and other friendly animals. We also used the outdoor spa in the evening times. Jan each time lit the outdoor fireplace and candles making the experience so relaxing and magical. I did go with my sister but every feature of the estate is so romantic and peaceful. It was truly a lovely stay and I would definitely stay there again. Thank you Jan and the Stewart Family!

This property was perfect in every way. Beautifully presented, quiet, private, stunning views and friendly welcoming hosts. Continental breakfast had a good variety of fresh bread, cereals, yoghurt and jams.

The location was wonderful and the photos of the property don’t do it justice, as it is very special and beautiful. The opportunity to have a guided tour of the property and the farm was not expected but very much appreciated and enjoyable.

The location is perfect for Palmerston and Fielding, it is a beautiful place to relax and recuperate. The breakfast was delicious with continental having an array of fruits and cereals, they make their own muesli and stewed fruit. Fresh orange juice and croissants 😋 The full breakfast is extra and delicious. Boutique bedrooms and gorgeous lounge.

Everything, wonderful hosts, engaging and interesting. Enjoyed a complementary lovely glass of wine with our hosts and other guests. The history of the property is worth the visit alone. Portrays New Zealand farming at its best. Highly recommend to everyone.

The property was so beautiful me and my husband both loved it and was so excited for our stay!

We were hoping to sit in the lounge area after we had been out for dinner but they had locked the door so we had to go back to our room. We understand why they might do this however would be nice for guests to have areas other than outside to be able to relax other than just the room, this is not a huge issue nor did we feel the need to bring it up just an idea.

Clean, beautiful surroundings, nice hosts, very comfortable, very stylish and everything look quite new. We really enjoyed our stay.

A very lovely secluded country getaway. Very quiet with a lovely view of surrounding farmland. Staff were very friendly and polite and greeted us welcomely upon arrival and anytime they saw us relaxing outside.

Travelled back from Christchurch to Auckland with my daughter who was coming home from Uni. This was a lovely place to stay. Fully appointed with all you could possibly need and such a picture perfect setting its just wonderful. Highly recommend.

We had such a great time here, lovely hosts showed us around the farm and were always happy to share stories about their family farm. Can’t wait for the next stay.

Fabulous hosts in a beautiful home. I recommend you order a platter - it is well worth it - and take in the garden and farm environment.

Absolutely stunning landscape & the hosts were incredibly gracious & welcoming. Comfortable bed, spacious room. I would have loved to explore the property but unfortunately circumstances didn’t allow for that this time.

They were so accomadating with dietary requirements and time-frame we were so happy with staying and will definitely come and stay again.

The breakfast and lunches were wonderful. I was treated very well and found the owners to be fantastic people. It was lovely to talk with Jan.

We loved the remote aspect of the property and the immaculately kept grounds. we stayed in the apartment that was seperate from the main house and it was very private and spotless. Arriving late in the day while touring on motorcycles the owners bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and were extremely accomodating. The outdoor spa area was awesome with the fire lit especially for us was the icing on the cake, very welcome after a day on a motorbike.

Restriction to spa. Felt restricted when there were other stayers. Everything timed and scheduled ahead. No dinners just breakfast and scheduled, not help yourself. No spa bath in room just shower. Tiny fridge, rubbish kettle.
