Reviewed Sep 15, 2026The house is at a perfect location overlooking the valley. The view is even more beautiful in person than in the pictures! Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. There is also a shared kitchen and terrace, as well as a lovely sitting area outside where you can relax and admire the view. The house faces east, so you can enjoy a beautiful sunrise in the morning — definitely a special way to start the day. Overall, it’s absolutely worth the drive, and we really enjoyed our stay!

Reviewed Sep 12, 2026Unser Gastgeber war aus familiären Gründen nicht vor Ort. Unsere Bewertung betrifft daher ausschließlich unsere Unterkunft und den gebuchten Service. Das wir gerne Grillen und Winetasting gehabt hätten wird nicht beurteilt. Es ist eine komfortable Unterkunft mit einem einzigartigen Blick. So morgens aufwachen grandios. Check in und out sowie das Frühstück waren als Ausweich auf einer benachbarten Quinta organisiert und lecker. Auch eine wunderbare Ruhe konnten wir genießen, als wir 1 1/2 Tage allein die Unterkunft bewohnt haben. Wir empfanden dies als Vertrauensbeweis und wir sind froh, das unser Aufenthalt nicht storniert wurde.
Aus dem Grund, das unser Gastgeber nicht vor Ort sein konnte ergaben sich natürlich organisatorische Mängel, deren Beiseitigung von den Nachbarn sofort erledigt wurde. Für uns wäre es sicher hilfreich gewesen, wenn wir vorab eine Benachrichtigung erhalten hätten. Dann wäre uns am Anreitetag viel Fahrerei erspart geblieben .

Reviewed Sep 5, 2026O hotel é um conto de fadas. O Martten foi um anfitrião excecpional que fez com que nos sentissemos em casa. Acompanhá-lo fazendo a vendemia foi um dos pontos altos da viagem. A vista do quarto é simplesmente fabulosa. Café da manhã de cinema. Super recomendo!!!

Reviewed Sep 5, 2026The stay here with Marteen was definitely a peak experience of our 12 day Portugal road trip. Marteen is an exceptional host, and we were truly impressed with how he was able to run this whole operation pretty much solo. The house itself took 10 years to build, and you can tell Marteen is a man of taste, and don’t even get me started on the view and the double rainbows we were blessed with after the rain!
We had difficulty finding the property and got lost following the gps for quite awhile before Marteen came to the rescue. Search for Luyt Winery on Google Maps if you’re having trouble finding the place.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026Amazing views from every cot. Very attentive and fun host- Martin, makes the difference. Very clean and well kept. Martin served us the house wine for welcome and it’s superb.
A bit far from any town so you must arrive by car. Curtains in the room won’t cover the sun when rising so prepare to wake up early. Besides that it’s a great place to relax after a long day’s tour in Douro area.

Reviewed Aug 30, 2026Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und waren sehr beeindruckt von dem grandiosen Ausblick in's Douro Tal. Das Haus hat eine sensationelle Lage. Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig, sauber und mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Besonders genossen haben wir den ausgezeichneten Wein unseres Gastgebers und das Babecue. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an Maarten!
Es gibt nichts zu kritisieren! Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit und haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt!

Falta limpieza en el baño y especial habitación, mucha mota (polvo) debajo de la cama. Un olor peculiar en el salón.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2026Really a unique location and concept. It all starts with a beautiful place with clean en comfortable rooms. The absolute stellar view each room completes it. The host makes it unique. A Dutch wine maker with an inspiring life story which he obviously loves to tell to its visitors. We are a family of 6. Two adults and kids ranging from 11 to 17. They all loved the place. We were in a fortunate and unique situation that harvest came unexpectedly early. Our host friendly “probed” whether we were in to help him out to harvest the grapes. Off course this was met with great enthusiasm and we found ourselves picking grapes like true professionals! The concept. The host. The barbecue. The attention with which everything was done it all makes it an amazing place to spend some time.

Reviewed Aug 14, 2026Quinta de Alaude ist ein Traum! Die Lage ist so schön, hoch über dem Douro. Die Anfahrt war zwar etwas spannend, aber mit Hilfe von Google Maps etc. völlig machbar. Unser Zimmer war super, das Bett total gemütlich. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und liebevoll zusammengestellt. Was die Unterkunft herausragend macht ist definitiv der Gastgeber, Maarten. Seine warmherzige und natürliche Art begeistert einfach. Wir hatten eine wundervolle Zeit dort, leider waren es nur zwei Nächte.

Maarten is een geweldige gastheer, die altijd voor je klaar staat en zijn uiterste best doet om je een heerlijk verblijf te geven; met goede tips en mooie verhalen. Vergeet niet zijn heerlijke wijnen en olijfolie te proeven.

Reviewed Jul 23, 2026Maarten clearly was a highlight. A great exchange of cultures, understanding the differences, starting from scratch in a new country. He was also unabashed about sharing his lessons and his winemaking journey. We learnt a great deal from him. His property was very clean and homely, it was also quiet and comfortable, with incredible views of the Douro river. Possibly the best views we have had in our entire trip to Portugal. It was a postcard view from the bed, and our barbecue was looking right into that postcard sunset.

Przepiękna część wspólna, w tym otwarte patio gdzie serwowane są śniadania. Projekt i działo Martina, przemiłego gospodarza, z ciekawą historią życia, gwarantujący domową atmosferę przy przygotowywanych przez siebie posiłkach oraz winach i oliwie własnej produkcji. The stay was absolutely lovely, including the group breakfast and optional bbq. The drive up to the property became one of our favourite parts as well. Reviewed Jun 28, 2026Very special hospitality at a unique location, overlooking the magnificent mountains and the Duoro river. All rooms have glass wall to the view. The hospitality by Maarten feels like visiting a good friend at his villa.
The location is up the mountain in a rural area so the first time you drive there feels far and remote from the valley (where Pinao village is located). For the first time, recommend to arrive before darkness and look for the name LUYT written at the entrance.

Mitten in den Weinbergen, mit einem fantastischen Blick ins das Douro-Tal. Eine Wohltat für alle Sinne. Wir waren drei Tage hier und haben Maartens Gastfreundschaft, das köstliche Frühstück, das Barbeque, eine Weinprobe, unser schönes Zimmer, die Umgebung - einfach alles - sehr genossen. Einzigartig ist die Architektur des Hauses, die es ermöglicht, dass man aus allen Zimmern einen unfassbar schönen Blick auf das Tal hat. Es war einfach wundervoll!

The property is magically perched on top of a hill and vineyards all around the whole glass wall is a picterusque view of meandering Duoro River and steep hills with vineyard

De kamers zijn prachtig en het uitzicht op de Douro is werkelijk fantastisch, elke ochtend weer genieten. De locatie is ideaal: midden in het hart van de Douro-regio en op slechts 30 minuten rijden van het pittoreske Pinhão. Maarten zelf is ook echt een topper; hij geeft met veel passie en enthousiasme tips over wat er te doen en te zien is in de omgeving. Absolute aanrader voor iedereen die de Douro-regio wil ontdekken!

The bathroom is really poorly designed, no shower box. The entire space is poorly kept. Very poor breakfast - stale bread, no warm milk, not enough variety. Everything is just poorly served. The host doesn’t speak Portuguese, that makes communication difficult.

Reviewed Jun 8, 2026Beautiful property with excellent views in a very quiet location surrounded by vineyards. Maarten was a very welcoming host and made us feel at home and even cooked for us on the first night, food and wine were excellent. Free parking on the property.
The secluded location was a big bonus for us, as we prefer walking in nature and enjoying the views, but might be somewhat of a drawback if you want to be in the centre and close to restaurants and all. The bedroom furniture was rather cheap but the views makes up for everything.

The drive to the vineyard is along very thin roads, so not good if you are a nervous driver/passenger. It is safe and not a problem but not good for nervous people.

Some roadworks made us detour one day that was disappointing a bit of time out of our day but other than that the regular road brings you in quickly. Do you need to go slow and follow signs?

Reviewed Oct 21, 2025The house is very clean and cozy, and the view is absolutely top-notch. The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. We were warmly welcomed with drinks and a lovely chat in the living room, right in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the magnificent Douro River. Coincidentally, it was the Moon Festival during our stay, and we told the owner about our tradition of having a BBQ with friends and family back home. That evening, we enjoyed a wonderful BBQ dinner together — the food was exceptional, and of course, so were the wines! The next morning, the owner prepared a gorgeous breakfast for us as well. After check-out, one of our tires unfortunately broke on the way to town. We called the owner for help, and he calmly told us to park the car by the road, go ahead with our river cruise, and that he would wait for us at a café afterward. It was about a 30-minute drive for him, and he was so generous to help us. He spent several more hours assisting us — removing the broken tire, driving us to another town to replace it, and then bringing us back to reinstall it. Honestly, what could have been a stressful incident turned into one of the most remarkable moments of our trip. When traveling, it’s not just about the sights, food, or attractions — it’s also about the people you meet along the way. Reviewed Oct 10, 2025Annorlunda med mycket vackert läge. Mycket trevligt mottagande av ägaren och vi fick lära oss mycket. Vi kunde dessutom lägga till så vi fick en barbecuemiddag på kvällen ute, så vackert och trevligt att prata med lite andra gäster. Skön säng.
Ingen stor sak men saknade egen uteplats till rummet.

Reviewed Oct 5, 2025Beautiful view, Breakfast, comfy bed. Host lives on site and was friendly. He shared a glass of wine with us upon arrival after our nighttime drive around the curvy roads! Much appreciated. Unless you are used to it, I recommend driving there in daylight. Its a long way from town so dine before arriving. Room has its own fridge.
There is a communal kitchen and lounge area which is a nice way to meet other guests. We happened to have the room that opens onto this area so it could get noisier. Beautiful big picture windows to see the view.

Reviewed Sep 12, 2025La ubicación del Bed and Breakfast inmejorable ! Con unas vistas espectaculares desde el estar y desde la habitación hacia los viñedos y el río Duero . Marteen nos recibió con mucho cariño Nos sentimos como en casa , muy rico desayuno y el vino con el cual nos convidó . Como era mi cumpleaños Marteen nos regaló una botella de su vino para festejar Un detalle muy especial! Sin duda lo recomendamos especialmente para aquellos amantes de la naturaleza y la tranquilidad . La estadía allí entre los viñedos con esas vistas impactantes vale la pena !!
