Espectacular en todos los sentidos. Vistas de infarto de día y noche. Un enclave, decoración, mantenimiento, servicio y desayuno excepcional. Quedé enamorada de la piscina infinity, el huerto, las parras, la terraza para cenar y la sala de desayuno, además de nuestra habitación que hacía esquina y por tanto tenía dos ventanas desde donde contemplar el atardecer, aparte de un baño precioso con crema que olía maravillosamente, velitas y todo tipo de detalles. Antes de llegar te mandan todo tipo de información para llegar, hacer una degustación y/o reservar la cena allí mismo.

La cena no nos gustó mucho. El servicio excelente pero, sabiendo que el cabrito venía con arroz especiado y al horno (queda algo seco y no tenía mucha chicha), habríamos pedido otra cosa. Nos imaginamos algo más jugoso, error nuestro no preguntar. Los vinos tanto en la cena como para comprar no son baratos pero son acordes al nivel de excelencia que ofrece la Quinta.

O acolhimento. Conheço imensas quintas no Douro porque adora a zona e confesso que fiquei bastante desiludida com a recepção, sem grande atenção ao cliente. Após a reserva da estadia, recebi um e-mail de boas vindas, com todas as indicações sobre o trajeto até à quinta e sobre o jantar, o que me deixou logo com boas expectativas em relação ao serviço. Infelizmente não coincidiu. Reservei 2 jantares de 45€ cada um, onde informavam que seria servido por staff entendido em vinhos e que nos aconselharia na aromatização do nosso prato e nada disso aconteceu. Foi/nos apresentada uma carta de vinhos e não houve qualquer envolvimento ou vontade de nos ajudar nesse sentido. No e-mail falava também, que o valor de 45€ incluía uma salada ou sopa, mas em algum momento nos questionam qual dos dois pretendíamos. O prato principal, embora gostoso, foi-nos servido morno. Teria sabido bem melhor provavelmente no restaurante. Já tínhamos comido no restaurante e gostamos imenso e não teríamos gasto este valor. Quanto à sobremesa, uma fatia de bolo, no prato. Embora gostoso, a forma como é servido, faz parte da experiência. Para terminar, questionamos se havia possibilidade em fazer late check out, ao que nos responderam que a hora de deixar o quarto era às 12h mas que podíamos permanecer na quinta por mais algum tempo, pois precisavam de limpar o quarto. Como chegamos no sábado à meio da tarde, esperávamos poder ficar mais um pouco, mas obviamente compreendemos. Mas sinceramente não é o que se diz, mas a forma como se diz. Apesar do sr não ter sido nunca mal educado, de facto simpatia ou atenção ao cliente, foi coisa que não sentimos. No dia seguinte ao pequeno-almoço, encontramos um jovem bem mais simpático, que nos facultou o late check out, sem dificuldade e recebeu-nos de forma bem mais acolhedora. No final, confesso que o valor que paguei, não coincidiu com o serviço, pois tenho encontrado bem melhor na zona.

The location is incredible! The property was well maintained and comfortable. We really enjoyed the boutique concept. with only 4 rooms, it felt exclusive (almost like our own vineyard).

Wifi was spotty. This was exacerbated by no televisions on the property. Normally this would not bother us (in fact this would be a bonus), but we were unable to watch the World Cup finals.

The location is dreamy - absolutely stunning. The staff are fantastic and we felt really looked after.

The food served in the evening did not meet our expectation. We have visited Douro in the past and have had exceptional meals. We were aware that the venue does not have a restaurant but chose to dine there both evenings as the advertised partnership with a local restaurant sounded promising. Both evenings the food felt really dry and left us feeling disappointed. I would go back and stay there again but avoid the evening meals.

Our first night after a long drive we had ordered the evening meal service, this turned out to be very disappointing with cold meals which were supposed to be hot, expensive for what we had. This was not just us the couple sitting on the same table ordered cod in bread, they hardly ate any as was unappetising far too salty and full of bone. We all came away with just eating the salad and cake. The road up to the property from Pinhao are not good condition and when you you turn off on the single track 6km to the property they turn truly atrocious with broken up road, pot holes and is basically unmade, this may be fine if driving a 4x4 or you don’t care about your hire car, but for anyone with their own car especially if it’s low or expensive this track turns into a daily nightmare as you have to go out and there is nothing anywhere near.

Apenas 4 quartos, o que proporciona uma sensação de exclusividade na hospitalidade. Beleza, vistas e um vinho extraordinário, tudo num ambiente de silêncio, apenas interrompido pelo canto dos pássaros.

Difficult to find

This little gem is in the absolute best spot in the valley, in the middle of nowhere surrounded by amazing views! The house w/infinity pool view and small staff are amazingly friendly helpful and knowledgeable! The quality of food and, of course, the wine and port are top notch! We came on our bikes and they offered(helped it with) a car ride a/our bikes and luggage back up the hill when we left!

There is not a thing we didn’t like!

At Quinta da Gricha, I stayed with a group of friends and it was an absolutely exceptional experience. The accommodation offers only four rooms, and since we occupied three of them, we practically had the whole place to ourselves, which created a wonderfully private and relaxed atmosphere. The care and hospitality we received from Guilherme were unlike anything we’ve experienced anywhere else. He was incredibly welcoming and genuine, and throughout our stay we felt as if he was one of us, not just a host. And the views? They are simply indescribable — breathtaking from every corner of the property. I’ll just repeat myself: PERFECTION!!! 👌

My wife and I had a fantastic stay here for 3 nights. If you are put off by the reviews mentioning the remoteness of the property. Don’t be, it is a wonderful experience. Guilherme and Telemo will make you feel right at home. And the view….photos cannot do it justice. Both Guilherme and Telemo provide wonderful wine tasting. They are very knowledgeable about the local wines and the area. Also great effort as a concierge getting other restaurant reservations for us. Pros Very clean Beautiful property Great breakfast Great hosts and servers Great communication including English. Very friendly and knowledgeable about area and wine Cons None. PS. If hiring a car I would recommend Apple Car Play and automatic transmission.

The location among the rolling hills of the Douro, overlooking the river is magical. Very private with only 4 rooms and 8 maximum guests. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating, they met our every need. Common areas are beautiful, especially the terrace. Rooms are large and comfortable, the food delicious.

A bit off the beaten track but well worth the extra twists and turns.

O lugar é incrível, a vista de tirar o fôlego e a equipe faz com que a gente se sinta em casa. A vista dos quartos para o Douro faz com que o tempo passe devagar e valha cada segundo e as áreas comuns parecem nossa casa, dada a simpatia da equipe e a forma como o hotel se organiza. O honest bar também é um convite a provar um pouco mais da região com liberdade e no seu tempo. Voltarei com toda certeza!

O café da manhã tinha pouca opção de frutas e só um tipo de queijo. No mais, uma delícia.

This place was unreal! It exceeded our expectations. The staff were so friendly, relaxed and accommodating. The wine tour and food we had was amazing. It truly is an amazing experience. A real vinyard that offers an full authentic traditional experience. The rooms were very spacious and nice with amazing views of the Douro River. The grounds that surround are picturesque with so many perfect locations for pictures. It was a beautiful place to visit. Quite and peaceful, fully relaxing with the sun.

Absolute paradise!!!! Once you brave the winding roads to get to the property, you are rewarded with the most stunningly beautiful backdrop that looks like it is straight out of a Hollywood movie. The patio overlooking the vineyard and The Douro Valley River are simply breathtaking, the perfect location for a Port & Wine tasting!!! We decided to partake in the Day at Quinta da Gricha activity option, which I would highly recommend! This included a delicious traditional Portuguese lunch, Port & Wine tasting, & a guided tour though the vineyard!!! The Staff & Tour Guide Guymon (please forgive me if the spelling is incorrect) was exceptional in every way! He instantly relieved our stress from the drive & provided us with kindness, Knowledge of the vineyard, the history of the Douro Valley, and a short explaination of how Port & Wine are made & processed. I would highly recommend this property, but the staff is what truly make it beyond compare

The drive was nerve wrecking and difficult to find.

A hotel that feels like a home, only four rooms, very nice and personal service. We arrived soak wet and cold after a bike trip. Staff proactively asked us whether we would want them to wash and dry our clothes without charge. They later lit the fire for us as the only guests. Food served in a nice “living room setting”. Staff makes you feel at home. Location is magic.

Excelente poder percorrer o caminho entre as vinhas até à Quinta. Percuso fabuloso entra as quintas e vinhedos, com o Douro sempre prsente na magnifica paisagem. O conceito muito bom, os funcionários são de excelente nível, ficámos encantados com o profissionalismo, serviço e simpatia. A casa, a vista, excelentes dias num local edilico e um ambiente repousante.

The elegance and privacy

We had a wonderful stay. The views you have from the Douro river are stunning. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was good and the dinner options they offered were also excellent. Finally, and most important, the wines produced there are really good.

Vista magnífica, em ambiente rural no alto do morro com vista do quarto para as montanhas e o rio Douro. Silêncio, excelentes vinhos à disposição dos hóspedes, em antiga casa de fazenda com instalações modernizadas, mas preservando a autenticidade.. Próximo de tudo, mas numa Quinta no meio dos parreirais. O quarto de alto padrão, muito confortavel. A hospitalidade foi um capítulo à parte. Todos extremamente atenciosos,ótimo café da manhã.Tivemos uma aula magna sobre os vinhos "tranquilos" e portos, bebendo, beliscando e batendo papo. Sensacional.

This was amazing!! Our best stay in Portugal. Loved it. Make sure you do a tour, taste the port and have the dinner option. Breakfast was yummy too. Walking around the vines was great. We ended up taking with all the other guests having a glass of wine. So great!

The Quinta da Gricha is beautifully appointed, set it the Douro Valley, with helpful staff, delicious food and wine! They exceeded expectations!

Driving there was no problem for my husband, but with narrow roads, few to no guardrails, and lots of switchbacks, I was quite anxious. By the time we left, my fear of heights was (nearly) forgotten as the views are truly spectacular!! Totally worth it!

Incredible views of the Douro Valley. Beautifully furnished rooms. It was great to relax by the pool. Dinner was delicious.

The entry road requires some concentration - just take it slow around the corners incase a car is coming the other way. We managed it in a hatchback rental car. Try to avoid arriving at night as it gets quite dark on the road.

Apesar de ser longe - de tudo - tem uma paisagem fantástica. Para descansar é um ótimo local. O Guilherme, funcionário, é de uma simpatia a toda à prova. A piscina e os vinhos tornam a estadia ainda melhor ;)

Deixei uma mensagem a reservar jantar, quando cheguei ao local disseram-me que apesar de ter reservado o jantar não tinha respondido às mensagens do booking a perguntar quais os pratos que desejava. Como não o tinha feito já não podia jantar e o restaurante mais próximo ficava a 30 minutos de carro (isto numa estrada de terra sem grande luz). Disse que poderiam ter tido o cuidado de me ligar, ou mandar uma mensagem por telemóvel, a alertar para o facto de ter que escolher um prato com 24 horas de antecedência. O rapaz da receção olhou para mim e nada disse, como quem diz isso é um problema teu não meu. Felizmente o Guilherme, posteriomente, demonstrou como se recebem pessoas (com a simpatia e o calor do norte) e o mau estar passou.

An absolutely stunning location. The staff were incredible. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. Staying here was the highlight of our trip. We loved everything about it. Will definitely be back one day.

The drive down is a bit scary but when you arrive it is absolutely worth it.

Very special boutique accommodation. Quite VIP level from my perspective. We enjoyed our time there very much. Don’t miss the winery guided tour and the testing. This experience will stay with you after you get back home

The view and the house decoration

The road accesses are awful. The community kitchen where you can grab anything whenever you like make sense but at least water should be available at the room. It doesn't make sense to have to leave your room in a middle of the time to get water. The breakfast is very basic: only one juice, one yogurt flavour, only croissant as pastry, only scramble egg as hot food, if you want an expresso it's only available on a different room, only one type of cheese. 260€ a night it's completly overprice.

Situated at the end of a beaten track, literally, you feel a sense of peace and calmness at this Quinta. Beautifully decorated throughout with large spacious rooms it’s really a home from home. And you are encouraged to treat it as so. The staff are super friendly and we enjoyed learning about the history of the property and of course tasting their ports and still wines. The views from every window and the large terrace are simply breathtaking. We enjoyed relaxing by the infinity pool and drinking in the views. I was possibly interested in booking it exclusively for two nights for my 60th birthday next year and Guilherme was really helpful in suggesting local activities and trips we could incorporate into our schedule and ideas for meals as there is no restaurant on site. I’m pleased to say I’ve gone ahead with the booking and can’t wait to relax and celebrate there with my girlfriends next year.

Not really a negative but with no restaurant you need to give some thought to meals particularly dinner. You can preorder from a nearby restaurant which is quite famous but the food is quite rustic which may not be to everyone’s tastes. However the staff will willingly offer alternatives if you contact them in advance.

Breakfast was very good lovely fresh fruit ,just would have liked some yogurt.
