We loved everything about Poya villa - the location, the rooms, the amazing gardens and pool right on the beach. The style of the villa was lovely, really calming and relaxing. The breakfast was delicious and always very fresh. We’d absolutely recommend to any travellers. Such a special place right on Kabalana beach. The staff were so friendly and helpful too. Thank you so much for the perfect end to our time in Sri Lanka.

The room wasn’t very clean. A part of the door to the toilet was missing. The furniture is really worn-out. The chair on the balcony was broken. We stayed for 3 nights, nobody cleaned our room and nobody even took out the rubbish from our room. The breakfast was VERY small and the manager tried to convince us that the breakfast wasn’t included in the price we paid (more than 200 euros per night!) and it’s a gift. The could’ve given us at least 2 eggs we asked for! That’s ridiculous!

Everything! Superb location, on a beautiful beach, which you can walk and swim in. Poya is delightful with superb kind and happy staff - we loved it!

Superbe hôtel très calme avec 4 chambres. L’hôtel est situe sur la plage à l’écart du bruit. On accès à pieds très facilement aux restaurants et au centre ville. Petit déjeuner différent tous les jours.

Je suis sans gluten, plus compliqué de faire comprendre où il se situe. Ça serait chouette d’avoir une option pour le petit déjeuner.

Probablement le plus bel établissement visité au Sri Lanka ! Magnifique villa avec un nombre de chambres très limités, un personnel disponible et adorables (ils m’ont même aidé à trouver l’adresse pour acheter le porte clé éléphant de la clé de la chambre !!). C’était incroyable, la vue sur la plage et la mer (où on peut se baigner) est tout simplement splendide !! La piscine est un vrai plus !

Attentive, warm and kind staff including the couple who run the villa. One of the best breakfasts we had on our trip, authentic Sri Lankan string hoppers! A beautifully maintained and peaceful room on the beach.

We had an amazing stay at Poya Villa Ahangama. The location is perfect right on the beautiful Kabalana Beach, just a 5-minute walk to the Sticks surf spot and about 10 minutes to Marshmallows. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The property is very well maintained, and the rooms were cleaned daily. Every morning we were served a different, delicious Sri Lankan breakfast <3 definitely a highlight! The villa is slightly outside the busy center of Ahangama, which makes it nice and peaceful, yet there are several cool and great restaurants within easy walking distance. Overall: A perfect mix of beachfront location, relaxation, comfort, and warm local hospitality. Highly recommended!

Beachfront made for spectacular sunsets

Beautiful villa overlooking the beach, with a private pool and private beach access. Very friendly staff, great rooms and amazing breakfast as well. Just outside the busy part of town, but close enough to be a 10 minute walk away.

Sharing my recent and most fabulous stay experience at Poya Villa in Ahangama with my 5 year old son. The staff at the hotel Rasika, Ishira,Charith are true gems and have tended to so many of our requests all through from Breakfast and until late evening with a smile and a can do approach! The property and rooms are well maintained despite it being so close to the ocean. We are regulars at Ahangama, visit a couple of times each year and will surely be coming back!

Beautiful villa with direct beach access and friendly staff. A good breakfast with drinks and snacks optional throughout the day. 5 minute tuktuk into Ahangama town but also really close to excellent restaurants like Citra and Society.

The room was only cleaned once during our 6 night stay, although it was advertised as being cleaned daily. It would be good to take the daily service off the room card to avoid confusion.

Amazing staff!

It was the only property we stayed in in a month where we paid on arrival. We were not aware of this and it was a little awkward, if we had been told before it would have been better. Everywhere else we stayed we paid on departure. They have credit card details on file so there is no risk to the owner.

Located on an amazing corner on the beach near a very nice spot of surfing. The whole strip is walkable and full of café, the stuff behaves like a family and take cares of the guest in an amazing way

The location was AMAZING!!! Right at the beach. We enjoyed it a lot. The staff was also soooo kind and lovely and would go above and beyond.

We have travelled and travel a lot. For this price per night, especially in Asia, I know I can expect a lot. Unfortunately I wouldn’t say this place lives up to the price. It is cosy but pretty basic. The room is very humid, full of mosquitoes, no mosquito net, no proper curtains and very basic breakfast. Don’t get me wrong, we enjoyed our time here! But price/quality is not right.

Ideal location at the end of the beach - quiet but with easy access to the beach. Beautiful pool and plenty of sun loungers. The staff were exceptional and really looked after us. The property was immaculately clean. Breakfast was varied each day and always delicious. The rooms were clean and the bathroom looked brand new.

The bed wasn’t too comfortable and I didn’t get the best sleep.

Had a great stay at the Poya villa. The location was amazing, with a great design and comfortable spaces room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Hope to visit again soon.

The setting, the nature , the comfort, the staff. Great place to kick back and relax but a bit remote unless you like surfing. A few nice eateries but a busy main road, Tuk Tuk man very nice and reasonable prices.

When you go through the gate onto the beach , don’t whatever you do enter the water at the point . I made that silly mistake and it nearly cost me my life. There is a rip tide at that point to the right of the coral and a sign should be put on the gate . Walk down 100m either side and you’ll be fine , please put up a sign for future guests . I only just made it out and I swim a mile a day in the pool, can’t explain how quickly I tired and panic set in, very scary.

Great staff, views, close to the beach, and some excellent restaurant options nearby. Simple but quite a nice breakfast made fresh every morning. Spacious rooms with modern bathrooms. Fastest cloth washing service in Sri Lanka!

There were quite a lot of ants in the bathroom and at one time a cockroach fell from the ceiling/roof onto my bed. I wasn't too startled about it but the hotel definitely should replace the seams in the bathroom and try to plug any holes in the ceiling/roof. I couldn't pay with a card. An option for PayPal was provided but that didn't work out for me due to 'technical reasons' which meant that I had to pay in cash. Luckily, I took €1000 in cash with me from the EU and had multiple cards to withdraw money with since foreigners have a daily withdrawal limit of 100k LKR per card. So, be prepared.

Amazing location. Perfect for popping down to the beach for a surf and the best cafe with the best view in all Weligama upstairs! A fantastic place for breakfast and great cocktails and to watch the sunset. Extremely friendly and helpful staff too.

We recently stay at Poya Villa, from the moment we arrived when Rasika the caretaker, ushered us to our beautiful pre-chilled room overlooking the beautiful Kabalana beach … we were in heaven. Flanked by some very expensive hotels, Poya offers a million dollar view without the million dollar price. Our room and ensuite were spacious and well appointed and the property is well maintained by the owners. Breakfast of fresh fruit and toast was delightful, presented whenever we returned from our morning surf. The pogola overlooking the beach became our base through the day providing endless entertainment watching the beginner surfers and their spectacular crashes. The chlorine free pool was enjoyable to relax in and the many sun loungers also provided opportunities for great sunset vistas. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Poya Villa, on the quiet end of the Kabalana beach. If you are wishing to avoid the loud, busy, selfie instagramers at the northern end of the beach then we highly recommend Poya Villa.

Great location, few seconds to the ocean. White sand beach which is not crowded. Clean and beautiful territory, stylish rooms. Fresh fruits and toasts for breakfast, tea, coffee and water always available

The staff are so welcoming and available if needed. Rashika was especially attentive and helpful. The situation of the villa is amazing, with direct access to surfing/beach and the grounds have chill out spots with loungers and easy chairs. Also very convenient for restaurants and cafes for lunches and suppers. Coffee and tea available all day and a Nespresso machine which we appreciated. Would definitely return.

Payment is in cash, either dollars or rupees, which we forgot so had to scramble to get the cash at the last minute. Minor quibble was no hairdryer or body lotion in the rooms, and breakfast was delicious, pastries and fruits, but no cooked or savory option.

Poya Villa is a very well kept, serene and beautiful property at the south-end of Kabalana beach. The villa has only 4 rooms making it a very cozy and quiet home-like haven. The villa has a big garden with a NEW pool, sun loungers and a kabbana which is THE PERFECT spot to have breakfast, watch the surfers and enjoy the sunset. There are multiple cafes/restaurants within a short walking distance/tuktuk ride so it was easy to catch lunch/dinner. The Kabalana beach itself is super clean and is suitable for beginner/intermediate surfers. The property employees Rasika & Dilmi are the most wonderful and kind people who made us feel very warmly welcome. And last but definitely not the least, the property manager Samia made us feel like Poya and Ahangama was truly our home away from home. Luck to have met you and we’ll be back. We loved everything at Poya. <3

It was raining inside the room, they didn’t made the beds or cleaned between days, the staff doesn’t understand english, there was no coffee (when they told us we had - we’ve asked before), trouble with payment due to their “always way of paying by cash” but no note nor warning when we made the reservation
