it was excellent experience for us. The room was very clean and hotel staff was very polite and helpful. We were also impressed by their breakfast and dinner. Their chef is doing great job and to be honest our expectation was not high in the beginning but all of these things changed our thoughts and we left hotel very happy.

Lunch options are limited which is not an issue if you’re only staying for 1-2 nights.

Everything was exceptional from the minute we walked in. The staff were great, the room clean and spacious and everything in between. We realised the ports were American and called reception and they straight away brought us an adaptor. There was also a turn down service which is not something we had experienced before, water topped up, bed made again, chocolates… could not fault this place at all

This is not an issue with the property, but if you book through booking.com the price will be substantially more than advertised once government taxes are added on and charged when you arrive

I had such an amazing stay at Mosvold Villa, genuinely one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Everything from the rooms to the food to the overall atmosphere was 10/10, but what really made it special was the staff. Everyone was so kind, welcoming and genuinely attentive, and they went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed throughout my stay. The room itself is beautiful and so peaceful, with some of the best views of the beach, and it’s the perfect place to relax and switch off. The food was also incredible. I looked forward to every meal. You can really feel the care and thought that goes into everything here, and it made such a difference to my trip. I’m genuinely sad to be leaving and would 100% come back. Thank you so much to the whole team for such a lovely stay 🤍

There’s nothing we didn’t like about the stay although having some more options on the menu would be good for dinner. If you’re staying more than a few days. Also the price of the massage was quite expensive and we would’ve liked to have more of them as the staff there are incredible.

Beautiful beachfront property with a calm, luxurious vibe. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-designed with lovely ocean views. Direct beach access was a big highlight. Staff were polite and attentive, making the stay very comfortable. Breakfast was also good with nice vegetarian options. Overall, a relaxing and premium stay.

This hotel is absolutely incredible, the best we stayed in across our travels in Sri Lanka. I can’t praise it enough. It is a very luxury boutique hotel but completely worth the cost, and in my view good value for money (compared to what some other less impressive places cost). The rooms are big and lovely, modern. Very clean. Beds so comfy. The views from the balconies - which go all across the front of the villa - are gorgeous. In fact, the views from the entire property are amazing. The pool is very good - big and clean. The sunbeds are super comfortable, well maintained, with mattresses and cushions - all clean. The beach is beautiful. You will see some amazing sunrises and sunsets from this side. The grounds of the villa are kept perfect. The koi carp pool is amazing - you can watch them forever! The food was exquisite - the breakfasts are cooked to order which is special and very different to the buffet style of other places - there was good choice and it was delicious. The restaurant food was great, we especially loved the sushi and sashimi it was outstanding. Had a massage at the spa, 10/10 very impressive Service across the board absolutely excellent The turn down service was really lovely with delicious snacks left and the room properly prepared. Everything at Mosvold Villa generally just feels very special and thought about carefully. Many small touches to appreciate. It’s a great location and the noise from the road simply cannot be heard when you are in the villa, it also can’t be heard when you are in the bedrooms as they have internal doors blocking any sound. You feel totally secluded at Mosvold Villa You MUST stay here - you won’t regret.

The beach, the rooms were amazing!

The property was gorgeous and was way nicer than the pictures let on. The staff were amazing and we especially liked the complementary oceanside. The property is right on kabalana beach which has tons of surf schools for lessons and is a short walk or tuk tuk to the main town.

The rooms were a little dark but the view from the balcony was incredible.

The fabulous location right on the beach, the quality of the breakfast, especially the fruit platters, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Special mention to the ladies in the spa, because the massages we had were first class. Reliable WiFi too. There were also a number of places a Tuk Tuk ride away for eating out if you wanted to.

We thought that the wine selection was overpriced, even given that it’s imported.

Mosvold is absolutely stunning. The rooms are spacious, clean and wonderfully decorated. The views from the rooms are also spectacular. However, it is the staff and the location which make Mosvold special. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and taken care of, always happy to help with a smile on their face. The location is phenomenal, with one of the best beaches we visited in Sri Lanka, just on doorstep of this special place. My wife and I had the most amazing time, with memories that will last a lifetime, our experience in Mosvold will always be remembered as fun, beautiful and magical. We loved it so much, we booked 3 more times during our stay in Sri Lanka! Be sure to order the gin basil smash from the bar, you won't regret it!

It’s location, the friendly staff, comfy beds, Spacious rooms and the little attention to details like making the bed for night time. The spa and the balinese masseuse were great.

Cleanliness can do a lot better, the room furniture doesn’t give five star you can feel it a bit rundown. towels has stain mark on it while clean its not something you’d get at a 5 start hotel. Also, the hairdryer was sticky and had bits of dark glue all on it. Some of the staff although friendly and helpful they need to be more professional, for example walking into the room with wet shoes all the way to the table brining room service. Also had a thing with water pressure washing right in front of my room where the water started to get inside creeping from below the door. It was loud and it was unnecessary.

A great hotel with possibly the greatest beach front in Ahangama (Kabalana beach) Huge rooms plenty of sun loungers and attentive staff. This hotel has quite a mature colonial feel. Its sunset views along the amazing surf beach with 1km of sand were spectacular. A lovely pool and with Cabanas surrounding it. Breakfasts were wonderful and plenty of choice.

A small thing but if you order special coffees other than filter at breakfast they are charged extra, no biggie but could be included.

The facilities, how close the beach was it was so convenient for getting up in the morning and going for a surf and the best part about the whole stay were the staff they were very welcoming, friendly and the service was incredible. A big shout out to Garmini who looked after us every day his service was 10/10

Excellent location with a beautiful view. The staff were great—very attentive and welcoming throughout the stay. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, which made it very easy to relax. Overall a lovely property and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Everything was great. If I was to be critical I would say that the pool could have been bigger and also the beds could probably have been a bit more comfortable (mattress was slightly hard)

My husband and I loved this place so much. We extended our stay by 1 night because we didn’t want to leave. Lovely staff and gorgeous property- amazing location too!

We kwamen voor 2 dagen en zijn er 5 gebleven, werden al VIP gasten behandeld. Dikke aanrader om in je reis even verwend te worden en je onder te dompelen in een oase van rust, luxe en gastvrijheid

Staff were very courtious and they went of their way to make us feel comfortable The spa was awesome and reasonable

We had three wonderful days at Mosvold Villa. The location is perfect, right by the ocean and next to Kabalana Beach, where our children spent hours surfing. Relaxing on the sun loungers on the lawn with uninterrupted views of the sea and sunsets was a highlight. The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained, with excellent service and really good food throughout our stay. Mosvold Villa was the perfect place to enjoy a touch of luxury at the end of our trip to Sri Lanka. We highly recommend it.

The room was spacious, bed was super comfy and well decorated, lovely balcony over looking the beach. There was a lot of choice for breakfast and the food was delicious, I didn’t have a chance to eat dinner there. The service was amazing, everyone went above and beyond to accomodate and make the stay as pleasant as possible. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Ahangama

Prachtige locatie aan zee. Grote, schone en sfeervolle kamers. Iedere dag werd er iets lekkers langs gebracht. Gamini heeft ons heel goed geholpen en onthield wat we wel en niet aten :) we waren er met kerst en ze hadden een speciaal kerstprogramma gemaakt, bijzonder om mee te maken. De sfeer in het hotel is overall heel rustig en relaxed en het eten is heerlijk. Een aanrader!

It is a lovely hotel on a gorgeous beach with great surf from beginners to experts (a bit further out). Plenty of surf boards to rent for decent prices, and you can grab a lesson on spec. A great beach just to relax on or have fun in the sea. The hotel pool was warm and clean, plenty of sun loungers. The stand out feature was the exceptional staff, so friendly and attentive, and the amazing food. A quiet and relaxing hotel. The staff were excellent at organising trips and tuk tuks. I would highly recommend this hotel, we had a fantastic time here!

Beachfront location was simply superb. Nearby 2min walk Kbalana beach is superclean and wide, swim friendly and not too crowded . The villa is very spacious, luxury rooms with private terraces. Hotel Swimming pool and bar - restourant is outstanding. Restourant food is simply best in all coastline Sri Lanka. This was the most memorable stay in our holiday

Unser Aufenthalt in der Mosvold Villa war absolut herausragend – ein echtes 10/10-Erlebnis! Der Empfang in der offenen Lobby war sehr angenehm und herzlich. Das Zimmer war gross, extrem sauber und trotz leichtem Alterungscharme (typisch für eine Villa) sehr komfortabel. Durch die geringe Gästezahl fühlte sich der Service wie ein echtes VIP-Butler-Erlebnis an. Die Mitarbeitenden waren aussergewöhnlich aufmerksam, besonders „Imesh“ (falls wir den Namen richtig erinnern) – er verdient wirklich grosses Lob! Die Lage direkt am Strand ist traumhaft, mit wunderschönen Sonnenuntergängen und einem top gepflegten Pool. Die Sicherheit wird mit drei 24-Stunden-Sicherheitsmitarbeitern ernst genommen, was uns ein sehr gutes Gefühl gab. Die Preise sind in USD und etwas höher, aber für uns vollkommen gerechtfertigt, da Qualität und Service absolut stimmen. Das Essen war ebenfalls ausgezeichnet. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

Прекрасное расположение отеля, рядом находится чистый немноголюдный пляж со всеми удобствами. Чистота в номерах и на территории, чистый бассейн. Бар и кухня работает допоздна. Персонал все время появлялся как джин из лампы и выполнял все пожелания, при этом все было максимально деликатно. Хочу выразить благодарность управляющему отеля, видно что проделывается большая работа. А так же благодарность всему персоналу за идеальные каникулы

wunderschönes Hotel und Anlage mit schöner Aussicht aufs Meer und schönem Pool, sehr nettes Personal (haben uns jeweils jeden Abend kleine Aufmerksamkeiten wie kekse gebracht), Zimmer sehr gross, sauber und super ausgestattet, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt

Stayed at Mosvold 2 nights at the suite. Everything was great beyond the expectations 👍🏼 Great suite with great view. Location is near to everything you might need. Beach is fantastic for swimming and kids to play. The bed is amazing 👌🏼 Very quiet and comfortable 🤍 Highly recommended 🙏🏼

I stayed at Mosvold Villa as a treat at the end of my Sri Lanka trip, drawn in by the promise of luxury and beachfront relaxation. The rooms are large, stylish, and very comfortable, and the beach view is truly stunning. In the off-season, the beach feels almost private - I went for a run each morning and had it entirely to myself most morning. The sunbeds overlook the sea, and the setting is peaceful and serene. The staff were generally kind, especially the pool team who were warm and attentive.

I felt disappointed by the overall value for money. The service was very slow, particularly in the restaurant, and the food wasn’t great — especially for the price. The menu is in USD, which made this the most expensive meal experience I had in Sri Lanka. Despite what was advertised, the 15% discount on services via Booking.com didn’t apply, as parking and WiFi are already free, and there are no additional facilities like a gym or spa. While the hotel is beautiful, it’s quite isolated, especially in the off-season when surrounding cafes and shops are closed. You’ll need to take a tuk-tuk into Ahangama for decent restaurants or nightlife, and it didn’t feel that safe walking down the street at night. Ultimately, while the beachfront setting is gorgeous, you’re really just paying for the view — and I believe you can find more characterful and welcoming places in the area for less than half the price (even right next door!)
