The property was very quiet, pretty and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast delivered to us in a basket was delicious.
Quail Farm represents a rural idyll that oozes charm and old style country living. While we didn’t use the outdoor bathtub for any sudsy star-gazing, we did enjoy sitting on the deck and watching the sun go down over the orchard. It is so peaceful and a lovely place to visit if you want some peace and quiet, while within striking distance of the Abel Tasman National Park and Moutere region. Rachel was delightful and baked us a gorgeous loaf of bread to go alongside our ample breakfast.
This house is well over 100 years old and largely made of wood. There are some nocturnal creaks and bangs that you might find a little unusual at first, but be assured you are safe and secure in this charming property.
From the moment we arrived, Rachel made us feel very special. On the gate we had a cute welcome message. As soon as we arrived and opened the door, Rachel came to say hi and show us around. The place itself has so much character, it is much more than an ordinary bnb. You can tell there is an attention to detail with this place that made it perfect for our special occacasion The provided breakfast was all homemade and wonderful. If we wanted more we just asked and were given.
I did not want to leave this place it was so nice.
Such a pretty property, beautiful gardens and surrounds, very private and welcoming
Prachtige tuin, mooie grote en hoge kamer met prima bed. Alles was tot in de details geregeld door zorgzame host Rachel

We had a lovely stay at Rachel’s place and breakfast was amazing. The garden is lovely and everything is as described/in the pictures.
It did not concern us, but you cannot actually cook in the kitchen as there is no stove (but grill for bbq outside).
Loved our 3 nights at Quail Farm, Rachel was the perfect host, brought us warm home made bread and preserves for breakfast. The cottage is gorgeous, enjoyed the outdoor bath after a day on the Abel Tasman. We sat looking over the gardens watching the various wildlife potter around, it was quiet and very peaceful. Wished we could have stayed longer!
Absolutely stunning property. Fully enjoyed walking the grounds as well as meeting the resident Cat! Was a perfect retreat near Nelson, and was great to come back to the outdoor tub after hiking Abel Tasman.
Breakfast basket is lovely, though figuring out where to store everything in the tiny kitchenette wasn't the easiest. Homemade bread and spreads were fabulous, though agreed with someone else - the option for protein would be great.
We had a lovely stay at Quail Farm. The colonial charm and unique atmosphere make it a truly special and relaxing place. It has a wonderful old-style feel, yet provides all the basic comforts you need. A great spot to unwind and enjoy something a little different.
Gorgeous accommodation, very calm and peaceful. It was warm and cosy even with all the rain & hail we experienced whilst here and the host was lovely. The outside bath was my favourite, breakfast basket was so sweet and there was even a friendly cat. We would definitely recommend a stay for some relaxation!
this place is ADORABLE. really cozy and has everything you could need. close enough to town to drive in but far enough away to feel the relaxed vibe. wished I had booked for longer! Every detail considered.
I really love the cute design of the room. The surrounding is very peaceful and I enjoyed the outside bath so much. The hand-made bread is super delicious. Thanks to Rachel for providing a single bed as well. We had an amazing stay in sunny Nelson!
Very good breakfast. Very good, convenient, location for the venue of a family wedding.
I prefer to have more protein for breakfast. A hard boiled egg would have been nice.
We loved being in our own cottage and in such a beautiful location. It was so quiet and secluded. Great location to travel up into the Abel Tasman National Park, where we enjoyed hiking, travelling by water taxis and having lunch at a remote lodge only accessible by sea or foot.
Nothing. We would love to visit again.
Rachel made us feel very welcome and our accommodation (Orchard Studio) was great. It is set in lovely gardens/orchard and there is a nice pool that we didn't get time to use owing to pre-planning too many other activities in the vicinity. The Studio was nicely furnished and we were given a large breakfast basket on the first morning with a loaf of fresh bread, butter, fruit compote, yogurts, jams, hazelnut spread and marmalade. There is a large shower but you can divert the water to the bath tub out on the porch for a soak under the stars. There were plenty of other welcome extras such as fresh hazelnuts (and an efficient nutcracker) on the porch, sun lotion, insect repellent, foil, cling film and cooking oil. There was also a complimentary lavender product mate from the lavender grown on the farm. We highly recommend a stay here in this great rural location.
The host Rachel was really helpful and the place met all our needs. All the cosy touches and the breakfast basket made it a really comfortable and homely place to stay. We were very relaxed and enjoyed sitting out, listening to the owls and using the bath. We also loved Gully the cat who was very nice to us. We would happily come back here again.
The rural location but close to the town. The outside bathing and the use of Rachel’s products. The breakfast basket delivered was lovely with lots of home made foods. Both Rachel and Paul were excellent hosts.

Beautiful spot to either relax and refresh, or use as a base to explore the area. Lovely cottage with nice touches as well as a super comfy bed.
Lovely property and excellent hosts
Everything
Its soooo beautiful. House, Garden, Decor, quiet ❤️
We had a lovely Christmas stay at Quail Farm. We loved our breakfast. The cottage was well appointed and had a very well equipped kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and the whole place was very clean. We made good use of the outside bath. The barbeque was well used by us. There was nothing more we could have requested at Quail Farm everything was there. Loved the welcome at the gate.
Rachael is a great host. Privacy respected and breakfast basket awesome.. personal welcome written on front gate to property.
No couch or armchair inside the studio to relax in.
Large bed, homemade bread and jams for breakfast, friendly host.
Lack of drawer space.
Quaint cottage well located just south of Nelson on a Lavender farm which we could explore. Very quiet & relaxing with nice touches throughout the property. You can buy Lavender oils from Rachel which was a memento of our stay.
Nothing a few more days there wouldn’t have fixed 😂
Charming, private cottage. Rachel made sure every detail was perfect. Homemade bread, jam, granola and marmelade, lavender oil for the bath and great tips for activities nearby. Beautiful gardens. Absolute highlight of our trip!

Warm & cosy, comfy bed, outdoor bath, home made breakfast, webber bbq, nice and relaxing setting

We liked everything. Charming and quant. Was lovely
It was close to Nelson but felt like it was far away from everything in the country.

A rural retreat. Lovely, quiet location yet convenient for Nelson and Mapua. Sitting comfortably in the armchairs on the veranda in front of the blazing Chiminia in the cool of the autumn early mornings and evenings was a definite bonus. Lovely host.
The kitchenette was bit cramped but fit for purpose. Plan to cook outdoors on the gas Weber barbecue and you won't be disappointed.
It was very peaceful with everything provided to make your stay relaxing. Rachel is an excellent host who goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect for your stay.
Our cottage was really lovely, everything we needed, with lovely touches. Rachel and Paul were wonderful hosts and we would highly recommend and would love to stay again.

Beautiful home made bread cereal and all other condiments were provided! Loved the homely touches,
The location is very quiet and peaceful and the farm has so much to see and enjoy. Rachel has thought of everything from oil for the BBQ to a complimentary roller ball of sleep oil. So much attention to detail with our name on the entrance gate, sprigs of jasmine and lavender in the room, homemade body spray, welcome letter, blankets for cool nights outside on the deck, fluffy dressing gowns…and so much more to mention.
Nothing, was perfect!
Our host bought us a little basket of homemade bread in the mornings (still warm) it was left covered in a little basket, a wonderful present in the morning. We already had cereals, orange juice, milk, tea, coffee, homemade jam and marmalade in our room in the fridge. Our lovely host had provided lots of lavender products to try and Epsom salts for the outdoor bath which was wonderful. Peaceful location really helpful and knowledgeable host who was readily available if you had any questions or just wanted a chat 😊
We loved all of it the peace and quiet, the lovely birds and friendly chicken that came to see us.
I absolutely loved the outdoor bath setting
It was very hot, although there was a fan I felt like I couldn’t fully relax, air conditioning would be an amazing upgrade to the place
Rachel was an attentive host. A beautiful peaceful cottage in wonderful surroundings. The perfect place for total relaxation. Attention to detail and homemade bread was spot on!

Lovely & clean, comfortable beds & lovely linen. Loads of thoughtful touches- an exceptional place to stay. Excellent location for exploring the surrounding area
Nothing
The Quail Farm is in a seriously peaceful area, all quiet, real relaxation to forget all jobs. There are quails, chickens, and other birds in a top lavender farm. Rachel is a fantastic host, everything is impressive in the farm. The quality of the breakfast is truly amazing, natural, handmade. Highly recommended to all travellers.
The property was so peaceful and beautiful. The cottage is so adorable. And I don’t think I’ve ever been so relaxed as I was in the outdoor tub. Host was accomodating to our needs and the walnut bread was delicious
The bed was extremely squeaky. I think the screws need tightening
Breakfast came with a delivery of homemade hazelnut bread. Very peaceful location. Would highly recommend.
Personal touches, outdoor bath, freshly baked bread, attention to detail, friendly welcome.
We went past a wonderful lavender field to the charming and fabulous cottage. Rachel welcomed us very kindly and helped us with everything. We received freshly baked bread, butter and jam for breakfast In the evenings, we sat out on the cozy terrace with a glass of wine. We enjoyed every moment of our stay here. Thank you, Rachel!
Rachel was an amazing host. The location was very central for day trips out. The setting within the gardens was so pretty and private. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean. The breakfast was superb and delivered discreetly to us each morning. Would wholeheartedly recommend Quail Farm.
Beautiful spot, the personal touches, the outdoor bath.

loved the little touches… loved the location and the simplistic function of the amenities.
nothing!
It was nice location in a quiet country setting.
The pressure in the shower was interesting. Too ages for the hot water to come thru
Freshly baked walnut bread in the morning was delicious, a good selection of cereals, drinks and spreads. The room was very nicely decorated and the bed was really comfortable. Not forgetting the outside bath that was very pleasant.
The water pressure for the shower was a little low, making hair washing a little challenging for those with more hair than me!
Fantastic stay. We loved all the little touches, very handy to have our name on the gate so we knew we were in the right place. We really appreciated the lights being on as our ferry was delayed and we arrived late and the use of the washing machine in the morning was very helpful. Would love to return.

The cottage is i. a very quiet location and the porch with its bath and deck chairs are a little bit special in the cool of the evening.
The small kitchen is a little dark but by moving a lamp we navigated the issue.
Freshly baked bread, home made jams and cereal. Delicious 😋 Loved the fluffy dressing gowns and the bath on the verandah. King sized bed so comfy. Lots of lovely little touches that made the cottage feel special.
Water pressure in the shower could have been better.
Gorgeous cottage on beautiful lavender farm. Our cottage had an upstairs bedroom and bath all beautifully done. Kitchen was outfitted with whatever needs. Breakfast was delivered in a basket in the morning. Hammock outside. Very private. Use of washing machine a bonus.
Nada.
Beautiful setting! Privately situated cottage with outdoor slipper tub that I enjoyed even though the weather was chilly. Cozy robes provided. Upscale finishes provided a feeling of home.
Hard to think of anything… A squeaky bathroom door awoke my husband in the middle of the night but it worked itself out later in our stay.
Everything
beautiful. relaxing. peaceful.
nothing
Quite special and original - delightful welcome, sumptuous linens and bedding, lots of special touches including the outside bath. I slept so well😊
We stayed two nights and it would have been good to have our towels replaced and fresh bread for the second day - my breakfast expectations were high given the reviews. The property produces lavender products which were lovely but my companion is quite sensitive to smells and was not so keen.
This is such a magical little spot. We loved the beautiful surroundings, homely touches and watching the sunset from the bath. They have really thought of everything here and their handmade bread is delicious! Thank you ❤️
Quail farms was by far our top place we have stayed in the 5 weeks we have been travelling. Rachel was amazing and the place was so beautiful an peaceful. From the fresh baked bread to the wonderful out door soaking tub to relax after a busy day of site seeing. We were sad to leave and would highly recommend this place to everyone. We hope to see you again one day. Cheers Farley and Cheryl Genge
Nothing everything was perfect. Thank you Rachel and Paul for a wonderful experience.
Freshly baked bread and homemade jam was lovely with our cup of tea.
the pool and the country life.
no air con in the bedroom. it was hot in the evening without it.
A gorgeous setting with so many special touches. A very special place and a lovely experience all around.
Nothing, it was perfect.
We wanted a place to get away from city life and chill, and we found it!!! Having a chicken lay your egg for breakfast is a must. Our hosts were there but ensured our privacy. If you want quality downtime and super hosts just book.
Really, nothing.
This property is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back!
Nothing to not love. Countryside bliss!
the quiet location
Lovely place in a tranquil farm. Nice lavender smell since you enter the cottage. The bathtub close to the garden and flowers is an extra point. Lots of details.
I would suggest yogurt and fruits for breakfast and one piece of bread every morning, not just one in a 2 nights stay
Quaint and comfortable in a relaxed surrounding. A perfect place for a quiet getaway from busy world, but close enough to explore and enjoy the Nelson region.

Beautiful little cottage surrounded by flowers. The outdoor bath and fireplace was amazing. Rachel was really friendly and helpful in helping us decide where to go. Wish we could've stayed longer!
The water pressure was a little weak so you're best off sticking to that wonderful tub.
A great country location but handy to shops and food places.
Beautiful surroundings, wonderful facilities, great host
The water pressure in shower wasn’t great
