Reviewed Jan 13, 2026Lovely quiet place.It had more than expected,like picnic equipment ,bath and the breakfast option chosen before arrival made our stay super easy. I arrived there from Wellington by train and bus and my husband from Taranaki by car,it was easy to get there either way.Only an hour to City or FERRY departure. I would recommend to anyone heading to Wellington or as we did explore the close walks like Forks in Otaki and others.

Reviewed Dec 7, 2025Lovely quiet location. Very comfortable bed. A simple breakfast was provided. I am gluten free and they still managed a nice option. Also snacks: cookies, lollies. Real orange juice. Mostly everything you’d need in a kitchen. There’s an out door bath so maybe pack swim wear. Also a seating area in front of a porch.
It is quite close to the house of the owner but we found it ok. Parking is a bit awkward when first encountered but if you follow the instructions given it is actually quite straight forward. A sharp kitchen knife would be a nice addition.

Lovely decor, comfortable bed, good shower, and well-equipped kitchen. Dale has obviously been hosting guests for a while because she has thought of everything.

The interior coating on the bath is flaking off and needs repairing. Bubble bath gel would be a nice addition. Didn't realise from the photos that the unit was so close to the house which made it feel less private.

Reviewed Oct 7, 2024Quiet spot, easy self check-in. Nice facilities. Private. Nice little kitchenette. Nice touches and they left a couple of homemade cookies, which was great. If you're looking for a personal space with a comfortable feel it's a great option.
It's a sleepout at someone's house so that comes with pros and cons. It felt a bit like staying in a friend's spare apartment or batch. Everything important was clean, but a bit of dust around the edges maybe, and that sort of thing. Location is convenient to the highway and shops but a few k's from the beach if that's what you're looking for.

Reviewed Apr 25, 2024The garden outlook and the outdoor lighting near the entrance. The well laid-out interior and wall coverings. The breakfast choices including the wonderful NZ bread and condiments such as marmalade.
A dog has moved into the vicinity and barks periodically during the day and night. Otaki's growing noisy road vehicle population - the place is not as peaceful as it once was. Otaki's best pie shop closes during school holidays.

A fully equipped kitchen with bread,jams,yoghurt, fruit juice,coffee, tea,& a bottle of fresh milk were provided for breakfast. There was an outdoor bath that looked amazing but didn't have time to use it! A lovely outdoor area with table,chairs & a hammock. The bed was really comfortable.There were heaps of books,games,etc. The attention to detail was brilliant. Dale was such a lovely host & she drove us to the venue for the wedding we were attending. We would definately stay here again.
