Liked the room

Internet connection was very poor

Older motel in good tidy condition, with refurbished bathroom and an excellent shower. Towels changed daily .

Not a lot it has character and well maintained.

Clean, easy checkin at 10pm, firm Bed, good location

Was a bit loud being by the main road, and hearing others in the other units

Location was convenient, bed was comfortable and clean. Had a heat pump for warmth and an electric blanket on the bed.

The facilities - kitchen, bathroom, table etc were very old and worn. First impressions don't really inspire confidence when you first arrive.

I booked at late notice due to having to leave another totally awful illegal dwelling that I'd booked through booking.com. I was more than happy with Otaki Motel it was quiet comfortable, had everything I needed, nice having toiletries, nice plunge coffee etc. provided. Plenty of towels and nice fresh bedding. Great value for money. I enjoyed the relaxing aspect plus the locality to pop up to Levin and to Waikanae today. Enjoyed it so much I booked an extra night. I recommend as value for money and I will come again.

No complaints. As others have said some things are a bit dated...but then I am a retro fan and cleanliness is the main drawcard which this place was.

Bed was very comfortable and shower was excellent. I loved the visiting pukekos.

But table was worn and kitchen looked a little sad.

Warm. Has everything you need. Good location in Otaki. Close to shops and BP. A bit older but that was no issue at all.

Easy to find. Excellent heatpump.

Sticky surface on beside cabinets and table. Dirt/dust in shower door track. No Sky movie channels. Could hear people talking in the next room at 12.30am (definitely not soundproof). No milk for the tea, coffee, etc that they provide.

Location to venue we were attending. Comfortable. Had everything we needed.

Overpowering cleaning smell. At least it was clean.

Clean room. Very good location.

The convenience of the location.

The management text me the location with directions. I did not see any movement in the office on arrival but on departure I got a good morning from the office across the driveway, that was my only contact. The cleanliness of the room was dusty and in parts grime was visible on the crockery, the skirtings, the shower was appalling, mould and dust in the crevices they had not been cleaned thoroughly. The heating of the unit was non existent there was an aircon temperature was a cool 10 and could not get warmth in fact I turned it off. No electric blanket on the double bed only on the single bed and infact I couldn't get any warmth I had discovered the electric blanket on the single bed an got out of the double bed to sleep in the single in which the blanket was on a timer and I had to keep turning it up to stay warm.

It had all we needed for our stay, the facilities were clean and the staff friendly and accommodating

Not so much didn't like we just noted the facilities were probably due an upgrade (less the bathroom)

Warm, clean, nice bathroom, great outdoor seating for early breakfast in the sunshine. Very nice once you get in & settled.

The bed was warm & lovely & fresh, just the mattress was a bit in need of replacement. Location was a little confusing on arrival.

A bit rundown but everything worked

The Otaki Motel was great for our one-night stop. Some parts of our room were renovated (bathroom and new carpet), but some still needed work (kitchen area). Despite the worn areas, every area was clean. The location is quiet, yet convenient to town (full of outlet stores for outdoor gear and clothing!) and excellent bakeries (BlackHood Bakes) and the highway. The receptionist and the cleaning team (owners??) were incredibly friendly and helpful.

The bed was a little too soft for my husband.

Location perfect, have used this motel for many yrs like 2nd hm to us Very Cosy + Comfy.

Location was amazing, quiet and comfortable stay. Shower was hot and pukekos out the back door. Was amazing overall.

Despite being right beside the main road, it was surprisingly quiet. The outlook was lovely onto grass and trees... really appreciated it.

I liked everything, but you do need to understand that these units are in the process of being renovated - the kitchen was clean and well appointed, but, for example, cupboards etc were worn.

Roadworks. Hard to come and go during peak hour traffic times.

Parking at back of units. Very grotty. Kitchen. Pathetic. Horrible cooking facities and equipment. Old and poor use of space. Some oven useless. Finding place hard. GPS useless. New bypass and cones and road works at entrance. Poor value for money. $338 for 2 units absolutely a heii hole compared to Blenhim where on the way down we had a very luxurious 2 bedroom apartment for $260 and on wY home had a posh 3 bedroom unit which way luxury for $330. You need to spend some money on you first appearance in entry to unis and kitchen which made the whole stay miserable

Very accommodating, great communication. Clean, comfy and dogs settled quickly.

Probably around 50 years old so a freshen up inside with new paint and updated furniture would be welcome. Basic kitchen with tiny fridge.

The motel was clean, staff helpful when available, new bathroom, electric blanket.

Staff not available on arrival, office was closed and phone did not divert to owner.

The facilities are dated but really clean, and the price reflected the age. Perfect for a quick stop, not for a longer stay.

The shower was very good. The location was handy to the expressway.

It was a little noisy because of the expressway so close and there was also a motorway and train track nearby.

Really liked the privacy outside of the unit .

Es war abgewohnt aber sauber. Bad war super renoviert. Die Lage war nicht so schlecht aber es gab dort auch nichts.

Der junge Typ bei der Rezeption wirkte ziemlich benommen und eingetrübt (es war 14.09 Uhr). Fand den Schlüssel auch nicht. Dies senkte das Sicherheitsempfinden auf Null.

very old and tired

Location was good.

The unit was quite small and had some dead insects on the bathroom wall and above the double bed. The neighbours were very loud for most of the night. Nothing to do with you but my guest didn't turn up so was an unhappy stay in general. The insects and neighbour noise just added to the problem, didn't get much sleep .

Everything. It is really shoddy and run down. The outside front and back porches are filthy. The curtains are falling off. The bed was so old and soft it gave me back ache

Just needed a cheap overnight on our way north, but was very unimpressed. The unit was filthy. Its a very run down motel, which would have been fine if it was clean. Needs a proper deep clean and air out.

The service

The window in the bathroom and the man hole in the bathroom was open a little, also the dividers out the back needed to go further out so there was more privacy between other stayers

I liked everything.

Location is great, lovely friendly staff and clean spacious unit with comfortable bed and pillows.

Nothing we didn't like however when we arrived we were abit concerned by the look of it but classic case of looks can be deceiving as it was perfect.

It was peaceful and quiet. Just wish I could stay there more often and for longer.

Location is fine - We were focused on Ōtaki Beach a 10 minute drive away. This booking was an overflow for three men who were attending a weekend retreat at a different venue at the Beach. Booking was easy, communications were clear, the welcome was warm and kind and the staff were accommodating for our needs. It wasn't a place that I'd want to stay in and lounge around in all day, but it was great for what we wanted - as sound base to sleep, shower, change and base ourselves while our main activities were elsewhere. I'd be happy to recommend it.

Very noisy. A lot of road noise and railway noise.

Great location, close to town, loved watching the bird life while sit outside. Great shower and the bathroom were very clean. Kitchen was enough for what we needed, plus you have a choice of eateries to have tea at.

I'm an asthmatic and there was dust around, but I fixed that up. The cleaner needs to wash dust the boards and vacuum behind the bed more. Bed could do with a new mattress as it was very soft and low.

Manager/owner let us to check in earlier due to approaching bad weather.
