The location is picture perfect. The breakfast is simple and offers options. They did very well to provide breakfast without an in-room kitchen.

There aren't any aspects I would change - but I would avoid approaching from the state highway as traffic isn't accommodating - take the back road.

It’s other worldly - magical. It’s like a fairy tale journey into a past time.

The turnoff into the property is on a motorway and it feels a little like you could easily miss it.

Friendly staff, good location right across from the beach. Super buffet breakfast, included. Room nice and big, and very clean. Short walk to "downtown", nearby food and drinks etc.

Pool was either not open or not usable - it had leaves everywhere in it and, as is normal in NZ, was not heated.

Good old BnB service with a smile and great facilities all round. Would rebook without hesitation if in the area again.

We did enjoy our stay in Kingsdown , The room was nice and cosy with all one needs for the night , We were the only Guests that night so we had the place to ourselves . Breakfast was in our fridge and was very good !

A well-appointed bed and breakfast. Well furnished, proprietors are friendly and unobtrusive. Property is in a rural setting a short distance outside of town-just 10 minutes drive from the CBD.

Kingsdown Manor is a beautifully renovated former church which now operates as a wedding venue and B&B. It is located a couple of kms out of Timaru so it is lovely and quiet while very convenient to the town. An excellent breakfast was provided with the luxury of being able to have this in our suite at our own convenience. The bathroom was amazing; beautiful big bath. Our room even had a turret sitting room! Mel was a lovely host with a wonderful attention to detail

This is a homestay converted from a church, and the rooms are decorated warmly. The host also prepared extra breakfast for us. The house is a bit close to the highway, and you can hear the sound of cars during the day. There are fewer cars at night, which does not affect your sleep.

The bed was very comfy! Mel was very sweet and went above and beyond.

There was some road noise. Got pretty quiet late at night.

The B&B was renovated with love for detail. You can really sense the hospitality! Overall a great stay.

In a word, fantastic. The room was awesome, the ensuite beautiful and very clean. The host was amazing and super friendly and on top of it all was a great breakfast! Definitely worth staying!

The cleanliness and the hospitality. The place itself is very clean and welcoming. Greg and Mel are very helpful and they really look after their guests.

We stayed in a large room with a view of the sea. Very clean with a comfortable bed. The rooms are part of a converted church complex in the country. What stands out is the real B&B breakfast served to you in a dining room. The host is friendly and accommodating. There are good restaurants, about 10 minutes' drive in Timaru.

This charming B&B is the perfect base for both beach days and mountain adventures. I highly recommend staying for at least two nights – it's absolutely worth it! The hostess is not only warm-hearted and incredibly helpful, but also prepares the most delicious poached eggs for breakfast. A true gem for anyone looking to relax and explore!

Mel served us a beautiful breakfast in the morning. Everything from fresh fruit, cereal, breads, rolls and even eggs. We really enjoyed visiting with her and the other guests. We had a lovely room that was so comfortable.

This B & B has loads of character and had been thoughtfully designed and decorated. Mel was an attentive and helpful host keen to share recommendations for restaurants and places of interest both in Timaru and at our next destination. The cooked breakfast was excellent! We couldn’t fault anything and would highly recommend this B & B.

We were met by the host on arrival and shown to a delightful room. We then used the swimming pool before taking the hosts advice on a super restaurant for dinner. After a good night's sleep we had a lovely breakfast. We stayed for an extra day because we enjoyed it so much.

The property is very close to Highway 1 and unfortunately the period windows do not seal well so there is significant road noise during the night. I think a stating a sea view is optimistic.

Our host was very engaging and helpful. The room was beautiful and our breakfast, including eggs, was excellent. The location was just out of town, was quiet and suited us. Highly recommended.

A beautiful old building 5 mins out of town in a rural setting. We drove in to town for dinner so need a car. Perfect for our overnight stay. The room was luxurious and very comfortable. Breakfast in the dining room is provided which was lovely. Mel is the perfect host and makes it so homely.

We had a lovely night in the honeymoon suite, such a charming room. The bed was super comfortable with beautiful furnishings and the ensuite was gorgeous, we felt very special. Included in the accommodation was scrumptious breakfast in the main dining room. Such a lovely and unique experience and so close to Lake Tepako and Mt Cook.

The room — and house — was exceptionally clean and well decorated. The facility also had a peaceful, quiet feel. Mel, our host, was fantastic. She was friendly and helpful. Her breakfast was excellent as well. The room also had its own toilet, sink, and shower. The water was hot and plentiful. The bed was comfortable. WiFi and TV worked flawlessly. Parking was ample, the flowers and grounds were well maintained. We highly recommend as stay at Kingsdown Manor!

Booked the suite with very modern cottage athetistics. You can tell the owners poured their heart and soul into the place. It came with all kinds of amenities, always a plus. The owner (Mel) was so attentive and so sweet, she gave my mum a rose to go! The place is beautiful and so adorable! Super comfy bed. Got to try some local jams and relish with the breakfast. Beautiful sunrise. 100% recommended.

We liked being a little out of town - peaceful. It was great to spend 2 nights which allowed us to explore the Timaru district . Mel was a warm and helpful host- giving us great tips of things to do and breakfast was terrific. The property is beautiful .

Amazing hosts, breakfast and room. This property is a mini holiday in itself and an incredible venue for corporate events, weddings of family reunions. All the little details were perfect. Linen, organic coffee in the rooms and even a choice of bed firmness! Exception property in a market where average is the benchmark.

We stayed in the Deluxe Suite with Sea View and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bed was firm, which is how we like it. A very well thought out place right down to a hair straightener next to the hairdryer in the bathroom cupboard! Along with a lint remover in the wardrobe next to the iron. Decor was beautifully done. The outdoor setting and chapel would be an absolutely perfect place to have a wedding for a couple who want to have something a little more personal. Mel is a gem. Nothing was too much trouble. Mel even offered to drop us in town to watch the ABs! Thanks for the recommendations of attractions and things to do! Breakfast was a real bonus with a great variety to start the day off right. Greg and Mel have worked extremely hard to create such a stunning Manor. Thanks once again. Garth and Anita

Once again a fabulous stay at Kingsdown Manor. Mel is a fantastic host, and the manor has recently been renovated to a high standard. A lovely convenient location, and beautiful setting. Great for relaxing or laying over during business travels. I will certainly book to stay again when travelling through Timaru.

Overall great experience. The room I stayed in didn't have fixed heating installed. However, Mel ensured a plugin heater was setup and the room temperature was perfect. The bathroom was a bit colder due to only a small heater on the wall, and as the property has been nearly renovated, there are still blinds to be installed on the bathroom windows. However, it faces bushes and is very private, so it wasn't too much of a concern.

Clean, comfortable, delicious breakfast. Loved the decor and intricate details. The tower is a unique feature which adds to the property’s charm.

Kingsdown Manor is a beautiful old home and an amazing experience - we wished we had booked more nights here! Mel and Greg were an absolutely lovely Christian couple, and we had great conversation about our commonalities while enjoying a delicious and abundant breakfast. Our rooms were delightful and beautifully arranged with everything we could have needed. Many thanks to our amazing hosts!

Could have been better if we'd stayed longer!

Impecable experience! Clean, quiet and beautiful throughout. We had to stop and admire the grounds and the beautiful room features before we even put our bags down. Very quiet, 5min drive from Timaru CBD and the most relaxing bed. Everything was well put together and well thought through. The tower at the top of the stairs was the best place to relax, take in the view and have a cup. The hosts were fantastic! Gave us great recommendations and even had a printout of places to eat.
