Beautiful location on the banks of the Nile. Not far from the public ferry and close to some lovely little restaurants. Very helpful owners: early ferry and assistance with carrying luggage to the ferry. Perfect for anyone wanting to stay on Elephantine
Sehr gechillte Hosts, tolle Atmosphäre, leckeres ägyptisches Frühstück.
Marta and Osama are both super sweet, interesting, and caring hosts. They have several animals - a lovely old black dog and a whole bunch of cats - who are all adorable. Their garden opens out onto the Nile, where you can go for a swim. They offer you to borrow their kayaks. They have two levels of roof deck to enjoy a cold drink and soak up the sun. They serve alcoholic beers. They offer homemade Italian and Egyptian dishes, but you have to order in advance. The room had a guide for all useful information for our stay and restaurants, monuments, etc. in the local area. Wifi worked fine. You must pay for the room and any food/drinks in cash. They accept USD and EGP. Room has a fan and AC and a fridge with water bottles in it.

On the charming and quiet Elephantine island, this guesthouse is a a joy. Owners are so gentle and kind, making us packed lunch for our last day and giving us tips on where to eat in town. Short ferry ride into town (5minute walk to the ferry on a dirt road so don’t bring wheely bags!) Beautiful view over the Botanical gardens at sunset. Rooms simple, Clean, comfortable.
For those less mobile it’s hard to get to but that didn’t bother us.
Niks.
Good-sized well equipped clean appartement, friendly hosts

On recommande !

Lovely and quiet place, just next to the river Nile. Marta and Oussama were great hosts. We had a peaceful time at Nubian Lotus on Elephantine island, I strongly recommend.
Nothing
Clean cozy and have protection from the mosquito
Need to mention the shower is not that strong, also u need to take slippers, toothpaste and brush, and better shampoo with body lotion to have a good stay. These days the island can be cold at 5 am but hot when u get asleep.
Staying on Elephantine island was a wonderful experience. We stayed at Nubian Lotus for 4 glorious nights. The island has no cars. Everyone you meet is so friendly and they all know Osama and Marta. The ferries to the mainland are very frequent. Osama and Marta are the best hosts ever. They looked after us beautifully from organising Khaliid to come and pick us up from the airport and then transporting us and our bags in their boat to their own jetty late one evening to organising our various tours- including a trip to Abu Simbel ( very well worth while getting up at 3.30am for as when we arrived at the site there were very few people there- when we left 2 hours later it was heaving). They also organised a driver and Sam, the wonderful Egyptologist guide, to drive us from Aswan to Luxor, stopping off at Kom Ombo, Edfu and Esna en route. Our accommodation was quiet with only the sound of occasional dog barking, sheep baaing and a donkey braying. Added to this, hearing the regular call to prayers from the various mosques on the island and on the mainland simply added to the magic of it all. We loved the food that both Osama and Marta prepared for us both Nubian and Italian ( fantastic coffee Marta!) Our room was beautifully clean and comfortable
There is nothing to dislike no matter how hard you try
What’s not to like ?! Friendly, wonderful hosts. A beautiful, sustainable, quiet guesthouse on Elephantine Island, with gorgeous terraces overlooking the Nile and the Botanical Gardens. The noise and chaos of the city just a memory - and only a 5 minute ferry ride away whenever you need to go. Life floats by on the sounds of boats and birds and children splashing in the water. Yes it’s possible to swim in the Nile there ! A wonderful experience. Everything was perfect and yet the biggest shout out goes to lovely Marta and Osama who are such friendly, gentle, beautiful people. And very reactive with answers to all and any questions I had before and during our stay. Can’t thank them enough. The hibiscus is lovely too, many thanks !
Having to leave.
We loved staying here! The guesthouse has everything you need and is well connected to the river banks (to the cornish it's about a 5-min walk straight on and a 3-4 min boat ride). It's best if you come with smallish luggage (backpacks or a carry-on) because the roads on the island are unpaved and there are no vehicles, but if you have bigger bags, a boat can probably be arranged easily. Now, all the big perks. It's fully immersed in the quiet rural life of Elephantine Island, with an amazing view over the river banks and the Botanical Gardens (easy to reach by boat). There is a large rooftop overlooking the Nile where you can have breakfast, dinner and drinks. Marta and Osama are lovely hosts: relaxed, accommodating and helpful, they truly made us feel welcome and at home. They let us get refreshed before catching our evening flight, gave us a good packed breakfast for our early morning trip to Abu Simbel and cooked us a great dinner on their beautiful rooftop. We loved petting and observing their growing cat family and their friendly dog after a hot day exploring outside. We could not have asked for a better stay in Aswan, and we would definitely stay again.
Martha & Osama provided the perfect experience for our two day stay. They are cheerful, kind and went above and beyond to help us when we faced some issues with the next leg of our trip. This little house sits on the west side of Éléphantine island which is a very rural and authentic Nubian place. We wholefully recommend the Nubian Lotus for anyone that wish to experience Aswan under the best conditions! Thank you again Martha and Osama !
Loved the location, ambience, staff, comfortable bed and very clean. More choice for breakfast would have been good. Good restaurants nearby.
Nubian Lotus is a wonderful place and family. Everything was perfect, the view is spectacular, the room was great for our family of 4. We sat out on our balcony with wine that you can buy and was astonished with our view of the desert, nile, and botanical gardens. The family made sure we had the best recommendations and even coordinated with our tour guide. We would highly recommend taking their package of being picked up at the airport and taking their private boat to arrive right at their pier it was a surreal experience.
Lovely inn keepers, wonderful place with great location: what's not to like? And the value!!
Marta and Osama are excellent hosts and caters to your needs if required.
My family enjoyed it very much, the environment is very good.
Na
The lovely hosts Osama & Marta were very caring to us and made our stay quite enjoyable.
Marta and Osama are really lovely. The whole atmosphere is authentic and relaxed. Marta works hard to make sure that visitors have a smooth and comfortable stay- Osama makes it all chill and relaxing. They make a perfect team
Nothing
Peaceful hillside location on the quiet side of Elephantine overlooking the Botanic Garden island across the river. Lovely hosts. Osama arranged transport and a wonderful fellucca ride. Marta made delicious pasta. We felt well taken care of. Our simple room was very clean and thoughtfully furnished including fridge, electric kettle, and a small kitchen sink.
I missed a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries.
Nice property on Elephantine Island. We enjoyed the view and walking about.
Breakfast was unsatisfactory. Bread was stale, foul was cold and boiled egg was over cooked. Also, the chairs on the veranda could use some cushions. Also, items for purchase, like water were highly over priced, more than a 5 star hotel! A 2 minute walk we could purchase our needs for a fraction of the price.
Wonderful Nile front location on Elephant Island. Excellent local breakfast. Very simple so a bit pricey for what it was. Extra services, ie taxi transport very expensive. Very nice owner. A lot of cats which I liked, but some people might not. I definitely saw a flea in my room.
Steps up from landing very poor and hard to negotiate. Overpriced journey to Airport.
The owner is so kind !
Nothing
Marta & Osama are the most heartwarming and kind hosts. We loved our 2-night stay, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience on Elephantine Island.
We loved everything about it. The nice friendly and helpful people who own it - Marta and Osama. They were very helpful to show us around the village and to prepare a breakfast box for early morning. We loved their cats and Kiki the dog. Osama, teaching us a few Nubian words. The beautiful building and the amazing view. The cozy room, spotless clean, including linen. Most comfortable bed during our trip to Egypt so far. And a bidet in the bathroom 😲 (thank you Marta). Overall a charming little place in a small Nubian village.
I wish we had booked a longer stay.
The people were amazing. The location was perfect and my wife and I loved the animals. We loved having a view of the Nile too
Nothing wrong
We enjoyed an amazing four nights here! Marta and Osama are excellent hosts and available to assist as required. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment. Despite the heat in Aswan the apartment stays quite cool and we were always comfortable. Our children were very happy to play with the pets onsite. The property faces the west bank and overlooks the botanical garden island and sand dunes on the west bank. The view and tranquility is simply delightful. (See photo of view) You should definitely keep some spare days in your schedule to relax and recharge on the island. We also highly recommend getting the boat transfer (small additional fee for this service) as to arrive by the water is a completely different experience to walking the Elephantine island paths. We took a private trip arranged through our hosts to Abu Simbel and also a felucca sail (see photo) which we also thoroughly enjoyed. I am so glad we stayed at the Nubian Lotus- it's a totally different world to the east bank of Aswan and even the east side of Elephantine island which is busier, noisy and has a light pollution at night.
We relished our time at this charming guest house. We stayed in the studio for 5 days (really more than Aswan warrents) and loved it. Staying on the island, wandering the streets and pathways, spending evenings and mornings soaking up the view, and jumping in the Nile at the end of the day - pure majic. The guest house is a world away from the bussle of Aswan at the same time as Aswan is easy to get to (for anyone turned off by the 5 min walk to the guest house it is easy to grab a private water taxi).
We loved everything. We took one of their tours and found it a bit pricey for what we got but that was on us - it is easy to organize tours in Aswan.
Very friendly hosts that help you out with anything you need. They even made us breakfast at 4 a.m. when we went on an early tour. The island is an oasis of tranquility filled with the friendliest, most welcoming people you will ever meet.
This place is a hidden gem of Aswan. While it is technically on Elephantine Island, it is easily accessible to Aswan by a 2 minute ferry ride. It's beautiful, serene, peaceful and my stay was greatly enhanced by the hospitality of owners, Marta & Osama. This place is truly a labor of love and they facilitated a carefree experience. Traditional breakfast is included and made by Osama himself. If you are looking for a place that is really rooted in community, you will thrive here.
Very nice and cosy place at the heart of Elephantine Island. The view of the Nile from the rooftop is breathtaking. The hosts are great and made me feel confortable.
Beautiful location, kind host and one of the best views at the nile and botanical garden during breakfast. The island itself is also great, with a frequent pond to get you to the mainland for 10egp
Perfect in every way. Marta and Osama are kind and generous hosts, helping us out and extremely responsive on WhatsApp. The room is beautiful, clean, with a good shower and comfortable bed. The rooftop looks over the quieter side of Elefantine and is great for breakfast or a beer in the morning. The ferry is close, regular, cheap, and easy, and the island also has the Aswan Museum and ruins of Abu within easy walking distance. There are some nice restaurants close by too. The best place we’ve stayed in Egypt and we were very sad to leave!
Nothing - just perfect.
The hosts very very friendly and authentic, the location is unique and the breakfast on the terrace watching the Nile and hearing the birds sing was precious.
The water pressure in the shower was low.
Peaceful. Lovely view over Nile to botanical gardens and desert behind. Nice to have breakfast or just hang out each day admiring the view from rooftop Easy access to Aswan via ferry for 10 Egyptian pounds. No cars on island. Amongst quiet Nubian village. Walk to many restaurants within 5 to 10 min. Well looked after by Mata and Osama.
Food was expired that was presented to us. The room smelled awful , the linen smelled real bad. Room was stuffy, windows don't open, air conditioner doesn't work. Won't stay thsts or send anyone to stay there. Waste of money and time, ruined our 3 days.
See above.
We got 2 rooms in an apartment with a spacious living room.
The location. It was too difficult to get there from the main road
We had an awesome stay at Nubian Lotus. It is a very beautiful and boutique guesthouse on elephantine island. We stayed 3 nights and had a great time. The guesthouse is directly at the Nile with a beautiful view of botanical island. It is very peaceful and rural there. After a couple of days in Cairo it was like heaven. Clean air and silence, except for animal noises which took us at the first night a little getting used to, but on the second day it was a welcome noise. Much better than noisy cars. But for those with a light sleep earplugs might be a good choice. We were also very grateful for the breakfast to go. When we had our trip to Abu Simbel, which started at 6 am, Marta prepared a very delicious breakfast to go. Just need to inform early enough. We enjoyed our stay a lot!!
Nothing
Location of the house was fantastic, overlooking the Nile river with the feluccas passing by, away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. We spent so much time on the terrace just watching the beautiful view. The apartment we stayed in was spacious and spotless. Shower was hot and strong. WiFi was fast and stable. Marta and Osama were very welcoming and accommodating. They arranged our transfers at arrival and departure, and we enjoyed so much this short private boat ride to the tranquil Elephantine Island. They also helped to arrange our day trip to Abu Simbel, and even prepared a delicious packed lunch for us. Laundry and meals could also be arranged upon request.
can’t think of any
Lovely setting with wonderful views of the Nile. Lovely, helpful staff. Great Egyptian breakfast on the rooftop. The room was big, clean and comfortable. Easy 5 min walk from where the ferry boat gets in. Highly recommend.
Beautiful place! Elephantine Island is a must when you stay in Assuan. The nubian Village at the west bank south of Assuan ist a tourist trap, here on this island it feels closer to the real thing.
The hotel was very homely The hosts very friendly and helpful and gentle people The Island the hotel was on was nice and quiet away form the Hustle and bustle of Aswan City but still only a very short ferry ride if you required to get to the city Any trips that would like to do can still be easily accessed
This is a spotless hotel in a gorgeous setting facing the Botanical gardens across the Nile. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, and Marta is a brilliant cook. Our children also loved the kittens! One of the best places we've ever stayed in!
Beautiful tranquil location on elefantine Island overlooking West Bank of Nile . Relaxed place Friendly helpful owners. Room and hathroom spacious, spotless and nicely decorated.Tea, coffee and water provided in room and big fridge . Lovely shaded roof terrace where you have breakfast and can watch sunset with a beer.Marta cooks dinner on request which was very good. Lots of cats and friendly dog!
A little off the beaten track altho whole island is like that so part of the charm. Signs to guest house get you there eventually. 8 mins walk from ferry. Slightly expensive for extras like trips and dinner compared to other places and room wasn't serviced during our stay altho I'm sure it would have been had we asked.
A big apartment that looks much nicer than the photos. Very clean and comfortable, and peaceful and quiet. Italian and Egyptian food available to order from the restaurant on site. The owners were incredibly kind and helpful and helped carry our luggage to the ferry when we checked out (around 5 minutes on some dusty footpaths). They also packed a breakfast for us and handed it off to us at 4 am when we were leaving for a trip to Abu Simbel.
I wouldn’t say this is anything I disliked, but as the property is on an island getting there is a bit more complicated. Just something to be aware of, but this is precisely why it was a peaceful place to stay.
Superb location on the Nile, with a lovely terrace area. Helpful and friendly hosts.
Nubian Lotus is a charming guest house on Elephantine Island. Osama and Marta were very accommodating. Osama came by motorboat to the ferry dock on Aswan to load our luggage on arrival and again when we departed. Breakfast was lovely upstairs on the roof. Marta cooked dinner for us a few nights--pasta, pizza--by our request. We asked if we could do our laundry and she insisted on doing it herself. The room had a frig, some plates and a hot pot. The water in the shower was hot and plentiful. The walk to the ferry dock to Aswan took less than 10 minutes.
I don't climb stairs well, and the only drawback was the stairs to the room and roof. But that's a personal issue. We were glad we travel with our own shampoo and soap.
Owners are exceptional with their service and the property is absolutely beautiful! The two bedroom suite is extremely comfortable and spacious. The beds are so comfortable and I felt so safe walking around the island! Breakfast was delicious and Marta always accommodated us with breakfast very early in the morning before heading out on our tours. The home is about a 5-10 min walk from the ferry with no paved pathway. The ground is sandy and rocky but Marta and her husband have the means to assist. Would definitely stay here again!
We had a very nice stay in Aswan! The hosts are super friendly, helpful and welcoming! The hotel has a nice terrace with the most beautiful view. We enjoyed sunset with a beer and a glass of wine. Our room was very clean and there was everything we needed. I recommend this accomodation to everyone.
Nothing! :-)
amazing location and an amazing house! so comfortable and cozy
nothing
Had great days at Nubian Lotus! The hosts are just lovely and the guesthouse is a very beautiful place to stay if one prefers a calm atmosphere.
Only the mattresses were pretty soft, so my back started hurting a little bit.
Great location. The couple running Nubian Lotus were very helpful and friendly. Location amazing & great view of the botanical gardens. They helped us to arrange a feluca ride at short notice and it was lovely. Breakfast was great.

The guest house was exactly as described on booking.com The location is lovely, overlooking the lake. We arrived at sunset and enjoyed sitting on the terrace looking at the boats and listening to the sounds of birds and other animals. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The air-conditioning works well and is quiet. The owners are very welcoming and offered us cold drinks when we arrived and also prepared a nice dinner. If we had ordered in advance, they would have prepared special Nubian food but as we arrived late they made nice pasta and also offered us food from the neighbours’ iftar meal which was very special. The area around the Guest House is very interesting and gave us some insight into Nubian life. We were sorry we could only stay one night. We are grateful to the owners for all the helpful emails they sent prior to our arrival we can recommend the Nubian Lotus very highly to other travellers. Note: reaching the guest house is very easy. We were concerned it might be difficult to find a boat but there are dozens (many dozens) of boats available to transport tourists from the mainland to the island so transportation is not an impediment.
I can’t think of anything. Our room (two-bedroom apartment) was well-equipped and comfortable.
Peaceful location, beatiful Nile view, wonderful hosts.
The apartment was great and in a very relaxt environment. Next to a free breakfast, they served a very nice diner and arranged an early ferry to be able to catch the first flight to Abu Simbel. The hosts thought of everything and were superb!
We loved everything, the room was clean and the bed super comfortable. The view of the nile and the desert is breathtaking. The elephantine island is very charming and the people there are so friendly.
nothing, it was perfect
my family and I really enjoyed with the hotel. The owners treated us well. Especially, their homemade foods were all good and it was very quiet.
everything is so clean and well-conditioned.
We loved so much this place that we decided to stay an extra night. Marta and Osama are just lovely. The views are amazing. The vibe in the island is great.
Everything was perfect.
The owners, Osama and Martha, are very nice people and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The room was a pleasant surprise, very clean and big. The top roof gives you a beautiful view of the Nile and the tropical garden.
nothing
Very nice and helpful lady. Comfortable bed, heater in the room (in winter it gets cold)
Breakfast wasn't made fresh, and very basic. The rooftop was a bit disappointing - there weren't comfortable chairs to sit and enjoy the view. I imagined I would sit on the terrace (or the rooftop) and watch the sunset, but it wasn't possible in February - the sun was setting behind the trees. There were some extra charges, like tax not included in the price. It was stated in the listing, so our fault by not reading properly. We traveled all over Egypt and it was the only hotel that did that. Comparing to other places, it was quite an expensive stay, and we wouldn't come back.
Arrived late but the host was lovely and waited up for us. Beautiful, well equipped and clean room, and the location was great. It's lovely to have a delicious breakfast with a view of the beautiful side of the Nile. Very easy to locate and just a 2 minute boat ride from the pier next to KFC. I just wish we had more than one night here!
Owners are very kind & good breakfast & clean and well-decorated room
everything is perfect
The colours are beautiful, and the room is very comfortable. Very nice view as well. If you like living in a more local place this will be perfect. If I come back to Aswan again, I will definitely stay here again.
Unfortunately the WiFi wasn’t as fast as I read from the reviews, but I guess it was just a bad day.
1) fabulous location, great view. Great place to relax with the propery facing the desert rather than facing Aswan. 2) friendly, service-orientated owners. 3) enjoyed eating a tasty Nubian breakfast on the roof and meeting other guests. 4) staying on an island with no cars on it.
1) the property has clearly been built to remain cool during an Egyptian summer. Unfortunately this means its constantly cold in January. Our stay would have been very challenging had it not been for the provision of heaters. 2) the doors didn't open easily so we didn't want to close them for fear of not being able to get out if we did close them!
The hosts were incredibly hospitable and the island was so peaceful and lovely. Our room was clean and spacious and had all we needed for a comfortable stay. We ended up leaving later than planned because we wanted to stick around. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our time at Nubian Lotus!

the owners were Very Nice and welcoming food was great it was easy to move around aswan Thanks to the hotel’s boat and the view from the rooftop was incredible
The owners were beyond welcoming and helpful. absolutely beautiful place with a ton of room. Great service, food, accommodations. Location was outstanding and on Elephantine Island. the owners recommended a local restaurant that was authentic food and drinks on a rooftop with an amazing view of Aswan.
nothing.
Wish we stayed longer
nothing
This is a really special place where you can unwind and relax. Marta and Osama offer true hospitality and take great care of you. They are lovely people and wonderful to chat with when you are relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. The location is on the west side of the island, away from development, with a quiet and lush view of the Nile. The rooftop is scenic, and they have great food and sweets. The room itself is very cozy and comfortable. Traveling in Egypt can be hectic sometimes, so it's nice to have a quiet and relaxing place to start and end your day. Everything here was exceptional and I wish I could have stayed longer. I will be back for sure.
Osama and Marta were absolutely wonderful! I only wish I could have stayed longer! I loved every minute I was there! Their attention to detail, ensuring I had everything I needed and their availability was exceptional! Osama had breakfast ready for me before 6a and even carried my bag to the ferry! The best, kindest and most genuine people! I will definitely be returning!
Everything was perfect! My only disappointment was having spent so little time at this beautiful B&B!
The hosts were very “homey” and most helpful and generous. Osama has a simple, school-boy spirit and he’s always happy to talk and be friendly. Marta is practical and organized, her attention to the small details of the room makes it more like one’s home. The location, in spite of the walking on dirt roads, but being in a Nubian village feels quite safe and the view from the roof is very beautiful and relaxing.
It’s clearly stated and the hosts are very helpful about it, but it is quite true that heavy or lots of luggage will make it hard to reach and leave the property, so if one can’t move without lots of luggage, then help should be asked for.
We had a beautiful experience of a very unike and comfortable place with top standards of hospitality and personalized service. Would love to revisit, thank you so much Nubian Lotus.
Loved this place very much. Very comfortable and picturesque accomodation on the culturally rich island, with a breathtaking view of the Nile. Martha and Osama made the stay extra special with their kind hearts and beautiful smiles! Will be back!

We stayed for 3 nights and it couldn't be better. The family running the guesthouse is so welcoming and friendly, they help you with everything, they organised us a felucca, their cousin guided us to the monastery and the tombs of the nobles, the homemade food was delicious and healthy, rooms are comfortable and clean. It was just a pleasure to be at Nubian Lotus. Highly recommend!
My room was in the ground floor, and it had a homey feel to it, a great colour scheme, and while compact, super functional. And the hosts were wonderful - I had a bit of an upset tummy and missed breakfast, and Marta checked in with me, and even prepared some light food for me. Highly recommend!
Fantastic location. Great views.
A lovely, small guesthouse (just 3 rooms) on Elephantine Island with an outlook featuring the Nile, the Botanical gardens, ancient tombs and the desert. The room I stayed in was very comfortable, wifi was good, and plenty of hot water. The hosts, Marta and Osama, do everything to ensure that guests' needs are met. The food is good and an excellent Egyptian breakfast is included. Evening meals are an option and feature ingredients from their garden. Felucca cruises are available and it's possible to get a motor boat to take you to the west bank of the Nile. There are restaurants nearby and the public ferry to Aswan town centre is a 600m walk. It's a very quiet, relaxing place to stay. There is no traffic noise and the guesthouse is smoke free, a big bonus in Egypt.

Spot Quiet Clean location staff
It was shocking for our family to see a dog tied to a very short rope, and the dog was very docile. The dog had injuries to his legs from the rubbing of the rope.
