All I can say is wow, wow, wow! We originally booked 3 nights at Hari Niwas guesthouse but ended up staying for 6, and it easily became our favourite stay in one month in Rajasthan and UP. Priya and Deepu are such caring and lovely women, always chatty and smiley and keen to feed us or give us chai. I arrived in recovery from food poisoning obtained in Jodhpur and they both helped me with natural remedies to help my stomach recover. Breakfast was so delicious and plentiful and Priya even kindly shared some home cooked snacks with us. We just really enjoyed seeing them every day! The room was beautiful and really comfortable, plenty of seating areas and also the rooftop has a lovely view of the palace. All sites and restaurants were within walking distance and the train station for our departure was very close by too. All in all, a perfect place to stay in Udaipur and we would recommend to anyone, and hope to return one day soon!

This is by far the best home stay we’ve stayed at across both this and previous trips across India. A wonderful building, immaculately kept, with everything needed within the room for a great stay. The location is also ideal. The family were fantastic, friendly and the breakfast exceptional. Highly recommend staying here if visiting Udaipur.

Stare in questa Guest House è stato splendido, la struttura è molto bella e nuova, la camera, il bagno e la biancheria erano pulitissimi. Gli spazi ampi e perfetti anche per staccare dal caos della città. Colazione abbondante e buonissima, ma soprattutto le persone che gestiscono la struttura sono veramente speciali, uno degli incontri più belli che abbiamo fatto in India.

Zo’n fijne schone mooie kamer met nieuwe badkamers vriendelijke mensen die overal mee hielpen. Ik kan alleen in superlatieven spreken over deze locatie. Ook de ligging is perfect.

Wonderful hosts who provided lots of information and are very attentive to their guests. Very good and diverse breakfast with a large serving. The rooms are very clean and the whole house is well decorated and maintained.

Suggest to provide a hairdryer in the room.

Heritage building lovingly restored. Run by a family that provides excellent service, professionally competent and personally warm. The breakfasts were very good indeed. We ate so much that we skipped lunch every day

No elevator, which meant climbing three steep flights of stairs every time. I understand that they can’t install an elevator in a heritage building. I just think this should be made clear when people are looking at the property for booking. The other problem was that the police had banned four-wheelers in the lane due to the holiday rush. I don’t blame the hotel for this, because they may not have been able to predict this

Friendly and helpful staff and owners. Very personable - nothing was too much trouble. The room size was perfect for my family (2 adults/1 child). Comfortable beds. Bathroom was a great size and shower was lovely. Location was ideal - in the old town and just a 5mins walk to the City Palace, Pichola and restaurants. Made good recommendations for sites and restaurants. Yoga on the rooftop available when requested.

The hospitality was top notch. We were treated like guests in a typical North Indian family, not a hotel. This stay was definitely the highlight of our Udaipur trip. Their breakfasts were amazing as well.

Beautiful home right in the thick of old town. You’ll love seeing everyday life (and chaotic traffic) right outside the door. The views of the Palace from the comfortable rooftop at night are gorgeous. The room is clean and the hosts can’t do enough to make your stay comfortable. Be ready for lots of steps if you’re on the top floor but well worth it, and the host staff will haul luggage up and down for you. Highly recommend.

A little pricey compared to other places but it’s a nice experience.

The hosts were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and at home. They made sure we understood exactly where we were in relation to all the major sightseeing attractions but also gave lots of suggestions for smaller, more personal things like where to buy good Gulab Juman if we wanted a sweet treat. We were offered tea every time we came back to the house and on one occasion they went out to buy my wife a sieve so she could try the tea leaves she had bought from a market. They never tried to sell anything and didn't ask for payment for any of the extra things they did for us. The room itself was large, comfortable and immaculately clean (as was the whole building). Breakfast was different each day and was both delicious and plentiful. The guest house is located directly behind the city palace and made a great base for exploring the old town of Udaipur. Definitely one of our most relaxing and rewarding stays in India and we would strongly recommend it to anyone who is visiting the area.

We felt that this is exactly how a guesthouse should be. The owners were welcoming, helpful but not intrusive but someone was always there if we needed anything including arranging a tour with a tuktuk for the day to sightsee outside Udaipur including the Monsoon Palace. Ideal location to walk to the centre of Udaipur. Tea was always offered on our return to the guesthouse. The bed was very comfortable with lovely pillows and quilt. Breakfasts were freshly made with Indian and European options including fresh fruit and juice.

Doskonały wybór na pobyt w Udaipurze. Guesthouse jest bardzo czysty i stylowo urządzony. Pokój wyposażony we wszystko, co potrzebne podczas pobytu. Z tarasu znajdującego się na dachu rozpościera się ciekawy widok na miasto. Śniadania są różnorodne i z pewnością nikt nie wyjdzie głodny. Gospodarze są bardzo sympatyczni, służą dobrą radą i swoją wiedzą o mieście. Bardzo doceniamy możliwość odpoczynku w części wspólnej i napicia się herbaty.

Everything. The guest house is a beautiful building with excellent views of Udaipur City and the City Palace. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the shower was hot with good pressure. The breakfast was varied and delicious each morning. Best of all were the lovely family: they were warm and attended on our every need: providing us with delicious food when we arrived late on our first night, umbrellas for the rain, excellent tips on visiting the city and endless cups of masala chai tea. Would highly recommend to all!

Man weiß gar nicht, wo man bei der Bewertung anfangen soll... Zunächst einmal die Lage: Die Unterkunft liegt super zentral in Udaipur, sodass alle Orte der Altstadt sehr gut zu Fuß erreichbar sind. Kleine Balkone laden bei einem Chai oder Kaffee zum gemütlichen verweilen ein, während man dem Treiben auf der Straße zuschauen kann. Auch wenn die Unterkunft im Zentrum liegt, fanden wir es nachts nie zu laut, um nicht in Ruhe schlafen zu können. Durch den offenen Gebäudestil sind die verschiedenen Etagen lichtdurchflutet und vor den Zimmern sind noch sehr nette Sitzgelegenheiten, sodass man gar nicht immer im Zimmer sein muss. Überall in der Nähe der Unterkunft kann man sich Motorroller mieten, um damit auch Sehenswürdigkeiten außerhalb der Stadt einfach zu erreichen. Abends hat man zudem einen tollen Blick auf den beleuchteten City Palace von der wirklich riesigen Dachterrasse. Absolutes Highlight von Hari Niwas Guesthouse ist jedoch wirklich die Gastgeberfamilie. Wir haben uns von Beginn an total willkommen gefühlt und sie haben uns wirklich bei jeder Angelegenheit (Informationen zu Restaurants, Ausflugsziele usw.) super weitergeholfen. Mit vielen kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten (z.B. Chai, Kaffee oder Süßigkeiten) Abends haben sie unseren Aufenthalt nochmal total aufgewertet und zu einer sehr schönen Erinnerung gemacht. Das Frühstück (Indisch oder Continental) war sehr abwechslungsreich und reichhaltig. Wir würden uns sehr freuen, hier in Zukunft wieder Gast zu sein.

Dans une rue très passante d'Udaipur, l hôtel est relativement préservé par le brouhaha du trafic routier. Les chambres sont réparties sur plusieurs étages autour d'un puits de lumière. La salle de restaurant (pt déj) est au rez de chaussée. Le personnel est "aux petits soins" du matin au soir... Le pt déjeuner est très correct... (oeufs compris). La déco est agréable avec des peintures sur les murs du patio.. des sièges permettent de se relaxer devant la chambre. Les vues du rooftop sur le palace d'Udaipur (son arrière) sont originales. Le rooftop servira aussi pour sécher son linge... Prévoir env. 50E pour 1 nuit à 2 avec pt dej. Tout est visitable à pied depuis l'hôtel et les conseils de la responsable pour éclaireront utilement pour choisir des restaurants pour diner au bord du lac.

Merci à toute la famille pour l'excellent accueil. Tous les trois ils se pliaient en 4 pour nos demandes. Ils nous ont laissé des chambres - sans supplément- jusqu'au départ de notre bus à minuit! La situation est également très bien, avec l'accès à pied facile aux principales activités et attractions. Les restaurants à proximité.

Wonderful Haveli in the middle of Udaipur. Beautiful big and clean rooms. Great bathroom with hot shower. Lovingly furnished with great attention to detail. But the hospitality of the family enjoyed us the most. So helpful in all things (sights, train bookings, restaurant recommendations etc). Great breakfast. It was like "to be at home". Rarely used to so beautiful in India.

One of the best places I stopped during my time in India. All the staff were really friendly and went above and beyond to make sure my time here was pleasant. Lovely spacious rooms that were spotlessley clean, efficient air conditioning, and delicious breakfast. Really enjoyed my stay here.

Spacious, clean, nicely decorated and large room with good bathroom. Nice seating area to enjoy and a super rooftop view of the palace at night. We had a room upgrade which was very welcome. The two sisters and brother that run this place are fantastic hosts, more like good friends. Plenty of sightseeing suggestions, masala chai and conversation. We had continental breakfast here too which was plentiful.

The best accommodation that we stayed in during our trip to the north of India. The family were lovely, they gave recommendations on what to see in Udaipur, cooked an amazing breakfast and always asked if we needed any tea, coffee, water when we got back from our sightseeing. They cooked us dinner our 1st night and I really recommend trying it. The food was very tasty and it was excellent value for money. The entire guest house was incredibly clean and the location was fantastic. I cannot recommend this place enough. If I was ever back in Udaipur I would not stay anywhere else.

Hari Niwas is a beautifully renovated clean character-filled guesthouse. The common areas are beautiful marble, the room was spacious, the bathroom modern and convenient. There was everything we needed. The hosts are absolutely exceptional. They started helping us days before we arrived when our transport was cancelled. Each time we entered and exited they offered us help and food and chats. There were lots of lovely snacks and cups of chai. The breakfast and dinner were delicious healthy indian or continental options. The central location is perfect. I would definitely stay here again. We felt part of this lovely family

We liked the convenient location at the heart of the old town but quiet at the same time. Also worth mentioning the cleanliness and the boutique touch of the hotel. Recommendations and kindness from the family were fantastic.

The best guest house - everything was perfect! The family was incredibly nice, the room was very clean and the whole house is very beautiful and freshly renovated. The home cooked breakfast was delicious and we could even wish for food that we loved the day before. The house has a rooftop which is very nice as well and everyone was making sure that we had the best time. The host even sat down with us to give us a map of the city and explain what we could do and what she would recommend to see in the time we had there. The location of the guesthouse is great to reach the main attractions by foot and you have everything you need in walking distance. It really was just perfect, we recommended it to our friends and if we ever are in Udaipur again we will definitely be back at this guesthouse! Thank you so much for having us as your guests and for the wonderful time we had at your guest house!

Almost everything was excellent. The family running it is beautiful and helpful. The rooftop has a great view. The location is great. Breakfast was incredible.

The rooms were clean. The ordinary rooms we booked were a little small, with low ceilings. The Super Deluxe rooms were decent. The bathrooms in every room were well-designed, except the ground floor ones had no exhaust-fan in the bathroom. The property owners run the business. They were extremely cordial and cooperative and eager to please us. The rooms came with breakfast and we had a variety of Indian/Rajasthani and traditional english breakfasts - all very good. There is a very good view from the rooftop, but it is a walkup to the fourth floor.

We could not go all the way to the hotel in our car - it is a narrow street, with lots of shops, and entry is limited to certain times. There is no elevator, so we had to walk up to our second and third floor rooms. However, the hotel staff carried our baggage. The hotel couldn't provide us dinner and there was no really decent restaurant within walking distance for our aged group.

Super clean Homestay. Bedding was sparkling white and duvet had white slip cover (if you’ve spent time in India home stays, this is not the majority). Felt very homey. We spent 4 nights here and although I wasn’t feeling my best during the time, the family could not have been more kind. She directed me to the nearest pharmacy, offered to give me a ride to the doctor or hospital and cooked me some bland comfort food for my ailing stomache.

Everything was perfect.

We had a great time at Hari Niwas. The location is very central to the tourist spots and local shops. We could walk everywhere and didn’t need a car to drive us around. The family who ran the place took great care of us with home style breakfast to tea and coffee whenever we wished for. We would definitely love to stay there again in our future trips to the city.

The guest house was comfortable, extremely clean and the staff were excellent. The breakfast is delicious and homemade. Even though the streets of Udaipur are chaotic and noisy, the guesthouse was a peaceful haven.

We loved our stay here. The hosts are the best. Really friendly and helpful. Like staying with family. Great breakfast and always great to return home to the hotel to be greeted with lovely Masala Chai and smiling faces. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The rooms are lovely and clean. This wonderful, clean and freshly renovated guesthouse was the perfect place to stay in Udaipur. It's just the perfect guest house. The hosts were welcoming, helpful, and provided lots of great information and suggestions. The room was big, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was unbelievably awesome and freshly cooked for each guest. The location is close to the main attractions, and early in the morning there were cute cows on the street outside. The guest house is in a gorgeous old building that was restored and modernized by the hosts and is decorated beautifully. If I go back to Udaipur I will definitely stay here again.

An absolute delight. The family-run home stay is a wonderful home away from home. The siblings looked after us with such care and kindness, we really appreciated it. The room was spacious and very clean. The rooftop terrace has Palace views. The breakfast was made with love and every day included some nice variation. They shared tips for restaurants and things to do, that all turned out to be fantastic. We stayed here for three nights and loved it. We truly recommend this homestay!

The road outside can be a little loud but that’s part of visiting India :)

Everybody was very kind and helpfull. In just one day they captured my heart with so much care and empaty. It was really nice to stay with such warm familly.

Where do I start with this review and how wonderful that stay was. Without a doubt the best place we stayed in throughout our trip round Rajasthan. The sisters Preeti and Deepshikha are the loveliest people. They waited for us to arrive despite being late, they showed us how they make chai. Their food is delicious. It was the best breakfast in our travels. Such genuine kindness combined with the best room and bathroom, made this a highlight for us. It's not often I say this, but I would return to stay with them.

The hotel is on a busy road so there is some noise (it's India) but room was fairly quiet with window and door closed. Needed to keep the fan on to refresh the air. Hot water was good but fluctuated a little. There are a lot of stairs if you have heavy luggage.

The 2 sisters who run this are wonderful! Friendly and helpful. Eat here in the evening and you won’t be disappointed! It’s spotlessly clean and well-located. My bed was comfortable. The portions for breakfast were very generous. A fabulous place to stay!

Guest Hause with atmosphere. People and service were very profesional. We have got a lot of tips from the lady owner. Breakfarst was good with normal coffee (not milk with coffe but coffee with milk). They just listen costumers what they want. They have my rekommendation.

It was amazing. We couldn’t have dreamed of a better place to stay in Udaipur than this one. The host is so extraordinary nice and did everything for us. She was extremely responsive, very communicative and organised for us an outstanding tour of Udaipur in a very amount of time. The rooms very super clean, with all the amenities provided and the bed and bathroom very very nice. The guesthouse is so nicely decorated and one feels very much immersed into the local atmosphere and culture. The breakfast was delicious. Overall an awesome stay. Would recommend to anyone.

The most friendly and helpful people run this guesthouse. They make sure you have everything you need and feel well! The rooms are cosy, very clean and equipped with everything you might need. The house is in the perfect location, very close to the main attractions in Udaipur. I fully recommend this place!

It’s all been said by other reviewers but it really is exceptional. All of the family are so warm and welcoming and incredibly helpful. The rooms are charming and spotlessly clean. We ate all our meals at the haveli as it’s doubtful that we could have found better and Priya makes the best chapattis. N.B Puneet speaks fluent Spanish.

Beautiful place with big comfortable rooms. Huge breakfast served to you on the first floor verandah. Short walk to both city palace and bagore ki haveli for the nightly folk dance and string puppet show. Priya and her sister greet you with chai and biscuits and a city map, then point out what's must see and how to find them. They are cool and sweet and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. Highly recommended!

Kind, helpful, attentive but not over bearing staff. Clean, it is obvious the family takes pride in the home. Ample Hot water. Comfortable mattress Cool location, nice to be able to skip auto-rickshaws for a few days and walk everywhere.

Ear plugs necessary to sleep (but location is worth it) Some extra bed pillows would be appreciated, having only one makes it difficult to become comfortable with when you are in a strange place/new bed every few days.

In all our travels, the owners/hosts at Hari Niwas were the most hospitable and accommodating. Upon arrival they us a map of the area, highlighting the best attractions and restaurants. We used this map everyday throughout our visit. We ate at several of their recommended restaurants and all were excellent. Every time we saw our hosts they greeted us with a huge smile and asked if we needed anything. They made us masala tea in the afternoon and even brought me ground coffee for my French press every night! They helped us organize transportation to the airport. Breakfast is DELICIOUS! Hands down, it was the best traditional, Indian breakfast we had in all of India. I also highly recommend eating dinner at Hari Niwas. It was even more delicious than breakfast and better than any restaurant we ate at in Udaipur. It was also less expensive. Our room was on the top floor, just off the rooftop terrace. It was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The homestay is within walking distance to Udaipur’s best attractions - City Palace, Lake Pichola, Bagore Ki Havali, the Tibetan Market, and more. Highly recommend!
