Hosts Patrick and Mary Clare were lovely, welcoming and offered excellent local recommendations. We ate at Street Eats which was fabulous if you are looking for some very tasty Asian food in Kaikoura. Short walk into town along the beachfront. Amazing view from your room. Just wonderful.

The apartment itself was super clean and spacious with nice detail for interior. Thank you so much for the beautiful breakfast as well - our stay here was absolutely wonderful and we’d highly recommend!

They made a fantastic breakfast including gf bread available for me! Next morning we were off at 7am and they ensured we had some breakfast in our room the day before even though we were not expecting a thing! Very kind indeed.
Sofa was a little bit hard, could be comfier.

Auf Wunsch gab es sogar Porridge. In Zimmer gab es sogar eine Nespresso-Maschine und wir durften die Waschmaschine benutzen.

Everything was just wonderful: the conversations, the atmosphere, and the room itself — spotlessly clean with an amazing view! It’s the perfect place for couples who want to spend a few days in Kaikoura (we sadly only stayed one night, but we wish we had stayed longer!). A huge thank you to our hosts for their warmth and hospitality — we truly appreciated it! 🌿✨

Reviewed Jan 5, 2026This one ticked all the boxes with the convenient location right on the waterfront looking out over the bay, charming host who prepared a nourishing continental breakfast with boiled egg and fresh fruit toast and jams which gave us a really good start of the day ; the apartment was the 1st to be serviced daily of any accommodations that we have run into in New Zealand which gives a 10+ score, the bed gave us a blissful sleep and really there is nothing to fault about this property. For an added bonus, you can take a stroll around Patrick’s garden and you if you ask very nicely you might be able to have a raspberry or two which they serve for breakfast as well as other fresh fruits when they are in season. Nothing was too much if you had something to ask of his lovely wife Marie Claire. I really excellent choice for us. Rosalind and Wayne -Australia

Since we were leaving very early in the morning for a whale-watching tour, they thoughtfully placed our breakfast in the room fridge the night before. The room was beautiful and very clean, with a lovely view. A strategic location for visiting Kaikoura. Highly recommended.

Sharing a breakfast table with other guests. Breakfast was somewhat theatrical with hosts waiting table and engaging in too much conversation. Expensive - perhaps twice the price of similarly appointed places we had stayed in on North Island but perhaps tourist demand in Kaikoura is greater.

The room was well equipped and spotlessly clean with a beautiful area to sit out the front and enjoy the views. There was a fire on the road north from Kaikōura and the road was closed, so we were kinda stuck (no alternative route was available). They helped us so much, called to the local enforcement get some information etc. It was really nice and helpful for us. The place is lovely, spacious and very clean (with perfect shower!). It has a private parking. The location is perfect, only short walk to the town centre. Also the view is unbeatable. The breakfast was very good. We will happily book this place again when back.

Reviewed Jul 5, 2025Everything was perfect! We got a very warm welcome by the host, Patrick. The unit we stayed was very clean & equipped with a private bathroom. We're from Malaysia and all the heating equipment in the room is purely life saver during winter! View and location? Perfect! Beach is just across the street - you'll sleep and wake up with a stunning view. Food? Perfect! Patrick prepared breakfast for his guests and we were served in his dining room, and you eat with another view :) Bread made by Patrick and cookies made by Mary-Clare are amazing too! Price is a bit on the high side, if we're visiting Kaikoura in the near future, we'll definitely go with this place again. It was nice meeting you, Patrick - and thanks for your hospitality!
