Grand freedom

Mein Freund und ich waren bereits in vielen Unterkünften auf der ganzen Welt, aber diese Unterkunft ist wirklich etwas ganz Besonderes. ❤️ Sajith ist ein unglaublich herzlicher, aufmerksamer und hilfsbereiter Mensch und hat unseren Aufenthalt zu etwas ganz Besonderem gemacht. Vom herzlichen Empfang bis zu unserem Abschied war einfach alles perfekt. Sajith hat unsere Ausflüge gemeinsam mit uns geplant – vom Pidurangala Rock um 4 Uhr morgens über die Safari bis hin zu verschiedenen Viewpoints – und uns sogar persönlich hingebracht. Wir haben uns zu jeder Zeit unglaublich gut aufgehoben und willkommen gefühlt. Und das Essen … einfach unglaublich! 😍 Das Frühstück war so vielfältig, frisch und liebevoll zubereitet, und das Abendessen war eines der besten, das wir während unserer gesamten Reise gegessen haben. Sajiths Mama hat traditionell gekocht und dabei Gewürze und Kräuter aus dem eigenen Garten verwendet – man hat wirklich geschmeckt, wie viel Liebe in jedem einzelnen Gericht steckt. Die gesamte Familie ist so herzlich und gastfreundlich, dass wir uns fast wie zu Hause gefühlt haben. Wir sind unendlich dankbar, dass wir diese Unterkunft gefunden haben. Auch die Lage ist perfekt, um Sigiriya und die Umgebung zu erkunden. Wenn ihr in Sigiriya seid, können wir euch nur empfehlen, hier zu übernachten. Vielen, vielen Dank, Sajith & Familie. ❤️

Struttura eccezionale per la pace e la gentilezza di Sajith e la sua famiglia. Perfetta location immersa nella natura. Camera pulita e ci si sente coccolati in in tutto e per tutto. Fantastica la colazione, abbiam provato anche la cena e credo sia stata la più buona di tutto lo Sri Lanka!

Sajith, the owner, was great. He helped us with everything, showed us an amazing viewpoint, and was always open to a chat. He drove us to Pidurangala Rock to watch the sunrise and organized a safari for us in the afternoon. The food was incredibly good, both breakfast and dinner. There was even a welcome drink. Gluten free options were also no problem at all. The location is also great, close to the main road but still far enough away that you feel like you’re in the jungle. The accommodation was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. We had a wonderful time and would come back anytime.

Habíamos reservado 2 noches pero al final decidimos quedarnos una noche más. Sitio increíble en la selva. Todo cuidado al detalle y Sajith es una persona muy servicial y que se ofrece a cualquier necesidad que tengas. La comida estaba riquísima y variada, los 3 desayunos fueron super copiosos y la cena con lámparas de fuego caseras le dio un toque mágico a nuestra estancia. De lo mejor en nuestra estancia en Sri Lanka.

Sanjith and his family are the most friendly family we met in Sri Lanka. The 2 houses are very comfortable with a good bathroom and terrace facing the jungle where sometimes moneys, birds and elephants (dryseason) can be seen. Very well cleaned and comfortable rooms with fan and airconditioning. The location is very quiet but only a short walk from the main road with shops and restaurants. Every morning we had the best breakfast which tasted so so nice. We ate here dinner 3 times, and at 1 evening mom showed how to make the best curry's in her kitchen. Mom is the really thr best cook!! Sajith showed us every nice place around. The jungle walk behind his garden, which is, great, took us up for sunrise at Pidurangala Rock, showed us the temple of Dambulla and we cycled around and had a nice swim together. Our daughter turned 18 here and Sajith and his family all came down to celebrate, this was very special and we wilk never forget. We stayed 4 night and found it hard to leave.

Hemos tenido una estancia maravillosa en casa de Sajith y su familia. Desde el primer momento nos hicieron sentir como en casa. El alojamiento es perfecto para desconectar y vivir una experiencia auténtica en plena naturaleza. Estar rodeados de selva, escuchar a los elefantes por la noche…nos ha encantado. La habitación es cómoda, grande, limpia y tiene todo lo necesario. Además, el desayuno y la opción de poder cenar ahí en plena naturaleza (con fuego alrededor, todo muy auténtico) ha sido de lo mejor de estos días. La comida casera y local cocinada por la madre de Sajith está riquísima. Lo mejor ha sido la hospitalidad de Sajith. Siempre estuvo dispuesto a ayudarnos con cualquier cosa, nos explicó muchísimas cosas sobre la cultura de Sri Lanka, nos dio muy buenos consejos y se preocupó en todo momento de que disfrutáramos al máximo de nuestra estancia. Es un lugar que recomendamos al 100% a cualquiera que quiera conocer el lado más auténtico del país. ¡Muchísimas gracias a toda la familia por hacernos sentir tan bien! Sin duda, es un lugar al que nos encantaría volver.

お部屋も広く、ジェフリーバワ建築が好きなオーナーがこだわった、喧騒から離れ自然と調和した静かな環境で滞在できます。またお母さんが作ってくださる食事がとても美味しかったです。夕飯は到着後お願いしたところ、1時間後くらいにいただけました、 オーナーは英語が堪能で、夜ご飯を食べながらお話をしたり、翌日も自然豊かな現地の方達の生活を感じられる近所の散策に連れて行ってくださり、さまざまな植物や野菜、果物の説明、池やシーギリヤロックが遠くに見られる高台？に連れて行ってくださったりと、 とても癒されて満足度の高い時間でした。

Sajith is the most incredible host. He has designed and built the most amazing spacious cabins with aircon, hot water and amazing terraces right in the jungle. He goes above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable, answer any questions about the local area, book any activities you would like to do (safaris etc) and drive you to the rocks and cave temples. He and his family cook the most incredible breakfasts and dinners. The location is amazing and the peace and quiet is special. I would urge every person visiting Sigiriya to stay here and stay for a few nights so you can enjoy everything this town has to offer. Thank you Sajith!

朝食も夕食もスリランカの伝統的な料理でボリュームもあり、とても美味しかったです！ スコールで夕食を食べに出れない時に、急遽作ってくれた夕食も本当に美味しかったです！ また、現金がなくなって時、近くのATMまで連れて行ってくれたり、宿の近くのビュースポットや泳げる湖にも連れて行ってくれたりと、とにかく、宿に関わる人皆とてもやさしく、おもてなしをしてくれるあたたい家族でした！

Grand Freedom is much more than a homestay: it is a magical place surrounded by jungle and untouched nature, where a deep sense of peace can be felt at every moment. The location is very convenient, close to Sigiriya and the main attractions, as well as the bus stop. The room was spacious, welcoming, extremely clean, and carefully maintained in every detail. What truly makes this place special is Sajith. Traveling through India and Sri Lanka, Sajith is one of the most honest, respectful, and trustworthy person I have met. His care and attention come from a genuine love for nature and a deep respect for people. He is always available for anything you might need: whether it is information, help, or simply a friendly conversation. Also at 5 in the morning! Spending time with him and his family was the most beautiful part of my stay in Sigiriya. They are incredibly kind hearted people with a warm and generous spirit. Also, breakfast and dinner are absolutely delicious. I always felt completely safe and at ease during my stay, and I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone (solo traveller also!) visiting the area.

Absolut zu empfehlen. Wenn man das authentische Srilanka kennenlernen will, ist man bei Sajith genau richtig. Es war gerade das Buddistische Neujahr und wir wurden spontan von der Familie zu ihrem Neujahrsessen eingeladen, Sajiths Mutter bereitete verschiedene Sri-Lankanische Köstlichkeiten auf einem traditionellen Feuerherd zu. Wir assen noch zwei Nachtessen, welche absolut köstlich waren. Hilfsbereit und sehr nett, wir würden wieder kommen.

Ga hier heen!!!! Geweldige gast die heel goed engels spreekt en de moeder kan geweldig koken. Enorm ontbijt trouwens.

Wir sind nach einer halben Stunde gegangen um uns eine andere Unterkunft zu suchen, das Zimmer roch, die Unterkunft gesamt wirkle ungepflegt.

Wioe gesagt, wir sind schnell gegengen , weil die Unterkunft nicht den überschwenglichen Kritiken entsprach und wir uns hinters Licht geführt fühlten. Gezahlt haben wir trotzdem und haben trotz Zusage das Geld nicht zurück bekommen.

Wir lieben es - mega schön, Mega freundlicher Host (er hat uns einen view point gezeigt und angeboten uns zu einem schwimm see zu bringen) und unglaublich tolles Frühstück🥰🥰🥰

Die Gastfreundschaft der Familie und die Lage. Etwas abseits der Strasse. Man fühlte sich wie im Jungle. Das Frühstück und Abendessen waren super lecker!

A lovely little accommodation located just a short distance from the main road, yet perfectly surrounded by nature. You can truly feel immersed in the natural environment, with birds, squirrels, and even monkeys all around. If you enjoy waking up to the sounds of nature, this is definitely the place for you. The owner is incredibly kind and helpful, always making sure everything is perfect for your stay. Every morning, we were treated to a delicious, freshly prepared breakfast, which made the experience even more special.

The best meal we had in all of Sri Lanka was having dinner here, cooked by the hosts mother. The breakfast were also very complete and filling. The room rating itself is probably a 7 at best given its exposure to nature and existence of ants etc. But the hospitality and food more than makes up for it. The host even gave us a small tour to a local lookout. We were able to walk (flat) to Lions Rock.

Whilst there is a mosquito net, there are still ants that get into the room

We had an incredible stay here. If you are looking for an authentic experience in the Sri Lankan jungle, this is the perfect place. Sajith welcomed us with a fresh juice and immediately made us feel at home. He even took us around the area to show us a beautiful viewpoint and introduced us to many local plants and their benefits. It was fascinating. One of the highlights of our stay was cooking with his mother a wonderful and memorable moment. Sajith and his whole family are incredibly kind and welcoming, and you truly feel like a guest in their home. The place is surrounded by nature, right in the jungle, which makes the experience very special and peaceful. Sajith also arranged an amazing massage for us, which was the perfect way to relax. We are very grateful for this beautiful experience and highly recommend staying here if you want something truly unique and genuine.

Amazing location, right in the middle of the jungle. Incredible service, maybe the best I've had in years of travelling. Our host took us for a tour around the surrounding area which was wonderful and organized a safari for us. He organized laundry for us and the breakfast was exceptional. Sajith's mother also cooked us a wonderful meal one night.

No complaints about the accommodation, but just be aware that there are wild elephants about so you will need to get a tuk tuk back after dark. Sometimes they can be a little hard to track down but if you have any concerns Sajith will help you. Being in the jungle there is also a fair bit of wildlife about. There are lizards and frogs around — all harmless but if you're looking for "luxury" this probably isn't what you're after!

Mooie, rustige plek maar toch heel dichtbij restaurantjes etc. Achter de kamer is een terras waar je prachtige vogels en andere dieren kunt zien. We waren net te laat voor de olifant maar wel een hert en paradijsvogel gezien. Ontbijt was top, fijne airco en behulpzame jongeman die de boel (samen met zijn familie) runt.

Een klein koelkastje zou fijn zijn.

Holiday For me and my family, staying in Grand freedom was a wonderful experience. Kindness of Sayith and his family can't be described by any kind of words. All the time of our stay, we felt really warm welcomed, as we are in our own home. The place is beatiful, very peacefull and relaxing, but yet on a great location, close to all attractions. Rooms are big and cosy with comfortable beds, everything perfectly clean. The food is absolutely delicious, lots of varieties, everything homemade from fresh organic ingredients. If you like nature and you want to be immerse in the real Sri Lanka: Welcome to paradise! I loved the place so much that I decided to extend one more night. The bedroom is big, the terrace is so chill, but the best of the best are the breakfast and dinner, cooked with local ingredients ! Thanks to Sajit and his family for taking care of me, I felt like home. I was lucky enough to see a squirrel when I was reading in the terrace. Can’t stop thinking about how relax I was feeling. Hope to come back soon. Around the place: -30sec walk to the local supermarket -5mins walk to the number 1 Ayurveda and massage center in the area (Wasala center) -5mins walk to the wood carving & handicrafts workshop -around 10mins walk to Sigiriya -Less than 10 minutes drive to Pidurangala (amazing for Sunrise)

We had a wonderful stay in Sigiriya! The homestay was cozy and the curries were absolutely delicious. It was the perfect base for hiking both Pidurangala Mountain and Lion Rock, with both just a short distance away. ❤️ We enjoyed some truly yummy curries in the cute Garden! 🪴 The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, and shared so many interesting stories about Sri Lankan culture. We learned a lot and felt truly connected to the place. He also gave us great recommendations for places to visit nearby, which made our stay even more special. Our stay was wonderful. They helped us with an early check-in, and upon arrival, they kindly prepared a very complete breakfast for us, even though it was not included that day. They arranged a special dinner for us in a very charming setting. The entire family treated us amazingly and helped us with everything we needed.

Very lovely and friendly host who took his time to chat with us. The breakfast was also very good.

Be aware that the room with the two separate beds (not the double room) has very uncomfortable mattresses. We could feel the springs and could barely sleep. Maybe that’s not a problem when you’re in your 20ies, but for me and my friend it was.

On top of that, we requested dinner, and it was simply amazing—highly recommended! The host also helped us discover some hidden gems in the area and even drove us to Sigiriya Rock and back, which was such a thoughtful gesture. It truly cannot get any better than this. This is a lovely accommodation nearly in the middle of the jungle. Sajith was an amazing host who was super kind and told us so much about Sri Lankan culture, politics and Buddhism. He also showed us a nice view point that isn’t as crowed as the other famous once’s in Sigiriya 😌 The breakfast was so so good every single morning with a huge variety of truly Sri Lankan dishes and each and every single one of them tasted amazing!

The accommodation consists of two separated little houses, each one lovingly designed, and offers a great value for money choice. The host and his family are super friendly & welcoming, provide outstanding traditional breakfast (& dinner on request) and share good stories & tips what to do. Sajith (host) event took us on a little hike to a nearby mountain that has a great view over the surrounding landscapes. We enjoyed his funny stories about various encounters with wild elephants that live nearby a lot. Quiet location with good access to sightseeing spots. Easy check-in & check-out process, payment is done before check-out in cash. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a deep dive into the real Sri Lankan culture.

Loved staying at Grand Freedom! Really great value for the size of the rooms. It’s a very small guesthouse with only two rooms (for now!) which was awesome because it felt super quiet and homey! The family truly went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and the homemade dinners were absolutely incredible!

Wifi was a little spotty but otherwise no complaints!

The room is a bit damp.

Sajjid and his family where the perfect hosts, he had some great recommendations of things to do in the area. He organised a safari and local cooking class for us along with some viewpoints to go to. The breakfast was delicious and the dinner was some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka its a must try. Cant recommend the stay enough

A nice value accommodation around 30 minutes walk from Sigiriya. We had nice conversations during the breakfast where we were able to ask questions about Sri Lanka.

The accommodation was quite humid but that's to be expected given the location but don't expect to dry wet clothes in your room (I'm sure the owners can arrange that for you tho)

The host is very nice and welcoming, the place is close to Sigiriya park by walking, the beds are comfortable, the dinner was delicious, the breakfast was delicious.

The waterflush for the toilet was not strong enough and the hot water of the shower did not work

A wonderful welcome to Sri Lanka! Sajit and his family were the perfect hosts. The room was clean and inviting, with warm showers and our own private outside space. Sajit was incredibly helpful in showing us the local area and organising excursions. Our dinner was possibly one of the best meals we have ever had - a selection of curries cooked but his mother, and the breakfast was delightful!

We liked everything. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Sajith and his family. From then on he was completely attentive to our needs, taking us to see local beauty spots and sharing his knowledge about the wildlife, plants and local temples. It was all so interesting. Sajith also arranged our safari and helped us to organise our onward trip. This was invaluable! Wi-fi actually worked really well but Sajith’s local knowledge was much better than Wi-fi! We had dinner both nights, why wouldn’t we? The food, service and setting was just perfect. Breakfast was equally good. If you are planning on going to Sigiriya booking this accommodation is a must!

I absolutely loved staying here. The hotel is very well designed, super clean, calm and cosy. It is situated in a quiet place and the atmosphere is peaceful. I would recommend this place for people who want to rest in tranquility after visiting Sigiriya. The owner is very helpful. He is always available for any requirement. He helped me to organise safari, village tour, transfer to Trincomalee, brought me to see Dambulla. All that for a very reasonable price. Totally recommend this place and wish the owner and his family future flourishing and success in their business.

Everything!! The host is amazing and really went out of his way to make us feel very welcome🙏

We had a lovely stay at Grand Freedom. The place is surrounded by nature and we saw many animals such as monkeys, lizards, peacocks and a chameleon. Sajith gave us a warm welcome and even showed us a couple of local spots in his tuk tuk. The breakfast was excellent and we also opted to have dinner here which was delicious!

This was just such a lovely place! It’s set in lush forest and so stunning. 10 minutes walk away you can climb to a secret viewing spot to take a look at the magnificent views and Rock.

The room had a ceiling fan which worked well. My daughter struggled a little as we came in the hot season but they very kindly gave us another fan. Such a wonderful family!

A great stay in a beautiful location. Sajith and his family are super welcoming and great hosts. We particularly enjoyed the little extras such as Sajith walking into the lake- which was great experience. The food was delicious. Sajith’s Mum cooks the evening meal if you wish to dine in an outside setting, which we highly recommend!

It’s tough to put into words how awesome Grand Freedom has been to us on our 5 nights in Sigiriya. From first impressions with the dressing of the room to welcoming us in to the family to show us how to cook their curry’s and take us to temple. Thank you for taking the time to educate us more on Sri Lanka, your religion and the culture. We’ve truly had the best time here, and hope to come back some day. The room was beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed, the shower was hot and the setting very peaceful. The food was absolutely incredible and we highly recommend both breakfast and dinner! We also went on a local safari to see elephants which was amazing!

You should ask to eat the dinner at the place The mother making amazing curry and rice with a lot of options to add. Great desert at the end. Very welcoming family. Sajith is super nice and an amazing person, very recommended.

Sajith was the best host we could have imagined. We experienced great hospitality and he gave good tips what to do around Sigiriya. Also the food was fantastic! If you want a true Sri Lanka experience, come here!

Stop looking any further. If you go to Sigiriya this is where you want to stay. With Sajith and his private tour (if you're lucky you'll spot elephants), it's possible to make a picture not many will have: the 2 mountains in 1 shot. Sajith runs this lovely small place in the jungle. He is the embodiment of Sri Lankan hospitaltity. Whether its for a tuktuk, climbing or traditional dancing, he'll help out. Oh, and asks his mother to cook a meal with homemade curry spices!

Everything was perfect. We love the location in the middle of jungle. Breakfast was delicious and really big. Room was really clean and beatuful. The host can speak english and he is also able to arrange you pick up, and guide you around Sigiriya. We recommend this acomodation with all 10!

The cottages are surrounded by nature and you can feel the host takes care of that. This clearly was the best accommodation during our 3 weeks Sri Lanka Trip, not just because of the room, but also because of the fantastic host Sajith and his beautiful family. We enjoyed great homemade food in a unique environment and they allowed us doing a cooking class with Sajith‘s parents in their kitchen. They provided us with everything we needed with great care. We highly recommend staying with this fantastic family when going to Sigiriya.

Amazing stay- Sajith is an amazing host who guided as around the stay to a great view point near the lake. Rooms were amazing and very clean. Breakfast was great, very delicious and we regretted not having dinner there. We would for sure have stayed another night if our schedule would have allowed, one night was not enough! My luggage was delayed and delivered in the middle of the night: Sajith helped us with calling the driver and the airline to see where everything was in local language which I think is just great customer service and super attentive. He even took care of everything while the luggage was delivered in the midst of the night. Thanks so much Sajith & family!

Sajith was super friendly and welcoming. Took us on a walk though the jungle to an amazing view spot and lake! The room was super clean and private and the patio looked out into the jungle! Breakie was delicious also. Thank you again Sajith & family! Highly recommend 😃
