Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts

Loved the quietness of location (was near a residential area of apartments) yet close proximity to main sights, appreciated the host's responsiveness and accommodating nature, room was perfect size for 1-2 people - liked having a nice table to eat/work as well as a small kitchenette area that had a separate sink, mini fridge and water boiler. Appreciated having an air filter inside the room. Liked the close proximity (~3-5 min walk) to a large grocery store, cafes and restaurants and nearby Rembrandt museum.

The size of room, it was big enough. The breakfast was so nice. Esther is so polite. Location was good. As per availability, I got early check in which was so important for me.

Ruime kamer, erg netjes, comfortabel. Goed bed, lekker geslapen. Fijne douche. Vriendelijke communicatie en ontvangst. Verzorgd ontbijt op de kamer.

Locatie was niet mijn ding. Te ver van het leuke deel van de stad. Rustige buurt, maar weinig charme.

This isn't a hotel so much as it is a few hotel rooms appended to an actual school of arts and crafts. The rooms do not have numbers. They each have a single key. The room was enormous, more like a studio apartment. It had a sauna in the bathroom, a kitchenette, and stylish cloud-like artistic light fixtures. The window was enormous and the ceilings were 10 feet tall. Our room was on the ground floor but the street was very quiet and so was the hallway.

The sauna was a bit hard to operate and did not hold the temperature very well. The room felt hot without the ability to vent any windows for cool evening air. The location is very quiet but is at least ten minutes removed from the more central parts of Amsterdam that you want to visit, if not more, and a full 20 minutes walk to the train station, so for a single night stay I would recommend something much more centrally located.

This is a very comfortable place to stay in a quiet residential area, just far enough from the central tourist area to be free of the more problematic sides of Amsterdam. The room was spacious. A generous breakfast was served in the room. On the last day, because I had an early start, it was provided the night before. The room also has a kitchen area complete with a fridge.

The details are very clear that there are two entrances, but the Uber took me to the wrong one, which was frustrating. In fact, it's perfectly easy to walk from the railway station, and this is what I plan to do if I return to the property.

Fijne locatie. Relatief stille straat, maar je loopt zo het centrum in. Ruime kamer met kleine keuken en zitje. Fantastische badkamer.

Lovely room close enough to the city centre to get everywhere easily, without being busy and noisy. If you're happy to walk (which you should since the streets are lovely) then any part of Amsterdam is easy to get to. We loved the big breakfast, and Esther was very helpful with giving us tips and suggestions for things to do around the area. The room itself is spacious, with comfortable beds and a big bathroom.

The location was great. Very quiet. The bathroom alone was bigger than any hotel room I have ever stayed in in Europe.

The flooring in the living area was a bit dated and should be replaced.

There was a lack of variety in the breakfast and the towels weren’t changed the for four nights we were there.

This bed and breakfastis located within an art school and has got a spacious, comfortable room equipped with all the amenities you might need. The breakfast is generous, fresh, and a was a highlight of the stay.

If you, like me, tend not to check the check‑in time when booking your stay because you assume they’re standard, it’s worth noting that check‑in here doesn’t start until late afternoon (5pm). I arrived a little after 4pm, tired from walking and soaked from the rain, and had to wait because the room wasn’t cleaned yet. Additionally, the room is on the ground floor with a window facing the street, so if you’re a light sleeper, be aware that it can get a bit noisy.

Es war ein schönes und großes Zimmer, ebenso war das Bad sauber und geräumig. Die Besitzerin war sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend und das Frühstück ausgezeichnet. Auf vegane Optionen wurde eingegangen, wir können nichts bemängeln. Für einen Kurztrip absolut empfehlenswert.

Location was great for exploring the city. Hostess was eager to please. Breakfast was outstanding.. Nice and quiet at night.

Nothing to complain about.

The room is so large, and the ceiling is so high, that I forgot I was in Amsterdam. Windows were huge, and curtains with different heights gave me natural sunlight and privacy. Bed was so comfortable. The lighting and chairs were so interestingly designed and I enjoyed using them. The cold breakfast was very good - with fresh bread, ham, cheese, fruit, boiled eggs, etc. The small kitchenette was convenient with fridge, kettle, and microwave. A coffee machine was available. The temperature was OK. Wifi was actually perfect. The area is so quiet at night and conveniently located. And after all, it was such a memorable stay!!

Nothing major. It seemed that those people running arts and crafts atelier are also taking care of guests / breakfast etc., and they looked so busy that I felt sorry for asking for help, but that's my sensibility. (They were very helpful!) If you follow Google Maps from the Central Station you go through a slightly sketchy area, but you can easily avoid the red light district.

This spacious room was clean and comfortable. I showed up early just to store my luggage and I was lucky enough that they had just finished cleaning my room. Esther greeted me and showed me to my room. She gave me suggestions of what to do in the afternoon- the Botanical Garden! Well worth a visit in the heart of Amsterdam. Coffee and tea in the room as well as a little fridge. This was a lovely way to spend my last night in Europe. I had a restful sleep and am ready for my journey back to the US.

Great bed and water pressure. Location in old Jewish Quarter was close to large grocery store, Gassan Diamond showroom, and within 10 minutes to trains, metro and tram stops.

Our hostess was very busy; but we had a nice chat on the last day. We would have liked written instructions for the TV and heater.

This gem of a Bed and Breakfast is located in an oasis in the centre of Amsterdam. A quiet, clean, pretty neighbourhood where you won't find a tourist - all local residents. Its location is ideal, 5-7 minute walk from Nieumarkt which has plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. It is also very close to Amsterdam's china town which is very busy. The B&B is a 15 minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal train station or a 3 minute ride on the Metro, which is cheap, close and convenient. Esther was a lovely host and patiently answered all questions. The double room was spacious, nicely furnished, clean. The bathroom was very large, modern and clean. The breakfast, brought to your room, was great - Esther was kind enough to adapt the breakfast for my vegan diet. This was a great base for exploring Amsterdam and Utrecht.

The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The location was convenient and everything was well organized. A special thank you to the hostess, who was incredibly kind and allowed me to use the room for the entire day on my checkout day, which made my stay much more relaxing and stress-free.

The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean, the kitchenette was very useful.

Nette und kleine Unterkunft in ruhiger Umgebung. Sehr geräumiges Zimmer mit groẞzügiger Ausstattung im Zentrum. Geschmackvolle Einrichtung zum Wohlfühlen. Gastgeberin sehr nett - keine Fragen und Wünsche sind offen geblieben.

Die Tatsache, dass nur ein Mini-Fenster zum Lüften vorhanden ist, ist nicht ganz ideal. Der Fuẞboden ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig und leider recht kalt (nicht unbedingt ideal für Kinder) aber das ist bei einem Haus diesen Alters Kritik auf hohem Niveau.

Handy central location. Very friendly staff. Limited traffic on street. Huge breakfast tray. We ate only about 1/3 of all that was offered. Unit had a sauna that we did not take advantage of.

Street level studio apartment. This is good for not moving luggage up stairs, but a little noisier when pedestrians walk by.

Location was very located and bed very comfy. Room was very quiet and felt me like i am a lokal and staying in my home.

Boa localização, num local muito tranquilo e a uma distância de poucos minutos a pé do centro. Ouvia-se algum barulho de fora, das pessoas que passavam, mas era sempre momentâneo. Pequeno almoço excelente. A anfitriã foi muito atenciosa e simpática. Recomendamos sem dúvida.

Colazione da Re, ma temperature polari e "spiaggia" di polvere sotto il letto! Ho soggiornato in questa struttura e l'esperienza è stata un mix di estremi. Partiamo dall'unico vero lato positivo: il servizio in camera per la colazione è da 10 e lode. Un vassoio spettacolare, abbondante e di altissima qualità (uova sode perfette, frutta fresca, croissant, pane ai cereali, burro d'arachidi e una spremuta vera). Ti dà letteralmente l'energia per affrontare l'intera giornata.

Purtroppo, la notte è stata una lotta per la sopravvivenza. L'isolamento termico della stanza è inesistente e il riscaldamento totalmente inadeguato per le notti invernali di Amsterdam. Il termostato a muro segnava allegramente 26°C, ma l'impianto era praticamente spento. La camera era equipaggiata con purificatori/umidificatori della Philips che, pur illuminando la stanza di blu, si limitavano a far girare aria gelida. Per non congelare, ho dovuto accendere uno scaldino elettrico extra, mettendolo al massimo di fianco al letto. Il colpo di grazia, però, è arrivato dalla pulizia. Guardando sotto al tappeto del letto, ho trovato un accumulo di polvere tale che sembrava di camminare sulla spiaggia. Una negligenza igienica inaccettabile.

Both the room and bathroom were large and airy with high ceilings. The style was indulgent and witty making for an enjoyable space to be in. The breakfasts were copious and very filling (i.e. very nice and very big). Great spot to stay.

The room temperature tended to be too warm until I discovered the electric radiator in addition to the central heating ones.

Zeer prettige ontvangst. Ook makkelijk met uitchecken, we mochten de spullen in de kamer laten staan en de sleutel later inleveren. Ontbijt zeer uitgebreid, was meteen onze lunch ;-) Rustige plek ook. Dicht bij het centrum, maar toch heel stil.

Sauna was moeilijk warm te krijgen. Misschien dat we iets niet goed deden, maar het effect was niet wat we ervan hoopten

とても清潔感があり、居心地も良かったです。 ベッドも快適で、USBポートもあったので助かりました。 サウナもあり、とてもくつろげる空間でした。 近隣も閑静で、スーパーもトラムも近く、住みやすそうでした。そのため、移動も安心して行えました。 アムステルダムに来たら、またここに泊まりたいです。

入り口が少し分かりにくいかもしれませんが、係員の方が親切に対応してくださいました。感謝です。

Wegen eines Flugausfalls in Amsterdam „gestrandet“ und dieses wunderbare Kleinod entdeckt. Perfekte Lage, tolle Gastgeberin, wahnsinnig komfortables Bett und ein tolles Frühstück, welches ins Zimmer gebracht wird. Ich hatte alles was ich brauchte. Einzig durch die Deckenhöhe und die außergewöhnliche Größe des Zimmers hatte es die Heizung, bei Außentemperaturen unter Null und einer sehr großen Fensterfront, etwas schwer den Raum warm zu bekommen. Das wurde aber mehr als aufgewogen. Wäre gerne länger geblieben.

The proximity to the centre and the train station, quiet in nice residential neighbourhood, super clean, comfortable bed, big room, amazing breakfast, sauna in the bathroom, shower with amazing water pressure and temperature, soft fluffy towels, very kind and accommodating host, Esther is simply great.

Knapp 20 min zu Fuß vom Bahnhof Centraal, 10 min zum Nemo Science Museum, sehr praktisch und ruhig gelegen. Restaurants und Cafés im Umkreis von 10 min. Geräumiges, stilvolles Apartment mit Küchenzeile und Bad mit Infrarot-Sauna. Das Frühstück ist gut und ausreichend, kein Büffet, dafür bekommt man es ins Zimmer gebracht. Großes bequemes Bett,

Das Bad hätte etwas wärmer sein können, Thema war hier die Nachtabschaltung der Heizung.

The place is in a really nice location, the room is big and yes, you get your own sauna in the bathroom (the electric one). The person running it is easily available via the phone, it really has the charm of a traditional B&B.

The studio only has a microwave so not really a full kitchen.

Accueil chaleureux, chambre très spacieuse avec kitchinette, très bel équipement et décoration soignée. Grande salle de douche.

Au-delà de l'emplacement optimal : proche du centre mais au calme, mention spéciale à la literie très confortable, à la douche et à la cabine sauna très appréciable après une journée de marche. Le petit déjeuner copieux en chambre est parfait.

Il ne faisait pas très chaud dans la chambre mais un petit chauffage d'appoint était présent. Le prix est un peu élevé mais aucun regret tant on était bien.

Great location not far from Chinatown. Central enough for the museum district and town. Quiet too.

Our host was great, friendly & helpful, & gave us a lovely breakfast! We loved the vintage room decoration, & enjoyed the space we had, plus good bathroom facilities. The area was quiet so good to relax after exploring the city, close to lots of places we wanted to visit so we could walk everywhere, & only 15 mins from the central station.
