The property was in an amazing location, in walking distance to everything you need. Our room was spotless when we arrived, we absolutely loved our terrace we spent a lot of our time on it. Our favourite thing about our accommodation was our amazing host Marc, He was extremely accommodating to our needs, and was very welcoming to us coming from Ireland he gave recommendations for transportation, eating out and how to get around Amsterdam. We will definitely be coming back to Marc on our next trip to Amsterdam, I would recommend him and his beautiful canal located accommodation to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

There was nothing we disliked about our property. The interior was Beautiful, it had everything we needed and more.

Geweldige, sfeervolle locatie! Heel erg rustige kamer; geen geluiden van buiten, kamer lag aan prachtige achtertuin. Netjes ontvangen en tips voor verblijf etc. lagen klaar. Vriendelijke gastheer.

Er viel niets tegen.

Molto ben posizionato, con un bel giardino a disposizione. Bella zona, ben servita. Marc, il proprietario della casa (bellissima), è molto gentile e attento.

La camera è all’interno della casa, dove vive il proprietario, non lo avevo capito, per quanto non sia un problema. Il bagno è al piano di sopra, per quanto sia privato, è però un po’ scomodo

Marc is a fabulous host!

Not an issue for us but the toilet is on a separate floor.

Although I wasn’t there myself as the stay was a gift to my brother, he and his wife could not have loved it more. Marc was extremely attentive, made sure to show them around and even give a context on the history of the building. The place is beautiful, cozy and surely made their quick stay unforgettable.

Location was excellent! Bed is extremely comfortable. Central location within walking distance to Rijk Museum, Anne Frank Home, Canal tour, Dam Square, Central Amsterdam Train station ! Many restaurants close by. Beautiful garden terrace. Host was extremely kind & responsive to all our questions. Highly recommend!

Gran departamento ubicado en el corazón de Amsterdam. El departamento de Marc es increíble. Marc nos recibió muy amablemente. Nos dio recomendaciones locales y fue agradable en todo momento. La ubicación es excelente. Está muy cerca de todo pero, a su vez, el barrio es tranquilo. El departamento es enorme. El patio es muy lindo y tranquilo. La cama es muy cómoda y todas las instalaciones cumplen con lo necesario. Sin dudas, si volvemos a Amsterdam, volveríamos a elegirlo

The 2 big chairs in the room meant space for cases was restricted. Limited hanging space. Separate guest toilet up steep stairs but Marc offered us the use of his, which was close by, if we preferred.

Posizione eccezionale e host gentile e disponibile durante tutto il soggiorno. Giardino privato meraviglioso e dotato di tutto il necessario. Il bagno con lavandino doppio e doccia grandissima invece è annesso alla stanza.

Era noto che il bagno con wc è al piano superiore raggiungibile con scala a chioccola. Se posso fare una piccola osservazione, migliorerei la luce nel bagno in stanza e le prese di corrente vicino al letto.

Prachtig huis op een geweldige locatie in het centrum. Een hele mooie enbverzorgde kamer waar het aan niks ontbrak. De fijne stadstuin was een mooie bonus. Een hele vriendelijke en behulpzame gastheer

Unexpected bathroom facilities. Had to go up a flight of stairs for the toilet during the day. At night you could use a close by bathroom outside of our room.

Location fantastic , place was beautiful the decor and room and it was so comfortable small garden at back also. Very close to everything. All round great experience.

The room is in a beautiful traditional canal building. It was very comfortable and the patio is an excellent facility to have. The location couldn’t be better also. Marc the host is also brilliant. Very easy going and welcoming.

Everything as described

Everyone already mentioned about the toilet upstairs the winding tiny stairs, so we had a heads up. I guess if they were normal stairs, it would have been no problem, but as they were very tiny and steep, it did feel mentally a bit constraining. But also it's supposed to be the Dutch charm of that building, as that's how it's supposed to be unless modernised.

Das Zimmer befindet sich quasi in der Wohnung des Vermieters, ist aber ausrecihend abgetrennt. Wer für solche unkonventionellen Lösungen offen ist, wird von diesem Domizil begeistert sein. Die Straße selbst liegt super zentral und dennoch sehr ruhig. Da das Zimmer zum wunderschönen Garten aus gerichtet ist, schläft man selbst bei offener Tür zur Terasse absolut ruhig. Marc ist ein sehr freundlicher, offener und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber, man fühlt sich wie zuhause!

Ik wist maar vond het toch minder prettig, de wc is boven. Wel je eigen wc dus niet voor andere gasten.

Marc was a fantastic host, very lovely and accommodating. He was very helpful and would always answer our questions & help with local transport etc. The location was brilliant and it was good value for money. We were close to the city but the area was quiet so we got a good nights sleep. The terrace was lovely to sit and chat & the room was light and spacious. The building itself is beautiful, would highly recommend and we would stay here again.

As many people have mentioned the bathroom is up some spiral stairs but it wasn’t a major issue for us.

This B&B was very nice and clean and spacious. The owner, Marc, was wonderful - very warm, communicative, easy to reach and talk to, and he made this a great experience. He even went the extra mile on our last morning to review our train reservations and to give us some different options since our scheduled train had been cancelled. He really saved us and we were very grateful that he was so willing to help us like he did. Truly, a great guy! One other big bonus was the gorgeous ceiling of classic antiquities including medallions and very old busts and designs. I think Marc said they were from the 1400s and were found when refurbishing the house. Super cool!!

Although everything about our stay was excellent, the only thing we would have preferred was if we had had an ensuite toilet. We did have a dedicated toilet upstairs. We realize this was an old house that had been completely updated and remodeled, and know that adding the toilet to the room would have been very expensive, but that was our only minus.

We loved the comfiness of this apartment bed was superb! TV with English channels for those that are bothered whilst getting ready for the day, coffee machine! It is worth noting that the toilet is on a separate level which is fine if you are mobile enough but stairs are steep, very enjoyable stay Marc was a great host Garden is lovely and especially useful if you are there in summer i imagine :)

Great location, everything walkable and public transport close at hand. Marc was a great host, lots of recommendations for restaurants and sights. We loved our stay in Amsterdam.

All was good. But do keep in mind that there is a spiral staircase to the private toilet. Fine for us but would be tricky if you have mobility issues.

Very quiet. Grand entry hall. Spacious bedroom area. Ensuite. Access to back garden. Brilliant coffee machine. 5 mins from subway system. Helpful owner.

The payment method was inconvenient. It cost us an extra $100 because we had to get cash from a bank machine that came with additional fees. I was not told ahead of time that the payment had not gone through and 4 weeks ahead of time was needed. There was no other alternative payment methods allowed. Would not stay again because of this. Every other booking I was able to pay directly with my credit card ahead of time except here.

Everything was amazing. The location, host, facilities which were clean and tidy.

It's wasn't a big issue but the toilet was upstairs out of the apartment. Not ideal but also not really a problem.

Fabulous location and our host couldn't have been kinder. Easy walk to everything including restaurants, tourist attractions etc

Empiric was a lovely place to stay, very close to everything we wanted to see and with easy access to trams and trains. The front hallway was stunning and although the weather was cool because it was early in the season we still enjoyed our view of the garden every morning.

The staircase could be a bit challenging for older people at night, but Marc allowed us to use the other toilet on the same floor we were on, which was very helpful.

The high point is the glorious garden. But to that you can add the comfortable bed, the cleanliness overall, the quality shower room, the fact that there is a fridge, the extensive range of the TV channels, and the helpfulness of the host. Topping all of that is the location in a very attractive, easily accessible, non touristic neighborhood within walking distance of practically everything.

It is one thing to have a toilet outside one’s room but it is quite another to have it on the floor above! This is not mentioned in the apartment blurb - although I knew about it from the reviews. The access to the room itself - as well as to the toilet - is by way of a steep iron spiral staircase - also not mentioned in the blurb. You are forewarned!

My stay here was great. The room looks better in person, was spacious, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable with great pillows. The location was perfect and I would recommend staying in this area to walk to all the sites. Marc was very nice and friendly, and you are able to leave your luggage with him before check in and check out.

As others have said, the toilet is located outside the bedroom.

This was such a classic place to stay! The design and architecture amazing. The view from our room of the garden spectacular yet quaint . Marc was amazing we could not have asked for a better host.

The toilet was on another floor which could make it difficult for people Who need to get up In the night . We made it work but that’s the only thing we saw that could be an issue for people.

Cosy room in great location. Very friendly and welcoming host. Well equipped room with a nice outside area for two people in attached yard/garden. Only thing to be aware of is that the stairs are very steep and narrow to reach the room and the toilet is separated from the room in the ground floor. Not a problem for us but could be good to be aware of for those with limited mobility. Otherwise, highly recommended place to stay for couples etc.

Great location, not far from anything. Marc was a great host with lots of useful tips and information to share. Large, comfortable room, very quiet and peaceful. Would recommend Tia Rosa Tapas and Cafe de Klos, both near by.

Awesome accomodation in the city centre with walking distance everywhere. The host was also very nice, overall we had a great time

Marc was a superb host, highly attentive and engaging. He even arranged a bottle of wine for us on the porch which was very kind. The room was spacious and clean and the location was great.

Just a note that the toilet is one level above the room while the bath is ensuite. It didn't bother us too much but might be worth considering if this affects you.

Firstly greeted very warmly by host ...Marc. Marc could not have been more generous with his care for us. He kind and very helpful with details of HIS city. Our accommodation was very comfortable, had everything possible to make our stay happy and successful. AND the bed!! After a busy, busy day flying into Amsterdam Empiric was so easy and convenient to get to from airport. And from there city only an enjoyable and entertaining twenty-four min walk to centre and many other activities.

Location was excellent and walking distance to everything. Room was very spacious and loved having use of the garden. The host was very friendly and provided us with great restaurant suggestions.

Had an amazing stay at Marc's place which is full of history. Loved the huge private garden with the table and candles- perfect for romantic dinner or drink. Marc is an excellent host and provided us with some ice and water. The location is perfect. Would happily return.

I loved anything, the room, the position; far from the crowd, but in the center of the city. A very quite and comfortable place with a very nice garden.

The only thing that was not confortabile was the toilet outsider the room.

We enjoyed our 4-nights-stay at Empiric and we recommend this apartment: it is very close to the city center, Marc (the owner) was extremely helpful with us and the room was clean. The garden next to the room is definitely a "plus".

The location was amazing.

The room is good but the toilet is outside of the room which I learnt when I arrived. The manager was very strict with the time of check in and persistent to call your number to question your arrival time. Check out time is strict too. In all I didn’t enjoy staying here as much as I feel like I was on the nerve of fail the property rules.
